Successfully updated to F.15 (without loosing data or root). Only thing that's not working properly is fingerprint reader; gets it right around 1/10 tries... obviously already tried deleting prints and re-enrolling. Any suggestions?

Since encryption is in the news right now with iPhones perhaps it's time we Android users looked into it more. I'm interested to hear other people's experiences. Did it work at all? Did it affect performance? Were you able to do upgrades after?

Tested encryption and can verify it works 100%. But, there is a catch. It's always going to be a one-way street. Typically, when you encrypt a regular Android phone, the only way to decrypt it is to do a factory reset.
The only way to go back to an unencrypted state with our Fire Phones would be to format data (not wipe data) in Safestrap.
Unfortunately, this means you lose EVERYTHING. So you will definitely want to store any TWRP backups you have on your computer first.
Fortunately though, you will end up with a clean CM11 install after formatting data. Then all you have to do is go back and restore whatever TWRP backups you made before encrypting in the first place.

it's working on slimkit, suppose working on CM11, but yes, you have to do factory reset for decryption.
When I encrypted, the encryption itself was fine, but Safestrap can't access /media that I know of. I put .zips in /cache and it worked like a charm. You'll need root to do that, though.
--EDIT--
If you also want to perform a NAND dump while encrypted, Onandroid seems to do a fantastic job at it.
So I backed up stock OxygenOS with TWRP, copied that backup to my PC, flashed the CM13 nightly to test it, wiped the device, restored original backup from TWRP.
Boots up, asks me for my PIN, this works and so it continues to boot Android.
At the lock screen it says 'Wrong PIN' when it's correct and it's the only PIN I've ever used on the device.
Does anyone have any suggestions that may fix this?
Thanks.
I had the same problem with unlock pattern, idk how to solve it without formatting internal memory.
but you can erase internal memory (factory reset) and your phone will reboot and be clean (wiped everyting including pin)

Yep it sucks, I'm trying to avoid that
This is a known issue with twrp. You should be disabling security (pin/fingerprint) before making a back up. There is a thread on here on how to get around it.

Any link to the thread please?
Edit: Found it, deleting the password files has worked https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/fix-wrong-pin-pattern-when-restoring-twrp-nandroid-backup.452384/

here as well.
Yes already answered many times.
This worked for me as well
After restoring a twrp data backup, I cannot add new fingerprints in settings. It just repeatedly says "fingerprint setup was canceled" on the menu where you actually press your finger down repeatedly. I can click try again but it still says canceled. I RUU'd and the fingerprint setup does work in the first-run setup wizard. I restored a new backup from the faulty phone on the new phone and again cannot add the fingerprints.
Using 3.0.2-7-test3 version of twrp. backup of my 2.28.617.8 data and boot on a phone sent from RMA due to the last one not having GPS functionality. I have both phones still (about to send the "old" one back to RMA). Backup has patched boot and root for magisk. Adding fingerprints works on the rooted phone I'm backing up. I also tried deleting the 3 locksettings.* files from data/system to no avail. The new phone is perfectly functional, so far as I can tell, except I can't add fingerprints. The home button works for waking up screen when no security is enabled as well as long pressing for google now.
Any ideas what could be bugging out the add fingerprints dialog?
Did you ever find a solution as I am having exactly the same issue...

Hello,
After update to Pie, wifi stop working, toggle as soon as on, immediately switched back to off.
Also, trying activate fingerprint plus pin security, pin recorded successfully, fingerprint stop on last step, then error message.
Any advice?
Thank you.

How did you update... by OTA? Have you tried flashing (via ADB) a full OTA image from Recovery mode? This will not cause you to lose data. Is your bootloader unlocked? If so, just fastboot flash a full factory image.

My bootloader was unlocked and unlocked critical.
I flashed full Android 9.0 Pie image with -w.

So you wiped your data then? Ok, well just repeat that again, or if you have the stock recovery do a FDR from there. Those are two big issues you need to get rid of.

Well I guess you know very well what is next then. Get to it.
Recently, phone updated itself automatically to 11.0.3 version from 11.0.1. Now it is stuck at lock screen and none of the gestures or buttons working in lock screen(only long pressing power button restarts phone). Phone is china version. I can access to the fastboot and recovery. Can I fix it without installing new rom on it?
Deleting the lockscreen password seems to fix it for me, had this happen a few times. You can do it through twrp, delete locksetting* or gesture* from /data/system.
If you can't mount data, then formatting data is the only way, wiping isn't the same.

You can try flashing back to your previous ROM but I think your only options are going through TWRP to save your data or formatting data.
Maybe someone else can chime in
