Question US P6P in the UK signal - Google Pixel 6 Pro

Hi, I'm currently in the UK using my US P6P and the signal is appalling. I'm barely connected. I've tried 2 different UK SIM (EE and 3) and my US SIM and I have 10% uptime and constant disconnects. I'm running A13 QPR2 beta 1. Is there a setting or update I can apply to improve signal in another country?

Global and US versions of the P6P have the same LTE bands. The key difference is the global units only have sub-6 5G and no mmWave. Unfortunately, there really isn't a way to fix the issue as it seems to be related to the service you are using, not the phone.

If in Wales good luck signal in UK is not that great stay away from O2 they are really bad in built up areas also might be worth changing phone from 5g to maybe pick up 4g instead or even 3g

LTE+ (CA) slower than LTE

Howdy.
For quite some time i've found my phone to download quite slow on LTE+ Mobile Network.
LTE+ or LTE Advanced is nothing different than LTE with Carrier Aggregation. This means instead of using a single LTE Stream it will use 2 LTE streams at the same time.
Now my observation with LTE+ is that i get about 5mbps in Speedtest app, while using only one LTE Stream i get about 20-40mbps. Which is like.... utterly nonesene.
So, where does this come from?
A: Because i have a 709 Taiwan device with Taiwan Modem it's not working here in Europe
B: My Antenna is broken.
I've had the exact same behaviour on Stock Rom, LOS and AOSP based ROMs. So i don't think it's a software issue. (and yeah, i did RUU in between)
I've tested this over 6 months in 5 different cities with different ROM/Basebands from 1.92.709.1 onwards to 2.41.709.7 Similar results every time.
I've Changed Sim card from SALT to Swisscom and had LTE+ signal, same issue. 5-10mbps maximum.
Now then. Anyone here has tests of LTE and LTE+ and has a similar issue? Or is it working flawless for you guys?
How can you tell you are on CA?
Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
Because words are nice but screenshots are better... Here some screens from the root app Network Guru WHILE using speedtest in the background!
Normal:
And with LTE+ aka 2xCA
Just in case you're curious, here are some Screens from the Swisscom Network, as you can see they sue EARFCN 6300 and 1301 instead of 6400 and 1601 as Salt does.

Hi small issue actually. You need to set 4g apn setting to your mobile.you may refer to your telco or google setting 4g for your courier. Like me using celcom malaysia also do manual setting 4g.auto apn setting only 3g.
I have also had this issue on my HTC 10. When I was seeing LTE +, I expected even faster speeds, however the opposite happened. Fortunately many places don't have LTE + so this is not affecting most of the times.

me too - suddenly.... after i flashed my stock rom - but before on stock it went over 30mbps

Network strength difference on S10+ vs Pixel (or others)

Hi,
Bought S10+ in INDIA yesterday however i saw low/less network bars hence i checked the signal strength for comparison.
To my surprise, this was a known bug on "some" S10+ hence i should request for a replacement from Samsung but i need to be sure before Samsung acknowledges. No call drops recorded as of now.
I get -78 to -84 dBM on Pixel while i am getting -81 to -91dBM on S10+. (using same location for comparison)
Also, i used to get LTE on my PIXEL XL and now i get 4G sign on S10+
Does anyone compared the network strength with their old phones or am i the only one facing this network issue on S10+?

Do you see any improvements post updates?
Regarding the LTE and 4G symbol, that's probably because India doesn't have real LTE yet. It's basically glorified HSPA+ and carriers are bsing everyone.
Here in the US I get LTE, but when I took this phone to New Delhi, India and popped in my Vodafone Sim card, I only received LTE in parts of New Delhi (speeds up to 40mbps/40mbps), other parts it was 4G (speeds up to 10mbps/2mbps). So that's that regarding the symbols, pixel probably didn't have a differentiation between either connections and labeled it as LTE.
Download LTE Discovery, it will tell you which exact bands you are connected to, you can pop your sim card back into the Pixel for comparison.

[Q] New A70 not getting any bars on Mint Mobile (T-Mobile)

Hey ppl,
I just picked up an open box A70 for a great price from B&H in NYC. The model umber listed on the box is A705M 128GB DUOS GSM. In the 'About' setting in the phone, the model is listed as SM-A705MN. There is no DS or other identifier after the 'MN'. I popped in my Mint sim, which has been working in my Umidigi F1 and added the APN settings, but I got 0 bars and downloading anything (apps, websites, etc.) took a long time. I switched the sim card to the other sim slot (slot #1), but that didn't help. I downloaded an app called Signal Spy and it is showing -118 signal strength.
Anyone have this model and know why I am getting such poor signal and speed? Is it possible that this particular model does not have the bands for T-Mobile? Would a full reset help at all?
EDIT: I used a website to see if the phone was actually unlocked, and it gives the model number as SM-705MZKJTPA and a country/region as Panama. After switching the connection mode from LTE/3G/2G to 3G/2G, I got 4 bars, but a paltry 6-8 Mbps down and 1 Mbps up. No bueno.
Lolol that variant doesn't have Tmobiles full network bands ,
USA and their extreme capitalism, bring back the phone to the store, it doesn't look like it supports your network provider.

