Help with Fire tv stick 4k max do not boot up - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sure my question is not for here but to ask something. Somebody of you guys to know how to hard reset amazon fire stick 4k max. The stick get start and end up to the logo...no meaning how long I wait, no luck to go trought to the end of the process. The remote command do not work (right cycle and back button) when pressed the two buttons before start up. How to hell to try factory reset without remote and physical buttons on to device . Any advice ?

Try booting in safe mode
If that doesn't work, you can try to boot into recovery. The Recovery menu exists on the 4K stick and earlier FireTVs, I don't know if it still exists on the 4k Max, but worth a shot.
How to unbrick by entering Recovery Mode and Factory Reset the Amazon Fire TV
If you've managed to brick your Fire TV or for whatever reason are unable to get to the settings menu to perform a factory reset, here is how to enter recovery mode without fully booting into the Fire TV's operating system.

If neither of those two options work, it's time to use the 1-year warranty and get it replaced.

Both options don't work. Mine is already on the way to Amazon for repair/replacement

Is there a way to fix it without a keyboard? Heard something about ADB and connecting the Firestick to a computer, but it hasn't worked.

User authorization is needed to connect a new device via ADB. If you haven't connected your computer to your FireStick before already, and granted authorization, you won't be able to now, since the authorization screen only shows on your TV after you have already booted up.
There is also no guarantee that the system is booting far enough to start ADB on the FireTV.

That sucks, although understandable. Any other ways to get out of the bootloop or an USB keyboard dongle is needed?

Without a keyboard the only way to influence the Stick is with your remote. And all you can do with the remote is initiate a factory reset
Press and hold the Left button, Menu button, and Back button at the same time.
But this only works if you get far enough in the boot process for the remote to connect.

Hello, a while ago a friend gave me a fire tv to see if it could be fixed, the problem is that it doesn't update, I restored it from the factory but it's still the same, any help is welcome

Try a hotspot on the phone and connect the Fire TV stick to the hotspot from the phone. I had the same problem and with hotspot it worked.

Hello, tell me pliz, is there a way to fix this?
after turning it on, it immediately gets into the Recovery mod,
if you connect the keyboard, it only reacts to combinations of 5 buttons which makes the factor default, but just a quick overload and again recover
up and down buttons do not respond, input and remote too,
I tried to connect to AbdLink, it seems like the device is seen but writing unauthorized
does not respond to reboots from the application.
Is there any chance to fix this?
PS. Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max was bought in November, nothing was manipulated with it.

Hi,
I've had exactly the same screen on boot, find a way to exit and recover my firestick 4K with a keyboard (not wireless connected to USB) and press Alt + Print Screen + c (not "i" as i see everywhere), depending on keyboard layout you'll have to press Fn for Print Screen.
Successfully restarted my stick without loosing any data or app.
Hope it will help ;-)

Fire Tv Stick remote suddenly stopped working

Like it says up top, but it's relatively new. Of course I tried new batteries. I had been using the originals from when I bought it in late March. All I was doing was syncing mysql to the stick and I needed a mouse to move some stuff around in ES file explorer (got side tracked actually and installed task manager to clear the cache) so I installed WuKong remote. It was then I noticed some serious lag--takes about 10 seconds or less on fire tv console to clear cache. This took about a minute at least then it just froze in the app, couldn't press home. Tried 3 sets of new batteries but nothing worked.
BTW--this new faster screen timeout on aftv is all the more annoying when you're trying to do something like update a library because if I leave for a couple of minutes I need to reboot since neither Yatse nor wukong were able to wake up the display BUT you can still hear the clicks.
I don't mean to go on but something tells me this is more than just a remote control issue. I thought if anyone had a similar experience they might be of some help. Thanks.
Did you try to pair the remote again? Press the home button for 5-10 seconds after powerup.

Yes. A few times with different batteries, but it just won't pair. I might try a factory reset. If I had to pin point it it would've died when i first started using wukong app. I've used that on other devices with no issues but that's the only thing i did differently last night. I'll probably do a factory reset and if that don't work call amazon.
You could try the Android phone remote app for calling the pairing function from menu. Probably this does the trick.

