This is just a minor issues/easy fixes thread, if you have major problems take it to the LIH leak thread.
* ADB isn't a member of sdcard_r, so it has no access to /storage/sdcard. /storage is part of the root filesystem which is dynamically generated by init.qcom.rc in the boot.img, which makes changing it an "exciting" adventure. Maybe it's easier to get adb to run in the sdcard_r group, I dunno.
* Two fonts aren't actually fonts, just text files (DroidSans.ttf and DroidSans-Bold.ttf)
* They put back the windmill screensaver (Yay!) but it insta-crashes trying to load the above fonts (ffff). Easy to fix - just copy Roboto-Regular.ttf to DroidSans and Roboto-Bold to DroidSansBold and it all works again.
* THEY TOOK AWAY NATIVE SIP. F**k samsung hard for that, it worked really well in ICS.
* Lots of settings toggles missing by default - airplane mode is buried in settings instead of being a nice easy toggle, data mode is gone entirely, etc. Looks like that's easy enough to fix but it's really annoying for stock.
* Dropbox integration seems broken compared to ICS, perhaps because it comes with two conflcting dropbox .apks? (They both reside in the same namespace for some reason.) Haven't worked particularly hard on fixing that yet, since camera uploads work just fine.

Pardon my ignorance, what is native SIP? Is that for VOIP, and are you saying they disabled video chat functionality? Quick toggle for airplane mode: hold down power button.
Nfc doesnt seem transfer from my trial if it works 4 you...pass it on!

??? How did you even come up with video chat?
VoIP = Voice over IP. Could be a lot of different things, from something standard like SIP to propertary like Microsoft Skype.
The problem with airplane mode is if I'm in a cell-dead area but have wifi I can't turn off my CDMA and leave wifi on, which I used to be able to do.
Found a new and exciting one: adb somehow picked up a umask of 0077 which makes it impossible for adb install to work. WHO THE **** LETS **** LIKE THAT PAST QA?

Did you install this without clearing data first? I ask because I don't have either the phantom fonts or the problem with dropbox. Seems like both could be caused by writing over existing versions of the files.
Look how wrong you are. Try browsing the LIH zip - the fonts are wrong in it from the factory. Dropbox seems to have resolved itself at least - there's still two instances in /system but maybe they just couldn't manage to make a complete app in one .apk? Who knows.

I would hope minor nits like "cannot install packages via USB" would be noticed by the devs, not punted to QA. That's the kind of thing that pisses devs off. Anyway, I said f it and wrote a wrapper to replace adbd and fix the umask. I suppose I could also hack umask fixing into the adbd binary but that's too much effort.
And a new one!
E/ThermalDaemon( 2632): Failed to parse config file '/system/etc/thermald.conf'

It looks like they squashed all their symlinks into text files in the packaging process. Making it into a symlink to the named file fixes the error. Wonder how many more of those there are?
Hey just to pre-empt the inevitable "hurf durf did you wipe your phone" post:

Boy it's almost like it's wrong from the update itself!
Of course, since it was leaked by someone and never intended for public consumption...... Need I say more?
Hopefully we'll get the next couple of leaks and see if things improve.

Not just exchange. This affects any email accounts in the Samsung email app.

There are a few things that I can mention if I can remember them. The one thing that I can remember is sometimes when you hit the volume up or down button, it will increase or decrease the volume after some delay and the actual volume panel gui is delayed.
Some voice calls are very loud. Even changing the volume while on the call doesnt make a difference.
Here's another one. This isn't really a bug but more of a known Sprint nonsense crap that they do to us. Stock ROMS do not show 1X only 3G/4G.

I had this very same issue. I was using the Jelly Bean stock keyboard that I downloaded from the Play Store. Switch back to the Samsung keyboard and you should be good. Swype works as well, for some reason any other keyboard doesn't allow line changing in the "Email"(Not Gmail) app.

