I reset my P6P and gave it to my wife to replace her 4XL. Everything worked as expected except there is no magic eraser. All apps are updated and Android is on the October update. Anyone have an idea how to fix this?
It's there for me (in the Photos app) when I tap on Tools,& Magic Eraser is there.
My Samsung phone is kinda similar in that you have to exit the camera app & then go to the Gallery app for all of the editing features to show up.
Edit @davidh59
I tested this on my Pixel 6 Pro with pix taken from this phone & pix taken from other phones & the Magic Eraser works.
FWIW & you're probably aware of this, the Google Photos app on non-Pixel phones does not have the Magic Eraser option.
Uninstalling and then reinstalling Google photos fixed the problem.

Have just realised Google photos back up doesn't back up Samsung motion pictures it just backs up as a normal picture is there anyway to fix or retrieve these pictures so that motion pictures work again ? It seems to back up pixel and iPhone motion pictures but shows no love for Samsung and yes I have the motion picture remover option turned off in Google photos which would only save motion pictures as a normal picture.
Hi! I have similar problem with note9.
1. Live photos that made on samsung camera app on android version lower then 9 not recognizable as motion by google photos. So probably backup can also remove it. But backup in full format, download it back to phone and try to play it with samsung gallery. Not sure, but it should keep file as is, without reformatting. This works in this way on my wife's S8+ (still android 8.0)
2. After I got android 9 on my note9, with new samsung camera app, live photos detected as "motion included" in google photos.
But not playable in google photos (same via web), export to video of gif gives an error too.
Full size backup and restore keeps the motion.
Smells like google photos service bug, but looks like google don't care.
Now, when I retested all this behaviour..
Now, when I retested all this behaviour, google photos restore live photos without motion!!!
Attached screenshots.
Google Lens is "compatible" on Tab S4 (WiFi, SM-T830) but the Google app (Lens is included in this app) crashes all the time. That is my problem.
When I want open Google Lens over different ways, Google Lens crashes. I tried to open it in Google Photos and with the Lens Launcher app from the Play Store. Sometimes Google Lens re-launches after the crash in Google Photos and it works.
Google Lens is available in my country and it works on my OnePlus. I am also logged in. That's not the reason for the crash.
I also tried different versions of the Google app and I also resetted my Galaxy Tab S4. The issue is present since the start and the update to Pie didn't solve it.
The answer of the Samsung support was: please contact Google.
Does anyone have an idea to fix the issue or to get the reason for it?
I would suggest to reflash the whole system.
I am not interested to root the tablet or install a custom rom.
the same problem after update pie9 on T830 - the application closes continuously - crashes...
(on my op5 oos 9.0.5 works very well without problem )
Hello there,
Recently after updating my OnePlus 7t to open beta 3 I've noticed a strange issue with the cameras. About 2 hours after every reboot camera related features start malfunctioning. I can't use face unlock, because "camera is being used by other apps", I can neither use the stock camera app because I get a toast notification saying "the camera is in use". The main back and front camera seems to be working in every other app like snapchat, gcam (although telephoto and ultrawide don't work on gcam). After reboot everything goes back to normal for some time.
I tried:
- cleaning data of all camera services and the camera app itself and face unlock app
- re-adding my face model
- uninstalling AUX camera magisk fix (which enables telephoto and ultrawide to work in gcam)
Is anyone else having this issue? Iwould love to solve this problem without reverting back to open beta 2, as it lacks some features I like in OB3. Thanks in advance for help!

I am facing the same issue with the latest beta update? Got any fix for this?
Are you sure you dont have some app spying on you. Probably using the camera thats why its being reported in use
It's caused by GCam. Not sure about stock OOS cam.

I doubt it, as the issue is only in stock Oxygen OS apps (camera, face unlock). My theory is that they use some camera service made by Oneplus which has broke in my phone. Other apps, such as Snapchat or Gcam do not utilise such service, and the main cameras work just fine in those apps (telephoto and ultrawide don't work, because they propably must be accesed via this service). But it's just my theory
So I have tried to find the answer with no luck. How do I switch my text app, Facebook, Instagram apps to use Google photos as the default instead of Samsung photo app?
It will use both, just add a shortcut to Google Photos on your homescreen where Samsung Gallery was and use that instead
That definitely didn't solve the problem. It's just using the Samsung photo gallery, and doesn't even give me the option to make Google photos as my default.

Try setting google photos as default app for photos will do.

I am having the same issue. There's no way to change the stock Gallery app to google photos. When I had my pixel, my apps would source directly from Google Photos, and I guess I was spoiled. Even if a photo wasn't downloaded and I selected it to send, it would forward it after it downloaded.
It's a pretty dumb situation honestly with this phone. Your text app you can use the Google photo app, but anything else like , IG or Facebook you have to go into Google photos app and download it to the phone so the picture you want to post goes into the stupid Samsung gallery. I bought the app that someone had suggested to disable the Samsung gallery app and it didn't work. Also when you disable the app, it effects other apps on the phone, so you are pretty much screwed. Besides the fingerprint scanner, I think this whole, not being able to just use the Google photo app as default for everything is the next biggest ****ty thing about this phone. I still love the phone, but you pay the big bucks and you still have to deal with issues like this, when phones half the price offer these two things better. Oh well I guess?

TL;DR:
You can download the modded Open Camera app for the Pixel 6 Pro from the project’s GitHub repository. Note that the modded app only supports the Pixel 6 Pro, and it won’t work on the regular Pixel 6. As the developer notes, the modded Open Camera app isn’t as capable as the stock camera app on the Pixel 6 Pro. But, at least, it works.

Facing issues with the Pixel 6 Pro’s camera app? Try this Open Camera modAlthough the Pixel 6 lineup has received rave reviews, the latest flagships from Google are far from perfect. Over the last few months, we’ve seen several reports of Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro users facing various issues, ranging from poor fingerprint scanner performance to sub-par network connectivity. While Google has addressed some of these issues via software updates, the company is yet to fix an annoying issue with the default camera app on the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro that makes the device unusable.
We’ve come across various reports on Google’s support website and Reddit claiming that the default camera app on the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro crashes frequently and makes the device unusable. Whenever this issue pops up, users are left with no choice but to hard reboot their device, making the entire ordeal rather annoying.
Some users report that factory resetting the phone doesn’t seem to help either, and the issue persists even after installing the February 2022 update, which included a fix for the “issue causing device reboot when using camera in certain conditions.” Fed up with the issue, a Pixel 6 Pro user has released a modded version of the Open Camera app that offers disgruntled users temporary relief.
As mentioned in several reports, the issue seems to be limited to the default camera app on the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. Third-party camera apps, like Open Camera, seem to work as intended. However, since Open Camera doesn’t support the Pixel 6 Pro’s ultra-wide camera and has a tricky zoom slider, it isn’t an ideal alternative to the stock camera app. Thankfully, the modded Open Camera build from Cameron Kaiser offers a relatively better solution.
The modded Open Camera app for the Pixel 6 Pro adds a button on the screen that makes the zoom a bit easier to control. Although it still doesn’t include support for the ultra-wide camera, it’s better than using the stock camera app for one simple reason — it doesn’t crash. So, if you’ve been facing this camera crashing issue on your Pixel 6 Pro, you should give it a go.
You can download the modded Open Camera app for the Pixel 6 Pro from the project’s GitHub repository. Note that the modded app only supports the Pixel 6 Pro, and it won’t work on the regular Pixel 6. I'm sure its not universal. If it was a problem for MOST/ALL people, then you can bet that gooble would fix it pretty fast.
