Hi could someone work on the fold 4 to develop dynamic island like the iPhone 14pro?
Something like this,
Fan copied Dynamic Island on Galaxy S22 Ultra, check here!
The Galaxy S22 Ultra is the latest flagship (non-foldable) smartphone offered by Samsung. The device comes with powerful hardware specifications and impressive software for user experience advancements. Meanwhile, a fan just copied iPhone 14 Pro’s Dynamic Island feature on the Galaxy S22 Ultra...

Why? Dynamic Island is a great and clever solution for the problem of having a large screen cut out. The Fold 4 (and many other punch hole style devices) doesn't have that issue and Android already has a robust notification/quick access features.

WHY????? lol. On iPhone its a neccessity but why make the small camera cut out appear 3 times the size on an android phone?
No need for a "solution" to a problem that doesn't exist. ;-)
Lol Apple makes a huge marketing push advertising its dynamic island a basic notification feature Samsung has had for over 10 yrs!!
Is that all they got??

Absolutely. I don't think he's suggesting having a "larger" cutout. I think he wants the notifications to pop up and out from the camera. I agree. I've never liked Apple software, but what they did was pretty nifty.

Grrr!!! How dare you ask for something that some people here don't like! Boo, choices!! Get an Apple, you iSheep! Because if you like one feature of an iPhone, and people here don't like it, you must hate Android! And probably puppies! I bet you hate puppies!

Hum I think that everyone here thinks that's a stupid idea because We just have a tiny cut-out and the notification system on SAMSUNG already works a lot like Dynamic Island.
So I'm not sure what he is looking for.

Correct. I thought it was much more innovative that Samsung did the under the screen camera in the Z Fold and essentially eliminated the camera hole/cut out. In addition, Samsung has had a very robust notification bar strategy for many years.
I believe previously people were wanting Apple to eliminate the cut out and now they think it's cool.
Shows you the power of marketing and the sheep are following. There's a reason you see the dynamic island commercial 7x24!

I understood but our Fold doesn't have a cut-out so there is no point.
But hey whatever.
You can type Dynamic Island on the Play Store you will find a lot of app doing the same thing.
The favorite is named DynamicSpot
Use this if you want it this actually works like the iphone one

I've been using this for a day. So far it is pretty cool but because it's in beta, there are a few bugs. The dev already mentioned that there is a long roadmap with more features and bug fixes coming soon.
That is until they get sued

Granted I haven't had my hand on the new Samsung Galaxy SII but looking at (I hate to say engadget review on the hardware) I think this would be an ultimate flagship design for wp7 (I know the processor hasn't been approved) but man that device looks nice and I have been very happy with my focus for a while now I am wanting this bad boy (am I bad I have had an HTC for the last 6yrs).
Mental diarrhea sprayed onto an XDA post. Nice work!
dreaming is not diarrhea lol
The Os performs great with the current standards if they are going to make a tiered version (which they will if Nokia intends on making a low cost wp7) why not make a high dollar one?
Yes its android its gud

Yeah, the specs are nice...but it's ugly, as was the Galaxy S
Why can't the do a design like the Galaxy S had in the Gorgio Armani edition? Or something like the SE X10?
The Omnia7 is the only Samsung high-end phone that looks good (could be better but at least it has edges and isn't rounded everywhere).

I think he means in normal operations the lag is there. Which it is, let's be real. Android lags, till google changes their h/w graphics acceleration, that won't be changing
That said, I was thinking that wp7 may need a few flagship dual cores just to make itself viable for users. Many will say look at android - dual core. Look at apple iphone - dual core [soon] and wp7 no...
I think by January there needs to be dual core optimized code and ASAP. As far as the G II, the screen looks amazing. Samoled has spoiled me in the focus and the (god awful) dvp. So I may consider that as an option especially if there are devs for samsung platform.

