Possible to Flash G710EM onto G710TM? - LG G7 ThinQ Questions & Answers

Hello!
I'm hearing that LG G7 T-Mobile version is apparently unrootable. Is this true?
If so, is there any way I can use LG update software (like LGUP or that other one) on PC to flash the global version?
I came across a YouTube video of a guy doing just that. Has anyone done this before? Was it successful? Failure?
I would really appreciate some help on this. I don't want to brick my phone by doing something idiotic simply cz I saw someone doing it on YouTube.
Thank you.

Almost having the same issue. I just want to flash any ROM instead of T-Mobile's. The CPU's architecture apparently is the same as every other variation, so there's hope.
I just wanted to add my voice here, hoping for a capable hand's help.

[Q] D850 hardware ID changed to D855

Okay, guys, I screwed up.
I thoughtlessly downloaded this Sphynx mod for the LG G3 and didn't bother to ask Gee, is it for here, or Eurpean phones? Well, it's for European phones. My phone can get data, and it can get texts, but it can't make calls. I've gone though all of the "Restore to Stock" guides, but LG PC Suite tells me that I have the correct OS installed, and LGFlashTool tells me I have the wrong DLL/TOT when I try to flash it with the AT&T D850. Can someone help me fix this? I'll give you all my Dogecoins.
Okay, I figured it out, for anyone who is stupid like me and happens to find this post-
You have to edit the build.pro file to the correct hardware ID
Seriously
It's that easy.
Sigh....I'm a genius.
No, more like a moron.
Thanks for whoever looked at this and didn't make fun of me!

2 basic questions from a beginner

Hey guys,
I have too basic questions which I'm sure you can answer me with ease. I'm kinda new to all this stuff so please don't flame me to hell. I always use XDA search and Google before asking but I just don't find clear answers to that.
So first things first.
I have a D855 16gb with t-mobile branding (germany) on firmware V10c. This seems to be the latest one for my branding. I stumped and bumped my phone recently with great success, thanks to good instructions from all you guys and devs.
Now the questions I just can't find clear answers to are the following:
Can I flash other firmwares like V10l for example, even tho my phone is branded (but bumped)?
The latest firmware for my IMEI according to LG is V10c...
The second thing I can't figure out is:
Do I need to flash a specific firmware (compatible to the custom rom) before I flash a custom Rom?
Yes I have read the instruction of many roms and almost the full thread of AndroidNow, but there are a couple of contradictory posts so I want to be very sure on that.
Maybe someone can help a beginner on those two things. I'm really trying to figure most things out on my own.
Thanks guys.

There is a guide on how to properly install an OTA update (read: .KDZ and .TOT files) onto your phone. You can read the guide here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/psa-stop-taking-ota-updates-update-t2909412
>Do I need to flash a specific firmware (compatible to the custom rom) before I flash a custom Rom?
As far as I know the kernel is the only important thing you have to really keep an eye out from. It is very important to flash the correct kernel for your phone model. Other things like whether it is an 16GB or 32GB model, provider etc.. is not clear to me if that is important too.
I think it's best to just follow the threads here on XDA and wait until there are going to be releases of major ROMs and more information about these subjects.

In short, no and no. If the latest firmware for your branding is 10c, do not flash any updates for another model number.

That Guide will show you how to take the kdz or tot file, when an official one for your model number is available, and safely flash it without losing TWRP. As the title of that guide warns, never take an OTA update while Bump'd and never flash a stock kdz or tot file. You must follow that guide exactly to create a safe zip file to flash.
As for your second question, in the original Bump thread it states that this is not like Loki and that you do not need to be on any specific firmware to flash a custom rom as the kernel will come pre-Bump'd and require nothing from the end user.
Hope that answers your questions, feel free to ask more here anytime. And thank you so much for putting this in the proper thread and having legitimate questions that are well justified. I know there is a lot of talk about the Bump method, mostly trolls, but just know that this phone is far more "unlocked" than the majority of others.
Thanks to both of you.
I already blocked OTA`s properly. Its just very confusing because of the "suffix" of the firmware like "A6MD". I wasnt sure if that has to match up, since its unlocked.
greez
I wouldn't recommend you to manually download firmware by yourself especially if you are begginner as you said you are. You could brick your phone if one tiny thing is done wrong. But you can try updating it using LG PC Suite. I got my International model 2 months ago and it was on basic firmware version v10a. Trying to update firmware with the phone itself just showed me message that latest firmware is installed. After that I installed LG PC Suite from LG's website if I remember correctly and installed it. I just plugged my phone to pc and ran LG PC Suite and then it said that I can update my firmware version to v10l.
So I recommend you to try with LG PC Suite first, I think its your safest bet to get correct latest firmware for your G3 variant.

But this method seems pretty so simular to generic OTA and would probably screw up my custom recovery and/or root access? Or am I getting something wrong here?

Can't find my specific KDZ file? Vodafone (VDF) UK

Hi,
I am pretty much a complete novice with this rooting and unrooting business but I decided to do a spot of research to try and gain a certain level of understanding before jumping on XDA.
I have recently brought a LG G4 and updated it to 6.0 Marshmallow through the LG Bridge and seems to be working fine.
However after doing some digging around I would like to unroot the phone install Xposed to have the capability to install some decent modules.
From what I understand though if anything goes wrong you would require the correct KDZ file to revert the phone back to stock, this is wherein my problem lies as I cant find the correct file.
I have looked at some of the links provided within certain KDZ tutorials on xda but without any success. I believe I can use another file in times of need but I would like the correct carrier KDZ encase of a warranty claim.
Does anyone have an idea or maybe can suggest other sites?
The strange thing is though after watching a video tutorial on how to unroot the guy goes to ([devtester.ro/projects/lg-firmwares/) and searches for his required file but when on the website I can clearly see the file I need is there but I don't seem to be able to find it when I search. I will say though that the video is old (last summer) but does anyone know if the files are deleted and added regularly on there?
Phone - LG-H815
KDZ Required - VDF (UK)
Any help would be much appreciated

What's the chance that I can root my Verizon LG g7

Help I need to root my new phone
It seems that no one is working on a root for verizon or t-mobile g7.so your answer is no and maybe never since Runingnak3d quit on working on the root for lg phones.
If you can cross flash to ULM, you can try to see if the root method for the ULM model works. I don't think it's been posted here on XDA, but it's been posted, along with the necessary files, in the Telegram group. I don't know if anyone has tried it with the VM model, though, but from looking at the instructions it seems plausible it might work. Or it might brick. Who knows until someone tries.

LG G710EM rollback to Android 8 LGUP error 0x81000304

Hi everyone, I hope this is in the right place and wonder if anyone knows how to solve this.
I've been following a video on youtube to attempt to downgrade from Android 10 to Android 8 on an LG G7 (G710EM). I've got the phone in download mode, the firmware downloaded and have the LGUP_Common.dll file from the one used in the youtube video. However when I go to flash the firmware it gets to 4% and then comes up with error code 0x81000304 and then something like failed to load gpt from device.
I've tried different common dlls but none of them seem to make a difference. Not sure what else to do. The phone is not rooted nor have I unlocked the bootloader or anything like that.
Any ideas anyone has on how to get past this error in LGUP would be greatly appreciated, or if anyone knows any other way to flash without LGUP.
Thanks in advance.
Although you posted on the Q7 forums ill tell you this, LG Phones are a hell to downgrade. I did my Q7 a few years back. I tried probably 10 different DLLs and i found some modified software that did not even have english language. Just out of morbid curiosity ill try to find the software but my advice is that just when you think you did everything you could, keep searching for another way.
