I was on my mind for a while, but i couldn't take the laggy interface of NOT FUNTOUCH OS anymore and the awful inconsistent battery life anymore, which is kinda of a big shame as the camera ROCKS and is better than any phone out there easily(except the Mate 40 Pro+).
So, yesterday i've bought the ROG6 after many thoughts and here is my conclusion so far:
-Let's start with the not so good that all the reviewers have been pointing out... The Camera!
It ain't that bad, it actually quite good and useful during daylight and less during nighttime, but it's still doing the job.
Yes it ain't touching the X80 Pro, not by miles and miles and miles... but it's more than serviceable specially selfies.
-Battery+Speakers+Performance+Battery Life are TOP NOTCH!
I've got 8.10hr before battery reached 5%, and while it seems to be "low" since it has 6000mah, keep in mind that it was the first boot in which i've transferred all the data from the vivo, restored whatapp backups, played some games, installed YouTube, updates and had it all under 165hz all the time, so first impression of the battery is excellent( probably can get easily 10-11hr with 144/120hz usage).
Performance ****s all over x80 pro besides it being SUPER FAST, it did one thing that no android that i ever owned has ever done... CLOSING BACKGROUND APPS, it did NONE of it, all my apps were in the background and never reloaded, i'm still shocked tbh( outside some oddities like Tinder and OKCUPID, which android really hates).
Speakers are punchy, bassy and have good balance of volume, and you can force an "outside mode" that will make them very loud at some expense of the sound quality.
The screen is FHD+ but it's gorgeous, not matching the vivo or high-end Samsung screens but it's very good.
Asus has just 3 preinstalled apps and clean android, it boots and loads everything so fast that i miss it sometimes.
In conclusion, for now, it is the Vivo X80 Pro we deserve but never got!!!

I used Mate 40 Pro before and I have to say its camera is very good for both day and night situations. Just wonder how good is the Mate 40 Pro Plus's camera as you said here compared to X80 Pro? (you said x80 pro is better over most of the phones except the Mate 40 Pro Plus)
How about P50 Pro? have you have any chances to test it or use it?
Currently I'm still using S22U. Although the camera is not in the same level as Huawei in night mode, I found that its portrait mode is superior, especially 3x zoom portrait mode. The photos came out can be compared with my Nikon and Canon DSLR in terms of portrait (not kidding, I'm so surprised). So I guess I'll keep this S22U because I don't have any problem with lag, heating, or battery. I heard that the new update coming up in August can fix the shutter lag problem of the camera (my main issue currently). So if it's true then I would be really happy with my choice. Will look at x80 pro when the software is more stable in the future and the price dropped at least $100-200 more.
Mate 40 pro 50mp ai mode is unmatched, the vivo is much better during nighttime and slightly better zoom.
But overall the X80 pro phone as a whole is a disaster atm, not recommended.
I told you !!
Asus rocks ...
If they would spend a tad more on the camera and less on a backdisplay that's kinda useless and just have a faux leather back which would include Wireless charge then it would be a STRONG contender for any Android Flagship device.
Enjoy ....

Haha you were so ****ing right!
ASUS should make a combo of rog with zenphone with minimum gaming features.
Just customization of the software and hardware.
Outside the camera and screen, the ROG6 feels so far ahead of the vivo x80 pro it's not funny
Second day of using the phone, 165hz 1d 1hr 9.15hr sot!
That's how you do battery and don't excessively close background apps all the time, even with 12gb ram.
I'll keep the x80 pro for the camera and to see if Vivo can fix there awful software.

Fastest phone I've ever had, my internet speed has almost quadrupled. Smooth fast phone for sure.
I went from my G2 to this G5 and my internet hotspotting is silky smooth now. I went from playing R6 Siege with spotty 150ms latency to smooth 90ms latency.
Swithed yesterday from my G3 to the G5. This thing is so ******* fast, just ridiculous
G5 presents a very good performance mainly because the LG overlay.
After a few months, mine has gotten insanely slow. Not much is installed on it either.

I believe the slow down you are experiencing can be attributed to your launcher. If you use Nova launcher rather than the default LG Home, your device should never slow down - even with many apps installed. I would suggest changing it and then report back your results.
The device is very fast. Probably has the processing power of some full size computers.
I've had my G5 for a while now and the speed is still superb!
It's funny, people are so retarded. Everyone bashes on LG as in being a bad brand all the time everywhere. Meanwhile they build the most technologically advanced screens on the planet. The phones are of very high quality. I have the G5 for a year now, still as good as the day I bought it. I own a ultra wide monitor from LG who for the price crushes competitors. But yeah keep bashing because it's keeping prices low and gives faster pricedrops.