Here's an update. I did a factory reset in preparation to return the phone to the store. But just on a lark I decided to try my sim card one more time. I put the sim card in, but this time it immediately showed the LTE symbol and at least 3 bars. I didn't bother changing the APN so it's just using the default (fast.t-mobile.com). I did a speed test and got 16 Mbps down and 12 Mbps up. It's not amazing, but it's workable and certainly much better than before. And honestly, it's on par or better than what I was getting with my Umidigi F1.
I already ordered an A51 though, so I will test that out as well and see which one I like more and if the A51 has better network speeds.

Question December update A1 vs A4

Hi there,
so A4 seema to be for devices that are carrier locked in Europe?
A1 is for all the factory unlocked devices?
Would I somehow benefit from A4 even though I have a unlocked device from the German google store? E.g. finally getting VoWiFi?
There is no carrier lock in Germany. The specific firmwares just support different radios/frequencies.
im carrier unlocked in europe and got a4
My 2 cents: EU versions don't have mmWave antenna, so the A4 version prevents it to be used.
The A1 version supports it, this could be why someone with EU model reported signal issues after flashing A1.

I got A4 pushed to mine and am on a non carrier phone which came direct from Google.
VoWIFI has been enabled on mine from the start, but needs to be supported by your carrier and enabled on the sim.
Not sure why some have got the A1 release if they are in one of the designated countries for a different version.
Incorrect forum...sorry.

Japan should be SQ1D.211205.016.A1 I guess, since SQ1D.211205.016.A4 is EMEA and SQ1D.211205.017 is US.

So which version can I side load in the US on the Google 6 Pro purchased from Verizon?
The one for US carriers.
I don't understand why there are so many questions on which build to flash. If you got your phone from Google, then use the build for the region your service is in. If your region is not specified, then use global.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I've said it so many times that maybe I'm wrong and everyone's ignoring me. Wouldn't be the first time that happened...
I'm on TMobile-MetroPCS in the USA and the update that was pushed to my phone was
SQ1D.211205.016.A1 - I did not side load, happened to check for updates on Dec 14th and it showed up and installed a 215mb update.

In my apartment 5g and LTE show as 1-2 bars, sometimes randomly it shows full bars. Outside it varies on the area. I do know MetroPCS customers probably get prioritized second compared to TMobile customers.
Speed wise I feel like my speeds on both LTE and 5g have decreased by a lot compared to November.
My friend and I were at a restaurant and his note 20 ultra had full 5g bars and I had only LTE 1 bar, could barely load the website to order my food so we had to do everything on his phone.

Google said they didn't do anything different for the versions. You should be fine, I'm not sure why MetroPCS which is owned by T-Mobile got a different version pushed.

I know this is apples to oranges but.... I signed up for T-Mobile's 5g internet service. They ended up sending me two 5g routers. On both the best signal I got was 2 bars and 6 mgs down. I live no more than 3 miles from their tower over flat ground. I could drive to and park right under the tower and get 4 out of 5 bars. About a mile from it I was down to 3 and soon thereafter 2. My neighbor has their cell service and also complaines about his signal strength.

It must be the signal then, sometimes in my apartment it's full bars and other times it's 1-2 bars. Not sure how much of the December update affected my signal but even though TMobile in my area shows fully covered, it's not 100%.

Question T-Mobile phones on non-TMO firmware - Any network issues?

I live in an area with sometimes-spotty reception.
Is it at all possible that when running a non-TMO firmware (such as global or custom ROM) I can have a less reliable network connection even if I'm running a NON-HLOS modem pulled from T-Mobile firmware?
I have a 9Pro purchased from T-Mobile and am on the TMO cellular plan.
And I can swear that running custom ROM or global firmware can sometimes deliver worsened network behavior than when on TMO firmware.
Not sure if it's just in my head or if others have the same issue?
Please tell me about your experience?

I think it's just you since I'm running global without issues. I'm not crazy about my network signal being a tad bit lower, as long as it works. I have nearly identical signal compared to stock firmware.
No issues here. T-Mobile user, Indian firmware. WiFi speeds top at 400mbps at home for reference. Running the same modem from when the phone was released (TMobile OG stock modem).
I actually noticed an improvement in reception going from OOS12 to crDroid on my 2127 tmo op9p. The transition was tricky though so DM me if you need guidance.
I thought my issues were related to switching to global/EU firmware from T-Mo, but when my wife and kids started having network problems with their stock T-Mo phones, it turned out to be then network was garbage (in our experience). Garbled calls, dropped calls, slow data, generally useless. Tried in multiple parts of the country (west, east, middle, north) and had issues. Even the unlocked ones we brought over had issues. So they either sold us a several garbage phones, or their network wasn't up to snuff.
Got all phones unlocked, and switched back to AT&T. They all work fine.
The network might just suck where you use it.
