i got the unlocked version of fire phone, but doesnt seem to be working on airtel/vodafone India
i can see the network connected, but cant make/receive any calls ; same with sms
data seems to work though
calling 911, works i.e. atleast gives me a network operator error that the number is invalid; all other number the call just ends
any idea, how to get this working ? i have even tried to factory reset but doesn't help
amazon support, was not able to help; they just said its US compatible only and asked if i wanted to return the device
The phone supports the following frequencies and bands: UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz), Quad-band GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz), 9 bands of 4G-LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 17, 20), supports carrier aggregation
What frequencies are used by the carrier your having problems with? Also, make sure the SIM is inserted correctly. The contacts go down and the cutout faces away from the phone.
facing the same issue
Hi,
I am also facing the verify same issue, I am able to see the carrier and get signal but am unable to make/receive calls.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Is there any settings that need to be changed ?
:crying:facing the same problem, if there are someone really out there who can help us please do....
CAll Amazon
I called up amazon with the same issue. They accepted the fact that there are many with same problems in India. They are working on a fix and will keep me updated. They added my serial number and registered account to the internal Ticket created for this issue. I recommend you all to do the same and get added.
Moreover, they took some debugging data from my phone after approval so I belive you guys should do that to provide them with more data to fix this issue.
Will it not get activated automatically for Indian users
Rather than providing data to them
Nano Sim
Did you try using a new nano sim from the carrier? There may be an issue if older micro sims are used after cutting into nano sims.
Got a new nano sim from vodafone
I got a new nano sim from vodafone and its still the same .
Now only daru666 can help by letting everyone know what feedback he has from Amazon and if it works.
What should we do ? I am sure some update from Amazon technical team can fix this issue....
Anyone tried it in Delhi. Even if voice works, I am fine with the phone.
I can return it it next few days, so any confirmation would be very helpful...

An issue could be that the IMEI code of fire phone is not under registered or under whitelist category of Indian operators. Hence not able to make calls.
For this to happen, amazon will need to give IMEI list to the operators here to add to whitelist. Or it can also be checked with the operators if they recognize the IMEI nos of fire phone.
That would be helpful to us
Did anyone try flashing an android ROM to make it work in India?
Or is this lock hardware controlled?
Same Problem
Same problem....... :crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
Not working with INDIAN SIMCARD.
Loved the mobile But .....................
Shall i return it (or) keep it..........?
Hello Guys,
Please send an email to [email protected] with the below details.
Amazon needs the following details to find a solution to this issue.
1) Name of network SIM used
2) Did the store/anyone cut the SIM to get it to nano size?
3) Help us by providing logs of your Fire Phone.
To send us logs, please follow below steps:
1. Press the Home button.
2. Swivel your phone or swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Quick Actions panel, and then select the Search icon (magnifying glass).
3. Type ";dm" (without quotation marks) into the Search field. You can find the ";" key by tapping the “?123” key.
Tip: If ";dm" is auto-corrected by your device, tap "dm" in the word choices that appear above the onscreen keyboard.
4. Tap the Search key (magnifying glass), and then wait 60 seconds.
5. Connect your device to your computer using a micro-USB cable. When your device is plugged into your computer, it appears as a removable mass storage device.
6. Open the Fire phone folder (titled "Fire") on your computer, and then open the "Internal storage" folder.
7. Open the “KindleLogs” folder. Drag each of the files within this folder to your desktop.
Note: If you only see "DCIM" and "Pictures" in the "Internal storage" folder, this means your computer recognizes your device as a camera. To change the USB connection type, open the Quick Actions panel on your Fire phone, tap the "Connected as Camera" notification, and then select File Transfer.
8. Reply to this e-mail and include the logs as an attachment.
The total size of the attachment(s) must be less than 6 MB. You will need to send separate e-mails if the size exceeds 6 MB.
After you've e-mailed the log files, delete them from your Fire phone.
LET ME KNOW WHAT RESPONSE YOU HAVE FROM AMAZON ON THIS.
What is the response from Amazon???
I am also facing a similar situation
Amazon is casually asking me to return the phone and get a full refund. The refund process also looks too complex. Why it isnt working in India alone? They told me that
Although, the Indian carriers provide the network bandwidth which is required for the Fire phone, IMEI's of the Fire phones were not added to the carriers outside the US, so currently the Fire phone will not work with the carriers outside US.
When pressed if they would even rectify it by mid next year, they said that currently they arent working on it. They call a phone which doesnt work with any sim other than the U.S. an unlocked one. Still they are selling the phone at $449 calling it unlocked and when people face an issue they say its Unlocked only in the U.S. This looks like a complete fraud.
Any updates?

Did you return the device? Even the return procedure looks pretty complicated.

