any news on flashing Huawei watch fit 2 to wear os? - Huawei Watch

I bought that watch because i heard that there is app gallery in it. i bought it, opened it, and was surprised that there is only about 9 apps available on app gallery!
useless apps! i think of selling that watch to buy a wear os watch yet still underwhelmed of the their battery. It sucks!. on the other hand, Huawei watches' batteries are phenomenal. so i have some questions:-
- is there a way to root or flash the os of my Huawei watch fit 2? (i have never flashed a software before, so I am a newbie
- if not, will there be anytime sooner or later?
- if not, which wears os watch would recommend me to buy( I prioritize battery life, and third party apps availability of course)
thanks

I'm researching this too, there are very few applications, there is not even a calendar, a so-called smart bracelet Huawei definitely don't buy it, it's garbage

forum is dead no one seems to be

Does anyone know about this, this clock needs to be revived huawei watch fit 2

Android watch recommendations

Does anyone use an Android watch? Any recommendations if you do. Was interested in buying one but no idea which one

As of right now, I'd suggest the Huawei watch. Though, if I were you, I'd wait. A whole bunch of new Android wear watches are probably about to be released. Android wear 2.0 is about to come out with a whole bunch of new features, and a bunch of new watches should follow to support these new features.

I'm quite happy with my Sony Smartwatch 3:
- cheap (you can easily find it for ~100€ on Amazon
- I can easily get a full solid day off the battery
i'm using a samsung gear s3 frontier along with my OP3T. notification works well. i can answer calls but I cannot text on the watch (not that I want to). spotify controller works well, and I can read flipboard articles on the watch to pass time.
Huawei watch is pretty good, tho mic and voice commands seems to be worse than on the other watches. Maybe because mic is located underside of the watch, where the band connects. I have been using Android wear 2.0 beta for some time already, and really liking it, much smoother than old version. But Google is propably gonna announce new watches soon, Android wear 2.0 stable is coming in next month. If you find a really good deal for Huawei watch or others, then maybe buy now, but otherwise I would wait and see the new ones which are coming.
No love for the Asus Zenwatch 3 in here?

I've been using a Sony Smartwatch 3 ever since it was launched and wouldn't change it for anything else. I tried a Huawei Watch for a couple of days and it wasn't as comfortable. Furthermore, I use it as a GPS running watch and it pairs with any BT Smart HRM without any issue. Nice to go for a long run without a phone when you have GPS, MP3-player and HRM on your wrist.
I would recommend the Samsung Gear S3 ,or even the Gear S2 ,the software is superior to Android wear in my opinion .

I'm planning on getting a gear s3 frontier with my 3T. How is the compability? Any significant limitations compared to pairing it with a Samsung phone?
Anyone miss a call notification once and a while?
Ill notice Ill get a missed call on my watch and it never vibrated
Using Gear S3 Frontier and the only thing i might miss is google assistant unless sammy updates the gear s3 with their own rumoured assistant Bixby.
The rotating bezel, the battery life, and the simple OS are major wins.
and with samsung pay about to launch in India its a major win because of MST.

Huawei Watch 1 vs 2 for starting out

I've been interested in the Huawei Watch for a while now, but been holding out to see what the watch 2 would bring. Now that it is out, and I've been reading reviews including this thread. I'm thinking I might be better off buying the original watch.
Any ideas if the original is going to be phased out? Other than GPS, and cell capability, is there any benefit to the 2?
I am currently running an original black/white pebble steel, which I bought after the color pebbles were out, and I ended up missing out on a lot of applications and such, as they were all built for the color versions. Shortly after that, pebble was bought out, so support for them is slowly vanishing.
I am just afraid if I buy the older version, like I did before, I'm going to end up in the same scenario, where everything is geared for the 2, or they'll come out with AW3, and won't support the original any more.
Are my concerns legitimate, or do I just have bad experience due to pebble?
I am longtime user of the first Huawei Watch and I'm pretty satisfied with it because its design and looks are much better than the latest ones which I've played briefly in some retail shops. I don't need NFC or cell capability on a watch, so I have 0 reason to upgrade. But that's me.
If I were you, because it's your first time, I suggest you buy the latest ones. It doesn't make sense buying an old model when there's a new one guaranteed of support.
Shamusent
I'm interested in if specific features from watch 2 have been ported over to watch 1. Features like the watch only mode for longer battery, enhanced fitness mode with continuous pulse etc etc.

GWA2 --> WearOS?

