Step by step guide to... - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

Hello guys, I haven't used my tablet for a while and now I discovered that many apps like YouTube etc. won't work due to outdated software, Samsung has discontinued support and now am looking for a step by step guide to upgrade or replace operating system on my Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) with the hope to salvage the device to an acceptable level.
I have searched everywhere but couldn't find anything. Unfortunately I am not savvy.
Apologies if that has been already posted/ requested.
Thank you for your time!

There are a few variants of that model which have various storage capacities, LTE etc...
There seems to be some support at E Foundation which brings some variants up to Android 9

I also saw some experimental work developing Android 12 here on XDA

[Q] Porting Note 10.1/2 ROMS to Note 8 possible?

Hello, xdaDevs,
I recently got my Galaxy Note 8.0 (N5110) and I was surprised by the tiny number of ROMs for it.
Well, I thought I may be able to do something about that.
First off, I've not asked anyone about permissions to port their ROM yet.
So, what got me interested in porting a ROM for the Note 8 was a tutorial on XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2284985
As the Note 8.0 and the 10.1n hardware looks mostly the same ( Both have an Exynos 4412, the 10.1 has Rev 1.1 and the Note 8 has Rev 2.0, they share a Mali-400 GPU, the resolution is the same as is the soundchip. )
A problem could be the lack of HW-Buttons on the Note 10.1...
So, xdaDevs, following the tutorial on the site I linked to above, how likely will I succeed? How likely will I brick my device if I have made a Nandroid backup on TWRP?
Is there anything I haven't considered?
someone's ported the galax Y 8rom to the gn2 so I'd suspect the 101 to the 8 should be doable.

[Q] Multi-Window on Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0

Hi, I am new to this forum and new to Samsung Galaxy devices. I own an iPhone 5 and have it Jailbroken, but that's besides the point. I know that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 does not have the Multi-Window feature but I was wondering would rooting the galaxy tab 3 give me that feature somehow? I have been looking online and could not find any direct answers and I stumbled here because I hear this is the place for answers on rooting Samsung devices. Please let me know if any one would know, thanks and Happy New Year.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 GT-P5210 Downgrading

I have a SGT 3 GT-P5210 running Android 4.2.2 . But for some developing reasons I want to downgrade it to 4.0.3 ICS.
I have searched a lot on the web, but I couldn't find not even 1 ROM for 4.0.3 dedicated for my device.
I also have a look at this xda thread but nobody gives an answer in the end: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582179
I am actually thinking that it is completely impossible to find a ROM for my purposes, due to many reasons.
Is this right? Or does anyone have a link at such a ROM?
The scenario of just trying to flash a ROM of SGT 2 won't work due to the Intel Atom Processor of GT 3...Not saying that it could work otherwise...
Thanks in advance.
If you every heard of porting then google how to port and there is a lot of guides, so that can help you make a rom for your own then if it works upload it and share it with community

I googled for porting and I found some very interesting articles and guides. But it seems it is not possible for my purposes. The Port ROM has to be for the same processor type (Galaxy Tab 3 -> Intel Atom) and of the same manufacturer as of the Base ROM's (Samsung doesn't have an Intel tablet with Android ICS available..). In some guides I also read that the Android versions have to be of the same type, which is the opposite of what I want.
Porting from Galaxy Tab 2 will ,almost definitely, won't work since it has an ARM processor. But I will try it to ensure that it will fail.
Building from source is also impossible, because several vendor components will be needed, which are proprietary, and as a result, unavailable.
I will let you know when I brick my Tab 3 with Tab 2 ROM.

Why are you so n00b ???
Trying to flash a Tab 2 ROM on a Tab 3 ?
Architectures are VERY different,
Processor are different,
GPU are different,
RAM modules (DDR3L vs DDR2) are different,
Sound Cards are different,
So how could you port this ?
Have you already wondered WHY development of Tab 3 10.1 is too SLOW ?
Good luck with your port.
Btw, if you want the most smoothest ROM released for Tab 3 10.1, flash this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2693396 :good:
It's an awesome rom with many features like Multi-Window

Possible to port cm11 from Tab S?

So it seemed like us tab pro owners with the exynos5 were forever destined to be stuck in touchwiz hell until i started browsing the galaxy tab s forum, where I saw there is a group well on their way to porting CM ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/cwm-recovery-6-0-5-0-galaxy-tab-s-8-4-t2824099 )
Since the tab S runs on the exynos 5420 like the tab PRO 10.1, I was wondering; if they are successful, if this could be then be ported to give us some CM love?
several threads on here discussing this subject. here is one of them.

Any thing is possible. I detailed my porting efforts in the thread plus I have my code up on github.. Which I need to update. Just needs someone to do it.

Find ports to SM-T321 mondrian3g

Hi everyone,
I got a Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 3G Version (mondrian3g) for a long time, first it's powerful processor ran some great applications and games, but now, the android system that been changed by Samsung Touchwiz slowed down the processor speed, and I cannot customize it. I saw T320 and T325 roms all over the forum, only rom for T321 I found is the mondrian3gX rom. Now i'm using that rom, but I still want more original android system with faster experience. Can anyone port or build Cyanogenmod or Lineage OS for Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 3G version SM-T321? If anyone can help me, a lot of thanks.