I agree LG makes a great product, had three LG phones so far, all worked great, sold two of them so far still working great. Just wish the H831 had root capability but it doesn't so no big deal.
It's faster than my core2duo laptop. I abuse my phone all day at work and this thing has been a monster. Battery life is awesome when the screen brightness is less than 50 percent too.
Super fast with Lineage OS! (h850)
Benchmarked with PcMark Work 2.0
3719 with battery optimization & balanced perf. profile
6214 in performance mode

Although I don't agree with the bashing, you can't deny the problems with the G3, G4, G5 and V10.
many G3 just died for no reason..G4 and V10 fried after a year or so. G5 has awful GPS design and very common image retention on the screen. G2, G6 and V20 are the best in my opinion. I had G4 that died, and I have a G5 right now with image retention and GPS that I fixed about 5 times already. Image retention and crappy GPS are very common issues with the G5, whether you have these issues or not.
The main reason I keep it is the camera.
The phone is very fast but I'm really disappointed about gaming part, framerate drops in big games with max settings, I was expecting better from a S820 device.
I'm thinking moving to LineageOS when 15.0 will be released.

Here as well, after a month i notice some slide downs, didn't update the software atcall, android 6.0.1 and firmware v10a as in the day it came.
---------- Post added at 03:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:17 PM ----------
Also, i have image retention, gps is still good (that's one off the most important parts for me) and the Antutu benchmarks vary from 98000 to 141000, so does speed and framerate in games. I had LG optimus g pro before this one, g5 is faster for sure, but i have a problem when i run Sunvox (a DAW I've been using since long) and the sound is choppier sometimes than on my old G pro
I was thinking to buy HTC 10 very soon, and i have watched many reviews about this phone and they all just the same. The main flaws of HTC 10 is the camera. And i just know that there's several updates from HTC regarding it HTC 10 and camera.
So i things i want to ask is, considering its update, is there any improvements on the camera? and is it still worth to buy?
Thanks!

The camera isn't bad at all and, despite what some might say, it's a lot better than that on the 5X and 6P (I own the 5X). I've found updates to address a lot of my initial complaints with the camera, focusing is a little faster and more reliable now, the camera doesn't prompt you to uncover the AF laser and the app now has more features. The app is kinda slow to launch for some reason, it's not slow by any means, but does hesitate for about 2S which most other phones don't. For comparison, I'll talk about the S7 which is one of the best this year. While the camera isn't as good as the S7 overall, I would say that still image quality is similar, they just process differently. In fact, there are various things the 10 excels at, such as detail retention, which is fantastic for a smartphone, think photos of text and textures, especially in low-light, the 10 is actually better than the S7.
That being said, the S7 both focusses and takes images quicker (though is sometimes slightly noisier). The 10 does have a slightly warmer white balance whereas the S7 looks cleaner but on the cooler side. So the 10 actually looks better for portraits but the S7 is better for indoor shots where the artificial lighting tends to make things look warmer already, the 10 can look almost dirty. I found the latest version of the HTC camera app has alleviated the warm tone slightly and it no longer really bothers me. Detail and processing are all very good and mature, the sensor doesn't support phase detect AF but uses a combination of contrast and laser which works reliably in all lighting situations, phase detect does tend to become unreliable in low light though the 10 isn't actually the greatest low light focusser. Video quality is mediocre on the 10, at least in my experiences, and if you want to take great video, you should probably look into something else. Video is choppy and exposure shifts are pretty chunky when moving from bright to dark areas or vice versa. Outdoors, the phone is better, but the optical stabilisation is weak even if it isn't affected by the jello effect like the S7. Focusing and colour accuracy in video is quite good however.
Since I never use the phone for video it doesn't really bother me and I have a steady hand for stills. The results are mostly great, I'm far less compelled to bring my Sony A6000 along; I always used to feel stranded with my M8 when trying to take good images. The M8 simply didn't have the resolution and dynamic range I needed, the 10 does (but I still use my camera for important events of course). After playing around with some of my friends and relative's phones ('m the designated group photographer), the 10 is definitely one of the better cameras, you just need to keep it still since shutter speeds drop quite low.
And what about the lens flare like on this one? Are experiencing it a lot?

It's pretty normal when the lens is clean, I don't have oily hand so my lens is usually fine, but I do find that the lens does mark up easier than most resulting in flare. That being said, I don't feel bad about rubbing/cleaning the lens since it's sapphire, mine hasn't scratched at all, even after placing the phone on the ground and table, etc. Here's a photo I took a few nights ago, it was completely dark, around 10pm the lighting was facing towards the camera. As you can see flaring was almost non-existent.

