So I'm 2 days in and getting use to the Z Fold 3. At first my hands struggled but already adjusting, it's not the weight, because my S20 ultra with otterbox defender on it weighs about the same as a naked Z Fold 3 or more (311g) on my scale so that's no problem. Stretching my fingers around the opened phone in landscape mode has been my challenge but I'm getting there! So my questions.
Any issues with tempered glass screen protectors on the outer screen?
I havn't had insurance on any phone or tablet in years because I'm pretty good with taking care of my devices. I know the manufacturer warranty is 1yr against defects. Has anyone had situations that make it worth paying for the insurance which range between $12-25 a month and then having deductibles on top of that? A cracked inner screen is $460 If I were to crack it somehow in the next 2-3yrs, paying out of pocket is cheaper than paying any insurance within that same period, Idk if it's worth it or not. omegle xender
I notice in landscape mode on the inner screen, I seem to have a hard time getting the screen to register my taps close to the top of the screen on the side where the volume and power buttons are. For example, chrome tabs, they barely will register when I tap them to close them out. I've tested different holding methods to assure my hand isnt touching any other part of the screen but it still has a hard time registering my taps at the edges. Has anyone else noticed the edges of the screen lacking sensitivity to touch?
1. I haven't used tempered glass but I do have a screen protector but I got rid of it after a while because I just didn't think it was necessary for me. I have a case that is raised up pretty good so I don't think it's a big deal to me.
2. As I got mine lightly used off Swappa, I have no insurance on it and I'm content so there's that.
3. That is not something I have experienced in the several months I've had mine. Have you turned on the setting under display for increased touch sensitivity?
Also look up the test menu code for this device and do a touchscreen calibration, can't hurt.

Has anyone noticed that the silver keys Send,End, Back on the front get scratched up really quickly. Everywhere else on the phone is protected and brand new but the phone has been sitting on my desk for a couple days. Is it a scratch magnet or what?

well what caused it to get scratch? maybe there were objects that were hitting against it in your pocket(if you do put it in your pocket)
or do you flip the phone over for speakerphone and tend to drag it on the desk around?
i certainly have no scratches on mine and i did drag it a little but none

I don't have any scratches whatsoever on my phone. I had this baby from December and the only protection I have my phone is the screen protector. I don't what you have been rubbing against your phone but it must be something rough, as posted above.
I've had my TP2 for months and no scratches here.

Well that's what you have the screen protector for! That said.... depending on the quality of your protector it will show more wear quicker. For a time I ran on old tilt without a protector and NO scratches showed up on it at all. Then I put the protector on and bam... after a month.. scratched to hell. Same tile the Tilt 2!

Annnd yeah I have had my phone since December and not a scratch on the thing. I keep my phone in a holster on my belt and when I'm in my truck it goes into the car holder. I often put my phone face down on tables and what not and no scratches on the front for me.
It's all based on how careful you are with something that has value. Perhaps it's just you and not the phone.
Actually what I was asking everyone was whether or not they noticed that the chrome keys are pretty prone to light scratches, hardly noticeable in certain angles.There was an issue like this with the touch pro where they were exchanging phones for free at repair centers.I bought the phone a week ago and have barely used it and noticed that the chrome keys were lightly scuffed its as they put so much care into everything and stick some crappy chrome on it to make it stand out. Ive had HTC phones the past 4 years and hate the chrome keys and bezels. My screen is always protected sorry if I confused some.. I treat my phone with alot of care so the user and not the phone comment was unnecessary. I was just asking other peoples opinions. I had the same problem with the Tilts chrome keys where the paint just wore away with regular use.
Ive just noticed that different carriers use different materials and finishes on phones to make it more branded. Also I was talking about a sprint TP2 and I went into the reverse logistics and found out it was a refurb so it wasn't as new as I thought.

What carrier are you with? I have never seen chrome keys on any touch pro 2 variations.

I heard that display is prone to scratches. I used HTC HD2 for two years without any scratch and without any display protection. I hate display protections!
So, is it necessary to use some screen protection or display is armored?
The Galaxy Nexus screen isn't Gorilla® Glass, but it's something similar.
All screens are prone to scratches, but it depends on luck. You can find scratch tests that show people taking keys to phones (even the Galaxy Nexus), but keys can be relatively softer than random particles of dirt, salt, dust, etc.
My Galaxy Nexus showed 2 extremely minor scratches on the screen after a few days of very, very gentle use; however, they're only noticeable when reflected under a 6500K-150W light bulb (basically, sunlight) with the screen off. Any other time (with screen on or off), they're impossible to see. No idea where they came from, but meh.
A quality screen protector is a worthwhile investment, and isn't too much of a deal if it's a decent protector. I hate Zagg protectors; orange peel and a lot of friction added to the finger (this doesn't bother some people).

That happened to my phone a well, i was carrying it around in my jeans, without anything else in that pocket...
I would really recommend to get yourself a screen protector, but I don't think one needs a case as well if you don't plan to drop your phone

You don't plan on dropping your phone. Sometimes it is just unexpected
i just let my headphones plugged in at all times, those are usually enough to prevent the phone from dropping just don't do this while riding a bike... when your phone gets into the wheel you strangulate yourself...
and yes, i'm speaking from my own experience i just got myself some bt headphones for biking
I've had this device since release and have had no problems with scratches. I've dropped it multiple times and I haven't necessarily been gentle with it. Just get insurance. Totally worth the money IMO.

