It's simple. Don't stay on OOS(COS) 13

Any other sugestions? I like OOS 13 only playing Diablo make me angry.

Would you consider putting your phone into performance mode, then check to see if that helps?

I try this first. Not help.

Strange, I'm fully stock A13 ( le2123 latest version). I installed Diablo immortal earlier and played it for 10mons, with no performance boost enabled. It worked great. Maybe try closing all your background apps?

try with high graphic

It happen even if I downgrade graphic. My background apps are closed. In other games like Genshin this problem doesn't exist.

Do you have the graphic settings set to the lowest? Have you locked to 30 FPS? Change display refresh rate to 60 Hz? Have you used Konabess to undervolt and over clock the GPU?

This isn't a GPU issue, it's a software one. OnePlus' "optimization" causes poor performance in a number of games.

I play my games on low/medium setting and I haven't had any issues running games on OOS 13. I do play Diablo Immortal but that is the most intensive (DI is not a very demanding game) I got, using FPS counter, it has never dropped below 30 fps. The only time it does sometimes stutter is when I amd playing while on 4G and the temps on the battery is 38 degrees +

30FPS at low/medium is unacceptable performance for a Snapdragon 888 on that game. I hope you realize that.

That is what I set it as in the game settings, so it's international. I know the Snapdragon 888 can do way better but he is talking about the performance of Diablo Immortal specifically. What I am trying to say is if you want higher FPS than 20, reduce the graphics settings lower. If you want smoothness, you can go further and lock the FPS to 30 so the game does not attempt to go higher and which something causing frame drops and micro freezes.
I will pick smoothness over graphics and looks any day and 30 FPS constantly is what I call smooth. I also understand since this is my preference, it may not be the same for others.

My Pixel 7 Pro, with a supposedly inferior processor, can run this game on high settings at 60FPS (when I tried it, there were drops with larger mobs but still above 30). My OnePlus 9 could run it on high settings at 60 as well but only on custom ROMs. OnePlus' optimization is the issue. They throttle the SoC way too quickly because people whine about their phones being warm, like that's not normal.

Yeah, the biggest issue is the heat and throttling. Customer ROMs with custom kernel improves it greatly.

Overall speed

Would you say that the Honor 8 is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the Honor 8 exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Feels very snappy, pretty much always.

The honor does fast, and smooth all around. I have not experience any form of "gittering" with their default battery management setup, thus it does not take away from the performance at all. Now when I switched the battery management to "performance" you would notice slight difference when playing heavy duty games. Over all, they did really good with the overall speed of the software.
I benchmarked the Honor 8 and my P9 and the Honor 8 won. Not necessarily the fairest test as I only ran it once, but perhaps the Honor 8 has been further optimised? Or can manage thermal issues better?
Either way, they're so close that unless you really want the premium look and feel of the P9, get the Honor 8. You also get Infrared and a fast charger in the box, which you certainly don't with the P9!
BTW, I don't own a Honor 8 (at least not yet) and love my P9 - but the Honor 8, especially in blue, looks awesome!

It has good cpu speed but the gui rendering is choppy in spots. It would have been nice if they used a GPU that matches the CPU but they cheaped out just like Mediatek. The real bummer is the poor battery life.
At the moment ir runs well, no lag, cause I didn't install many apps now on my phone, but to be honest, when I watch movies with it for 6 hours, it will heat, this makes me a little sad.
I have had no issues with the performance. I am running Nova Launcher on it and have no issues. Also, great battery life and no signs of getting hot during regular use. The software is definitely something that you have to spend a lot of time looking at. Not used to having to whitelist aps in order to keep them on when the phone is off such as Google Clock for alarms, etc. I also use Textra for texting as with the stock ap it doesn't pop up at all, just gives a small notification in the top bar.
But once I got it set up the way that I liked, it has been running great!
Thank you for the positive comments on the overall speed of the Honor 8 device! Housing a 9V/2A fast-charging technology reaches a 47% (from 0%) charge in just 30 minutes. So when you’re out there changing the world, the Honor 8 has you covered — with up to 10 hours of nonstop video playback and a speedy recharge. We appreciate the feedback! (NS)

I have been using Honor 8 for more than a month. Everything is fast and smooth, which can handle almost any apps easily. However, the phone can be very hot when running demanding game like GTA:SA.

Temperature of gpu does not affect how powerful or weak they are. Gta SA is easily maxed out on mediatek 6595 with powervr6200. If its hot, means the person is new to smartphone or maybe dont own any smartphone at all before this. The average temp while gaming is around 38-40°c only on the screen area(depends on how graphic intensive youre playing). Honor 8 is one of the coolest in temperature when it comes to gaming.

That's very informative, thanks
I would add this
https://youtu.be/4PNvj419AAs
As a real usage test. It performs on par with Mi5s Plus, only slightly beaten by the extra 2GB of ram. SD821 is also a bit cooler and with better GPU. But Kirin 950 architecture, RAM and file management is pretty much up there with the best.

Screeen becomes warm/hot with just normal usage quickly!