Is that with android N? Because on MM I get quite a bit of lens flare even after I've wiped the lens.
Hi! Just ordered a redmi note 8 pro. My mi 8 dieda couple of days ago and I wanted a quick and cheap replacement.
I play a lot of pubg and cod.
Anyone tried benchmarking the fps (with gltools or gamebench for example), does RN8 pro keep 60 fps even for long periods of time? Mi 8 had som throttling problems, when the phone got warm, it lost performance and fps..
Been som news about RN8 pro heating. Does it throttle also?
Any way to stop the throttling? with FDE-AI or similar apps, anyone tried?
Found some tests on youtube. Doesnt seem to be able to keep 60 fps on lowest settings.. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=redmi+note+8+pro+fps+test
I am also thinking on buying either RN8 Pro or realme 5 Pro. I have seen a lot videos on youtube.
And I think its performance is better as compared to Realme 5 Pro but every Youtubers mentioned one thing in particular that heats up a little bit.
I am currently on Redmi Note 3 Helio P60 Variant. Even its performance is very satisfying for me with pubgfx Tool on Smooth + Ultra.
So it is going to be an upgrade for me either way. ??
It wont throttle and heat as much if you set it to Smooth Extreme. If you set it to HDR Ultra then the device will heat up, but it won't throttle.
For COD, High-High 60fps stable, heat is tolerable
I got the phone and are satisfied so far. Not quite as fast as mi 8. I noticed that game turbo improves performance and reduces throttling.
You can check these scores. One with game turbo, one without. you notice that without it throttles alot more

No, have only tried miui 11.
Any updates on your impressions?
as a former poco f1 user, i'd say its about on par with it as far as performance goes (on paper there is about 15% more power to the poco f1) the main reason i switched to this phone was the display and the bigger battery for the most part i'd say the display is better then the poco's especially because the notch is basically gone, as for battery i'd its around the same or the redmi note 8 pro is a little bit better, also i only switched to this phone cause i had a chance to do so for free and i don't regret switching honestly.
I play pubg daily (ace rank). Performance is good. Most of the time you get 60 fps, some dips to 40-50 fps at start of landing at hot drops. TDM and mostly domination feels laggier. Might be those game modes...
After seeing Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, I'm floored by how much OnePlus has descended into disappointment with the 9 series. I'm thinking of returning my 9 for Ultra, seen what Xiaomi is offering for the same price of a Pro, is just incredible. Hell I'm questioning why I'm continuing to support OnePlus when I see how much Samsung is valuing the mid-tier and how much Oppo and Xiaomi are stepping up with their flagships. OnePlus seems to being completely lazy and disappointing in both price categories.
IRONICALLY THE Xiomi 11 Ultra photos look more natural color and definitely has more detail.
Wide, OP9 has slightest edge
Telefoto? 11 absolute OP9 destruction, annihilated.
Selfie? Best camera (11 has rear screen to use rear camera) vs the worst selfie camera? I mean really, I think OP9/Pro have the worst front camera among all their competitors.
Night photos? Xiaomi win again
Screen? Seems to be best right now with 1700 nit brightness Dolby VIsion support. The 9 Pro screen is gimmick.
Better materials. Gorilla Glass Victus, Ceramic etc.
So far Xiaomi 11 doesn't overheat taking photos.
OnePlus seems they think they are on easy street and don't have to try any more. Even though Samsung is constantly innovating, OnePlus isn't even doing the minimum right. Man I want the OnePlus from the 3T and 6T series back again.
They clearly can't play with the big boys in the flagship game. Just give it up and do better in the mid tier, cause it seems they are failing there too. Just unnecessarily gimping their mid tier to boost their flagship which really isn't flagship, it's really mid-tier with flagship price. 8 Pro seemed to me the same thing, mid-tier phone with overhyped flagship price.
Totally agree with you. Mi 11 ultra is better option than 9 pro

Definitely disagree here based on reading online, but since I can't hold the phone to confirm, I will never truly know. I think both are great phones though. Not a fan of the Mi 11 OS either.
Been using mi 10 ultra for 6 months (just switched to 9pro few days). I can confirm mi 10 ultra took better photos than onepus 9 pro, so I believed mi 11 ultra can also do a better job. The only reason I don't want to buy mi 11 ultra cause of shape, IT SO ****ING BIG. Hope oneplus may improve after some updates, if not, i'll return to xiaomi

