Start -- Settings -- System -- Power -- Backlight -- Uncheck "Auto adjust backlight"
On a custom rom so yours might be different, but the setting should be in there somewhere.
Is there an application or a mod to have this settings:
have automatic brightness when the phone in active
have low brightness when the phone is inactive BUT not showtdown the screen.
if i set up to "always screen on", screen is ALWAYS on HIGH brightness
thanks
...just use automatic brightness?

isn't the same!
You can set it to leave the screen on dim when it's plugged in, but I don't think that's what you mean is it?
it appears every hour at first
then I found that turns ON the option to Disable HW Overlays
it is really better but still flickers 1 time/day

You also have to set all three animation scales from 1 to 0.75. Also each time you reboot the phone you have to disable HW overlays, which is a pain in the rear. What I ended up doing is have it set by Tasker automatically.
so the brightness control. it clearl has an auto setting but it doesnt seem to really do anything. is it me or it is just broken or what?
I have the same issue. Specially on a bright day the screen is bearly visible. Can resetting the whole phone help?
Works for me with Eragon v9.0 - what Rom are you using?

in settings/display enable the adaptive brigthness,
that will activate the sensor.
after you set it and its dont change the brigthness values, make a reboot .
On Android 9 Pie we can enable ambient mode when double tap on screen for checking notification and time. On Android 10 double tap turn on screen. Is any solution to return "old-fashion" double tap? I have root.

If your using the EXKM app, disable native DT2W, then enable it in the EXKM app. Works very well :good:

That's odd. What method did you use to update to A10? Was it a clean or dirty install?
I did a dirty install of the factory image, and DT2W works as it should with the EXKM method
I used clean install. If you'll disable dt2w in kernel settings and enable it in firmaware settings will you get ambient mode?

Yes, I still get ambient mode. I just like the EXKM version better just because it's faster to wake the lock screen :good:

It's weird that you have ambient mode on Android 10.

If this is what you mean by ambient mode, then yes I do. However, I suspect you don't. It's a feature I have never used, so forgive me if I mislead you. Or am I confusing ambient with AOD? Which is also a feature I never have used?

Not any more apparently. Personally, I don't really get the point of it. It's just a darker version of DT2W the lock screen to see the same thing. But that's just me I reckon.

No, it's not. When screen in ambient mode it not reacted on touches. Now on Android 10 my phone in pocket occasionally turning on display (at walking) and I have false touches - for seven minutes my player stopped twice, once change track and once turned off BT wich caused disconnection of headset. It pisses me off! Now I just turn off DT2W and had to turn AOD that drain my battery. Hey, Google, are you OK?

No worries man. You have your opinions, and I have mine. It's just something I never really need