This is because you have the extra volume turned on/active. Try to make a call and you will see that there is a circular icon around the mid-right of the screen. Hit it and that should disable extra volume and you should be able to control call volumes with your hardware keys.
One issue that I have and can't seem to get around is related to the following apps :
- Gmail(1 account)
- Email(4 accounts)
- Google Voice
- Default Messaging app.
I haven't narrowed it down, but it either is at every reboot or whenever I to into silent mode and back out of it, then I lose all my ringtone settings. Basically, the emails and GV are set to silent and the messaging app goes to the default notification tone. Any clues? I am a flash-aholic, and would have sworn that I saw something about profiles... Maybe not for the LIF leak, huh?
There are some issues I've run into using the LIH leak. Please forgive me if they have been addressed or fixed in another thread:
*Swype doesn't skip spaces when entering text in Dolphin Browser (also heard this occurs in other browsers)
*Vibration Intensity setting only changes for stock keyboard. 3rd party keyboards either can have no haptic feedback or haptic feedback with max vibration.
*Plugging headphones in doesn't show apps in notification bar after choosing setting to have them do so
*Sound occasionally makes a faint pop (typical right before unlock sound or before other system sounds)
The following issues I assume would just be issues with their respective developers, GO Launcher Ex and Dolphin, which I will send to them if they occur after the final release of JB, but just in case any of you using a different launcher, browser, etc. or stock yet have the same issue I will post them anyway:
*In GO Launcher Ex, scrolling to different home screens sometimes causes widgets to briefly look like old color TVs when all they would show was a static. Usually occurs if widgets haven't been drawn in awhile.
*When browsing using Dolphin Browser, copy/cut/paste doesn't work all the time as it should (i.e. long-pressing a word doesn't bring up the edit icons.
*Pressing Home button to wake phone goes to home screen rather than any current app user is using.
Hi,
I am new posting in the forum, i am a defy usser too of course, i bought my defy to another user time ago with CM7
and until now i did not updated as i was a bit scary,
i updated reading the guide and success in first attempt on eerything,
such a difference from 2.3! finnally the scroll works quite smooth between screen, i gues its something already pressent since 4.1 with project butter and so on,
however i must say
1) look like its a bit slower, it reacts a tiny litle bit laggy is show some menus, is not just instant response sometimes, but nothing to really complain a lot it work quite well, Quarx is making such a big effort and time investing in keep our Defy's alive that i just need to mention it and say lottt of hanks,
2º) I bought a Jiayu G2F for my mother (it works damn quick) and it found they added an option to record the radio sound, and i was expecting to find such options also available in 4.4 but i did not, its there any way to record radio sound or maybe add this option to future versions?
3º) I was a bit scared to update to 4.4 due the fact that usually new O.S. ask for heavy resources, but after read that 4.4 was supossedly more optimized for low hardware, then i tought it should maybe even take less ram than andoird 2.3, and now that i have it installed i see it takes quite a lot, its over 4XX mb with almost nothing opened, is that normal?
4º) What about the option to select in the screen the zone you want the camera to focus? i found its pressent in the G2F mentioned above, and i dont find it in the 4.4, is the hability to focus determined zones of the camera something just possible in case that the camera hardware allow it? or its a software related function?
5º) I installed kitkat with minimal gapps, and once verything working i installed google voice, but i still don't success to add the microfon in the keyboard in order to write anywere while talking,
well, in fact i did, as when i press "," keyabord it appears a pop up menu with the microfon but it just dont work when i select it that way
in cm7 i remember to have a dedicated button that always worked andi miss it, maybe some one can help me there
6º) If i have the config menu opened and then i open the top bar slide down menu and i change some option from there, like enable bluetooth, i close the slide menu and i see in the config menu that the button is still "off"
i must close and open again the config menu in order to see it "on" if i enable it from the other menu,
could be nice to make it auto to update so everything takes works and updates at same time and avoide confusions,
thanks
While trying to check all the new options i see, i just found a bug in the stock launcher,
looks like its called Trebuchet,
If you open the launcher options and lick in the 3 dots over "Widgets" you get some extra options to play with
if you select "CM HOME" in the 2º option, the launcher will enter in the loop hope of errors and will not allow you to come back,
you must go to applications and search for "Trebuchet" and then press "remove data" of this application,
it will come to alive again,
can anyone confirm this bug? i did not find it in the bug list and i am not allowed to post in the developers forum yet

It was confirmed a week back, but not yet added to the buglist.
how its possible android or cyanogenmode still got lack of a feature to record calls by default?
the new options menu to touch camera settings is something related to 4.4 or to CM11 ? its so unconfortable as you can't go back to change other options, it force you to re open it again, its minimallist and compact, but no sense to have such minimalist menu for an option that always end up removed to make the foto,
i also feel the battery drains quicker with 4.4 that with 2.3
In my opinion the CM7.2 is the most stable ROM for Defy, the CM1x are still under development
yes it was working more quick everything,
not smooth, was jerky but at least moved over menus and open applications quite a bit more quick,
thats sad, i expected better performance in newer versions,
overall... there is not any way to make the defy run as it should, it more powerfull than my old celeron 500 mhz and is not yet enough for move android... i guess theproblem is the software, like always, if anroid were programed in ASM, everything would fly... no need for quad cores, octa cores and so on...
I'm not sure that newer version could be faster. Newer version have more and more functions, more advanced GUI, more features - but CPU/GPU/memory remains this same, old one..

