Doesn't work for me
You can with substratum
If you're rooted, Substratum and either "Swift Dark" or "Swift Black" themes used works pretty fine usually, but I haven't been able to use it for a while, since I don't want to root my device. But I found something new as of a week ago, a modded version of the app, that's actually a more up-to-date version than other previous mods: {Mod edit: Link removed. Oswald Boelcke}

All right, I flashed the latest Open Beta on my OnePlus 5 and even successfully rooted it.
When the Andromeda Project was initially announced, I was very excited to try it out. Now that we finally have Oreo on our beloved OnePlus 3, I thought to try it out.
I followed all the instructions:
Installed Substratum > Installed Andromeda > Installed the Desktop Client and followed the guide completely.
Still, NO LUCK
Any of you guys got any workaround to make this thing work on our OP3? This thread is open to discussing all the possibilities! :highfive:
Yes I got a workaround.
I rooted it.

Even I have rooted bro I am talking about full theming support.. Not just partial support
It works no root
When I installed substratum, it prompted me for root access and I granted it. Guess I shouldn't have. Could you please some screenshots of the themed dialer/settings/quick settings?
Mine not working ?
Greetings!
Quick question: I'm rooted and I tried substratum, but the themes that I tried are not working...
Is there any way to make substratum work with a rooted stock system??? Or, are the system layers kinda different from AOSP or so???
Best regards!

Wondering and wishing the same thing
Razer uses a signed theme system. That is why Substratum doesn't not work.
Also search the forums, the topic was already discussed ^_^

I've recently noticed this trying to apply substratum themes since i updated to Android Pie. None of the overlays compiles or applies. No overlays in manager either. Most times compiling does not even give any errors. I've tried most themes that claim Android 9.0 support.
Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this issue?

Substratum 1001.
Tried pitch black, mono/art, flux, Swift dark.
When i complete the there it creates a .Substratum folder on my storage. But when i reboot, it's gone.

Ah. Yeah version 1001 doesn't work on the P2XL. Uninstall the one you have, reboot, then use the one in the link. Also, when you build your overlays, select "build and update" then reboot, then enable them in substratum manager. Pitch Black works great. Be careful with the others especially when themeing system and system UI, they can shut your UI down. Pitch Black works on everything though :good:

Rooted of course ... But it's luck still apparently.
Same here as well.
Android 9 rooted
Flash kernel.
Substratum v1001
Multiple themes don't work. They appear to apply but the apps are not themed.
Working for me, Pie, Magisk v17.1, Flash Kernel, using Substratum v998. Are you doing Build and Enable, then rebooting, then toggling the overlay state? I'm using Ethereal for System (Pie support) and Swift Dark for some apps.

Have you tried clearing app cache/data a couple times? As well as uninstall/reinstall?
Use 998 and dont patch the substratum app when you install the themes

1001 working correctly here, on top of it being themed. 998 worked correctly here even when themed, so substratum itself likely isn't the issue. What theme are you using?
yeah im using 1001 fine aswell but 998 worked with a restart and 1001 doesnt even need a restart anymore. Try PitchBlack
Just updated from 998 to 1001, so far everything working as expected.. lets hope it stays that way!
Hey everyone
I just installed the December security patch.
Now that I have installed substratum, I can't find the installed overlays in the Overlay Manager. Tried themes like Swift dark and other themes. It still doesn't work.
Also I've updated the magisk manager to version 18.0 today.
Anyone facing the same issue with their device?
I'm using Pixel 2 XL
SOLVED: New substratum update available on play store.

No such issue on my P2XL. Have you tried clearing substratum app cache and data? And/or uninstall/install substratum again?

Yes I've reinstalled both the app and the theme.

Substratum is not compatible with the new Magisk 18. As far as I know, a new version is worked on right now. You either have to wait or use Magisk 17.3.

Yes it has the access to the root.
May be the new magisk update is the problem.

I just can't stand the white pages everywhere; it drives me both blind and crazy, so I'll stick to 17.3 for the time being.
Yeah I can confirm latest Magisk 18 breaks Substratum, so either stay on 17.3 or deal with being blinded by white backgrounds. Tbh I'm really surprised Google hasn't managed to figure out a way to actually turn all white backgrounds either grey or black, Samsung a has actually done it before them with the new OneUI lol
Shame on you Google.

This explains the difficulties I was having getting some overlays to work. Thank you
Try flashing Magisk 18 in the Magisk manager app itself instead of in twrp, I was having problems gaining root until I did that. I'm currently on ver 18 with Substratum working.
There is a new update available for substratum on the Google play. I hope this resolves the issue.
Edit: It's working fine now.

Thats how I installed mine and Substratum still broke.
Anyways that's a moot point now, new Substratum release on Play Store fixes the problem.

Even with Substratum taken out of the equation, I was having problems getting root with Magisk 18 until I flashed within Magisk app and chose recommended install option.
I'm on December update, have latest substratum after fresh install of latest update from Google. Magisk 17.1
I can compile a theme and they all show. When I restart and then try and change overlay state, it tells me to compile first ??!! Any idea

I've bootlooped before when installing the 17.3 zip in twrp. What's the safest way to upgrade to 18

Just let magisk upgrade itself from within the magisk manager app. Worked without issue for me :good:
Did it with twrp and worked. Thanks again!!!
Install the MinitResources app first. Then flash the zip in TWRP. In order to get additional battery options you will need to install the 3Minit battery app from playstore. Stock only

Will this work with a Custom rom? Or only for stock?
Thanks as always!!

Sorry!!

From experience with making 3minit mods in the nougat days. Custom would have a customized SystemUI. So a new mod would need to be created for each Rom and most likely each update.

Awsome I look forward to getting 3minit battery again when my Pixel 3 xl shows up tomorrow
Installed the resources app.
Went to Magisk app to install module. Install failed. Rebooted to TWRP and installed magisk version. Success?
Rebooted, don't see 3Minit app. See 3minit in Magisk module list.
Should I install the non-magisk version via TWRP? Do I need to uninstall the Magisk version first? I'll assume so and report back in a bit.
Edit: See screen shot and log. I uninstalled the magisk version and rebooted. Then I rebooted again into TWRP and installed the non-magisk version. I still don't see the 3Minit app. Do I need to install it separately? Am I just silly?
Edit: Oh, I was being silly. Downloaded the app from github. Limited options with free, but $2 is worth this level of work. Thanks!
How do I uninstall the non-magisk version? I'd prefer to only use the magisk mods.
Edit: nvm, found this thread. Just going to use the adb installer.
