Hi All
Any one else having issues connecting Bluetooth devices? And any fixes or work arounds
Thanks
Is it all bt devices or just some?
Network reset. Samsung Wearables Manager must have all it's permissions enabled to work... a stupid simple fix for this nosey Parker of an app.
Thanks is all Bt devices and tried both them and it just fails to connect. I get no dialogue box up to enter a pin code in
try removing the pair and then re-pair it again, might also need to clear the bluetooth cache.

Did you use SmartSwitch to load anything?
It can screw up settings.
Try safe mode. 3rd party can alter hidden user settings rarely but it happens. Either correct the change (easier said than done)or factory reset.
You can try the less nuclear option of reset of settings before a factory reset. Don't use SmartSwitch if you reload.
Maybe a firmware or hardware issue. Return it if you can. This isn't normal.
When I have BT issues I clear the cache (settings > apps > Bluetooth) and then reboot my phone. This typically clears up any BT issue I'm having.

Can try a hard (vs soft) reboot too.

Yeah I went from a s21 using smart switch so I have to do a factory reset? Or how do I get in safe mode?

Try clearing the system cache, a hard reboot and in safe mode first. Not sure how it's done for that Samsung. Bare in mind if you don't ID the cause of the issue it can reoccur even after the reset.
Ok will see what can find thanks
I am also having problems with Bluetooth on my Fold 4 . Unable to clear bluetooth cache in system apps as Storage screeen has both cache and data buttons greyed out.
"Device Control" lists multiple entries of the same bluetooth device but cannot see hoe to delete them.
Would prefer not to do a network reset unless it's only option.

So I have a busted screen, and due to work email and such, I'd like to wipe the phone before sending it back. I have attempted to navigate the factory reset with the buttons with no success. Any suggestions? The phone is factory unlocked.
Help is much appreciated!

You have a few options.
Get the screen fixed.
Buy an mhl cable and show the screen on a TV, do what you like from there.
Not 100% but try adb commands through a PC and see if there is one to wipe the phone.
Again not 100% but you could use USB OTG to communicate and type in the code within the dialer to wipe the phone.
Flash an ruu, this should nuke the devices memory AFAIK.
There are probably more ways but they're what I would try first.
Or change your password on your work email, if you use a client like good, you can remove it from the device and the password will stop people entering it anyway, not to mention that its sandboxed.
If you have a password (pattern or pin) and you're rooted then you can easily remove them from TWRP recovery by deleting one file, however would the people who get the broken phone go to those lengths?
Hope this helps.
Hi,
I have stock Marshmallow on my LG G4 and it somehow just stopped responding. At the startup there is an "android.com.phone stopped working" popup. After clicking OK, it dissapears and the phone doesn't respond for any unlocking attempts. After triple tap, the "magnifying lense" works and thats basically it. Before performing a factory reset I would like to get my data(photos, videos, possibly messages) backed up. But after connecting USB cable it is connected with "Loading only" option. I can't change it to mass storage or MTP. The phone works in background, I can see once in a while new notifications about updating apps etc. I tried using Safety Mode, same things happen.
Is there a way to change USB option remotely or perform a reset without losing all data? Since I never used USB debugging on this phone, I assume it is disabled.
Thanks for any help.

Hello everyone,
Yesterday, after I tried to charge my LG G4, it stopped booting properly: it seems to boot "normally" under the hood, except that the system UI is not properly loading so instead I get a black screen and a message "Unfortunately system UI stopped working". If I click "ok", it comes back within two seconds (the screen stays black apart from the error message). I cannot do anything, like unlock the phone or access anything on it, despite the fact that I can hear notifications coming in.
Unfortunately phone is not rooted, developper mode isn't enabled, and I don't have a custom recovery. I would do a factory reset if it weren't for my Google Authenticator codes, some of which I haven't properly backed up like an idiot. Thus I was wondering what I could do to back up my phone or solve the issue.
Here is what I've already tried:
Press down VOLUME DOWN + POWER to enter recovery mode, but since I don't have custom recovery this only gives me the option to do a hard factory reset and lose all my data.
Use adb commands to access my phone, but I get "unauthorized device" because I haven't enabled developper tools on the phone.
Use the app "LG Bridge" on my mac, but it also doesn't work for the above reason.
I see three possibilities, but I don't know whether any is genuinely doable:
Solve the issue of the error message, which from what I've read requires me to wipe the cache. But how to do that without custom recovery?
Somehow bypass the UI to unlock the phone and unable developer tools
Manage to backup the phone from my computer while its locked without developper tools enabled.
Note that obviously this is my phone, I know my passwords, I have access to my Google account, etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, without my Google Authenticator data I'll be locked out of an important email account.