We should press amazon to find a solution to this and deliver a fix ASAP considering how big the Indian market can be for them for their inventory of fire phones that are unsold. Moreover, Motorola had similar issues with Moto E And Moto G and they had worked out a solution in 15 days. Amazon can also do the same provided they are serious on fixing the issue.
From what I understand, they need to give an update list of fire phone IMEI's to the Indian carriers who will update their systems accordingly.
The more all of us push, the more we have a chance that Amazon acts faster.
Hello,
I'm new on OnePlus Community.
I came from Samsung world and I'm waiting for my OnePlus 5 I've just bought !!!
My question is about dual SIM applications.
I'm looking for an application that will associate my contacts to SIM1 or SIM2.
Is there an application that can do it?
It will be good that this application would be able to manage SIM activation, I mean to be able to activate Pro SIM, for exemple, during certain days, on a time slot.
Thanks for your help !
Regards

Hi,
In my OP5, I have 2 SIM cards (1 pro & 1 perso).
In OOS settings you can activate or disable the SIM you want. It won't be automatic but there's no need of an external app.
For your contacts, you always have the choice of your SIM went you made a call or send a text message, with a small number to remember which SIM you use.
It works well for me in stock OOS.
I tried a few apps when I get my OP3 last year and I wasn't convitced ...
Hope, it'll help you to wait for your device
dual sim selector pro is the best app.
True Phone app

Hi,
thanks for your answer !
I will try these applications to associate contacts with SIM card as soon as I will receive my OP5.
Do you know applications to activate or not automatically SIM card (pro for exemple) during a time slot?
Regards
This question is for people who have an LTE watch and are using a carrier sync service like AT&T NumberShare, Verizon NumberSync, or T-Mobile DIGITS.
If you don’t have your phone with you, and your watch is connected to LTE but is in “standalone” mode rather than “remotely connected” mode, will calls and texts to your phone’s number still come through to your watch even though your watch is in standalone mode? Or is it required for your watch to be in “remotely connected” mode for calls and texts to your phone’s number to come to your watch?
Does the answer to this question change depending on whether you have a Samsung phone vs a non-Samsung phone?
The watch theoretically can receive SMS / calls independently of the phone connected remotely or not, have done myself with phone battery being dead, at times I have known it to default to the handle number allocated to the watch when initially registered, and not my main phone number, but suspect that's a glitch with my mobile operator as it has only happened a couple of times.
I don't have a Samsung phone, my phone is a 1plus 7pro 5G.
Hope this answers your question

Thanks for the info!
The few times that I have used the watch without the phone, calls and text come in as if it was attached to my phone. The difference is that I am not able to reply to text. It might be because I use a pixel 3 and not a Samsung phone.
I've had a quick test with my watch with phone tuned off.
I am able to make and receive calls. I cannot receive SMS's with main number, and SMS's sent from watch are from the number originally allocated to it upon registering eSim.
I'm guessing it's using the Galaxy Wear app as a relay for the watch, on this grounds I don't think it matters what phone it's attached to, I'm assuming if you had a compatible Samsung device that supported Samsung wear nativley and it was unable to communicate with the watch, it would do the same thing.
Kind of makes sense that the watch is acting as a dumb terminal to get around the fact that only one SIM card can be registered to one phone number at any one time.
Calls must be handled by some call forwarding witchcraft at network operator end.
Hope this helps.
Good day all.
I am looking for either an app or a rom or anything else that might work on a rooted OnePlus 5T.
I need to allow all calls on the 1st sim even unknown numbers,
but I need to allow only contact numbers on the second sim.
The reason for this request being that the second sim is being used as a standby number at night and I need to be called only by escalation contacts on this second sim.
Being on call every single night and not having to lug around a second phone would be great.
Missing important calls on SIM1 due to DoNotdesturb mode being in effect for both simcards is the reason for this post.
I am looking for a way to have Do Not desturb enabled only on the second sim. (allowing contacts only)
I know ive seen this feature on the xiaomi red note 3
Im open to any suggestions, hacks / tasker instructions/ custom dailers / custom rom recommendations / anything else ?
Thanks guys,
Hello,
as far as my research concluded the Note 10 doesn't support assigning contacts to a specific sim card.
While this isn't normally a problem since you can chose the setting to ask for each call, it is a problem when driving.
When starting the call from the car, it doesn't ask which sim card to use and therefore doesn't start the call at all.
Are there good alternative phone or contact apps which allow me to assign a specific sim to a contact?
Both the default app and the google phone app (currently my primary app) don't seem to support it.
Are there any good alternatives?
Thanks for any advice.

Try True Phone. Should be possible. This app has much more than just that.
Good question! I use all the time the dual sim function and it's such a non-sense having ro select all the time the SIM number I've got to use every single time... On my OnePllus 7T this used to be so simple....
Have been testing True Phone for about a month now and have been very happy with it so far.
Fixes my problem and allows a deep customization. Can absolutely recommend it.
I had a headache at work because of this. after all, a lot of necessary numbers were missing. I even lost my best friend's number, and besides, he moved to another city. But thank God I found a reference book, and it became easy to find a friend in France. I could not solve the problem with the phone. I had to buy a new one, I switched to an iPhone and am very pleased. And I advise you to go to the service or buy a new one.