And had I caught your post a bit earlier...I may have lol.
I still have no idea the root cause but a factory reset did the trick. The remote responded immediately (actually a lot faster then when i wipe my rooted atvs.) I wonder if the wukong remote somehow highjacked it?) Just remember the reason i installed it was to be able to mouse click "show hidden" on ES file explorer. The stupid part is I now know there's another way to accomplish this without a mouse by going into the app's settings. No big deal. Thanks for the help!
This has happened to me thrice in one week. This on a rooted FTV, not stick. Three times, the remote just died. Changed batteries, but no joy. The first time, a simple reboot fixed it. The second time, I had to use the FTV app on my iPhone to un-pair and re-pair it. The third time, the reboot did the trick. Not sure what happened. Since then (around a month back), no issues. No change in firmware/apps/any sort of configuration on FTV (or any new devices in the house) before the problem or after the problem. The problem came for a week and then simply went away.
I don't have the Wukong app installed. I have one another FTV in my bedroom and made sure that the problem remote did not somehow got paired to it, and it wasn't. I need to read up on BT interference, that seems to be my wild and ignorant guess. Or some hardware within the remote is going bad... But, I am not sure about that reason, the remote is used everyday and works fine since the mishap.
Today while watching a video via my AFTV, the whole thing just locked up on me. Had to remove the power cord to reboot it. After it rebooted I noticed that my controller wasn't doing anything, and the same with my amazon game controller. But my logitech K400 worked. So I go to settings because I know for a fact the batteries aren't bad. Put in some new one on the remote first thing and you can see the led light up on the controller. Anyways, in Settings it said my controllers were paired, but said Battery, like the batterys were dead. So I used my keyboard to unpair my gamepad. Then I had no problem pairing it up and controlling stuff, so I did the same with my remote and boom, now it works.
tl;dr Check settings, if it says just Battery on the controller, unpair it, and then pair it again.
Can some one help my fire stick controller it's working correctly it goes up & down but it won't go on the mouse bit to click on the show box films I want to watch I'm new to all this technology stuff lol
fire sitck dead
I had my firestick for a week and used it, maybe four times. Went to use it again and it would not come on, no LED light, nothing. I changed the batteries, several sets of new ones. Nothing. I am not a tech guru, so if you have some ideas for me, dumb them down.
Oh, and I tried the new batteries in another remote and they work fine.
Had the same problem too... I had to hold down the Home button while being 4inches away from the receiver before it synced
i've had no luck with my firestick remote, i connected the firestick to my tv but the firestick remote won't sync with the firestick so now i'm stuck at the first screen, i've tried changing the batteries for new ones, cleaning the remote's battery contacts, plugging and unplugging the firestick from the tv and the electrical outlet. I've also plugged the firestick to a brand new tv and still can't find the remote. I've remove the batteries for 2 hours and tried again to sync it to the firestick and no luck. rebooted my router several times, put the remote next to the firestick to see it would sync and still no luck, changed hdmi ports and nothing, went to a friend's house and not working there either. called amazon to be sent a replacement firestick and remote, they sent both and still the same problem. I would like to factory reset the firestick but i don't know how since i can't use the phone app or the remote. I'm at the very first screen where it asks you to press the home button so it can find the remote. btw, i've also did the hold 3 button remote reset and didnt work either. i have the firestick with voice first generation, i had kodi installed so i don't know if that means it was rooted or not.... Any suggestions on what else i can do to pair it would be greatly appreciated.
TL;DR firestick with voice remote won't sync no matter what and need help with syncing.
If you are still having this trouble it is because your firestick does not recognize that the tv is on. It's doing that because it is plugged into the wall. If you unplug the USB part of the plug from the wall and plug it into your USB slot on your tv it will solve the problem. Switched mine over and it hasn't happened since.