Did a search and didn't see anything other than a thread from 2018 that didn't seem to go anywhere. Also, if this is against forum rules...my bad!
To the point! I recently bought both the GWA2 and the Fossil Gen5 to test against each other and then return the one I least preferred. My problem is, I MUCH prefer the hardware and look of the GWA2 (slightly larger screen, more minimal look, better battery life, no crown/button that constantly activates when I bend my wrist, and with the upcoming ECG/EKG - more health tech). The problem is, I really dislike the Tizen OS and feel the WearOS integrates a lot better with my Pixel4. I realize this is completely subjective, but have to believe I'm not the only one to come to this conclusion.
I guess I have a few questions: Is it possible and if so, is there any appetite for this port? Obviously all the other concerns I have would be contingent on whether or not it could be done, but if so would it retain all or most of the device functionality as with Tizen and would the move to WearOS significantly change the battery life?
I'm not a developer of any kind and it's been years since I've even been interested in rooting/flashing any of my phones. Should I just return both of them and hope that Google will do something with Fitbit next year instead?! /s
Thanks in advance!
Just an opinion here but I've had both tizen OS and wear OS watches and I'll tell you right now the wear OS was a much better experience. Especially if your not pairing The tizen Watch with a Samsung phone. The second you connect that tizen watch to a non Samsung phone, about half of the capabilities of the watch no longer work correctly and some of the apps that come stock on the watch actually get removed upon connection. Messaging will not be seamless with the tizen watch. You will miss things. And Bixby is next to useless compared to Google Assistant. Also, if you look at the Samsung App Store the selection is pathetic compared to what is available for Wear OS. At Samsung you only find half finished apps that most of the time don't work. Not enough developers working on apps for Samsung watches because there a dead end. The comparison between the two stores is laughable. Samsung will never catch up. Go ahead and check it out for yourself search the Samsung store for almost anything and you'll find one or two choices available that probably don't work . search the the Google Play Store with the same term and you'll get hundreds of choices. After owning wear OS and switching to tizen I was so frustrated with all the problems I ended up giving it away. Not worth the space on my wrist lol

Yeah, the Samsung app store is utterly useless. The few apps it does have are half baked at best. It's a real shame that there's no way to load WearOS on this watch, because it is MUCH nicer (IMO) than the Fossil Gen5 (and by extension any other WearOS watch). I really expected there to be a robust desire on the development front to get WearOS on this watch, because the overall design is great and practically screams for something other than Tizen.
I did keep it over the Fossil, which I ended up returning. There are simply too many warts with the hardware to make it an enjoyable experience, which is a shame because the software is so much more integrated when using it with a Pixel.

Huawei Watch GT 2 First Impression

Hello and good day everyone.
In this post i will provide my full first impression of the watch.
Buying the Watch:
First of all i was using Fitbit Ionic for almost 2 years now and was thinking of an upgrade.
Huawei GT 2 Caught my eye mainly because of its battery life which most watches lack. I've done my research on the watch but there were couple of important things that i've missed.
The Price of the watch was fair compared to others.
First Impression:
- The watch material was good and felt like premium quality build, screen was beautiful.
- Supports Multiple Languages in notifications ( unlike Fitbit ).
- I cant see or view the whole notification ( so when i receive a text message or a whatsapp message i cant read all of it unlike fitbit which is shocking to me).
- Its a shame that you cant reply with a voice to whatsapp notifications at least.
- Watch Faces :
- Pre-installed Watch Faces are beautiful and well designed.- Not Lot of official Watch Faces ( You can install custom watch faces using the Xposed model mentioned in this forum but to remove the custom face you will have to reset the watch which i see as a waste of time ).- Heart Rate feels pretty accurate.
- Raise wrist to wake feature is just terrible and extremely sensitive which will bother you at night.
- LiteOS is fast in terms of startup but while using the watch i can see a slightly sluggish performance.
- LiteOS needs alot alot alot of working to be nearly as good as advertised by huawei.
- The support in huawei community forum is just terrible where i mostly see the reply from their representatives as "we highly advised you to call our Huawei Customer service team in your country for further assistance." when the guy is just requesting them to add features or fixing a bug.
- Battery life is still to be determined as its been a day since i got the watch.
- Sleep tracking still to determined.
- Step Counter:
- Step Counter accuracy is off by 10-50 steps, sometimes even more.
- I noticed it recorded 90 steps while am sleeping.- Huawei F***ing Health Application:
Now thats what i forgot to research about.
First of all Huawei is stepping away from google so who knows how that will affect the compatibility in the future.
Secondly, to download Huawei Health App you need to download HMS Core 4.0+ which you can only get from Huawei AppGallery ( its like PlayStore but designed by Huawei ).
Now they claim that the Health App works with dark mode which is true but not perfectly. Alot of times i had to switch back to light mode just to read the text from the app.
The Main page is beautifully designed and looks good, but the overall User Experience of the app is terrible.
AND THE MOST ANNOYING PART is the step counter dashboard which takes the step count source from both the watch and the phone, and to make things worse you cant select a single source as Huawei claimed that it intelligently calculates a composite results which will show you inaccurate step count. I saw people complaining about this issue to huawei and there response is " You can view your watch by going to Devices > select your watch and you can see the fitness data " (which is only registered for Current day ) .