What I was saying/hinting in order to make a statement (which don't get me wrong everyone including my girl that I have let play with my wp7 want one and thats coming from iphone/android). But at the gym last night there was a guy with a attrix with a wp7 skin and I slapped him (silly foul for fun) because he was false claiming lol (forgive me its Friday). But really they need a wow factor phone because basically alot of people just buy for specs I hate to say (like people @ the gym I workout at) all they talk about is my phone has a 5-8mp camera and a dual processor blah blah, and I just said my phone works and quite well.

ahhhhh, ok i see it! I wonder if that is a beta hardware, or what version software its running. oddly, I haven't used a ota update or stock rom since the 1.x days. lag is something I just haven't experienced since then... and it puzzles me when I see so many commnets about it really.,
Lag has been the signature of Samsung Galaxy S. It remains to be seen that if S2 can improve on that. The reasons are two folds:
1. The Android OS's own problem (lack of hardware accel and poor garbage collection)
2. Samsung's insistence of using its antiquated RFS file system which is significantly worse than the common ext2 or 4 file system.
And there is really on dual-core support in Android OS in the immediate future. The Dalvik VM used in Android is single core only. Currently only the tablet OS, Honeycomb, supports dual-core.
In the end, what a waste of that beautiful hardware!
Nice work。。。。
Would love this with WP7.
You guys should read the review. No lag, only sign of it is when doing a expose with fully loaded home screens. Even then it was barely noticeable.

we did hence the discussion about the LAG. Look I like the specs myself because they would make any developer salivate and want to at least test it for a spell - myself included. But even still, lag is lag and it's there.
We can call out all of wp inconsistencies till the cow comes home but do it to android its a fight. It's a pretty rational discussion about the SII and there have been no flames. Us, just like you, have watched the video and read the reviews. Let's not assume no one hasn't

So with all of this I have a bad taste for Samsung. Not the Note 7 because it is a real marvel of a phone, but the company that kind of down played this recall and now is fixing things in the 11th hour. No matter the %, 92 isn't 37 and I hate when companies go half way on ownership.
To that end I pre-ordered an Iphone 7 plus 256GB in jet black. For the meantime while my Note sat in a drawer, I wound up using a spare new Iphone 6 that my helpdesk guy had laying around. I made things my own by adding cards to apple pay, using a hack to get icons to move down and to the right, using the IOS 10 widget panel, GMAIL, Google cal, Google Play music, news stand etc. Here is why I need help...
Iphone Cons-
No Customization and hacks to do simple things (but then, do I actually care about that anymore)
Screen is not as nice as the Note 7 (But its damn good and I notice no resolution difference. In some ways the screen is more accurate on the 7 plus based on me seeing it on the 6s plus)
The phone is huge for a 5.5" No denying that
Apple pay is NOT Samsung Pay
No Wireless Charge (whatever because I can get a dock but its just so easy)
Back button still ****ing annoys me
Notifications are better in IOS 10 than ever but still less than that of Android
EVERYONE HAS IT
Dated physical design
No QC
Makes me feel like a woman hipster with a giant manbun
Iphone Pros-
Smooth as **** (and will be in 6 months while my note surely wont be)
Touch ID is still better than the fingerprint on the note or the iris on the note
Gonna last as long on a charge even with a 2900mah battery
Multi-task is finally better and while not google, I ask you to tell me why I would care if the outcome is identical when navigating between apps
Design while old feels really smooth, premium and aluminum is less fragile for sure
IOS10 is the first IOS I don't really mind
Google services make IOS great and in 10 you can hide factory apps
Probably a slightly better camera now
A10 Fusion is fast as hell and on their software will more than likely lap the Note even from day 1 with real life use. Definitely in 6 months though
Cases are generally better and more premium
Swiftkey makes IOS also usable
Touch ID is so fast and never misses my finger. ID integration in each app
Apps are cleaner, more sophisticated looking and have features my android apps don't
God I am getting old, but everything just works and while tinkering is fun, I find myself not missing it in IOS anymore
Raise to wake takes care of the AOD need for me
Bluetooth audio and BT battery management are exponentially better than the note
So here is the truth. I feel awful leaving android, but I have now used the iphone even the smaller older one and its still fast and smooth and enjoyable. So I know you are all heated about the topic, all generally Andy fans but I ask as a fellow techy who is getting old with a couple of kids, what the **** do I choose.
P.S. Please don't bring up S pen because its not a factor for me.
I have a replacement Note 7 and it's like butter.
No lag and such a difference. Then you can go further, a Note 7 without lag, smaller bezels than the iPhone 7 Plus my headphone jack (Sorry, couldn't resist) and the ability to cutomise until my heart is content.
Enjoy your iPhone it's a fantastic device, but it's certainly no (replacement) Note 7
You have to make the decision that works best for you in the long term. would I personally go to an iPhone? Nah, in my opinion they're phones for kids/teens and the only way to make them semi usable is to add a crap-ton of Google stuff to them, or you can just get the actual google operating system wrapped in WAYYYY better looking hardware, i don't care what anyone says, the space above and below the iPhone screen is just unacceptable. I write apps for both IOS and Android and they are "smooth" because they are so limited and clocked down that they run great, but that slows trust me. Android phones tend to be power houses and can catch here and there but I've personally never experienced the lag people speak of on Touchwiz, not even when i rooted my phones back in the day, thing is people want to add everything and tweak everything to the phone then don't understand why it hits a snag every once in a while. But again, my explosive Note 7 runs perfect, no lag or anything, its buttery smooth, and all of my Samsung phones have been even when power using them.
So at this point it comes down to preference, OS wise and aesthetically. There's no question iPhone has more mainstream appeal making acquiring accessories and stuff a lot easier, But there are no shortage of Android accessories available either, and Android is meant to customize and make your own, where as IOS is set to strict guidelines to have it always look how Apple wants it to look. For everything I've listed here and more Android is just the choice for me, preferably Samsung because they've found that perfect phone formula that seems to be tailored to me personally and professionally, but that isn't everyone's taste, fact is, there really isn't anything that you get in an iPhone that you don't already get on Android, but there's a lot on Android you cant get with iPhone.
Good luck!

