hi guys
i have a big problem...my nexus doesnt recognise my sim anymore.
i have opened it and i can see that one of the 3 sim connector is broken.
do you know a online shop where i can find a replacement for the sim slot ?
or do you know a workaround ?

Same EXACT issue here.. are these pins really fragile or what??
Also, a quick update. I brought this to a store in NY and they said that on each of the 3 rows, that make contact with the SIM, there are 2 pins that make contact. If both are broken (like in my case), they need to replace the whole SIM port because they can't solder the lower pin as the heat will do damage. If it's only the top (longer copper looking pin), than they may be able to fix it.
I am going to get another opinion this Friday and I'll update here. Otherwise, I am seeing if Samsung UK can send me parts or give me a quote to send the phone in for service, but it might not be worth all the money and may have to sell it.

Sim connector/tray part
I have the same problem with my Galaxy Nexus...not too sure if the nexus s uses the same part but I ordered from a site called tanstartrade (.ca) and the connector looks similar to what is on the Galaxy Nexus.
have you guys found any resolution to this? broke a pin off with the help of a sim adapter :facepalm:

I'm curious how you are all breaking pins. I have swapped sim cards lots of times (I was testing three carriers at one point) and I was decently rough in doing so. All my sims were normal size sims. Were those of you with broken pins wedging micro sims or using adapters?

Bingo Though in my case, I broke it trying to get it back OUT. I just stupidly assumed that the phone company would send me the proper-sized sim when I told them which phone I had, so I tried to put it in the only way it looked like it would fit. Then again, I am about as mechanically inclined as a monkey, and tend to break things easily
Yeah go with RussianBear's suggestion and mail it to FL.
Im not affiliated with them and havent tried them but I guess they charge around $50 to fix. Locally you might find a place to fix it as well. GL in getting it fixed .
If its a google play store model, Samsung USA should fix it for you free of charge.

Same thing here. Just got the nexus and still had the stupid micro Sim adapter from one s... Needless to say,i was pissed. The seller turned out to be a great guy though, helped me out a bit.
They did charge me about 50, but i didn't have to pay for return shipping (priority). I'll recommend this shop to anyone from now on not affiliated with them in any way, except for them doing a great repair job lol

Do you really think they will? I sent a message to Google, who referred me to Samsung for warranty support:

On that site, it says:

Since this was obviously my fault, and I'm not going to lie to them and tell them it just showed up this way, I didn't even bother to call and ask.
Just an update... I sent my phone off to the Hassle Free repair place. Apparently, they have one tech (a female) who is the only one that can do these repairs, and they claim she has been sick in bed for over a week now. They've been very responsive to inquiries, so I'm hoping they'll get it fixed eventually.
Will let ya'll know how it ends up.

About 12 days after I sent the phone in, I got a call from Crystal using my phone, saying they had fixed the phone, and apologizing profusely for the delay. After I made the Paypal payment, they sent it off the very next day. Phone arrived 2 days later... SIM card slot looks brand new, and phone works great
So I'd definitely recommend them, but I'd also check in advance if you're in a hurry, and make sure the repair person isn't on vacation or something, since there seems to be only one of her.

@worknman.. thank you for your patience, we actually had a family emergency and had gone to ohio for a few months to help out and were doing the repairs there. not being used to the weather i came down with a horrible case of sinusitis and really was bedridden for a bit over a week. again i do thank you for your patience and i hope you were more than satisfied.
as for our shop we do have 2 techs but only one that is capable of doing board level soldering properly. i take great pride in doing a perfect job so if theres a chance to keep the warranty intact, my repair will go unnoticed.(worked and was trained by samsung so i know how they solder so its easy for me to replicate) we have 25 years total repair experience and we are guaranteed to not be a "you tube" shop where we watch a video and think we know everything.... i was trained by samsung, motorola, nokia, audiovox...
bottom line is we do things right the first time.... hope to help anyone in need.... i promise you wont be disapointed...

The microphone on my Nexus 7 LTE 2013 edition doesn't work at all, so I've been attempting to find the replacement part.
Working with ASUS support to get this information has been a frustrating challenge. It seems their support reps are fond of telling you what they can't do instead of actually helping customers.
Does anyone know how to get information on replacement parts for the Nexus 7 2013 edition?

But the description of many of the parts isn't too helpful. The support reps for that site (Zand Parts) didn't know which part I would need to replace to fix the microphone.
Go to some local store that has an in house repair dept and sells the n7 and start asking a repair tech how they get parts and if they will order parts for you. Some examples would be micro center/best buy/etc.