Overall:
I do believe that Huawei GT2 is something amazing and has alot of potential, BUT there were too quick with releasing it same as the LiteOS development.
It needs a TON of work to get the satisfaction of a truly smartwatch.
Huawei must listen to what the customers are requesting and work with them rather than just leaving them hanging with stupid reply.
If your wondering wether you want to buy it or not here is my recommendation: if you desire a fully good working watch go with [Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy Watch, Fitbit Ionic or Versa ] i tried all four these and so far they are better ( NOTE : fitbit is weak in terms of watch faces. )
TO BE FAIR
I experienced similiar issues with Fitbit but i saw rapid development from their end across the 2 years i used the Ionic watch.
I will update the post as i continue my journey with this watch, wishing it will be a good one.
Thank you all, and Hope you find this Helpful.

So, who else gave up?

I ordered the Fold 2 this weekend because of no damn Google services.
Feel like im downgrading because the Mate XS still looks better and has better software.
What a pity.
{Mod edit: Political statement removed. Oswald Boelcke}
I'm thinking the same. I've got gms installed but the phone is too expensive to not have notifications from apps that message through Google, no Google pay, not play certified and so on...
Huawei could have fixed it all by unlocking the bootloader but no..
Well i still have mine and use it as a daily driver since may. Pretty happy to use microG for notifications and Aurora store for apps. I was surprised when Microsoft Outlook synchronised my google contacts with the phone. Also it syncs my google calendar and mail. Also youtube vanced with microG for YouTube premium. So no problems here.
I sometimes miss my markings and lists from google maps but this damned pandemic doesn't make it easy to travel )
Still very happy with mine with GMS sideloaded. The things I don't work are not things I would use anyway so for me it's still the best phone around.
Might be different if I had to reset it for some reason and couldn't reinstall GMS though, but I'm crossing fingers, it's also the most stable phone I've had in a long time.
My Thom Browne Z Fold 2 is still sealed because I love my XS too much and with 100% working GMS.
I am absolutely loving the Mate Xs with GMS fully working, using it alongside my iPhone 11 Pro Max.
I've had a mate Xs for a a few months now, got a original galaxy fold a few days ago and it's a clear downgrade, even with the X's having to side load stuff I would rather keep the Xs
Things I noticed
The galaxy folds crease is just more visible, the galaxy fold doesnt fold flat after some use while my mate Xs still does, the folded screen on the fold is a huge downgrade, the fold has lower screen brightness... So basically to much negatives even considering the position Huawei are in now
I am a fan of Samsung foldables. I've owned them from day one (the zfold 2) and the first Fold since December 2019.
Up until November I had the Zfold2, but a month ago I switched to the Mate XS as soon as I found it at a reasonable decent price and I'm thrilled with it. I find it more beautiful, more seductive, lot more usable as closed... better camera.. everything better than any Fold.
I would make this change again a thousand times because only XS gives me true emotions with the screen is open. About google services..well I don't use banking apps and I arranged very well with alternative apps, indeed I also found something superior, I just miss the PC-smartphone history on Chrome, its bookmarks or apps still unavailable as Waze.

it's nice to read this message actually me too I took the xs because it has more of an effect wow when you unfold it for google I put the gms and freeze the fram and I am satisfied and for google pay bah I pay with my watch.
I would keep it but lack of volte support on Vodafone UK make it unusable in some rural areas.
Anyone still going strong here ?
me always with my mate xs
yup, still keep it run and try to use it everyday
About to reach 2023 and just dropped the Z Fold 4 for my ole good Mate XS. I'm waiting for samsung to make a decent working good looking front screen. My Mate Xs is a phone on it's own without unfolding it so i'm keeping it at least until Fold 5 changes things, if it does.
I'm no longer Google services dependant, most apps i needed are now on Huawei store and others i need i just use an apk.
I still own it,
tonight it updated the security patches to February 2023.
Not bad for a 3 year old phone
Still rules
