Is it possible to get rid of the password unlock screen on a galaxy note 10 plus witout losing any of the data on the phone. Set a password to unlock the phone, and now its a pain in the ass, I want to go back to the way I had it before where it was open all the time. Im concerned if some needs to contact my wife in case of emergency, they cant get into phone.
I always wondered about this myself. I never used the lock screen or finger print scanner.
Don't even know if they work
Life is good...
You have a SD card slot, use it. Get a .5-1tb V30 rated Sandisk Extreme card and use it as a data drive.
All critical data goes here including installable copies of all your apps, and system apps. Backup photos here too, but do not have "dcim" in that backup folder's name. At least if do need to factory reset it will be easy.
Never encrypt any data drive including the SD card and redundantly back up its data.
Double tap and ApkExport, may not work on Android 11 and higher.

Hello everyone,
So I have (had) a Galaxy S9. A lady friends dog bit it (no b.s), and broke the screen touch input. Gradually the entire screen turned black. So now I have an S9 with no possibility of seeing or touching the screen.
The worst part is the screen broke WHILE IN maximum power save mode. Which means the USB can't be used for anything other than charging.
Making matters even worse, I had a 64gb SD card in it which had very important pictures and other valuable items.
I can't use the sd card on another phone because it says it has to be used on the original device (unmounted).
Does anyone have any ideas of what to do with getting my phone reset, get the info off, get the SD card data off etc.? I was quoted $300 for the repair.
I also have numerous, and I mean numerous, website/app logins using Google Authenticator. I can't access the Authenticator codes without the S9, and I also have A LOT of cryptocurrency wallet addresses on the Authenticator, and of course the key to access the Authenticator is on the SD card ?*
Sorry but I never knew the SD card would be specific to a phone.. because if the phone breaks or is lost forever what do you do?
Buy a new screen
I just discovered that my phone hasn't been backing up of late.
After a long talk with Verizon tech support, we discovered that this seems to be a common problem since the last o/s update - if any screen lock is in use, Google Backup just hangs ("waiting to backup" message), and the "backup now" button is greyed out.
If you turn off screen lock, all works just fine. Turn it back on, and things are broken again.
Anybody else see this? Any fixes?
And, on a different note, even when backup up, it seems like Google Backup ignores data from Samsung Voice Recorder that's stored on an SD card. Any suggestions on this?
I have stopped using Google as a backup method completely and use Samsung Smart Switch. It will create a complete backup of pretty much everything onto your SD card and makes it a breeze to do a complete restore. Something to consider...

Thanks.
An interesting thought, but not automatic, and involves swapping SD cards frequently if one wants to keep a backup separate from one's phone. Me, I want automatic and OTA.
I'd kind of like it if Samsung & Google got their acts together (probably only if Verizon beats up on them), or there's a patch or work-around (what I'm hoping to find).
Personally, I like being able to control the backups and the fact that only I have access to them. I dont trust any cloud based storage to be able to keep things safe or give companies like Google the possibility of accessing any and all information. I keep a lot of the Google stuff that might track me or identify me for commercial purposes turned off. If I have to swap out a SD card or two from time to time, so be it but then I feel my stuff is more secure that way.
I have no idea what happened. I was cleaning up leaves in my yard today, went to pull my phone out to take a picture, and found that it had factory reset itself in my pocket, and wiped my SD card along with it. I have a lot of my stuff backed up, but there is a lot that's not backed up as well. I'm really hoping there is a way to get my data back -- is there?
A quick search on Google for recovery applications gives many options, but they all need root access, and I don't think that's possible on the Snapdragon.
I'm currently running a scan on my SD card outside of my phone with an application called MiniTool. No idea if this will yield results or not.
Any suggestions?
Theres an app called galaxy labs but dont think that would be much use I think what would have happened was phone in pocket pin got accidentally typed 10 times to then cause the factory reset you could try the samsung and google route to restore but might not have everything
Ugh. Bummer, for real. My heart is broken.
Is there a way to disable the 10 attempts thing? I've noticed that this phone unlocks itself and hits buttons quite often. I'm surprised this didn't happen sooner.
It's also possible that someone hacked your google or Samsung account and wiped your device remotely...
Not probable but I'd definitely be resetting passwords...
Just a thought...

Yes. Under secure lock settings. It's off by default actually normally.
If your sd card wasn't encrypted you have a chance of finding those files. Just make sure you keep it out of the phone and don't write anything on it until you have been able to use a file eraser app to find them. I've done it before myself.
That sucks man, if you had encrypt the card then i don't think data recovery will help. Well here's to hoping you didn't.
Losing data sucks especially if it's years worth....I've been there. I had an old tool I used back in the day I'll try to find it again man that thing did wonders recovering images but videos not so much, did recover a good amount though.
Also, don't go downloading any and all data recovery tool on the internet....lots are bogus.
So my gf broker her phone, comes on and you can see parts of the screen but can't operate it, therefore I can't unlock it turn on developer and the usb debugging, what the hell do I do?
Replace the screen.
In the future get a .5tb sd card (about $75 for V30 rated Lexar) and use it as your data drive.
Backup DCIM to it frequently. Keep all critical data here and back it up as needed to the PC.
Make copies of your loaded apps and updates here with ApkExport.
I can do a full reload and restore with little or no internet connection; completely self contained.
I set up all my PCs this way too. Adding a data drive to my Dell E6400 today via a slide in caddy.
The Internal memory is encrypted by default, But i cannot find a way to encrypt the micro-sd card and that`s where i store all my data, photo`s, video`s ect.
If i loose my phone or it`s stolen the micro-sd can easly be removed and read on multitude of devices.
So what am i missing, Maybe i am blind and have missed the option.
Thanks.
Backup Rule #1 Never encrypt backup data.
YOU are the one most likely to get locked out, permanently.
No one will be able to recover the data if this happens, you will be boned.
Meh anyone trying to steal my phone will see red... and lots of it.
Don't flash your phone when out and about. Stay in real time were your attention needs to be!!!
Phone in pocket, out of sight.
Never lay the phone down; get in the habit of putting it in your pocket in unsecured locations.
If the data is that sensitive it probably shouldn't be on the phone...
Always have redundant safeguards for if the data is compromised. Plan ahead!
A rootkit could turn your Android into an open book...
