Can someone confirm, when changing the shutter speed to 1 Seconds and up.
On broad daylight the screen isn't blanked up all white anymore?
When I play with the settings in dark environment everything is still working when I look at the pictures, only not visible on the shooter display. Changes under 1\2 seconds are still visible on the screen.
My camara app version is 4.52.34.6

White screen here. Which makes sense as the photo will turn out white as well
And isn't that normal considering the fixed aperture ?

Yep! A 1+ second exposure in daylight will be waaaaay overexposed.
When and where did this update happen?

No idea. My phone came with 10c, so I have nothing to compare it to.
Hello everyone,
Long story short, just bought nexus 5x, I have developed a few kernels in past for various devices, and I am little bit disappointed with n5x camera.
Phone does make awesome pictures, but it lacks longer shutter speeds, I would like to unlock it. Some people say that it is hardware limited, some that software, so here I am asking you how is it for real, and please, answer with any arguments, proofs, I would like to avoid guessing.
I would like to know if there is any sense in trying to unlock it and digging through source code.
Cheers
I managed to take photos with 1 s shutter speed with L Camera.

How did you do it? I could only select 1/6s as the slowest shutter speed.

Most probably fake Bulb mode, which is as stated by app creator - fake. Just multiple 1/6s pictures stacked up together

L Camera. And no, no fake, because I used to edit the DNG file in Photoshop.

Nexus 5 hardware is capable of capturing photos at 0.86s shutter speed (5x probably too). And this app uses this capability.
1 fps preview confirms this.

Huh, the older version of L Camera does indeed allow you to select 1/1,2 exposure and in the exif it's shown as 1s.

This one https://github.com/PkmX/lcamera/releases/download/v0.3/lcamera-debug.apk. The newest dev-build only allowed down to 1/6s.
Thank a lot.
Now I hope that will be possible to implement this feaute on other (more advanced) camera apps (fv5,proshot,....)

It does work, I will have a look at it
I confirm the with L-Camere 0.3 is possible to have a shutter time of 1s (if I select 1/1,2) and the night photos are incredible
I asked to ProShot developer if is possible to implement this feature on his great app. I hope that is possible....
Looks like HTC 10 has same camera sensor and it's camera app allows to use 2s shutter speed, unfortunately, none of htc camera app versions let's me go manual on our nexus.
Also Xiaomi YI 2 action camera has it, and it allows up to 30s while taking pics. So i guess I/we would have to edit camera libs. I also emailed lcamera creator but I don;t think that he will respond.

Hey guys, I have Nokia 8 (TA 1012) and I don't like the fact that the longest exposure time is 1/2 s. Can you help me override it? To unlock longer exposure time.
Hi guys,
Is there anyway to get the back camera lens replacement in India? If I switch it with any other lens like my old phones will it work?
The camera quality is horrible, to that of a 3 megapixel camera and it's all because I have so many scratches on the lens :crying:
Thanks for your reply
Just took this picture from it, that's not it used to look before.
Running beanstalk 6.0 btw

Only STOCK ROM knows how to 'talk' to the camera properly. CM based ROMs cannot. It's that simple. If camera quality is really important there is no alternative other than using stock ROM.
my phone does not flash when I take a picture even with the flash enable or in auto.
Can you try using a Flashlight or similar app to check whether flash turns on as torch?

Cool. Then its not a hardware issue. You can try reinstalling the camera app (If u have not already tried it).

How long ago did it stop working, was it after a update?
Just double checking. The flashlight works every time.... and if not you tried the hardware test right? This was a known issue on the 920's

the material does not have problem, it is at the level of the capture of the picture that it does not flash since in video mode it works perfectly.

yes I have done uninstall it and then reinstall.
You are basically taking shots in the dark on this (no pun intended)
Maybe list out all the things you have done, what OS version, and update the issue started occuring....not sure who can offer help on this or what you are willing to do.
Go back to 8.1 if you cannot figure it out. Swap the back cover just to see...
I can think of only 3 scenarios:
-OS update caused
-App udpate caused
-Signs of Hardware degredation--meaning to turn torch on takes different voltage/amps then a burst (camera flash), or is triggered differently. Maybe something on the board is not working right in conjunction with the app. If you rollback to 8.0 you will know for sure on this.
it was after a update.
Here is the leaked pixel 4 camera app

Running bootleggers rom 9.0
Be careful as this replaces your existing camera app and I don't think you can easily downgrade

You just uninstall the app updates from settings to revert back to stock.
