Hi I am trying to unlock my s6 edge through Tmobile. I am eligible for the unlock with 100 dollars prepaid and 15 days since I activated it.
They have been trying to unlock it but the apps says fail and the rep told me it's already unlocked. I haven't tried with a diff sim card but I wanna know if it's perm or just the 30 days if a diff sim card works?
edit: already tried with a non tmobile sim and it says the phone is still locked. Call tmobile to let them know and they said they will answer in 24 hours to solve the unlock problem.
Hello everyone! I have spent so much time troubleshooting and have been so disappointed from this issue. Okay I will try to be as detailed as possible.
The phone in question is galaxy s20 ultra, originally sprint branded. I purchased the phone from a friend, that used it on sprint and it was totally paid off, and he initially stated at that time it was unlocked.
I insert my cricket wireless sim into the s20 ultra and it indicates it's locked and to contact the carrier.
So we called sprint , he stated what we were trying to do, which was use the s20 ultra with a cricket sim. They went through some steps , I can recall something about uicc unlock, and then the sprint rep said to insert the cricket sim, and once we did, no more unlock notice, no error messages or anything at all. Totally good. Worked great for a month until I decided in hopes of overall better service, data speeds and pricing, to try out US mobile.
Sooo now the real issue, once I placed in the black US mobile sim (verizon) , I had manually update apn settings with us mobile rep. Basically everything was good, top right corner of screen reads Verizon , however, only issue was no volte, so could not use data while on a call. The rep did some more settings ,which I cant clearly recall now, it was extensive, but now the volte is good, can access data while on a call, but top corner reads roaming indicator off.(eye sore) also after extensive settings changes and resets that us mobile rep performed , caused OMADM active your device, but it keeps failing and gives an error. And a notification for it stays on top corner. Only to get rid of it temporarily is to force stop but it comes back once phone re starts , any suggestions on how to remove these notifications?

If anyone is interested the Straight Talk S20 FE G781U1 phones that you can get from Walmart during the Black Friday event are sim unlocked, at least the one that I picked up is.
Unfortunately it looks like they are on more recent build numbers. The one I got is 5DUH1 which is too recent for the bootloader unlock that you can find on on XDA.
Not intending this to be an advertisement for Walmat but rather an FYI for anyone looking for an S20 FE 5G for an unbeatable price. I've been watching Swappa for awhile and the price is much lower than anything I've seen there.
Before I bought it I assumed it would be locked to Straight Talk and I would have to try to find a third party source to do the Sim unlock. Does not seem to be the case. I put in the sim card from my work phone and was able to make a call on At&t network.
Out of the box it is One UI version 3.1, Android 11, August 2021 security patch. It has the typical Google and Samsung bloat but I don't see anything on it related to Straight Talk or Tracfone. It came with a Straight Talk Sim but I pulled it out before the first boot. After starting booting with the At&t sim it shows software provider version as ATT/ATT/XXA.
I'll be getting this one set up for the better half on T-mobile to upgrade her from the LG v30 that has been great but she wants a better camera and the S20 FE is a significant upgrade in that respect along with many other improvements.
Thanks for sharing the information. I ordered the same phone and I was thinking to get a cheap Tracfone plan for this phone. But, I guess I don't need to do it anymore if it is unlocked.
Does the phone shows Tracfone or ST logo when it boot up? Does it come with any of Tracfone app like "Device Info" & 1Weather bloatware?

I bought two from my local Walmart. Neither have any straight talk bloat or any straight talk logos while booting or other wise.
Same here, no Straight Talk or Tracfone branding other than an extra wrapper on the box that says Straight Talk.
Also, it came with a Straight Talk Sim installed but I took that out prior to first boot up.
Only google and Samsung bloat installed. Nothing that looked like it was affiliated with Straight Talk or Tracfone.
After verifying that it wasn't locked I have since installed the a T-Mobile Sim and it seems to be working fine on the existing postpaid T-Mobile Plan. Didn't have to do anything special to make that work. The software provider shows TMB/TMB/XXA as expected.
It appears that Wifi Calling and Hotspot are both working with the T-mobile sim. I haven't had a chance to verify that it's working on all T-Mobile frequencies but I also don't know if band 71 is available in my area. No reason at the moment to expect that not to be working.
I saw this morning that Walmart was now listing this phone at $319 so I assume the Black Friday offer is over but $319 is still a pretty good deal. I would think this would have to drive down the prices on Swappa.
Several sellers in Japan are selling almost new Verizon Samsung Galaxy S20 5G UW for around 300 USD.
I understand the sim is locked to Verizon. Is there a way to unlock it?
As far as I know, the Verizon s20 doesn’t even ask for an unlock code when another carrier’s SIM is inserted, so it seems most eBay services don’t work.
The seller said it would be automatically unlocked after 60 days after purchase (or activation? I’m not sure), but I’m not convinced that this will work because the seller never inserted Verizon sim in it . The 60 day unlock only works if you are in the US and use Verizon sim for 60 days right?
So is there any other way or free/paid service to unlock the SIM?
(I live in Japan. Checked the IMEI provided by the seller and it’s clean)
I need help with my Samsung S20 (SM-G781V) from Verizon, I need to unlock the network but I don't know how to do it, is there any firmware with network unlock? Can I install a firmware from Chile of the SM-G780 model?
I already purchased the s20 ultra 5G from Amazon with the Verizon firmware and lock. I had already tried changing the ROM to de G988U1 (Unlock firmware) and in the first 5 mins works with a different SIM but then the phone display a message blocking the signal of the SIM that doesn't was Verizon.
Also i had paid the unlock service and they (the unlock service) cant give me the unlock codes because Verizon never answered the requested.
So I still had searching for a different solution than purchasing a Verizon SIM with a 60 days plan.
Plis if someone know a different form tell us. ( Maybe root the phone, but I dont have any experience with that)
hey folks, I purchased Tmobile version of fold 4 and as usual, it came with a new sim card. I already got a new sim card from my S22 Ultra purchase back in Feb. Does anyone know if the new sim is any different from the one I got from S22 Ultra purchase? I'm currently using the S22 ultra one in my zfold 4 and want to move to esim. So trying to figure out if I should first move to the new/latest sim and then move to esim. Thank you folks.

Don't believe so, I'm using the one I used in my Note 20 Ultra and Pixel 6 Pro. Getting good coverage and data with it. Pixel 6 Pro was getting 61 Mbps DL speed on it, the Fold 4 is getting 159Mbps on the same sim card. I have a Samsung unlocked 512Gb model on the T-Mobile network.

The problem with eSim is that anytime you want to switch your phone, with a sim card, just place that sim in your new device. With an eSim, you need to notify your carrier of the switch and if they don't approve of the device on their network, you're SOL. It also limits your freedom further as to which phones you can actually use. Plain and simple, eSim is just another way for carriers and manufacturers to limit your abilities and to lock you into their ecosystem.