What Samsung did was extraordinary and cost them billions of dollars both in cash and lost market capitalization. Based on how few phones have overheated they could have played kick-the-can and stalled this for months or been forced involuntarily in to addressing the issue. Instead they announced within a week of identifying the problem internally that they were recalling 2.5M Note7s. Clearly some here aren't in business because to think any multi-billion dollar multinational conglomerate could recall 2.5M of anything faster or better than Samsung did is a pipe dream. They obviously had their sh!t together because the recall program they were already in the process of in the U.S. was blessed within days by the CPSC.
I've been buying Samsung products for years (mostly Note phones and tablets) and this is the first serious problem I've encountered. The Note7 was the best Samsung phone I've owned before this debacle and nothing's changed after.
Audi had a huge unintentional acceleration problem, Honda is tied directly to the Takata airbag issue, GM was involved in an ignition switch problem cover-up, and VW's getting their ass kicked for screwing with emission testing. The first three are performing extremely well and VW will be fine when the dust settles. Samsung will be fine too.
Agreed, My entire house is outfitted in Samsung, I'm a definite Samsung "Fan-Boy" and because they have never let me down and always deliver the best most innovative products. My washer, dryer, TVs, Tablets, Soundbars, BT speakers, Watches, Phones, Netbooks, charging docks etc. all Samsung - and that goes for all of my Wife's products and the rest of my family (Brother, Sister, Brother in law, Mom etc.) I sold them on their first Samsung device years and they haven't looked back. I didn't fret once over this recall, I knew it was being blown out of proportion and that Samsung was all over it the best they could be and I was going to be taken care of.
If anything my Brand loyalty has been enhanced because of this, but that doesn't mean i expect Samsung to be perfect always or say they wont ever drop the ball, But I will cross that bridge when I get there, until then Samsung is my brand, and the Note 7 is a GREAT phone and has met and far exceeded my expectations both on aesthetics and performance.
Samsung came through for us on this recall regardless of how people want to perceive their approach, so to those people: please explain how they could have done it better?