That makes absolutely no sense at all.
@nachumama So you have a new FireTV Stick and a new remote and it still doesn't work? Two separate sets of stick+remote and none of them works on your TV or the one at your friend's house? That's not good.
FireStick remote not working properly
My Firesticktv remote was working very slowly. I would hit a button on the remote and nothing would happen for about 30 seconds. I changed the batteries(no change). I fixed it by going to Settings- Network- whatever network it says you are connected to. hit the Forget this network, Then connect to the next network on your router. It was my 2.4GHz channel. For some reason my channel was changed and was on my 5GHz channel, It didn't work on the 5GHz channel. The remote works like new again
my firestick is not working tried very thing that other people has tried what to do next
Fire Tv Stick remote suddenly stopped working issue or Amazon Fire Stick not working issue usualy occured due to Inadequate Power Supply, Damage Fire Stick’s remote batteries, Outdated Software, Corrupted Fire Stick Cache, and Overheating of Fire Stick devices.
However, there is some workaround solutions available on the web 'https://techsmagic.com/how-to-fix-amazon-fire-stick-not-working-after-update-reset' page detailing it. Here is the solution:
Method 1: Restart your Fire Stick
Method 2: Check your Internet Connection
Method 3: Update FireStick Software
Method 4: Clear the Fire Stick Cache
Method 5: Reset your Fire Stick to Factory Settings
If you have some other and better solutions to fix this issue, must share with me. Thanks

Firestick Won't Connect

My Firestick is 100% stock. The other day it froze. I tried to reset with remote and nothing happened and after unplugging and plugging back in it came back unable to connect to WiFi or any remotes.
Amazon has been less than helpful wasting an hour of my time trying to reset and pair the remotes. The final icing was when they offered to sell me a new one at 20% off (my device is 1 yr old)
It loads up the home screen titles, then after awhile it says unable to connect to network. From there it goes into a screen saver but has no images.
It looks like everything essentially got turned off including ADB.
Am I pretty much SOL? All I think it needs is a factory reset but seems there is no way to do that without a remote?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Is this the only remote you have to try ? Or do you have any other fire devices with remotes you can try ?
First of all I'd try unplugging the power half way through the boot, try it a couple of times to try envoke the optimising screen, this happened to one of mine before and the remote paired after I got the optimising screen up, think I unplugged power 2 or 3 times for this to happen. Failing that you could try pairing the remote with an android device, while your firestick is off then unplug batteries and power up your firestick replace batteries and try again holding the home button for 30 seconds, I know it says 10 seconds but that never worked for me.

I have tried 3 different remotes. Have not tried the resetting during boot. Should I do it during the amazon logo or the firestick logo?
Thanks

I'd do it with the fire stick logo, well that's when I did it, if after a few times it don't go to the optimising screen it can't hurt to do it on the Amazon logo. Let me know if you have any luck.

Well it went through the system optimization but still no luck connecting to WiFi or a remote. Thanks for the suggestion though, better than anything Amazon has offered. Just kills me that there is no mechanical way to factory reset the stick (something similar to the optimization trick).

Ah ok, if you are 100 percent sure you have ADB switched off then I'm afraid there is nothing you can do as far as I'm aware.
If you had ADB switched on then enabling otg and using usb hub you could of plugged a keyboard in and navigated with that into settings and returned it to factory settings.
I fixed this problem by going on my Samsung TV settings and enable anynet+ (hdmi-cec). This allows you to use your TV remote instead of amazon remote. Then all good got back online and so on. Already happened twice and its very frustrating don't know what to do. See if you TV got something like that, which allows you to use its remote. Good luck

