Possible to port cm11 from Tab S? - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So it seemed like us tab pro owners with the exynos5 were forever destined to be stuck in touchwiz hell until i started browsing the galaxy tab s forum, where I saw there is a group well on their way to porting CM ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/cwm-recovery-6-0-5-0-galaxy-tab-s-8-4-t2824099 )
Since the tab S runs on the exynos 5420 like the tab PRO 10.1, I was wondering; if they are successful, if this could be then be ported to give us some CM love?

several threads on here discussing this subject. here is one of them.

Any thing is possible. I detailed my porting efforts in the thread plus I have my code up on github.. Which I need to update. Just needs someone to do it.

So come on guys make this one a go we can all be fit from those new features instead of going to spend another $400 on the same tablet on steroids just saying.:fingers-crossed:

count me in........I support u
As has been re iterated over and over in many posts in this forum, There is NO NOTE 8.4 PRO as of this writing.
it's likely the 8.4 tab pro you talking about.
I am so tired of people calling the new Tab a "Note". It is NOT a Note. It does NOT support S-Pen. It is just a Tab.
Yeah true... But.

Your right but the features from that tab can definitely be ported though to work with our note 8's like magazine ux...

Yeah, it seems that the tab is all peeps know about. Big difference... as for apps, it seems that there will be some apps ported as time goes. It is a bit early, but I think we'll see some by July. Though I am sure they will require 4.3 at least.
Good idea for a Port !!!
Btw, don't forget Note 8 does support ONLY Android 4.2.2 !!!
Note 2 support 4.3 at least and Great Devs from "Electronics Team" was able to make a 4.4.2 Port from Note 3 to Note 2 !!!
One more thing is about porting a Tab features to a Note !!! Basically, this should be a bit tricky, If you own a Tab 3 8.0 maybe you will be lucky.
And finally HARDWARE COMPATIBILITY, Tab 8.4 hardware are different from Note 8 ones. The screen resolution is much more bigger than the Note 8 one (2560x1600 vs 1280x720 I think) So making a port will be REALLY HARD.
But, Just wait and see !!! Since the Tab 8.4 is still NOT available here (Morocco).
One thing is certain: Magazine UX can be ported (like Samsung TouchWizz 5 and 6) to many devices.

No, Not the same thing. and though to you it's just a pen, there's a whole lot going behind the scenes, as well as UI/UX considerations bound to it.
A Port if any will have to be from a Note Family Device, and unless those (firmware updates etc) are released by Samsung chances are bleak.
I think you just like talking or are you trying to make something happen for the note 8 if not keep your dumb ass remarks to yourself

[Q] Cyanogenmod on Tab S

Hey, I did a lot of searching but couldn't find anything about this (surprisingly) so..:
Is somebody already working on a Cyanogenmod version for the Tab S / will there ever be one?
Yes it's being worked on. If the Dev cracks it you'll see a thread in Development.

I would find it unlikely due to the fact that is hasn't happened on the Note 2014, Note Pro, or Galaxy Tab Pro, or the Tab S, which all feature the same Exynos 5 based SoC, and all have far more custom rom and development work.

The sheer awesomeness of the prospect makes it metaphysically more likely. I call this Awesome Theory and I just made it up.

I'm very close to buying the Tab Pro 12.2, but haven't pulled the trigger due to the lack of ROMs/support available. There's just so many new Samsung tablets and apparently the Devs chose to buy the other ones. Wish sbreen94 would take an interest as he makes amazing ROMs.

Any word on official lollipop update?

Back in the fall, I think it was expected we'd get it in February. Any new word?
My guessing is somewhere this year. I own a tab s and reports from sammobile say that the Tab s gets it somewhere in the spring. Im not sure about the tab pros though
Any such predictions are pure speculation and are pointless. Make up what ever date you want. It will be no more or less accurate than any other random XDA member.
Today samsung show lollipop on galaxy tab s (8.4 and 10.1) running 5.0.2 . So we know know the modification of touchwiz for lollipop tablets its almost finished . I suppouse it was easier to bring lollipop for smartphones and also tjey are their most important product so its easy to see why tjey wanted to update them before tablets.

I can only hope the pro models are included, considering their specs and general "newness".

Personally I can't see any Lollipop 5.0 version coming to the Tab Pro soon, Samsung have been rolling out T320XXU1BNI1 for 6 months now which is 4.4.2 update.
As this is still being rolled out then this will delay any 5.0 version coming to the Tab Pro, why spend time and resources rolling out an update to 4.4.2 if you intended to roll out 5.0.
Be nice if 5.0 did come to the Tab Pro but if it is, don't think its going to be very soon if at all.
Samsung Live Updates
they are. The tablets will receive lollipop are the 3 tab pro , the 3 tab s and the note 10.1 (2014) . Of course they have priorities but we can always wait for a port to use in the midtime

I probably read similar articles as you but I think that they tended to say Note Pro, Tab S and Galaxy Note 2014, as getting it but any other Tabs are unlikely, whatever does happen is out of our control anyway all we can do is wait and see what Samsung do.
if we dont get official we can hope someone port those lollipop roms to tabs pro (like it was done to give touchwiz kitkat to the s3 or lollipop to the s4 using a note 3 rom)
spoke with Samsung rep..
I spoke with a Samsung tech 2 weeks ago and she told me the Tab S will be getting the upgrade in the spring an tab pro was not on the update list yet...but probably would get it..

[Q] Roms for 12.2

This is my first time posting. I promise I've searched for this answer, but to no avail. I've seen how upset members get when a noob posts a question that's been answered a million times and how they might feel the poster did not look enough before asking the question. So I hope that I am not too out of line. I love this forum and I am on it probably 3 times a day.
Anyway, I have a 12.2 Tab Pro. I have been looking for roms. I have been using CM 12.1. I like it. I am curious to know if I can use Roms that are designed for the Tab Pro 10.1 or 8.4?
Thanks guys!
I'm fairly new myself and I have a 12.2. I don't think we can use roms for the 10.1 or 8.4 however I believe that some of the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 roms can be used with a few limitations. Perhaps someone can clarify that for us. I have a couple of the Note roms downloaded but have not tried an install yet. There's not much to choose from for the Tab Pro 12.2. There's a little more for the Note. OmniRom and CivZ have been mentioned.

Thanks for any help!

I'm going to check out the Note Pro roms. I've not been able to find too much on the Pro Tab 12.2 either. When I bought it I thought that there might be a lot of development for it... but I suppose not. Maybe most people prefer the 10.1? Dunno.
Thanks again for the response.
