I had Samsung S7, backed up all to microSD card, using SmartSwitch. Copied the backed up directory to PC. I needed a battery replacement, but the S7 completely burned out during repair. I bought S22 (no microSD slot) and would like to restore the settings and apps. Any advice, please?

Can anyone tell me what the settings should be on my Galaxy S3 in order to save a Titanium backup to the external SD card? While I had Titanium and used it on my HTC Sensation without a problem, I have encountered that when I have it on my T-mo Galaxy SIII, it saves the backups to the internal 16 GB memory by default, not the SD card. This is a problem because the backup is erased when I instal a new ROM and wipe the partition. Recently I installed a new ROM and found out that when I went to recover all my apps they were gone and were not on my SD card backed up (even though I had ran it and completed a backup). My pics and videos were still on the SD card so I know that it was not formatted itself when I installed the new ROM.
My current backup folder shows as: /mnt/sdcard/TitaniumBackup
Should it be something else in order to save to my external 64 GB SDCard? Should any other settings be changed to something else? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

That should be the right folder. /sdcard/ refers to the external microSD for our phones. I just checked my TI settings and that's the same folder I use.
In your 64gb micro SD create a folder called "TitaniumBackup" <----this is very important!
Then open up Titanium Backup app and hit menu button, then go to Preferences.
Scroll down and select *Backup folder location.
Press "Detect", then "Whole device".
Once its done you will see /mnt/extSdCard/Titaniumbackup in the list. Select it. (the other one is gonna be /mnt/titaniumbackup thats internal sd)
Then select "Use the current folder".
If it asks you to transfer data you can which will transfer your existing back in the internal to the new one. Up to you. Or you can just start a whole new backup which will now store in you micro sd card.

Wrong
it's /mnt/extSDcard
Or you can connect your phone to your computer and pull the titanium backup folder from your phone for safe keeping while you flash. Then once everything is booted up again you can reconnect and drag and drop the folder back on the phone.
I have a brand new Tab S 8.4, received today. I discovered that I cannot write to or erase the external SD card with 1 exception. I can only perform operations on the external SD card if 1) I do it via MTP from my laptop or 2) using Samsung built-in apps For example, I can copy/rename/delete/etc. files using Samsung's My Files app and I can save pictures from the camera to the external SD card. Most downloaded apps (like cameras, document editors, browsers, etc.) will not save to the external SD card. To be clear, I can copy and move files FROM the external SD card using apps such as ES File Explorer.
I tried reformatting the SD card, even tried other SD cards, always the same result. Is there something wrong with my device or the stock firmware? The tab is pretty useless to me without ability to write to the SD card and I don't really like being limited to the stock apps. So, is this something I can fix, that Samsung can fix, or do I have a lemon?

OK, did that. All I learned is that I have to root the tab which I hadn't planned on doing. Grrrrrr. Luckily, I am technical enough to do it, but most buyers are not. IMO Samsung should be pushing back hard on Google about this. It involves tens of millions of their customers, plus those of all the other manufacturers as well. These devices ain't cheap, so if I spend my money on one, I want it to work as expected with stock software. There's no point in Google singing the glories of KK and beyond if the OS doesn't do what a normal userI needs it too. When LG did its OTA update to KK for the G Pad 8.3, it allowed writing to the external SD, proving it can be done from the device provider.
it just not with samsung... the problem are with kitkat. so every device that use kitkat will have the same problem. LG/MOTO/TC/whatever android device also got the same problem. except some play smart and include the edited platform.xml into their device.

At least via the Samsung-provided apps (camera, browser, file manager) it's possible to write to and erase from the external SD card. Still, it's a sad state of affairs this far into the Android game. And this business with tripping the knox counter when rooting really is annoying. I wonder what Apple offers these days ?