Well at least you can backup your phone in download mode with SALT ( https://bit.do/SALTatXDA ) but restoring is another story.
Sent from my LG-H815 using XDA Labs
Thanks a lot for your reply! I'll try backing up with SALT tonight. There are two things I'm wondering:
How do you think I could extra data from the backup?
Will I be able to wipe the cache or enable usb debugging with SALT? That might solve the issue.

You can mount the userdata partition on Linux (e.g in FWUL) and then browse through it like it's on your phone.
You can wipe the cache paetition in SALT yes. It's in the advanced menu there (erase partitions -> select cache and only that). It will not wipe the dalvik cache though.
I dunno about the USB debugging though. Maybe there is a way but if so you would need a very unrestricted download mode (depends on model and firmware). And the whole process is not easy.
It requires again SALT and there you have in the advanced menu the option to open a shell.
Here you can mount userdata with
mount /data
But it's usually mounted already. Then it's a try and error. You could e. G. try to delete the dalvik cache etc.

Hi!
I've found out that the Google Auth keys are in /data/data/com.google.android.apps.authenticator2/databases/databases. So I need to backup /data/. However, when I show the list of partitions with SALT, I don't see /data/. Is there a way to backup /data/ on my unrooted device?
Secondly, I haven't managed to wipe the dalvik cache with the command shell, would you be able to point me in the right direction?
Thank you so much!
Recently some users including me are having issues with BT Connection, device search, setting device name and making changes persistent.
BT MODULES THAT IT WAS TEST ON:
SD-968 - [HA] [MCU MTCE 2.75] Firmware 20180201 and few earlier = WORKS
MD725 - [??] [MCU ???] Oreo Firmware = DO NOT WORK (According to feedback) LogCat needed to see if Firmware communicate with BT Module at all.
METHOD 1 (SHORTER):
1. Force Stop BT app
2. Clear DATA and CACHE for BT app
METHOD 2 (LONGER):
Here are the steps I've done to make it work.
1. Boot device (restart if it was not in deep sleep)
2. Directly go to system BT settings (drop notification and tap on BT)
3. Set Device name and PIN
4. Press refresh
5. Go to Home Screen (Home Button)
6. Open BT App -> Configuration
7. Name and PIN should be entered now
8. Disable/enable Auto Connect and exit app
9. reenter app and configuration to enable Auto connect
10. Make sure that all previous BT profiles for HU are deleted on phone and that phone is visible for all devices (usually when BT configuration is open device is visible)
11. Try to search for devices. It should fail (it failed for me)
12. Go to factory settings
13. Change BT Device even it is wrong one (I have SD-968 I changed to MD725)
14. Tap Apply -> Exit -> CANCEL on reboot prompt (without doing step 13 there will be no scheduled restart)
15. Reenter Factory settings and set correct BT Module (I have SET SD-968) Tap Apply -> Exit -> and Confirm REBOOT
16. After Reboot Go to BT App and try to search for phone it should be found (make sure it is visible like in step 10)
17. If all is OK you should see the phone and you should be able to use it normally (it worked for me)
Attached pictures of some steps for METHOD 2.
NOTE: I'm ATM at HA 6.0.1 Firmware from 20180201 and issue happened after upgrade. Also from what I see Users have same issue with and after Oreo update. Hope I helped
Thanks for the info. Have you tried this method also for oreo rom as well ?
A step that worked for me was to clear data and cache for bluetooth app..

Good point it didn't worked for me but, it can also help. Added to main post.
You can trigger a reboot with "hctreboot" in factory settings. Does that work instead of doing steps 12-15?
I definitely have the BT issue. I have an Xtrons(GS) MTCD/E PX5 Oreo and an Xtrons brand OBDII. They won't talk or disconnect. I'll try this tomorrow morn and report back.

Point of 12-15 is that HU re init Module itself along with software. Not sure if it works that way on MTCD/E but usually it works on modular systems.
Tried with PX5 oreo installed with no luck. Both methods are not working for me.