9 Pro will have better dev support which is a must for the hot chip (SD888). And according to reviews. 9 Pro takes better pictures. 11 Ultra gets hot fast especially in the huge camera bump area then drops brightness forcefully to 50%. China software is bloated, MIUI is catroon-ish and iOS copycat. Secondary display is a useless gimmick. 9 pro takes better pictures from main sensor and ultra wide (imx766) is better that the older imx5xx in the 11 ultra. 11 ultra is only better in telephoto but Samsung S21 Ultra is even better (10X vs 5X) 11 Ultra is just overrated, overhyped and overpriced phone and it's a downgrade from the Mi 10 Ultra (slower charging, worse telephoto and overheating). 9 Pro also has a better and more advanced LPTO panel. Picture quality from the overhyped and oversized Samsung GN2 sensor are disappointing (Samsung are known to oversize things like exynos chips for example). Samsung sensor isn't a match for Sony sensors and bigger sensor doesn't necessarily mean better picture quality. I might get an 11 Ultra if it gets AOSP or lineage os and a good custom kernel but that probably never going to happen.
How many topics will there be about O+ becoming bad Vs Samsung Vs Xiaomi etcetc.
We are on a dedicated subchannel that deals with O+ devices, and especially 9 Pro here.
Isn't it possible to concentrate every posts about this on a dedicated posts where guys can trash on it without creating so many new topic ?? How many of users here already created topic about that subject
I'm just attacking anyone here, but a new O+ user, I'm just fed up with those comparisons. I never would have the idea to go in another brand subtopics and creating a post just to criticize ...
Mi11 ultra is about the numbers. Sounds Good, but in real life... Not so much.
The price is Huge! The phone is heavy. The camera is not the best. 120x zoom is BS.
It does Not charge faster than OnePlus 9 Pro (kind of the best in charging. Wired & wireless).
Mi11 gets hot. The updates are alot slower than Op. You get open beta once a month in Xiaomi? And Stable rom once at two monts.
Other Horrible thing about Xiaomi. One price for China (Good price) and for Europa/America the price Grows Big. I mean Big!
And about how bad is the camera on OnePlus. You can find youtube videos with comparision. I watch one with Op 9pro - S21 Ultra - Iphone 12 max. Op got 8 points, s21 9 points, iphone 9 points. How is that Soo Bad ?!?
The Haselblad partnership just began & is just software for now.
Maybe Op 10 will have Haselblad lens.
Oxygen OS is known to be one of the clean-best Android os.
There has been some talk about Sammi versus Pixels on XDA. If you care for camera performance, this review might aid your decision.

Pixel 6 Pro
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra — these photos show how far Samsung is behind Google
The Galaxy S22 Ultra is allergic to the sun
www.tomsguide.com
Shadow detail & color contrast much better on the P6P
On first glance the P6P looks best, but after a while too processed and too heavy on the HDR. The natural photographic nature has been replaced with a video game like processing look more and more as time goes by on Pixel.
Looking back at my pixel 2 photos, they are more natural looking than the p6 ones now.
All you need to do is check out edited RAW files and what the p6 camera is capable of is drowned in a over processing.
My kid has both, he agrees that the Pixel camera is better.

Still people just care about a "good" looking photo. Problem with samsung is that it still take lots of blurry photos
Depends on the review TBH. Both phones are in the top 3. The S22 Ultra is more expensive but has better specs, storage capacity and build quality. It's not made in China which is important to some of us.
I have both and for most things the Pixel camera is just better.
Problem is for everything else on the phone the S22U is better.

And now we have an honest unbiased response.
Both of these flagship phones are seriously flawed. Not a day goes by that I'm not sorry for selling my S20+ in anticipation of the Pro 6 that never came and the S22U that is 2 weeks delayed and counting.
The Samsung shot is way more natural but there is no way you can make a judgment on just one photo. For the majority of the time the Pixel doesn't turn in to an HDR mentalist like it has here and the results are very pleasing.
Then thing is this type of photo is one where I would expect Samsung to be competitive with the Pixel and in this instance I think I do prefer the S22U image, the slightly blown sign and building in the distance do not ruin the photo for me.
It is photos of people and pets where I think the Pixel excels which is probabnly 90%+ of the photos I take on a phone. If I was heading out to take some cityscapes I would not worry which one I took with me TBH. I'd probably take the S22U though as the Pixel on cellular would likely have a dead battery by lunchtime

^^ 100%.
One photo? come on. Both phones are great. can we just be content that phones are this good.
And there's so much more to it, than just one photo captured in one moment of time. It''s not black and white. This is much more complex to just have a blatant statement like that and these types of features have to perform well for billions of people in billions of different environments. all flag ships from 2020-22 do very, very well.
Not anymore sir... After may update camera on pixel isn't so good on sharp