Thanks. I've been talking to the manager of a local shop, and he said he'd need to take the device apart to see which part is the correct replacement. I just followed up with him via email to see if he'd tell me who his parts suppliers are.
I also talked to ASUS technical support again, and he didn't seem to know whether the microphone is separately replaceable. He said the microphone is attached to the main board, and that my not be possible to detach it and replace it with a separate part.
Either way, I think it would be helpful if people in this Nexus 7 2013 forum could establish a base of tips and knowledge on how to get parts and repairs and deal with Asus. I'll share what I find out, which, so far, has been very little.
A quick update on my quest to get information on replacing the microphone.
I've talked to two Asus technical support reps and gotten different answers.
The first rep told me the microphone is attached to the main board and cannot be replaced separately. He claimed I had to replace the entire main board, which would cost over $200.
The second rep, Emma Zhang, estimated the cost of the microphone to be $10, implying that it's possible to replace it independently of the main board. She refused to divulge the part number or any other specifics about the part. When I informed her that another rep said the microphone wasn't independently replaceable, she said I would have to send in my device.
I've replied to Emma, letting her know that I find her claim perplexing and unacceptable that Asus can't definitely tell me whether the part is replaceable independently of the main board.
Meanwhile, my latest emails to the local mobile repair shop have gone unanswered.
There is a nexus 7 dissambling video on youtube, just watch it to see if its replaceable or not, simple. Don't email for such a subject, go and talk to them, they need to get annoyed from you to help you.

I've seen a few Nexus 7 disassembly guides, but not one that answered the question about whether the microphone is replaceable independently of the main board, much less what the part number would be.
Okay, after over a month of evasion from Asus, I finally spoke with a representative who was both knowledgeable and straightforward about replacing the microphone on a Nexus 7 2013 edition. Here's the scoop:
There is an audio input component replaceable independently of the motherboard.
In some cases, it is necessary to replace the entire motherboard to fix problems with audio input.
Even in some cases where it's sufficient to replace just the audio input component, the engineers may choose to replace the entire motherboard anyway.
I didn't ask what the part name or description is for the audio input component.

For anyone seeking to merely replace the mic, this (old) thread is a bit misleading.
The procedure is VERY simple (and obvious once the device is opened by removing the back). The tiny mic is an integral part of the power/volume cable assembly which is relatively cheap and readily available, including from the ASUS part source previously mentioned (look under "cable").
Unfortunately, the proper part - the full cable assembly- does not generally become apparent when searching solely for "microphone."
My tablet screen is absolutely shattered and Intercity samsung repair centre can't repair it as it's non eu, any recommendations?
Can't? WTF? Hardware for the screen does not change between countries. You should pay for it tho since warranty will not be accepted.

Yeah ive just emailed back asking if they thought I wanted it repairing under warranty but I knew it wouldnt be under warranty anyway due to the nature of damage / purchase.
They sent this:
Thank you for sending your device to us for repair.
Our engineers have inspected your device and identified that your device is a non EU product, unfortunately we are unable to repair the device and it will be returned without repair.
Bit odd, cant seem to find anywhere on google that will repair it easily

Ive found 1 single one that possibly looks trust worthy the glass on the tablets are glued heavily to the lcd so makes screen repair difficult on this model so I don't think many are capable of repairing it

I haven't done that myself but a friend of mine changed 2 screens before. I think that glue has a chemical dissolver which you can buy online. just google for lcd adhesive remover or cleaner. and there s uv reactive clear glue to stick new glass.
Any company that would've repaired your screen would've just chnaged the complete display unit. The display unit goes for about 275€, so its not worth it. I would recommend changung the glas yourself or get a friend to help you. You have not much to loose.

Ive never done self repair before on a tablet so wouldnt risk it, from what ive heard self repair on this model ends bad
Official service centers won't repair foreign models to prevent grey imports from countries where their stuff is cheaper.
There are a few specialists who can separate gapless displays from the touchscreen. The latter is available separately, as that and the display come from different manufacturers. After their "marriage" they are treated as a unit, offically.
I think there's a thread in here somewhere, where someone did remove the touchscreen from the display. I'm not sure, but as i remember that involved not heating the touchscreen, but to attach some water proof rim around it, pour some liquid on it and let it there overnight. Strange. Is the liquid supposed to diffuse thru the glass, or was there a thermal effect? It was not liquid gas to freeze fry everything.
So, i had my Oneplus 3 not booting so i opened an RMA ticket 26 days ago. After dozens of emails they accepted to have my device repaired. DHL picked up my device and after 3 days it was with Arvato for repair. The motherboard was found faulty and so they performed an in-warranty motherboard replacement. What happened though after that? My device shipped from Greece for repair and Oneplus after repairing it, sent it to the Netherlands to an unknown person there. It's been 2 weeks now since the incident and the only answer i get from Oneplus is that the issue has been escalated and that someone is working on it. What can i do? any similar experiences? It really feels like nothing is done and that my device was lost in the Bermuda triangle with oneplus staying idle...