So I have installed the update and did some quick benchmarks before and after the update. Interesting results. So naturally the benchmarks that happened in the morning were before I installed the update and the ones in the afternoon were after I installed the update.
As for the battery benchmark, I simply ran each test for 1 hour 10 minutes. So yea, the new update provided better battery performance but worse single core... by a little. Multi-core was a tad better with the new update. This of course is not all inclusive results, as I only ran one benchmark, and that has no indication of real-life performance. If I don't notice anything drastic in the next few days, I won't post anything else here, otherwise I will keep you posted.

I ran geekbench yesterday and did not see any real difference in singlecore or multicore performance (both +- about 5 points difference to last firmware).
Auto-brightness works much better now. Also it looks like "GPS icon staying forever" bug is gone for me.
Smart lock option is empty in my sony Xperia xz1? What should I do?
EDIT:
I was able to find the answer here: Yes, I would continue to receive OTA updates for the currently installed firmware.
Original question:
Having purchased the XZ1C in the USA, if I were to flash the ...12.75 Customised DE (for instance), would I no longer receive subsequent OTA updates? Thanks.
Hello
Update installed this evening (French time).
Good news, the update file is only 112Mo to download OTA.
some new functionalities:
contact shortcuts have a small contact icon
URL shorcut looks like a Windows shorcut, with a small black Arrow at the bottom.
I have to test more now.

Disable Smart Lock (Google) in Trust agents, reboot, enable again. Should make Smart Lock available again, but it may (probably will) go blank again.

Someone just say "Adoptable storage" or ability to move to SD card and it will be okay for me to never update my phone again!
On reboot, persistent GPS icon will not appear until certain applications make use of GPS-based location services (don't know which ones at this point). If the persistent GPS icon does appear, you cannot get rid of it until you reboot. I understand Sony is working on a fix.

The Kernel hasn't been updated in this release at all.
With this new firmware, I'm havin a weird problem.
Every time I reboot, the stock Sony weather widget needs to set location, EVERYTIME.
Is it just me...?
FWIW, No problems with Sony weather app setting location on my phone.
+1
No problems with the weather app here
Thanks!

Great! It worked for me. Thanks!
I wanted to try a different firmware, because of this bug...
Anyone else having problems with the stock clock app? It force closes when I try to open it (only on this firmware). The lockscreen clock and upper right corner of the status bar are unaffected - it's just the app that includes the alarm, timer, stopwatch, etc. I've worked around it by just using Timely for my alarm and stopwatch needs, but it would be nice to have the stock clock working.
No problem for me.
I just got the XZ1 (new from eBay), it had 47.1.A.2.313, I've updated to 47.1.A.12.34, looks good so far, and, this is Android 8.0.0.
I know there is at least one more update, perhaps the 47.1.A.12.75 mentioned in this thread. Is that Android 9.0.0?
I'll update to that, but not now, I'm using my phone. Is there any big change to the latest version?
This is my first Sony phone, since I used a Sony-Ericsson a long time ago.
Seen some screenshots of people's home screen and the weather/temperature were also displayed together with the current date.
Mine only displays the date. even though the weather is enabled in the settings.
I thought maybe it was because my Location History was disabled in my Google account and I enabled it, open my Location and restarted my phone. However, the weather is still not yet displayed.
Anyone also experiencing/experienced this?
Were you able to solve it?
Man, Android 12 is just busted, I had it the other day when I wasn't rooted and I think a bit yesterday after resetting and rooting but now it's gone, and all of the options in at a glance are missing. It's a commonly known bug since the beta, and there are some fixes that work for some people but none of them work for me, only other option is a factory reset and man I just got all my stuff set up finally just to have to go through it again tomorrow probably

It seems to also mess a bit with other at a glance info which also shows up in the Google panel to the left in the home screen. My weather app also seems to be missing so I'll probably reset tomorrow much to my dismay.
Hi everybody !
Same problem here. At first, when I received my phone the At a glance widget doesn't show weather on main screen and lock screen. I finally make a factory reset and weather works like a charm for two days until this morning... and then, it's missing again !
I already tried to reboot my phone, open weather app separately and refresh it many times, nothing works.
You may notice that with the old widget (which you can add manually on your homescreen), the weather icon is working .
Can someone please help me ?
Thanks in advance.