My phone's screen becomes warm/hot with just normal usage like watching video or something.. although it cools down pretty fast, but again when i unlock it's gaining that warmness immediately. is this ok or something fishy with my phone?
I normally have to be doing intense things while charging for my phone to become hot. Watching a video will increase the temperature slightly as well. This is something you should look into, it doesn't sound right.

The surrounding temp was 30.. and i was using chrome(4g), and you can see the first three images, how the clusters's frequencies get varying and the temperature around 40, the fourth one after exiting chrome, the frequencies where stil varying but came back to normal in seconds... even using it for a small time, my phone goes above35, i know 35 is not much, but still, and when it reached 40 and the screen becomes a bit hot.. and i already flashed the OS once, .... is this ok.. coz you told me for an ambient temp around 35, mine was just 30 and i'm hitting these temps, what is happening, what might be the issue?

My big cluster is not stuck, but all the cored vary rapidly even for small usage, i browse some time, the cores stay below 1000, suddenly goes max for 2/3 seconds, then be 1500, then it comes down, and again the same repeats.. why is happening any clue?
see just usinng whatsapp, and see hoe the frequencies varying.
Run 'top' command in a terminal app (I.e. Termux), when you get heat spikes, to see what process has high cpu utilization. In the terminal app with top running, press the (hardware) back button once to get rid of the keyboard, then turn the screen to landscape mode to identify the app/processes with high cpu usage.

Overheating issue (80c)

When i play pubg at hdr/ultra fps settings the phone manages to reach 80c (even 90c) after a couple of minutes of gameplay, it starts to throttle in like 20m (fps drops from constant 45fps to 14fps) thats according to antutu cpu temps, since on my device when i go to cpu z it shows no thermal data so i dont know really how accurate those temperatures are (sometimes it shows that the cpu temp is at 75c but after a second or two it shows that it is at 65c, but they may be not so wrong since the phone feels really, really hot.
something i want to point out (just in case) is that, compared to most rn8pro antutu scores (280000) my phone gets to 294554 points, maybe they underclocked some models to make them run cooler? i dont really know
this seems kinda weird since a lot of reviewers were getting less than 45c in their testings, any ideas on why this is happening and how to solve it? im on miui 11.0.6 global (begonia)
Well I don't personally play that game, but if you have it at ultra fps which I am assuming is the highest setting, then you should expect some heating which is perfectly normal. The fact that the fps decrease automatically tells you the phone is doing what it needs to decrease the temperature. Another thing to note is that if you are playing a game and charging the phone at the same time that will cause heating too, but again like I said you shouldn't worry about it. We have "smart"phones they know what they are doing?
Sounds like the phone has hardware issue. I have no throttle or heating issues when playing pubg on my global model.

The only thing you could try is to go into game speed booster app under security app and enable performance optimisation. It says something with avoid overheating.
You don't have warranty? It really sounds like something is wrong with the hardware because it should not be possible to go this high without the phone shutting itself off. It should start to throttle way before you reach such high temps.
Check with cpufloat app to make sure the app you use to read temps isn't reading them wrong.

on games that are locked at 30fps it will perform fine, for the most part, for me if i go past 30fps the phone starts to heat up more and thus even if it doesnt throttle that much (it does, not a lot but it does), it feels h o t to the touch.
Now, im just speaking of the specific unit i have, since other people can game on it with no problems, but for me im kinda disappointed and not really sure what to do with this device.

yep, antutu was reading the temps wrong, i used the app you specified and i got 60c after playing a couple of matchs of PUBG with the graphics set to the highest i could, even tho it feels hot to the touch and throttles from 45avg fps to 13fps, so yeah redardless of the temps it is indeed, overheating, idk what to do with it since rom development isnt looking so bright so far..

Question Screen on Time

Hi Everyone,
The F62/M62 is a battery champ for sure, but a lot of reviews indicate that the efficiency is not as great as the M51 with the 730G. Please post your screen on time so that everyone could benefit from it.
PS: I saw in the M51 thread that people were getting 15+ hours of screen on time by disabling a lot of useless apps using Samsung Package disabler pro. Has anyone tried something similar on F62?
Cheers!
Following. I get 17hrs+ on my M51 with Greenify and certain apps disabled. Interested to see how F62 performs in comparison.

I am getting 10hr of screen on time on average on Samsung f62.
Cons :
Other then that I face random heating near camera
GPU is not that powerfull, Jitters while playing in full graphics : cod, pubg, asphalt 9.
It took 2 hrs to charge the phone.
No system app lock.
Pros :
Display is awesome.
Camera is superb in daylight images.
Full Knox support
Waiting for custom ROMs.
Hi everyone,
Just got a new F62 but I don't find this to be a battery champ. I hardly get any screen on time and the usual brightness is just good enough to see the screen in the dark. Attached is my battery usage. (working from home don't need high brightness). Not entirely sure if this is an issue with my device or if I'm missing something that I should be doing (removing useless apps and installing greenify)

