Hello,
from what i know and please correct me if i'm wrong the differences from Android 9 to 10 have been negligible, but still i'm with Android 10 as its just newer.
Ofc new version new bugs and 'if it works dont touch it' as many say tho with A10 i've never had problems so far.
But since there's the Android 11 HA rom available now what would be the benefits of upgrading my Dasaita MAX6 from the current Android 10 or are there any negatives?
Thank you
None except for bigger number
marchnz i'm like almost sorry i asked.
Any more ideas as to why they may have went for the struggle to release 11?
THANKS
untill there is a version that trully fully works on your headunit with out bugs or at least more than you have now i would suggest to stay on the one you have and is working.
My unit came out with 7.1, and by your answer means that i should have stayed at 7.1 and never ever moved to 8, then 10.
- a version that trully fully works as you say is something quite broad, i'm not sure what it actually even means here for these HUs...
- you say without bugs, but every release has bugs. Yet, 8, 9 and 10 /and now 11/ are released and people have and are moving to them. +there are OTAs + there's Hal9k and Malaysk mods to iron them out further.
- there IS a version 11 exactly for my unit released by Dasaita.
So lets cut it.
The question of the topic is extremely simple and so far the answers dont match it. I decided to start topic about 10 to 11 because I saw there is exactly the same one by another guy about Android 9 to 10. The other one has much sensible answers tho.
With all respect now can we keep the bs trying-to-be-interesting out and like men stick to the point of the question?
Thanks and sry to be blunt.
There are more negatives than positives.
Unless upgrading the version of Android solves a SPECIFIC problem that you are experiencing with your head unit then you should stay on whatever version you currently have. So "fully working" in my opinion means fully working (even that is subjective) with the hardware you have. You can be assured that some key feature will "no longer be supported" with your version of the hardware at some point when updating firmware. In other words, something winds up completely broken if you go to the next version of Android.
These Chinese head unit manufacturers will use certain components which they provide support (albeit limited) for in the provided Android version on your head unit but suddenly not supported in the next Android version. For example, there have been reports here on XDA of bluetooth completely stop working on Dasaita units when going from Android 10 to Android 11.
They remove some key support from the next version of Android to try to make people buy the newest head units. In other words to get the latest version of Android you have to buy the latest head units or stick with what you have.

This forum topic is dedicated to the P6 and Mate, so obviously they have to be somehow "compatible", otherwise it wouldn't be a shared topic.
In what way are they similar (I can also read the tech specs, so that's not what I mean)? I'm actually referring to the pending 4.4.2 release for the P6, while nobody mentions the same upgrade for the Mate. Is anything like that coming? Is the release of the P6 4.4.2 a lead-in to the same release for the Mate?
I'm also a bit confused on the developer section of this forum. Again, in the Mate topic, almost everything deals with the P6.
Anyone care to explain to a Huawei Mate owner who desperately needs >= 4.3 to do some experimenting with BLE?
TIA all
Basically, all you have is the Mate Development section.
There is however some shared projects since the hardware is so alike, like Cyanogenmod.
At the moment, no 4.3 for Mate nor P6.
We wouldn't know if you guys are getting kitkat since the Chinese are a bit puzzling when it comes to dates or manuals.
But I am sure once we got official kitkat for P6, someone could port it over. I am pretty sure I'll be able to, problem is I don't have a device nor the confidence to ask someone else to test my untested work.

Thx PulseDroid, partly answers my question.
I was referring to this thread: 4.4.2 KitKat beta for P6.
So basically, it seems P6 is getting straight into 4.4 (skipping 4.3). And hence my question was: if P6 and Mate are so alike, when and if at all, can we expect this for the Mate?
I am not necessarily in need of a custom ROM (although I have installed several ones in my Xperia Neo days), I just want the BLE integrated into the Mate to work (which it can not until 4.3).
We wouldn't know if you guys are getting Kitkat since the Chinese are a bit puzzling when it comes to dates or manuals.
We don't know. - Most likely but there is no evidence for us to be certain.
Yes the P6 is skipping 4.3. - Most devices did this, a lot of the more well known manufactures also did this.
So, we don't know when / if you will get 4.4.x for the Mate. - But even if not, Developers here on XDA might be able to port it over to the Mate.
Mate will most likely get it. I remember reading that there were a couple of phones besides P6, that was promised to get update to Emui2.0 (assuming that they bring Android 4.4 with Emui2.0, and not just emui2.0), and i remember the P2 and A199 included among it. Im not sure Mate was named but it most likely would be part of the batch to get update. Yet note that since P6 is Huawei's "flagship", the P6 gets updates sooner. And since the specs are nearly same then i guess they are first waiting to get a stable release on P6 and then move it to other phones like Mate, Honor 3, D2, that all use similar chip.
As the owner of a Nexus 7 2013 LTE (deb), I can't help but feel as if nobody - especially not El Goog, actually give a frak about this device:
No Lollipop OTA yet
No Lollipop Factory Images
Hardly any roms
And not a single word from Google about the first two. Nada.
Now I've been using the one of two Lollipop roms actually available for the device, and I'm liking it, but I would have liked CM or Slimrom or any other custom variation (GROGG88's version is excellent, but I like to have variation to choose form - and now that we don't have xposed it's more important than ever).
I'd like to hear from you users and developers: Until Google step up their game (and even when they do), what do you think we can do to improve deb compatibility and rom variation?
Developers, is there any specific reason you develop for flo exclusively? (other than - I'm assuming - that it's the only device you've got?)
Bare in mind that this is an open discussion thread, I'm not blaming or requesting anything from anyone. Let's just talk about it.
I own a deb device. And agree that support is limited. I have grogg88's rom installed and must say it's one of the best available. I do also have cm installed. But wish there was more available. Hopefully Google will release the update soon
Of course it's not abandonware. Stupid question. Lollipop only came out 1 month ago and still has major problems on the devices running it.