I agree that the recall has been handled well, unprecedented to get so many replacements produced and shipped so quickly (I have a replacement already).
However, the CPSC had this to say to BBC News:
Mr Kaye said Samsung should not have tried to do the recall by itself, saying: "Anybody who thinks that a company going out on its own is going to provide the best recall for that company, and more importantly for the consumer, needs to have more than their phone checked,"

- Says the guy who makes money and gets to push his power by issuing recalls. No different than a mechanic saying "Anyone who rotates their own tires is looking to die!"
And sure, of course they did whats best for Samsung, They have to stay is business, both by cleaning up their mess as quick as possible and to their consumers liking (because we are the reason they have a business) no company is stupid enough not to try and please the consumer with their decision.
I'm just confused on the apparent blessing of the recall followed by that statement yesterday.
I knew you all would focus here. It's the problem with forums. I'm asking for honest opinions on the two devices not about the recall. It was a catalyst and now here I am at an impasse. It wouldn't even be a thought had the recall not happened but here we are.

What's different today from the year's long discussion of Android vs. iOS? The iP7+ is as big as a house, has a 1080P IPS panel, has a 2,900mAh battery, no wireless charging, no fast charging, no audio jack, and an eco-system locked down harder than Fort Knox which offers no flexibility and customization. I didn't read your "pros" summary but I'm assuming they're what's already known. What's left to say?

I have to disagree... Before I have my Note 7, I was using my 2011 Note 1 (ran on Samsung Jelly bean stock rom)... No lag has been felt until recently when the apps I am using often are getting more and more RAM demanding...
Samsung vs iPhone should not be seen as Android vs iOS, but then when coming to which to choose, it depends on which best suits your needs (I don't view those who chose iOS over Android are any inferior). Personally I no longer find Android exciting like it used to be, but between Android devices and iPhone, I am still an Android guy. The reason for this is simple: Android has large variety of devices which I can choose from... And this time I chose Note 7 (not because I am loyal to Samsung) as it offers various exciting functions (and ya, I like the S-Pen)... As for iPhone 7 or 7+, I found the design for these device were unappealing...

Now that is a good reply. Thank you for being just up front.
It looks to me like you only want 'on the fence' replies that give you no swing towards either device. I gave you real world use in that it is very smooth on the 2nd release which I presumed would have made a huge difference to your decision considering you mentioned that all was good until the recall announcement.
People have given you material and real world examples of the recall (In my case 10 days!) but you still seem bent on assuming the recall is being handled poorly.
I've read where apple has ignored people being hurt and even killed by the iPhone since 2009. Little girl had glass on her eye from it exploding, a man had third degree burns when biking he fell on it. Others died. Look it up. They said not our fault. Samsung cares more about customers. Imo so im sticking with Sammy. I hope you all find happiness with your devices, stay safe.

Seems like we've all given the best answers we can to your question and reasons why we feel this way, ultimately the decision is yours based on what YOU like and why and how it fits into your life. The recall came up because its why you came into this dilemma in the first place.
We can tell you all day which couch your ass likes better, but in the end you're the only person who can feel the nerve endings in your ass lol, so you have make that decision based off what you like. Its like asking if I like Ham or Roast Beef more. The differences of IOS and Android are very prominent and very much talked about and public, at this point it seems you just want someone to push you in one direction or the other or give you the "go-ahead" but judging from your first post and last post, it seems like you've already chosen the iPhone and no one is gonna stop you, I choose Android wrapped in the Note 7, but that doesn't mean that's the standard everyone should live by.
That's a nice assalogy.

How were the speakers compared to the S8?