Fire TV 1 - Recovery Mode Question

Hi All,
Hoping someone can give me some info regarding recovery mode.
I have two Fire TVs, One is is bricked at the White Amazon Logo, the bootloader is partially unlocked so there is no hope there.
it was rooted and has TWRP installed.
The other works perfectly - stock standard.
I've read every forum and article I can find regarding recovery mode triggered by keyboard, here's where things get interesting.
I am yet to get into recovery mode, in fact I am yet to see any life on any of the 3 keyboards I have tried, 2 x USB, 1 PS/2 with a USB converter. In my efforts to get into recovery mode I tried the same technique on my other working fire TV, same result.
I've tried pressing Alt, I & Prn Scrn for a few minutes, pressing the command fast, slow, continuously, no life, no response.
The only time the keyboard shows any life is on my working unit at the Fire TV home screen, LEDs, Ctrl, Alt & Del work etc.
My question to those who have managed to get into recovery mode - does the keyboard you connect show any life in terms of Caps Lock, Scroll Lock LEDs?
Something else I noticed was a fair portion of people who managed to get it right were using wireless keyboards K400 etc.
do you think that is the key?
The whole reason I haven't given up hope on my bricked unit is because I cannot get into recovery on my working fire tv either, what's the secret?
@AFTVnews.com please could I get your advice here

Is my vanilla 2nd gen FireTV dead ?

My FireTV is stuck in boot. I get a black screen with white amazon logo (no orange colours). The white light slowly flashes on the front box, and eventually my TV eventually gets a no signal response.
The device registers the remote, (every click gives the white light comes on) but I am unable to go into recovery (Right button + Back Button). Opening up ADBLink, I am able to connect to the device by IP address, and I can reboot the device remotely and I can enter reboot recovery. When I enter reboot recovery, the FireTV reboots and in red writing I get
"Your Amazon Firetv will restart in a few minutes, and show resume normal operation, If it does not restart please unplug the power cable and plug it back in to force a restart. If you need assistance please contact support at Amazon" .
However nothing happens, and when I restart I get stuck at the white amazon logo.
I have tried 3 separate keyboards and tried ALT + Print screen, or ALT + i + Print Screen, or ALT+ Home, or ALT + i + home. None of them worked.
It has the stock OS installed (Dont know which version but assume the latest update), and the only action beyond normal operation has been the sideloading of a couple of common APKs. (No rooting, bootloader it locked). As it is out of warrrenty Amazon are little help (15% discount on next FireTV purchase).
Is there anything I can do, or is my box now a paper weight ?
If you swear that it is an unmodified device, then there seems to be a hardware defect where you can't do anything anymore, e. g. the internal eMMC memory is broken!
However, your phenomenon still sounds like a brick through a failed root attempt or rom update or something similar.

Thanks for reply, it is completely unmodified . So you are probably right about it being a hardware fault.
I have a toddler who likes to play with everything (at times even pulled out the fire TV) so guessing she did something. As a last resort I am going to take it apart. Perhaps I will be lucky and see something obvious

Toshiba FireTV Boot Loop

Hey everyone. Last night I tried to install Google Play services and Android account manager on an otherwise unmodified Toshiba FireTV (Model# 50LF621U19 since I can't post links yet). Unfortunately, when I attempted to restart it in the hopes that it would fix the problems I was having, it started a boot loop. It gets past the initial Toshiba/FireTV logo, but then just displays the FireTV logo with a set of pulsing dots underneath. I'm fine with a factory reset, but I can't figure out how to get into any sort of recovery.
Things I've tried so far:
* ADB over network
- I had developer options enabled so that I could install .apks, but I had no luck here. It seems that the boot loop doesn't connect to the network long enough for ADB to initialize. My hope with this would be that I could uninstall the .apks I installed yesterday.* Alt+PrtScrn+I
* Back+Right on Remote
* Disassembled the TV to check for any way to connect to the actual board
- All the actual FireTV stuff was under some shielding that was soldered onto the board. Couldn't identify any pinout that would be a spot to connect a USB cable.
No luck so far. I'm really stressing out over this one, and I have no idea what to try next. Anyone have any ideas?
Maybe just let it sit for a really long time ? Another thread had the same issue, but never said how it fixed itself...
https://forum.xda-developers.com/fi...pp-eveyone-t3914595/post79191643#post79191643
Great news everyone, I solved the problem. Posting this so hopefully it can be of use to someone else someday. On the Toshiba FireTV, in order to enter recovery mode, you unplug it, depress and hold the power button, and then plug it back in. You can release the power button once you see the toshiba and amazon logos.
Just adding this works for the Insignia FireTVs as well. To cycle through, use the power button and then hold the power button for selecting the action