What???(I thought that this was a trick for oreo)
In my unit BT(MD725) works without any tricks for MM.
I tried your trick with 2 kinds of oreoROM(HA and GS) but BT did not work.
Thanks anyway
I'm sorry, but as I wrote I have SD-968 BT module not MD725. I'll update main thread with so far know to work devices.
Any news?

Not that I know, I'll be back from Trip on Sunday, so I hope I'll finally finish the tests and upgrade to Oreo in April.
seems to be the same
The solution is to go back to android 6, the problem is that it is not as fluid in my case as android 8.
Hi, same problem here....
I can not use my ODB2 connector on my Android 8 radio either.
Is there an adapter that works?
Is there a trick to make it work?
Greetings and thank you!!
Hi..any update on how to get the bluetooth working on android 8..

if you still have android 8 installed, try going to factory setting and change the BT Device even it is wrong one (anything other then MD725) tap apply and exit and reboot.
after reboot change the BT device back to the original one (MD725) tap apply and exit and reboot.
after reboot go to the system BT and try to search if the phone name appears let me know.
i still didn't try the above method on android 8, but if anyone with MD725 module is still using android 8 please try and update us.
thanks

Dasaita MMCNP - BT connection problem
Hi, I have Dasaita HA2106-V840-8 a problem with Bluetooth connectivity. First time I managed to connect my phone to Dasaita MMCP (car_kit), but after a few days the devices failed to connect. I guess my device has embedded SD968 BT chip, in accordance with the description.
When I enter the name of the device and new PIN in BT settings, and then turn on finding the device, they are not visible to each other. I tried this other day too, but when I turned MMCP, entered settings was gone (not memorized). No name, no PIN, but also there is no connection. Search doesn't have results. At the end I tried to unpair devices and pair them again, but I get a message on my phone "Unable to communicate with CAR_KIT".
When I entered in settings for BT (settings/car/factory setting/application-choose...) it was set to WQ_BC6. And then I tried to set up SD_BC6, reboot, search BT, nothing was found again. Then I returned to WQ_BC6, reboot, search BT, without success. In the end, I tried to set up SD968, but it's not worth it anyway, MMCP does not see a mobile phone. I also tried several phone models without success. I also went to the BT application and clear data and cache, but always the same thing - BT devices do not see each other. I'm not even sure BT is ON because it doesn't have a special slider to move On/Off.
What should I do? Please help me!
Hi,
I'm facing serious problem with freeze and reboot frequently :crying:
My Gemini PDA is Japanese keyboard layout and 4G+WiFi type.
I tried to do following action for checking what root cause is.
- I removed microSD card and SIM card
- I rebooted by manual and connect to WiFi network.
But nothing was changed.
I also tried a soft reset from "backup and reset" -> "data reset" in Android OS settings but nothing was improved.
Does anyone have similar or same problem like me?
One more thing:
Planet Computer support suggested me full factory reset.
But I could not find how to do it. I tried it by pressing both ESC(power) button and side button simultaneously
but there is no available command like full reset.
Any suggestion or information is welcome!
Best regards
Akira
additional info.
I tried to find when freeze problem happens as following.
1) Input method conflict
1st time, I installed Google Japanese language input and activate both Google's and Gemini keyboard input. This may make conflicts and freeze problem was happened.
I disabled Gemini keyboard input and leave Google's input as active.
It looked reducing the error rate but not fixed yet.
2) Evernote app
When evernote app syncs with cloud 1st time, freeze problem happened. This happens only once.
3) Playing movie file from google photo app
Some times happens.
4) initial setting up
So I did reset of my data and apps on Android OS.
But reboot problem might be getting worse.
Inputting my google account like "[email protected]" but frozen and reboot happened before inputting "@" character.
I tried to find root cause by removing SIM card but the problem happened again.
I asked my Japanese Gemini users if they are facing similar problem but no one faced the problem.
reflashing image but nothing changed
Hi,
I got suggestion from Planet Computer's support team that flashing image might fix the problem.
I tried it but nothing was improved.
I already sent the result to team. I hope they will pick my pda up then replace it.

By the way, it does not need install flash tool driver if you use Windows10.
Just launching Flash tool works without installation of the driver.