Need for some ugly cover? The high frame rate is cool like it sound? I've so much hype for this phone. I'm not a big smartphone gamer but those stats are fantastic. Is like have the master race phone.

One member of staff had a thin, black case on it and honestly it felt very useless  I like the phone much better without any case, especially when there is no back glass to break.
It is super cool, smooth and responsive. I was going crazy when i saw it haha! It is seriously very cool. Although, most of the third party apps were locked to 60hz I could see that. Only the system apps and the dolby atmos app (I think) were in full 120hz.

No clue about that as some features on the demo phones were disabled. I think this is part or Oreo? So possibly with the Oreo update in Q1 2018. Again, not sure about that.

afk area lol I love razers humor.
How was the screen color and brightness wise?
How were the speakers compared to the S8?
In hand feel?
Did it feel premium? Heavy?
Are you going to get one?
How was the software from what you got to see?
Overall impressions?
Thanks appreciate you taking the time to tell us

Haha, I know right.
Screen colours were really good, although still not on OLED levels (still great lcd panel though). Brightness is the only thing that disappointed me about the screen, when I set the Razer phone to full brightness, it was the same brightness as when you set the S8+ to 30-40% brightness
Speakers are just nuts. No phone has speakers like that. Even though I could not hear it properly because there was a lot of people, screaming and music around, I could feel how the whole phone was vibrating only from the speakers. It is absolutely nuts, very loud, highs were very noticeable in the dolby atmos demo app and the bass is very good for phone speakers as well. They killed it in this regard lol.
I'm not a fan of the square-ish designs but it I liked this one, it feels very premium indeed. I have medium sized hands, it felt kinda big.
I really do want to get one, but I'm not sure yet. Price is very competitive, but I'm just so used to all the Samsung services (Samsung Pay, Health, Cloud, etc.) + I have a Gear S3 so I would lose a ton of features lol.
Software was smooth, imagine playing with the Pixel 2 but the screen is 120Hz (it's absolutely crazy smooth, I can't even believe it). I tried to lag it as much as I could but I just couldn't, there was not a single lag/stutter.
It's a great phone for sure and I was really hyped when I had it in my hands, but I'm not sure how I feel about the screen brightness and lack of any water-resistance rating. The camera performance was also very average - low light was bad, focusing was alright, but nowhere near the S8 focusing speed and details/closeups came up really good.

Since there was only default apps and games, there were no notifications so I can't tell. I would say it doesn't have one, unless it's hidden in the speaker mesh
Does it have a dual sim slot?

Any idea if there is the ability to re map the navigation buttons?
Did they say when it would actually be able to be pre-ordered in the United States?
GoPro video vs other non-120Hz video made any difference to view?
In the amount of time that you were in possession of the phone how was the battery life?

Same. I heard months ago, like in this article from Android Authority that AptX HD (as well as Hi-Res Bluetooth codecs like LDAC) come enabled with Android O via a Bluetooth codec menu.

How was the camera? I know they said they'd send some camera updates like 120Hz video capture, slow-motion capture, and portrait mode via OTA updates in the coming months as TechRadar stated.
However, I'd like to know about the camera quality performance?
I've seen some samples, but I'd like to know your first-hand experience.
I'm not a fan boy of any particular brand. Just a Tech geek, I've been using apple for years as it makes my life easier with cloud services and the transition from app to apps within all apple devices. I've had many android devices, I've always have liked android. Frankly though I'm bored with apple and tired of the Norm. So I'm making a full transition to Samsung with the Fold 3 and Watch 4 Classic. I am still sticking with the ipad pro but may switch to tab s7+ soon.
Has anyone else made the switch? If so how are you transitioning?

I work in digital experience and have made that switch over and again. You have to work in the muscle memory over a frustrating amount of time. Remember early on to log into everything, set gesture navigation, learn to love swiping down, and move app icons and layouts to literally whatever works.
In time and after some running for your iPhone moments, you'll push through and realize that the reason it all flows properly for you now is because you had the freedom to personalize the interface as needed. That's android for ya.
No, but I just bought my first Apple product since the 5S. I got the iPad Pro. Android was getting a little stale and wanted to see what Apple could offer.

