Hello everyone,
So I have (had) a Galaxy S9. A lady friends dog bit it (no b.s), and broke the screen touch input. Gradually the entire screen turned black. So now I have an S9 with no possibility of seeing or touching the screen.
The worst part is the screen broke WHILE IN maximum power save mode. Which means the USB can't be used for anything other than charging.
Making matters even worse, I had a 64gb SD card in it which had very important pictures and other valuable items.
I can't use the sd card on another phone because it says it has to be used on the original device (unmounted).
Does anyone have any ideas of what to do with getting my phone reset, get the info off, get the SD card data off etc.? I was quoted $300 for the repair.
I also have numerous, and I mean numerous, website/app logins using Google Authenticator. I can't access the Authenticator codes without the S9, and I also have A LOT of cryptocurrency wallet addresses on the Authenticator, and of course the key to access the Authenticator is on the SD card ?*
Sorry but I never knew the SD card would be specific to a phone.. because if the phone breaks or is lost forever what do you do?

A strange one for you if you are able to help I would appreciate it. (sooo much)
I was an Apple stalwart for years but got so fed up of them being so inflexible and pushing stupid iOS updates on users every other month I thought an Android Phone would be the way to go.
So many peeps said great things about the S7 so I researched it and after a short while saw that S7 Active would be a better choice than the S7 or S7 edge.
I bought a G891A phone from ebay as a refurb in September 2018, it was in great condition. Worked like a dream MUCH better than Apple stuff. Much faster, brilliant battery life and better everything!
Last week (Thursday evening 28th Feb to be exact) I was charging the phone as usual before sleeping and while holding the phone in my hand and the screen locked - it looked like it rebooted, I wondered why did this happen but no biggie so I left it without the charger connected until the morning.
When I picked up the phone to use it in the morn, the startup PIN would not work which has never happened before.
I carefully entered the PIN - no joy, and again and again, then I tried every different denomination of the same number no joy, then the stock 0000 and 000000 and 1234 and 123456 . nothing still locked.
Buy this time a message came up with the 'you have x tries left until a factory reset' - tried several google searches and found similar issues but not the exact same scenario.
Tried loading progs via the SD card that would disable the PIN or allow the password file in the OS to be deleted but none of these would work as I have the stock samsung recovery and not TWRP or similar so the 'not authorised error' would come up in recovery when trying to load anything I downloaded..
Eventually I just tried the same PIN again until the phone wiped and reset it self - no real issue I thought as I have a current full BU via google drive so I let the phone restore the backup to the phone partially, then I thought what if the backup doesn't contain all the stuff I want? So stopped and disabled google play and put the phone on airplane mode to prevent any further data being written to the phone and potentially over writing anything file that had been given a deletion marker by the filesystem..
I did this as my main method of storing records/notes about many things is via memos. and realised that the goggle drive stock backup does not include Memos or SMS Texts. ( I checked through the entire listing of what was backed up on the google backups)
No I didn't enable the Samsung backup just the google drive one :crying: BUT I WISH I DID NOW!
Anyway you lovely lot - is there any way I can ROOT this phone with minimal file overwriting damage so I can get in the FS and get to the deleted memos and sms texts in the internal memory of the phone and copy them elsewhere using ADB or software or similar?
I refuse to be defeated on this as its not an APPLE!

I have been having some trouble with transferring settings and data from myGalaxy S7 to this V+5g. The tmobile store said they'd do it for me, probably to get me to take the phone?
Then, they couldn't do it. They installed Samsung Switch and then discovered that they couldn't use it! So they tried transferring something via BT. Then they discovered that nothing would transfer, beyond one simple Google identity, which I could have set up by simply entering my ID and password. So they switched to plan B: Ignore me when I came in to the store to complain that I cant actually use this phone!
So they left me to complain by phone, where they could ignore me ad infinitum! For this reason, when I found out that I was locked into a 2 year contract with this phone I cant use, I put a complaint in to the FCC.
MEANWHILE I tried to install some programs individually. Firstly Doubletwist. Then I discovered some idiosyncrasies of this phone. I need to get 60GB of music onto this phone. But the music wont go onto the phone. Firstly, if I can get the phone seen by my MacBookPro (by enabling debugging, enabling File Transfer by USB and by starting doubletwist on the phone and computer), the music will transfer, excruciatingly slowly! And it does seem to go onto my 128GB SD card. But it does stop every two GB or so. Then, it simply wont restart. Nothing I can do will get the Revvl seen again by DT on the MBP.
Does anyone think that t his inability to get this phone to transfer data or files might be something actually wrong with the phone? I discovered that tmobile were thrilled to get rid of this phone (10 minutes before the Revvl VI 5G came out?) but I am not sure yet that a Revvl VI 5g would be any more compatible with my Samsung Galaxy S7 than this model V 5g? So I am wondering if this problem which I have had and which the Tmobile store also had is the same problem with the phone itself? Especially where the store were so insistent that they didnt want to help me. After which TMobile were careful to tell me that they couldn't take the phone back because I had got it from a store!

Recently my phone battery died, and I charged it and after turning it on I cannot unlock my phone. The lock was 4 digit PIN and fingerprint and you have to enter that PIN every time you turn on your phone. So it keeps saying that the PIN is incorrect. Although I am 100 % sure, this is the correct PIN, I used it that morning, and I've been using it for more than a year by now. I had very important files left on this phone and I do not want to lose them.
I've been using this phone since 2018 and lately it's been slow and freezing from time to time. I bought another phone but unfortunately didn't rush with transferring my files to it from my old phone. I don't even have a Xiaomi account on it, and I did not back up any of my data, which was so thoughtless of me. So, I was wondering if there is possibly any way to unlock it without losing data. Please, help me. I really need those files.
I also tried to make an emergency call thinking during a call I could somehow unlock it, lol. But it keeps lagging and saying that "Phone has stopped". I also tried turning it on/off, restarting, entering different PINs (previous ones) but nothing has worked so far. Now I have a warning on the screen saying: "Your device will be wiped after 2 more failed attempts to be unlocked!".
So, I really do hope there is a way to get access to those files. And I'd be extremely grateful if someone could help me out with this.
A data recovery specialist may be able to retrieve them. Leave the phone powered off if you want to go that route. Otherwise you're likely boned.
When you use locks and encryption it is you who are the most likely to be locked out.
Always redundantly backup critical data on a regular basis. If you have a SD card slot, use the SD card to store all critical data and don't encrypt it.
Is it possible to get rid of the password unlock screen on a galaxy note 10 plus witout losing any of the data on the phone. Set a password to unlock the phone, and now its a pain in the ass, I want to go back to the way I had it before where it was open all the time. Im concerned if some needs to contact my wife in case of emergency, they cant get into phone.
I always wondered about this myself. I never used the lock screen or finger print scanner.

You have a SD card slot, use it. Get a .5-1tb V30 rated Sandisk Extreme card and use it as a data drive.
All critical data goes here including installable copies of all your apps, and system apps. Backup photos here too, but do not have "dcim" in that backup folder's name. At least if do need to factory reset it will be easy.
Never encrypt any data drive including the SD card and redundantly back up its data.
Double tap and ApkExport, may not work on Android 11 and higher.

I downloaded the tool, but you can`t unlock S10 Plus without data loss - that`s no option.
