My phone keeps asking me to reselect my home app. The only home apps installed are Nova 7 and the stock app. I can live with this, but it's a nuisance. Suggestions?
I have the same issue after using the launcher without any issues for two years. The annoyance started with one of the latest nova updates.
I have to tell NovalLauncher 7 to be my default launcher over 10 times a day. All the usual re-install, clear cache, "make it the default through the settings menu" things don't fix it.
Look at this post!
Nova Launcher Loses Default Status On Reboot
The thread title says it all. This is driving me absolutely insane. On reboot, probably about 70% to 80% of the time, OnePlus launcher gets magically put on default status over Nova on reboot. The same problem would occasionally happen on my 8...

I am already starting to get full homescreen redraws more and more often all of a sudden when going back to the homescreen from an app. This is reminiscent of the same issue on all previous Android OSs and I loathe it. This also was known to happen often on LauncherPro and ADW, although I am on the stock 4.0 launcher here.
Yes, on the Nexus it recovers more quickly, but it still slows you down for a couple of seconds and looks stupid doing it.
Is anyone else who has widgets on most screens starting to experience complete redraws and have to wait a few seconds for it to recover back up to speed?? I already tried the Terminal command to save the homescreen in memory but it is still happening the same.. It's starting to happen more and more frequently.
EDIT: Ok now it's literally refreshing/redrawing the homescreen icons and widgets every single time I go into any app and hit back or home. Every time. I thought I was done with this crap on this new OS but apparently not at all. How can this be happening and all of a sudden non-stop?
Rebooted and removed the one new widget I had added today, and still, the homescreens have to re-draw before my eyes every single time I go back to them from anywhere else on the phone. WHAT THE ****.

OK, I almost had a heart attack that the phone was going to keep doing this now, but I just figured out why. I was showing my friend the phone and the options in Developer options, and I must have accidently turned on "Don't Keep Activities"...that's why Launcher would terminate every time I left it!! It closes each app when you leave it.
So make sure if this is every happening to you, you check that option!!
Sorry to sound so paranoid guys
Strange thing happened this morning. Using the device clicked a link in the XDA Developers app, but then canceled it. Device immediately locked up. Did battery pull after waiting 10 minutes. Device froze at lockscreen after booting. Battery pull, waited 10 minutes, could not get past lockscreen (gave a little vibrate when I touched the screen). Cleared Dalvik, booted itself a few times. Finally got past lockscreen, but kept getting Apex Launcher has stopped working - clicking OK just bring up error message again. Tried fixing permissions, no change - just keep getting Apex Launcher has stopped working loop, and I can't get past it...
HELP!!!!! Any ideas?????
EDIT: Data is working as I keep getting email which I can load quickly from status bar after hitting ok on the error message. But then the error message shows again in front of the email client.
ICS - Abduction ROM, Apex Launcher latest stable.

I had a similar problem a while back when I first tried out CM7...
I uninstalled the pre-installed ADW and installed ADW EX but for some reason when I'd start the phone ADW would constantly force close and the only thing I could access was stuff that popped up in the notifications bar.
Now, it seems my problem was a little different in that when I would access something else, I wouldn't continue to get all sorts of ADW errors like it seems you do with Apex after opening the email client. I really wouldn't expect that to happen... the launcher is just an app, so if you've switched to the email app and Apex force closes once, there should be nothing starting it up again to allow it to force close again (until you press the home button).
Nevertheless I'll tell you what I did and maybe it'll work for you...
I wanted to be able to get to the market so that I could uninstall ADW and then reinstall it. Since I couldn't get to it via the launcher, I did a long press on the search button, and did a voice web search for something... anything will do, you just need to get to the browser. Once you're in the browser, go to the android market website. It should ask if you want to open in the Marker or the Browser. Choose Market and viola... now you can uninstall and reinstall.
Hope that helps.
Thanks for the reply. That sounds like it would have worked, I had to go out and needed my phone. So I just flashed (updated) to Abduction 1.81 - twice. The first time still was getting the Apex error. Very strange, but it seems better now. Thanks again.

or go to settings apps - all - apex launcher - clear defaults .....apex often does that when it needs to update
First off, I searched for a solution for this problem but wasn't lucky. Sorry if this post isn't new/useful for anyone.
I'm using GO Launcher EX and I'm quite happy with it but a few days ago I had the following problem: after rebooting, the launcher kept restarting if I opened an app too early. Thinking that the launcher simply needs more time for initialization I just waited one or two minutes and the issue was solved. But today it kept restarting every two to three minutes even though I didn't start any app. It's probably RAM related i.e. because of low memory available the launcher gets killed by the OS etc. but that's just my assumption.
Solution: in settings go to advanced settings and activate the system persistent mode. That's it
I was having the same problems.Anyway i'm using holo launcher now.

@leodasal2: did you have the same problem?

Fix
Hello,
Try go launcher ex v4.17
After spending a significant amount of time building a really cool Zooper widget, my work has been frozen, literally. The widget does not update, it's static. The time doesn't change. I have several modules triggered by advanced parameters, which do not take effect (i.e., a play button pops up when I'm connected to bluetooth, this doesn't happen). Even if I try to force a refresh in the zooper app, the widget on my homescreen doesn't change at all. In the Zooper config screen, the preview shows the widget correctly (everything updated and presented as it should based upon advanced parameters).
Everything was working last night, but this morning, it's now frozen. Restart doesn't fix the problem.
I'm using ZW v2.58. Nova Launcher Prime. Note 4 AT&T (nonrooted). FWIWs, I tried using Apex and had the same problem.
Help, please!
Have you tried deleting your widget from homescreen and place it again?
Yes. I've tried also uninstalling and reinstalling Nova and ZW. And the problem recurs. I even tried recreating the widget, but the problem recurs.
This thread is old but I have had this same issue, Zooper Widgets not updating. I have to restart my phone to get them to update.
Hi, I just bought this phone a couple of days ago and I have a few problems.
First of all, I am using Lawnchair Launcher because I couldn't deal with having only 4 apps on a row but I don't think this influence my problems. The problems that bother me are that any clock widget I try to use always remains behind the in-built clock on the notification bar while the alarms seem to show random times. I have to point out that I tried about 6 or 7 different ones and they all end up doing this.
The second problem is that I installed Navbar Apps because having a white navigation bar in almost every app is annoying and I wanted it black. However, if I don't let it stay open in the task manager ( or whatever is called the thing where you see all recent opened apps ) it stops working. Furthermore when I open the app it says "Detection of running apps is disabled.", I press Enable, the phone takes me to the Accessibility settings but the app is already enabled. I already tried to change the battery settings and in the Installed Apps settings but it doesn't change anything. I hope somebody smarter can enlighten me.
Thanks and have a great day!