Yes I noticed that too.
But I see lot of people with their widget working fine in this Pixel 6 forums (when they share their homescreen for example) so I thought this is more rare with Pixel 6.

Android 12 has been a buggy mess from the beginning. Google ironed out about 25 of the 100 known bugs, and when they released the phone, another 30 bugs came added on top.
Welcome to the 21st century beta-tester realm, where people cash out a grand and still have to play betatester free of charge, after buying an expensive tech product.
There are so many services and apps broken... my outlook still doesn't even want to show one singular E-Mail.. I have to revert to GMail to get anything moving...
Not to mention that the new UI is a joke and the notification panel is a joke and the settings menu now looks like something made by a color blind; on top of that? Now, even the old functions (the ones we already had!) are often or not broken. Google managed to botch this release of Android harder than even Microsoft botched W11, and that one is still a terribly buggy mess.
I already talked to Google about this and the only thing they stated about the third-party problems is "blabla, apps might need to be manually updated by the blablabla" - aha, and you mind telling me, why we had months and months of firmware testing and still even the big players like Microsoft won't even give a singular flying f*** to at least make their most basic apps function on a - well - most basic level? That's as much Googles fault as anyone else's. If your customers have a broken product because your marketplace players don't give a **** about your rules, you enforce those.
Just remember the Pixel 4 faceunlock API disaster... UP TO THIS POINT ABOUT 95% OF ALL APPS THAT OFFER FINGERPRINT UNLOCKING, DO NOT SUPPORT FACEUNLOCK!
I mean everybody here with a functioning brain knows why Google delayed Android 12 over and over again, and still all we got is a buggy mess.
Back to the drawing board, Google.
And stay there, until you come up with something good.
And by the way, give us back our beautiful Android 11 interface.
My eyes are functioning well, thank you. No need to have icons the size of the moon. And even if my eyes won't function well any more at some point, I'd rather get glasses, instead of making my phone's UI ugly and terribly looking.
I had noticed the other day my weather wasn't showing up in at-a-glance but it is right now, and I haven't rooted or done anything except possibly reboot at some point.
Hey guys, try the solutions in this thread. I've done this on my 4a5g and it works, so far going on 3 days straight. Only thing is that the temperature doesn't update as often but if you click on the widget it does. Hopefully we will see this fixed in the next update.

Yes, CUSTOMIZED EEA 62.1.A.0.533 (Android 12) was released ( https://xpericheck.com/XQ-BT52 ) 4 days ago, but according to the phone update check and Xperia Companion, no software update is available. Phone is using stock firmware, WiFi/4G is available and I have made several restarts. However when CUSTOMIZED EEA 62.0.A.9.11 (Android 11 update) was released month ago, I got it right away, at the same release day.
Based Reddit, a lot users are facing same problem. Some say that software repair using the Xperia Companion pushes update to phone. But I don't want to and I don't have time to reset my phone and set up everything, including every app settings from scratch.

it is folklore, no such need at all.
I have received the update (62.1.A.0.533) this morning.
Installation took around 45 minutes.
Haven't had any technical issues per se so far, but am still struggling with the look and feel of Android 12.
i have been using the phone for almost a week now after the new update (62.1.A.0.533), i haven't done any factory resets, here is what i noticed:
1. Battery is draining a lot faster than Android 11
2. UI is a bit bulky, especially the toggle buttons. Definitely preferred Android 11
3. Screen Mirroring is not working for me. WFD service keeps crashing (that's a major issue because i mirror all my videos)
4. I had previously mapped the power button (click twice) to GCAM. Now it's not working. Only works with the stock Camera
Overall, a negative experience. I would not recommend the update.
If anyone else is facing issues please let me know

I have received the update (62.1.A.0.533) this morning.
Installation took around 45 minutes.
Haven't had any technical issues per se so far, but am still struggling with the look and feel of Android 12.

Post some screenshots of Android 12 on your Xperia, please.
Do you have separate toggles for wifi and mobile internet?
@Elberens, the same question for you too )
Hi guys, please keep us informed on how Android 12 behaves on the Xperia 10 III.
Hope that the battery drain reported by Elberens is just an isolated case, did you realized what is causing the drain? The app Better Battery Stats can help in detecting the cause of an abnormal power consumption:

I started BetterBatteryStats because I was missing the great battery history that Spare Parts allowed to call on Froyo. It has been a long journey since the first version. BetterBatteryStats provides an insight in following categories: - General...