The same thing since they release the idevice. Lolz

Hello all; I just got the T-mobile Tab S LTE variant, SM-T807T, and I am/was absolutely loving it.
then 30 minutes ago...
I inserted my SD card from my nook, a 64GB card with about 55GB worth of comics, music, ebooks and photos. At first no app could see anything on the card (although the Storage menu in the Tab's settings showed the correct space and how much was full).
Rebooted and I could see all my pictures using my favorite galary app, QuickPic.
However, some files wouldn't open so I unmounted the card through the menu, took it out, inserted it back in and no files show up at all.... OK
Rebooted the tablet and now it looks like I lost about 30GB of files! the "comics" "ebooks" "music" folders are all completely gone. and almost all folders are gone from my "photos" folder. I unmounted the card and put it into the PC and same thing.
Some folders are still there with a few files here and there.
I'm pretty devastated. The SD card worked this morning in my nook and I have been organizing comics on it for months.
I will try recovery software when I get home but this is awful and so much time is lost on the organization of the folders. That's assuming I can even recover the files. Anyone have any suggestions?
My tab is unrooted (couldn't find T807T root anywhere) and 2 days old. Should I return it or could it be my card or stock KitKat or what?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Update:
While I'm not sure what exactly went wrong, my LOST.dir folder had over 20GB worth of files in it so I used "MiniTool Power Data Recovery" to scan the card and was able to find all the files and restore them to my desktop in proper directory hierarchy and file names (which if you've ever used data recovery software you'll know is quite rare). I had the software from before when I had some SD failure in my dSLR (I'm sensing a pattern here, and I actually invest in good branded cards!) and the program worked perfectly.

Exactly don't use them cheap cards they are crap
I did use a branded card, Team 64GB SDXC from newegg. I always get cards with reviews form reliable sources.
update:
After reformatting the card in the tablet, and moving all the files back to it and trying to use it in the Tab S it still wouldn't work. It wouldn't delete my files anymore but it had a very strange behavior whereas I could see the card's contents for about 20 seconds after mounting it but then everything would disappear completely. The used/free capacity would still show accurately in the Storage settings tab but I could not access any of the data through any programs (including Samsung's My Files).
Funny enough, I had the same sd card in my phone (same brand/model/capacity) and that one works fine in the tab. My phone (galaxy note 2) reads both so i swapped them.
Everything running smoothly now, except of course for Google's douche move to disable write to sd card in 4.4.2. I hope root for the SM-T807T comes soon...
I just realized that any files I write to my external 64GB SD card are not there. Seems to have been happening since June 1. Anything I copy from internal storage or over USB (or Titanium or Nandroid backup, I was shocked to find) appears to copy successfully, but is not there when I check.
My SD card is about 2.5 years old. Could it be going bad. or maybe I just need to reformat? Anyone else experience this? Happens in TW and CM roms (and in recovery).
I was able to copy off all my data. Is there a tool I can use to test the card?
Thanks for any input,
Mike

Well it turns out to be un-writeable in my PC as well. Can't format, re-partition, etc. Ordered a new one (Samsung for $24 @ amazon).
I have a SanDisk 128gb sd card that I used in my exynos s7 for a couple years with no problem. I just got a snapdragon s9, and a couple days after I put my sd card in it, it started corrupting. I got a new 200gb and have been transferring folder by folder to save my data, which the corrupted files interrupt the transfer. I have 200,000 files. This has been a major pain.
My question is, was it coincidence that my sd card crapped out when I got the s9? Or not? (Yeah, I searched for a bit (but not too much) before posting)

Mine does the same every time I take it out of the phone and put it back in, all I need to do to fix it is put it in a PC (Card reader) and scan it for errors, it comes back OK, then when I put it back in the phone it's fine
Also used to have that card in a Exynos S7 and have not formatted it since

I know you can use a pc to run chkdsk or scan for errors. I'm working in the middle of nowhere with no pc access. I just have the s7 with a rusted out usb and s9. I couldn't find a chkdsk type app to run on the phone.

Have you looked at aParted, I think that's what it's called. It used to have a lot of ads but it would scan a card for errors.