I have been running mac os on my macbook pro and have airpods, ipad and a appletv too. I miss the ecosystem of apple a little bit since i switched my main device to the z fold 3 but gosh the screen makes it all up man. For now im very happy running the fold. Yes the switch is s*** but after i set up everything its all normal and nice to have sth else after 4 years of ios. Goodluck with your new phone and enjoy it! You can always go back

I'm not a fanboy of any particular brand... I had the first android phone g1 when it came and loved it. and several android phones throughout the years For me apple made my life easier as everything talks to each other and works well together. But after setting everything up on the fold 3 I realized there isn't much difference and that running g'apps does the same just as good. The only thing I don't like about the fold 3 is battery life... Now im on the fence on buying the flip 3 thome brown addition

And yeah the flip i dont know man. I feel like i than rather should stay at apple. With the fold im really feeling something new.
Made the switch from Iphone 12 Max Pro to the Fold 3 and Watch 4. Super happy. My wife isn't happy she doesn't have the blue bubbles anymore lol...

I am contemplating doing the same, after switching to IOS with iPhone 8. Concerned that the fold3 will not be rootable.
i shifted to all apple last year and im so in love with my iphone 12 pro max, i love the eco system
but i still want to buy Samsung as i love the extra customization and its like tab and phone
my main concerns
are there any cases from rhinoshield or any well known brands? my phone falls to much from my hands
my last s20 ultra have so much focus issues that never wanted to go back to samsung, maybe i got a defective unit 12 pro max cam is awesome
the inside screen quality, i watched a durability test and the nails still damage the inner screen
Well that's why i thought. How about you guys
If we are just talking phone performance, features, etc then facts. The Apple crowd will never see the light though so if we are talking sales it ain't happening.

Totes agree. But we'll never know, right?
I hope they don't make this phone too thin, I rather enjoy the thickness of the iphone 12 pro max, for me it feels good in the hand.
The trend is your friend unless you've been a Google fan. We shall see soon enough. Of late Google has been more interested in mainstream, low cost, middle of the road phones.

That because Google Weak in marketing their products and they do not make advertisements such as Apple and Samsung add to that Google phones are not available in a number of countries such as Apple and Samsung all over the world
I hope so.. I'll never buy a iphone or support the company. They make great hardware and a great soc but iOS is hideous in my opinion. Plus there is nothing so far to even temp me to switch to an iphone. I hate how android phones lock their bootloader's let alone how apple runs there eco system . I think everyone has the right to pick what they want and there should always be choices.

I used for both end of the day i always fo back to pixel
The sales wont match the iphone nor will the tensor be able to keep up with apples chip but ill still take the pixel all day
Applesauce can leave a bad taste! Pixel ftw!
I've been a Pixel/Nexus user every since I unlocked my Samsung Galaxy Nexus. That was also the last phone I've bought retail from big red. I've just been playing musical SIM cards ever since. Pixel ftw
I'm looking forward to hearing what's new for Android 12 related to privacy protection and tracking. Apple seems to be soundly maintaining the upper hand up to this point.

Kinda pointless thread but OK.. never Ginn be a same hit compared to iPhones .. Pixel is a small niche in the grand scheme of things. I'm buying one, though. Had Pixel 1, 2, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL and the 5 at this point as well as iPhone X, 11 Pro .. Pixel 4XL / 5 still the best cameras in my eyes.

Agreed. Two completely different phones and 2 completely different approaches to software IMO.
I don't care about its competition as long as it gets 130 or above camera rating (great night mode score at least 60) on DXOMARK and above 100 battery endurance rating on GSMArena.
Apple people don't think about function, all they want is a piece of jewelry with the proper logo on it.
What I really want it to excel in is Video recording performance and battery life.