Tried that, with no success unfortunately... Definitely my last oneplus phone. I prefer to pay a bit more and get some proper service support in case something happens to a future device.

This can littery happen with all devices bro. Motorola is not even reachable for support/replacement. Samsung is insanely expensive... If you are in the EU I would claim the rights you have.

yep the thing is that other brands like Samsung or Apple, wouldn't keep their customers without a device during that time. They would offer a replacement or something. Oneplus did nothing in that regards, they just stayed idle saying a colleague is working on this. What should a customer do when it comes to that? Buy a new device and incur new costs? That's not proper customer support.

When I sended back my old S3 they said that volume buttons do not fall under warranty, I had to pay €50 to get the phone back.. We all have had good and bad experiences with support from different brands. I don't think it actually matters if you have an. Samsung, Huawei or Oneplus device.
Samsung would leave you stranded, just saying

A couple of months ago I changed the front glass of a Samsung Galaxy S4 with all the necessary stuff, e.g. loca glue. For the first trial the result was acceptable. No reading the other threads:

Open the ticket mate. No fuss. You'll get your device going in maximum 2 weeks. I tried replacing the glass myself and failed, I cracked the screen half way through...
Buying from eBay... Idk, but if people say they're not original, why Risk? Then again there's the struggle of doing it yourself.
The cheapest and safest is to send it to ONEPLUS.

I have replaced hundreds of screens in devices and for the most part it is cheaper and far easier then anything else.
Im about to replace my USB port myself as soon as my tool kit gets here on Monday.
I would never send a device to the OEM to be fixed. It will cost you twice as much plus the time without a device is just stupid.
I have always trusted these people with all the stuff I need to repair. Never trust some random Youtube video.

You could find a cheaper knock off im sure but I hold a simple believe when it comes to electronics. You get what you pay for. You buy cheap and you get cheap.
The USB port was like 4 bucks with 25 dollars shipping lol.

That's been my general experience as well, with probably the exception of Intel CPUs. Got my 1700X and is better for building than a 7700K or 8700K for almost half the price.

57 Euros doesn't sound bad actually especially if it's the regular screen.

I would never send a device to the OEM to be fixed. It will cost you twice as much plus the time without a device is just stupid.
I have always trusted these people with all the stuff I need to repair. Never trust some random Youtube video.

What? It may suck to send your device away but why are you saying they charge you twice as much? That's misinformation. I sent mine and it only cost 80£ (labour and shipping included). Where can you buy an original display for 80 quid? Even the Knock offs from eBay cost more than that.

You are not adding in the cost of buying g another disposable device to use for the weeks your device is gone. That's for you. Do you know how much it would cost from the US for a repair?

Great! The price surprised me. When my LG V10 died I sent it in thinking it was going to be a free repair for the bootloop issue.. $400 USD to replace motherboard. **** that lol

That's the issue is being in the states. It will always be a lot more expencive coming from there then from anywhere in Europe.

Repair center was in Kentucky, and I live in Connecticut LG just jacks their prices for some reason

Yep! Not gonna pay $400 to repair a device that is literally $100 something on Ebay or Swappa, and I am definitely not going to pay $400 for a device that is guaranteed going to bootloop again in only a years time. So I spent $300 and bought a new OP3. Originally got the V10 because as someone coming from IOS, I automatically thought all Android phones could be unlocked and rooted with ease, with some o them sweet custom ROMs. This guy didn't do his research and ended up with using LG's, horrible, horrible (I cannot stress this enough) software. Not to mention the extra thick layer of AT&T bloat behind it. I don't really care about the hardware in a phone, as long as its good enough to have the software run good.

I hear you there. I had a g2 for a while. Then moved to the nexus but the 6 had issues dealing with the cold. So got the 1+3 for a steal from a dev. To be honest. I wanted to hate it because the CEO is an idiot. But other then some crappy BT issues when on a weak wifi connection. (licensing issues I'm sure) and the fact it won't work with my smart watch. I really can't complain about about.
I replaced my Motherboard and Battery by sending it to Oneplus. I do live in the EU so that could be a big difference. But a DHL driver picked it up on Monday. And I got it back the same week on Friday fully repaired without additional costs. A screen replacement here costs about €100 which is not expensive at all.. The problem mainly is that original parts are very rare and mostly fake.

I used DHL for the first time Getting the USB port. Ordered it before Xmas and got it 2 weeks later. I was impressed with DHL as they went out of their way to make sure I got the package.
