Has anyone here tried Divest OS for xz2c?
No. What's so special about it? They say its a soft fork but just looks about the same.

Please read the website, it has extensive documentation on what is changed and how it improves security/privacy/longevity.
It in many cases may literally look like LineageOS, but most devices have hundreds of patches added to fix known security issues, in addition to all the general system hardening and changes.

DivestOS is *the* most secure operating system available for many of these end of life devices.
I think there is some value in that.

You know, I take it back. Right you are. I appreciate the comments on the issues too, they are a big help pointing me in the right direction especially because I don't plan on leaving Oreo ever, last decent Android version IMO and anything with scoped storage is irredeemable. I didn't know it went that far back in versions, it initally just looked like Android 12 builds from looking at the screenshots (which I hate especially UI wise which didn't help). Maybe I'll take a spin with DivestOS someday to get it ported to the xz1(c). I probably won't use because the customization features in RR are a must for me (mostly ticker notifications, just so handy and quick)

For what device? xz2c? A user reported issues with upgrading from 18.1 to 19.1, but had no issues with a fresh install of 19.1.
I wouldn't try relocking this device unless you are perfectly happy to potentially receive a brick in return.

Any luck with banking apps working at all with unlocked bootloader on DivestOS ? Thanks

Hello everyone,
I've read on XDA Portal an article about Project Treble porting for a Xiaomi device.
Basing on this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...pment/research-project-treble-ported-t3744602 I've learned that this porting is possible and some developers are already in it for Xiaomi devices and OP5/5T. Is there someone who could be able to do this? I don't have any type of knowledge about it but I offer myself as tester whenever it would be useful. I'm asking for OP3 developers if they think it could be possible for them too.

Good thing is that a physical /vendor partition isn't mandatory anymore, check this post for reference:

Also it seems like the official lineageOS maintainer of op3(t) knows more than we do, seems official "treble support" is coming, let's hope the best:

Yeah, I'm also not really confident but at least they evaluate the possibility of implementing "project treble", seeing quite some other OEMs stepping forward (most surprisingly Huawei) is a good sign and puts some healthy pressure by competition on them, in addition the "feared" re-partitioning is kind of obsolete which was the strongest argument against it, let's hope they come up with something, having the 5t not in the "treble - gang" from the get go (that's why they released it as a nougat device) was the deciding factor for me to not buy it, that however shouldn't impress them as they sold more devices than ever in the recent past, they no longer depend on the "core users"...

If it does or it doesn't it won't matter to custom rom devs. Treble was so the oem didn't have to rework their stuff. Aosp based roms change the code at the base.

Of course it was done for OEMs, or better to reduce their difficulties to keep devices up-to-date, to solve a problem as old as Android itself, this however doesn't mean we couldn't use it for another purpose - first developments showed that quite some devices are able to boot GSI, be it native "treble support" or "treble support through modification"...

That's the good thing to my understanding, whenever "big G" drops AOSP sources (i.e. upgrade to android P) every "treble supported" devices should be able to boot the "generic system image" (GSI) as required by Google's CTS...

I dont see roms adding this to their code base. That requires waiting on someone else.
Here is the problem with a GSI and custom roms. To many device dependent changes made to the aosp base. Roms are not gonna stop making these tweaks for the sake of treble.
Ok Big G drops AOSP source. The process is still the same. The rom devs have to take it, rip it apart, start by fixing what google messed up (a yearly task), then add in their own features. Just look at the work it has taken to get aosp to even work right on a device that "supports" treble.
Im not saying that this will never be a thing. Just many outside of the hype pool dont think it will effect 3rd party devs very much. Time will tell.
Maybe this can help you

look here -> https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...opment/discussion-guide-oneplus-5-5t-t3776358
we need all fully binderized HALs to enable Trebble.
Treble support (unofficially if no official support is coming) would be nice to see on the 3/3T now that Android P Beta runs on treble supported devices. OP5/T has unofficial treble support already

I tried to find the source but cant.
Oneplus doesnt need to bring treble to OP3 as developers can easily create a vendor partition. The required blobs and high chance on a brick by resizing the partitions are another story though....

Doesnt mean much as it is not fully functional. Treble is not all that impressive and is not what people were lead to believe. Let alone on one of the worst roms on the site it is not a surprise that things are not working.
As it is initial, there will b fixes for it in future.

Hello guys, I was planning to build a rom from source so that we can start integrating different custom roms for our devices. I have a rig with good specs and a good internet connection too. What roms do you suggest to build?
I was kinda planning to build anything that's possible since our Device Tree and Vendor Blobs is now available. I think this is a good opportunity.
Kindly leave some suggestions, I'm just a newbie.
CrDroid, Pixel Experience and Ressurection Remix.
But, why custom?
I really prefer the original stock ROM and keep the system unchanged.
So I love magisk, because I can root without having to modify the system.
Together, Xposed, XprivacyLua, Adblocker and TitaniumBackup are all perfectly fine.

why won't an O.S. developed by one or two people have lags too?
If your battery is discharging quickly, just track battery usage and see what's draining excessively.

That's the issue with Xiaomi, good hardware, poor software. They are able to provide cheap smartphones only due to earning money from ads in the softwares. Let's see development for Note 9 is going good now, almost every bug is fixed and device tree is stable, forums for note 9 should be filled with roms within time.

Yes it is an answer. It explains everything about it. If you can't read and understand then factory spyware is for you.
I see a bunch of ROMS over here on the PRO side.
Can a OP9 type dude get some love...... Dang! Lol.
Haha, thanks to all the developers regardless. You guys are awesome. I'm just a typical flashaholic. Maybe I need a meeting. Syke. Time to flash more
Yeah it would be nice to see some of these over there. I started trying to figure out how to port them myself but I need someone who's willing to help me get a working device tree because I was confused as to what source I should be using.
I was following this.

I might have to learn how to do that. And I could join you.
Maybe you should consider donating a device to OP9 Pro Devs, they might make a ROM or two for you.
Shoot I could do that. I flip phones for a living.

My point too, the same goes for the devs. They don't own the device, they won't build ROMs.

There's not that many differences between the 9 and 9 Pro to account for though. I mean you can flash the complete 9 Pro firmware to a 9 (many of us have unfortunately had to cross-flash to the Indian 9 Pro firmware after the device got fussy and didn't flash properly) and it boots and functions fine, just the camera cutout is in the wrong place. It really should largely come down to the kernel.

The kernel isn't the only "issue" with making a unified build.

Of course not but there shouldn't be too much that needs to be changed is my point, it's not like this is an entirely new device, over 90% of the hardware is shared.

Well, the majority of the devs from the OP9 Pro are not willing to do it without owning the device. It's understandable, it's their free time. Blind building, waiting for the feedback, logs, etc... It's pain.
