Hello everyone,
I bought an AT&T 64 GB S6 edge plus and got it unlocked while in Canada by contacting them. The problem is, I have not gotten a single update from them since I got the phone. Whenever I check for an update, it says that the software is up to date which is not true because when you go their website, they had 3 updates since september, one of them being for the Gear VR, and I got none of those. Is there a way to get my phone updated without going to US?

Not sure if its setup like this in Canada, but go to the Samsung dept. in Bestbuy that's where I get my unlocked Samsung phones updated. Takes about 5-10 mins because they already have the software downloaded on their Samsung PC, and it's FREE!!!

My Pixel 2 XL isn't a Verizon one, but the Pixel 2 phones we just got in for work did get 8.1 today.
Still no OTA over dp2 here either... VZW
Can't the Verizon phone use the Google Ota. If so just download the Ota.zip and sideload adb and install it.
I'm on Verizon and still haven't received the update yet.

For various valid reasons, that's not always an option or a preference for some people.

I don't think so. I tried it and it kept failing. Looking at the list of OTAs there are separate 8.0 files for Verizon so I think we need to wait.
Just because they were separate one month, doesn't mean that will be the case the next month. The separate builds might come together into a unified build and then split again the month after.
In the case of the December build, there is one build for all carriers. Verizon's support page has the same build number listed as what's on the Google OTA page. https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/google-pixel-2-xl-update/

I have not, interestingly enough, my wife got it yesterday morning. We have the same exact phone, through Verizon, Pixel 2 XL 128GB. I even try to update manually (through System Update), but I keep getting the same response, "Your system is up to date, Android Version: 8.0.0, Security patch level: November 5, 2017"
Still waiting here. I get message that I'm up to date when using system update, patched to Nov 7th.
Verizon is my carrier, but I bought the non-Verizon 128GB
I'm on DP2 and got my 8.1 final last night. Unlocked from Google on Verizon.
Also, if you bought your phone from Verizon, you CAN sideload the OTA. There were people on here with Verizon bought phones that sideloaded the non-Verizon OTA for the November security update. Plus, some Verizon users have gotten the update. I'm *thinking* Google just released one version this time.

Received update yesterday. I was running DP2, unlocked Google Store version on Vzw network.
I received mine last night.
64GB purchased from Verizon.
Haven't had a chance to test the Bluetooth issues I've been having with my Gear S3 Frontier and my vehicle to see if they have been resolved.
Noticed that once in a while my screen will flash white when I grab it while the Always On display is active(4 times in the past 24 hours). Didn't have that behavior with 8.0.

Considering it's through Verizon I'm surprised your wife got it. Does Verizon now actually allow Google to be in control of the updates instead of Verizon having to approve it?

You got me on that one...and I am still waiting on the update. Just to clarify, got them at Best Buy (each about a month apart), Verizon is my carrier. Then I come to read that some people had ordered the phones, through Verizon last week, received the phone on Monday, and got the update Wednesday...oh well.

It hasn't rolled out to all regions and models yet, your current model latest update is still Oreo, nothing you can do but wait for Samung/Bell

The international s9's have pie now, you'll have to wait till feb 11th to receive it in canada, that's when rogers is rolling it out.

Same man. I have s9+ W variant and i'm exhausted of waiting so long for the new updates. Its like samsung doesn't care about its Canadian users... Considering getting a Oneplus or a Pixel as my next device.

Nothing to do with Canada, no unlocked phones in the US have it and it's still rolling out to the carrier models.
I have a carrier phone( unlocked) in Canada but haven't received any update.
It's not instant and they don't release these updates to every phone on every carrier at the same time. The entire system would be inundated if they did. If you see reports that people on your carrier are getting the update then wait a week or so before you get concerned.

U sure about that. I still feel as if Canadians get left out. We didn't even get a chance at getting the beta for pie while the rest of the world did.

Yep, I've, I've been on the beta since the beginning and even Samsung admits that unlocked phones get it last, it's the way Samsung has always done it. A lot of rhe carrier models are still waiting. In a way it makes sense, in the US at least, only a small percentage of the S9's are unlocked models. Samsung is going to take care of their cash cows first.

Well, if that is true, then Canada is screwed forever as ALL phones sold in Canada have had to be unlocked since 2017.

There is no unlocked model in canada like in the us, they have their own U model, those are the unlucky ones, all canadian phones are W models.
Has anyone received the latest security patch? Mine still says July 1.
I have not. I have the XAA model of the fold 3. I think the only country that received it officially (outside of frija) has been Australia.

I have the 512gb version and it came with F926USQU1AUG9 out of the box, but July security patch..............would think we would have an update by now.
Yeah, don't hold your breath. If you are looking to get the fastest updates, then go with a Pixel Phone. Otherwise, you have to wait for not only the MFG to get it working and approved, you have to get the carriers to give their stamps. That is why these updates are anywhere from Weeks to MONTHS behind. Especially on new or "edge" devices that do not have as high of a user base as these Folding phones do.
Just a fact of life and the same at the 3 carriers I have worked for (corporate, not retail).
Understood. Yeah, Pixel phones are great with always having the latest. My son had a Pixel before I got him the S21, and he always had the latest OS.

I don't know why Sammobile claimed Australia got the update.
The firmware they linked too wasn't an Australian CSC either.
Seems only UAE for an update.
I had a Fold 2 and S21. Security updates was 100% correct. Months after month. It was a DE region with always first updates for all over the world. So now I have DE Fold3 and it stands on Juli. 3 months without sec. update. Im curious.

I have noticed (at least here in the US) that it takes a bit longer to get the ball rolling on new devices.
Who knows, we should get a cumulative update in the end to bring us all current.
VZW might take longer to distribute?

Very untrue. My S21ULTRA has gotten monthly updates as quick as the the pixel. There's definitely something up with the snapdragon fold3. Being behind 2 mos, there's definitely something wrong.

XSA, OPS, TEL, VAU.
The firmware Sammobile claimed to be rolling out down here is listed as unknown with a CSC of UEX.
It took a while, but it's already here.

Yeah, Updates roll out on unlocked and it will normally take a few days before the carrier branded ones get the update. It all depends on how long the carriers hold it before releasing it out to the wild. I anticipate that the branded ones will go out either end of the week or early next week.
That is, if trends hold.