Exactly.... i have samsung f62 device. The battery backup is just fab. When it comes to gpu at starting while playing a high end game like asphalt or cod the performance was about 60 fps. Gradually devices gets to heat up and the cpu tends to be slower like it literally drops to 30 in order to reduce heat and yhats a bad thing in this software as of mi and oppo phones the software won't reduce cpu speed even when device gets hot but thats not safe anyway as it may explode. So what's the thing? Nothing just wait for the update of play those high end games in a cool place where cpu gets cooler even when gpu is hot

Lol. I don’t even own this phone anymore. Gone back to using the weak note 20 ultra battery.
So far I've managed 10hr 14min with 26% battery still remaining.
That was 2:30hr using Google nav on max brightness. The rest was mostly watching YouTube with mid brightness. I use digital wellbeing to measure my screen time.
Note: My phone is running the latest F62 firmware and I have partially debloaded my phone with ADB
I am getting 10 Hr average SOT with a full charge, almost 10% drop overnight. Software is poorly optimized. Samsung is doing nothing about it. My phone is under the Flipkart Smart Upgrade Plan so I can't even do anything. This is not the performance of a 7000mah battery, I thought the heavyweight was a tradeoff but it's not. Feel cheated.
I can do between 13 and 16 hours of screen time, if I turn on power saving, limit CPU by 70%, reduce brightness by 10%, I get more than 15 hours easy! I also disabled some apps, which maybe helped the autonomy!

Question Oneplus heavily throttling well known apps

Anandtech released this article:
Examining OnePlus' Performance Behaviour: Optimization or Misrepresentation?

Basically Oneplus has a list of most used applications and in them it throttles CPU usage heavily by DISABLING the X1 entirely or underclocking it.
For example the phone only gets 10% of the performance in Chrome compared to other Snapdragon 888 phones.
I was wondering if there is a workaround for this?

Custom roms are using some of the oneplus kernel code in order to make it compatible, but those parts of the functionality might not be present in something like LineageOS or crDroid. Haven't checked though. This is an interesting find, I imagine it's a power usage adaptation.
Update: I am testing these benchmarks now on my crDroid install, will report back results

Running the latest build of crDroid, and keep in mind I have plenty of apps installed so your mileage may vary, I score 84.6 in speedtest 2.0 on chrome (chrome is heavy so I'm not surprised it scores lower than vivaldi). Surprisingly I score 94.744 on jetstream 2, which is higher than vivaldi scored on OOS in the article you linked.
Hope this helps!

Nice! Thanks for testing it and finding a viable workaround for this.
Guess the other solution would be to fork the kernel and remove or change the code regarding this QoS/Throttling in apps, the Anandtech article actually linked to it in github where the culprit may be.

Welcome to XDA
The article doesn't seem to mention how the test phone was configured. I'm always skim reading so I may have missed it but configuration should be the first consideration.
Disable all power management and optimization... destroyer of worlds.
Some of the power management features you may want to use, most seem to only cause erratic behavior and even increased battery usage. Nothing's for free.
Dependencies... remember many services and akps are intertwined and dependent on others. One small change can cause big far reaching consequences.
This issue may not be caused by the above but it's worth a shot to play with the power settings configuration.
Androids are like bad gf's, they wuv to be played with
By the way, in Chrome there also is a flag #cpu-affinity-restrict-to-little-cores if anyone didn't know.
chrome://flags/#cpu-affinity-restrict-to-little-cores
It's a kind of power management "feature" which the user can't alter.
Neither is changing Chrome flags going to do anything.
The only way to counter this without changing the kernel or ROM is by spoofing the APK but then you lose 120hz because ALL of this is based on lists embedded in OP OS framework.

Will using a different Chrome based browser help or is it an equal opportunity Chrome hater?

Yeah, in the article they used Vivaldi which is a Chromium based browser and scored 10x more than in regular chrome. But it'll force you to 60hz unfortunately...

One thing I don't like about stock Androids is unlike Windows you can't easily modify things at the core level.
I crashed and burned quit a few XP OS clones playing in the registry... fun times
This makes perfect sense. I came from the S21 and that thing was fast. Now since using the OP9pro, its noticably laggy. I was scratching my head on it for a while. Thanks!
Don't worry guys. A nice fix is on the way soon. Omega kernel developer already has a test build that we are testing that does away with this BS throttling. Phone feels amazing now.

I was literally just coming on to ask what we were doing about this. This would be well worth rooting for. Cheers!
Will this still allow 120Hz on the supported apps?

I just installed it and it seems to work and the issue is gone!
Ran Speedometer on Chrome to test:

After further testing I can see that the X1 core doesn't reach it's maximum clock of 2.8GHz but stops at 2.3GHz in Chrome.
Something else is limiting Chrome from reaching the maximum potential of the CPU which is not happening in Vivaldi. If that limitation was lifted then score of ~100 should be possible in Speedometer test and that would be on par with other 888 phones.
Very shady of OnePlus.
Finally I managed to find the ROM side of throttling and removed it, now we have full performance in Chrome stable (and ALL other blacklisted apps)! No more CPU freq throttling and Speedometer score of 115

Would you care to share how all of us can make these adjustments within oxygen os, if that's even possible?