This. With all the issues being reported on this forum alone, I have no desire to update to 5.0 or 5.0.1. I want all the new bells, whistles, and pretty colors, but 4.4.4 does everything I need and want.
I'm really hoping the GravityBox devs will find a way to get it to work with ART soonish.
I made a conversation with "UK" Xiaomi support, and they said "We also don't know the release date either but we hope it will come around early/before 2020"
And I know that someone published android 10 update will come this week/month etc, but it won't. This release date could be true for Mi A3(even they said it will come like in October).
Please and please do not ask questions about this, other news are completely wrong, please believe me. If you are a member of Telegram, you can see my screenshot also.

So you want us to believe you ( a totally anonymous poster on the internet) over other totally anonymous posters on the internet? Is that what you're saying?
well, its aaallll just rabble anyway. nobody knows yet.
i contacted uk xiaomi helpdesk, person there swore its due in 2 weeks max, that was 3 weeks ago
it comes when it comes. there are good a10 roms here that works good after some tweaking. i use gsi version as a daily driver for weeks now.
Well so far I'm the only one who's been right ? so believe me fellow anonymous strangers
Miui 11 update came last week on my other device and it has almost every Android 10 features...
Come on it shouldnt be hard. Even their heavy bloated miui phones took Android 10 update. Our phone is pure Android. It shouldnt take much time.

Yeah but they don't really like maintaining their AndroidOne devices I suppose.
Dear All,
I had been wondering if there was any chance to see a LOS16 (A9) port for this device?
I know LOS 17 has been ported which is really great.
I understand everyone is eager to get to the latest version of Android they can get, but I don't always like what comes next, not always better than what was there before, not to mention, often performances are not as even as good as they were before.
Of course sometimes you have to compromise to get that new feature you were looking for, but some other times you simply do not need it and would just be happy on earlier version.
I am quite satisfied with A9, it meets my needs so far, and for now I see no reason to move to A10.
Dont get me wrong, that's great we have all those new roms based on A10, I thank all the dev for that, but I am just curious if anything would come based on A9 or if that's just not possible because of some reasons I am not aware of.
Thank you very much!
Regards,

Or maybe someone could explain how to make a LOS16.x Rom for Redmi?
I am unsure how it works exactly but I guess it is about to mix some files? That should be doable since we have device tree no?
I am curious to learn how that works.
Thanks to anyone who could help.
Hi all!
I have been following and using LineageOS (before that Cyanogenmod) for a long time now, and I am looking into buying a new phone soon. I was scrolling around in the device downloads webpage, where I found almost only "nightly" builds.
Since I know that "nightly" does not mean "stable", does that mean that none of the builds are meant or ready for daily use? I ran LineageOS a long time ago on my Oneplus 7 Pro, but it was not stable enough feature-wise compared to OxygenOS. What is your experience running LineageOS on a modern phone these days?
I have looked around on this forum and this question popped up multiple times unanswered, although they are pretty old:
When to expect a stable version?
Hi, I am looking for a new phone and I want then install LineageOS on it and remove the pre-installed Android. But I also want a phone that is working and not one I have to solve problems and looking for new updates every day. So in short: I...

Any news on whether there will be Stable/Snapshot/M builds?
I haven't been able to find an answer on this topic. Lineage has announced and released weeklies and experimental builds, but haven't actually said those would be the only types of builds. Anybody know?
forum.xda-developers.com
If the question is answered somewhere obvious, sorry in advance. Please let me know.
Thanks!
Depends, I am quite happy with the official nightlies and deem them pretty stable. Just make sure to check any relevant threads (per device, either here on XDA or elsewhere).
Sometimes however, unofficial ones are better, eg if you want to use F2FS or other tweaks.
PS: Perhaps I am biased but why would I use a communist chinese OS on my phone? What feature can be that important? It's hard enough to escape google...

Very true, that alone should be worth it. You say Chinese, what phone do you use? Perhaps Xiaomi?

Yes and no. Personally I prefer my Fairphone "über alles" but a friend of mine wanted to replace her old S5 and the choice was Xiaomi Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G with 8GB.
Fun Fact: People selling it now for 120-160€, obviously without realizing they can put LOS20 on it
It's actually a pretty good phone and very light with just 160g.
May I ask how you did end up with OnePlus?
Friends kept pestering me with it ever since the first one but I just can't stand a phone without DualSIM and/or memory card. And the mafia like invite system back then didn't improve my opinion of them much either
I daily drove LOS on Mi 9 SE before. Now I daily drive LOS on Mi 11 LE (lisa). LOS is stable for me and can replace stock MIUI. The only problem I have on lisa is adaptive brightness. https://gitlab.com/LineageOS/issues/android/-/issues/5899 . Maintainer said it's caused by light sensor behind the screen. https://t.me/giostuffs/42366
LineageOS Device Support Requirements make sure hardware and software work well. You don't have to worry too much about stability and quality. I don't see such strict requirements in other custom rom project. https://github.com/LineageOS/charter/blob/master/device-support-requirements.md
"nightly" is confusing. Actually, LOS builds are updated weekly. "nightly" is the only release now. I consider it as stable release. It's nice to have weekly updates so that we can quickly get monthly security updates.

Seems they just kicked many open tickets in LOS19 without getting to it. As for me, I still have to find any LOS on any phone where it actually works. Alas, even stockROMs fail in this.