I got the update notification yesterday and installed last night. So far I'm not having any technical or performance issues. All seems to be working. Still, I find the new UI a big step backwards in comparison to Android 11. Everything is so much bigger (menus, quick settings) using lots of dead space.
There aren't separate toggles for Wi-Fi and Mobile Data internet. You can't turn on or off with one tap. You have to open a submenu now...
The quick settings toggles are way bigger. You get only 4 in two lines when sliding down (or 8 if you slide with two fingers or twice). Which means that you will be needing an extra step for some actions.
I'm missing the functionality where on Android 11 I could use Google pay right away when holding the power button. Now there is a toggle in the quick settings instead (again extra step to use). Instead there is just a restart, shutdown and emergency menu if you hold the power button.
I don't get the new features of android 12 or it just doesn't seem to make a difference for my uses. The new bigger quick settings are annoying for me and if I had known before, I wouldn't have updated. If there was an easy way to roll back to 11 I would happily do it. But I guess I can't do that without flashing an older firmware on the phone. Maybe a future update would allow to make the quick menus a bit smaller?

I've read somewhere that after factory reset the separate toggles for wifi and mobile data internet would show up.
::edit::
Sony's Android 12 update has separate toggles for Wi-Fi and Data, but only if you factory reset
The Android 12 update for the Sony Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III ships with separate toggles for Wi-Fi and mobile data.

another way:
[....] if you want to get back a dedicated button to toggle your Wi-Fi, Mishaal Rahman shared a command on Twitter that you can execute via adb to get it back.
adb shell settings put secure sysui_qs_tiles "$(settings get secure sysui_qs_tiles),wifi"
Right this morning I got the message of a System Update from Sony (I live in Italy).
I think I'll wait some days before update, would be like to read more feedbacks on how the device behaves under Android 12, in particular concerning the battery draining, I quite happy with my Xperia 10 III that overnight (9pm to 8am) drains just a ridiculous 3%.

1) Recheck again app -s permissions, disable or uninstall unwanted ones, disable location wifi/bluetooth scan and wait for few days until the battery is calibrated and user habits/trends are known for the operating system.
Also You may try enable system cached apps under developer options -

2) It can't be changed, and you have to get used to it and hope that some update will fix/change it.
3) This is something new.
4) Have You tried XPERI+ for remap - https://github.com/ivaniskandar/shouko
You must agree this is a rather ingenious way of getting people to update their systems regularly. You're not told beforehand what the update changes, and only afterwards do you notice that the update was a downgrade in every single aspect. You want to swear that you'll never install a system update ever again, yet you know that you will have to do just that in the hopes that eventually some update will fix what the previous ones broke.
I must admit as much I agree that a proper changelog should be displayed before any update, I do like that android 12 update. Getting older (ok, I'm not that old) I'm pretty happy with the bigger/new layout

On the stock Android 11 you can make the UI big from Settings > Display > Display size. This is in addition to and separate from Settings > Display > Font size. So I still think the forced size in Android 12 was not necessary...
I updated my device on Saturday, everything went OK. I'm rather satisfied with the new UI, display size and font size can be adjusted as in Android 11, some aspects are nice, some others less, on the other hand it's impossible to create a UI that is good for everybody. There are a lot of launchers and ways to customize the appearance of a smartphone, so this is not a problem in my view. Apart from the graphical aspect, Android 12 brings new interesting features and I think this is more important.
I appreciate that Sony kept the media volume steps equal to 30, which is finer enough for listening music. At the moment, the power usage seems to be as before, my device drained only 3% overnight (9pm to 8am) as with android 11, and that's great.
The smartphone seems responsive and fluid, I didn't explored all the functionalities yet, but I would say that this update is OK.
Is it just me or do apps 'reload' more often after the update? I feel like caching of background apps is worse but I'm not sure.
Other than that and the combined internet toggle, this update is alright.
The overall app managing should be more optimized in Android 12, however you could try the above mentioned option in the Developer settings (suspend execution of cached app).
There are just a couple of commands to be sent via ADB the to restore separate wifi/mobile toggles, I'm waiting to see how is to deal with the combined internet one.

Noticed this too. For example, if I use "Simple Gallery Pro" from F-Droid to browse through some videos and I open a video with Kodi, then after I'm done watching the video and return to the Simple Gallery app, it will often reload, forcing me to navigate the folder structure once again.
I didn't have this issue with Android 11 - returning to the gallery app would bring me back to where I left when Kodi was launched. I'll try changing that setting mentioned above by @code010101 to see if it helps.
