I don't like the darker colors the 3D glass creates. This is why I'm using the SecondScreen app to optimize the screen resolution!

I've noticed that the lockscreen adds a dark tint on the wallpaper.
Is there anyway to remove that dark tint (regedit perhaps)? Really ruins some colorful pictures and makes already dark pictures even darker =/
Thanks!
not sure what you mean - the screen dims after a little while but i havent noticed this problem on my omnia 7 - what device are you using?

It's not the screen that is the problem, it's the wallpaper that is slightly tinted.
The information text is clear white but the wallpaper I have in the background is somewhat darker than the original (compared if I open it up in the pictures hub).
Try opening a picture and see the brightness, and then set is as lockscreen wallpaper and look at it again on your lockscreen. It is slightly darker.

It's slightly darker on the lock screen, but it doesn't bother me. It's so little...
I know its probably not what you want to hear but how about install one of the many photo editing programs? For example Thumba Photo Editor lets you adjust brightness and contrast
Yeah, I guess I'll have to edit the pictures beforehand.
Would be easier if there was a registrytweak or something instead
Thanks for your responses
Hi everyone
I noticed that some pictures - mostly 960x800 wallpapers with plain colors transition look good on a computer but in Desire they look like in a "less colours mode" (like not 16bit but 256colours)
it is the same in the gallery - they are smooth when you browse them, but after there is just one on the screen - it sharpens and smooth color transition is lost and they look bad set as wallpaper
i cannot attache a pic but the color transition is not smooth but graduate..
some other pic like face photos, bigger resolution looks OK
is it just a pic/wallpaper issue? is there way to convert those pic to look better?
Might be the file format of the pic. Depends on the depth of the pic as well. If normal images are fine then it'll be the wallpapers.
Just made some tests... it's not a pic
I installed "quic pic" - another photobrowser from android market - and it shows pics very good
- contrarywise I would say - first- pic is loaded quickly - then the quality gets better - looks 24 bit
but when I click - set as a wallpaper - it goes back to showing crappy image, like 8 bit depth...
choosing to set wallpaper directly by the "quic pic" - sets the wallpaper right -like 24 bit, great colours transition...
Everyone knows that when you apply a wallpaper with the default Gallery app it crops only a small part of the picture. Hence your wallpaper will most probably look somewhat blurred because it's been scaled up to fit the screen.
The overall resolution of Galaxy Nexus is 720 x 1280
Resolution without the navigation bar is 720 x 1184
Resolution without navbar or notification bar is 720 x 1134
1134 pixel height is huge. Even a 1080p picture would need to be scaled up a few pixels. But because Gallery crops at least 10% off both edges the original picture would need to be much higher than just 1134 pixels to have no upscaling and quality loss.
So I was wondering if anyone knows what is the exact size the picture should be to get no scaling at all when applying a wallpaper?
I know I could use 3rd party apps to avoid cropping but I'd like to know how to do this with the default app.
I do believe that (according to many sources, like some wallpaper threads in this forum) the proper size is 1440x1280. Almost all wallpapers that are found in the Themes and Apps section are already resized to this size to fit your nexus.
EDIT: I forgot to add that in order to use the whole image, drag the cropping square to fill up the whole image when you're using the size I mentioned above. That would guarantee no upscaling.

If you follow previous pattern for wallpaper this should be correct. There's also a ton of high res wallpaper sites that have higher res images. Don't think only in 1080p, ton of PC users are on 2560x1600.
Finally after 2 days of hardwork I managed to publish the new edition of wallpaper app and its online now as QHD Ultra Wallpaperz HD.
TRY is, its faster and better.

Get it now.
thank you for this app. Some hints:
1. That low res icon and other elements in this app contrasts with high resolution wallpapers. Think about high res icon and ads in the bottom
2. when I click set as wallpaper app crashes
I might be the only one (I didn't find similar complaints) but I don't like how S4 renders black text on white background. It's as if the "sharpness" setting was too high, plus I notice colorful artifacts coming from subpixel font antialiasing (for people not knowing what I'm talking about: forums.macrumors.com/attachments/screen-shot-2013-03-12-at-5-10-16-pm-png.402071/. In the past I didn't have problems with sub-pixel rendering, but the way S4 does it bothers me.
I tried changing screen modes and using custom fonts but nothing helps. After updating to Pie it's a little better but still not as nice as I get on my monitor or a phone.
So to sum up I would like to have two settings which I can't currently find anywhere:
- enabling grayscale font antialiasing
- reducing "sharpness"
The question is if the Modesty ROM or other roms have support for these settings, or they change the rendering engine?