I've had the G4 for about 3 weeks and the screen sensitivity is my only gripe. It sometimes takes several taps to get it to respond and when scrolling in various apps it will not always respond. Like many others I have a glass screen protector and I've read a few times that people think that might be part of the issue. I want to test this without destroying the current protector I have by removing it. I have also noticed that if I need to push for several seconds on the same spot (mainly for long pressing on the keyboard) my finger will move around slightly and not always tap the area I was aiming for.
Anyone else remove their glass screen protector and notice better performance? Or maybe switching to a non-glass protector? It can be frustrating when thinking you tapped the screen and then doing it again and again.
I went to return my phone, peeled off the screen protector, and the difference was huge. Still very weak touch response even without a protector, though. Less sensitive than a Samsung or iPhone anyways. I decided to just get used to it and it doesn't really bother me as much anymore. I went with a warranty replacement to be safe anyways, and it does seem to be a little better than my previous phone. Still a much weaker touch response than my S4 ever had, but i will say that my gf's iPhone 5 is much worse with her thicker glass protector (i bought a really thin .2mm one, which has already spidered within a week xP)
Thanks for the response Ryan. I'll probably remove the glass protector as well then. I bought the one that Verizon offered which I think is a generic brand. It looks great on the phone but with this issue it's not worth it. Thanks again!
Just a quick update. I replaced my glass screen protector with this one from Spigen and it is noticeably better. As Ryan mentioned previously, still not perfect which I believe is something that LG needs to work on. The phone is not as responsive as it should be. The previous glass protector was too thick and this Spigen one makes a huge difference. I still occasionally have to tap twice but this at least makes me want to throw the phone less.
I use an Invisashield and I haven't had a single issue with touch responsiveness. I just got my phone a few days ago so maybe it's got something different. I don't know.
I'm considering buying this phone especially for hiking and sometimes I need to use it when it is raining. I own a S5 that is waterproof, but as soon as the screen is a little wet, the phone becomes totally unresponsive.
Is the Active 7 still usable when there are drops on the screen or is all wet? As far as I know the Note 7 has that functionality, and I was wondering if it is the same with this phone.

depends on how wet it is. Water interferes with the capacitive touch screen. If you want something that works well when wet, go for the Note 7. It doesn't use capacitive touch for the stylus, and you can disable the screen when the stylus hovers, so you can use it, even when submerged
In case of any potential buyers interested, I finally got the phone and it worked very well for me. I used it while it was slightly raining and my screen got drops everywhere but I could keep using the phone with no problems.

That's true but when you "touch the screen" on the Galaxy S7 Active you're not touching the capacitive screen, you're touching the polycarbonate overlay which sits on top of the actual glass digitizer.
The Galaxy S7 Active is much better than previous Active models for use when the "display" is wet and the reason is because the polycarbonate overlay doesn't have the same issues when it's wet that the actual Gorilla Glass 4 which is under that overlay would have. That "plastic" (it's not really plastic but people call it that anyway) allows the GS7A to respond much better to touch controls than the previous Active models.
Test it yourself, put a few drops of water on it or dunk it in a bathtub and see for yourself, at least it does for me when I took mine swimming with me the other day for some testing. Was able to do most everything perfectly normally - I owned a GS4A years ago when it first came out and once that display got some water on it that was it - it just would not work at all until I removed it from being submerged.
That's the main reason the Active has the physical buttons and can take pictures or video using the Volume buttons, but the GS7A is a definite improvement for actual submerged use.
That polycarbonate overlay is more scratch-prone than the GG4 underneath it so, at least Samsung is planning to offer the replacement kits for sale at some point.
So, recently my z fold 3 developed some small Cracks on the inner screen along the "CREASE". It's more than a year of use and now it's not under the warranty. It seems to be a common problem as these folding screen have a limited lifespan..
What to do..??
Are you unfold in temperatures below 0 degrees celcius?
If you are cracks so only possible is replace screen, use like this for full damage or sold like broken and buy new device.

Just check it's not the factory fitted screen protector that's not cracked. Mine cracked after ~12 months.
This can be removed and the screen has been fine since (>2 months now)
No man.. I removed the screen protector long time ago when the factory fitted screen protector started to intake bubbles along the crease.. after using it for a while I removed the screen protector and now I can discover new tiny cracks in every 2-3 days... it feels the screen will break in half if this continues..
You removed the Screen Protector and now you complain, that the screen developped some cracks? and now you want to know, what to do?
It's easy: Send it in for repair or dispose your device and buy a new one ...

Thats a shame. I agree with the post above, I think cold temperatures make them more susceptible.

You HAVE TO when it bubbles up, because it traps dirt and actually cracks the screen early. The screen protector doesn't protect from cracks forming in the crease of the display.

Bigger case
My inner screen protector went bonkers about a week or two before 1 yr warranty expired last August....contacted Samsung and they sent me to a place to have a new screen protector installed (no fee). The person didn't do a good job, had a few bubbles.....I eventually traded it in to Samsung at the time the ZFold4 came out. Hope inner screen protector lasts longer.
The same crack happened to me as well.
I had to remove the screen protector after 6 month because it started to peel at the crease, trapping dust under it.
Two month after warranty expired, the screen cracked internally in the middle.
Our local samsung dealer claim that I broke the screen though no damage can be seen.
Someone should put a class action against samsung. It seems that everyone who purchased a samsung foldable device, will join the claim.
