Battery mod - bn49 4000mah - Xiaomi Mi 9 SE Questions & Answers

Hey guys, my battery has started to swell and I was thinking about replacing it.
I've seen people try and put the bn49 redmi 7a battery which has 4000mah of capacity instead of the original.
Has anyone ever done this before?
EDIT:
I managed to install a redmi 7a (BN49) battery with 4000mah capacity.
I had to solder the original connector to the extended battery. All is working correctly.
The only thing is I think the phone won't be able to recognize full capacity (it still shows 3070mah) and for that I think I'm gonna need to modify some system files (don't know which yet) or flash a custom kernel, and that is yet to be found, unfortunately.
Below I will attach some photos after soldering the connector (it's not the best but I don't have much experience with soldering) and how the phone looks after installing the extended battery with back glass cover.
This is the video I watched to help me with the job
(Not English but the steps are shown)

Hi
Frankly I do not think this is possible already the batteries of the mi 9 SE are BM3M and not BN49. So yes the size is about the same but it seems to me that the connector on the REDMI 7A is slightly wider... it remains to be confirmed!

Afterwards, even if they are the same, will the BMS be able to communicate with the smartphone? Not sure either...

I watched a video of a guy doing it. He soldered the original connector to the bn49 battery... So it's a little complicated

I edited the post. I managed to install the extended battery successfully.

@xchamelionz Can you share the size of the original battery ?
(going to try the mod ^^)
I've found that the BN49 is about 74.3 mmL x 58.5mm lx 4.94mm h

Well i've been looking around different battery options and I've found that the one from Huawei:
HB525777ECW
HB525777EEW
should work better as its a 3800mah and dimensions are meant to be
74.10mm x 55.72mm x 4.90mm
Note that teh BN49 is 4mm h bigger... and only 100mah more (its not a 4000mah but a 3900mah) I am wondering how big the gap you have between the back of the phone and the phone is @xchamelionz ?
(looking for a bigger battery in which I can still close the phone ^^ (if possible)

I've posted some pics on the first post. As you can see there is not much of a gap. Didn't try any other batteries. If you try the huawei one post some pics here

Would you mind measuring the gap ? (this way I can try and make a better decision on which battery to get)

Dash w/ 6.1 Constant Crash

Hey there.
I couldn't find any old posts on this topic, so I decided to post a new thread.
Ever since I updated to 6.1 (I've tried both roms, and both have this problem. Maybe it's just my phone, which is why I'm asking) my phone will crash while sending e-mails and browsing the internet (an even faster crash when WiFi is on).
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,
James
Just for anyone who happens to come across this thread and has the same problem, it was the battery.

I assume the battery is thicker with a new battery covering? Is it that much thicker with this new battery?

Yeah it is slightly thicker that is why they provide you a new back cover... But it is not much thicker... I would say about 4-5 mm thicker.... which is about a half a cm... not to bad...

Got mine on eBay and recieved it in two days via USPS.
It is a bit bigger now; the battery cover is about the size of the phone so the bottom of your phone where the battery is located is about 2x the size of the stock size.
When I talk in calls or hold the phone my finger usually uses the size difference to grasp the phone in a way.
I like it!

Nice so is your back cover the same as the phone like the same feel, because my friend got one and the back cover was not rubberized rather it was shiny...
Mine is the same OEM style cover. Rubberized and same color. I'll get you the link to the seller's store.

[Q] Will The Door Fit?

Thursday i bought a 3800mAh extended battery from ebay with sprint in the title and also on the battery itself from the pictures i saw. I looked in the description and it also said verizon in it and was a tad confused as to will it fit. For $15 i figured i might as well try it out and see but it gets here monday. I just wanted to know if anyone knows if it will fit on my sprint galaxy nexus properly? or maybe i will have to make some alterations as long as it works? link for it is: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370639867086
Cant say for sure but the teeth that hold it in place are supposedly in different places.
I read that one or two may be out of place but all of them?

Even one or two would ruin how it's seated on the phone.
The guys in the accessories section probably have a better idea of it.

Well the battery came today and had 53 percent left on it. Currently im doing the initial first full drain and so far im already very very impressed! I can already see an increase in battery life. The door fits perfectly on both of the batteries(I ordered two of em) with no problems what so ever. Great so far. No problems with it snapping on at all
Okay im slightly confused, should i drain the battery first or charge it fully overnight?

Extra Battery

Hey guys so i got two 1900 mah batteries for my htc sensation about three months back. The battery life i get is a lot better than the stock one, but since i got one more extra battery left i dont know what to do with it. i was thinking of cutting a microusb cable up and connecting that extra battery with my phone by using a bigger case. What do you guys think ? Will it work or has anyone done some thing like this before ?? THANKS and im sorry if im posting this in the wrong section, i just joined.

Mugen 3000 mAh battery case available for order

Pre-order, that is
Here it is
At 89.50$ plus shipping it's a little steep, though. And I would have liked to have some images of the product rather than the phone. I know what the phone looks like already.
maybe an Image
you can check http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mugen-Power-Xperia-Compact-3000mAh/dp/B00RWR6XJG/
for the Pictures
Lol. With this case you can probably last 4-5 days with the z3c
Ridiculous price...$89.50
You can BUY n°5 10.000mah rapid charge external battery.......and you can use your z3c for 2 months.

Does anyone have this for their Z3 compact? Does it fit snugly and clip on properly?
Thats actually a really awesome idea with using the mag charging ports! if it were 50 bucks i would get one right now
I'd love to see this case in a video, just to get a good look at its proportions etc. It is pricey....but I'd probably just spend the cash on car parts anyway.....

You asked for it
1. I would like to see photos of the phone with and without the case lying on a flat surface, to get am idea of how thick it is.
2. When you use the case, does the phone think it's constantly being charged? What amount of days shows you ultrastamina mode?
3. How long does it take to charge fully?
4. Do you notice any overheating issues after using the case for some time?
Thanks, that's all I can think of at the moment

The case has a button on the rear of the case to enable the charging process. When the case is deactivated the phone behaves as it would without the case. With the case activated it behaves as it would when sitting in a charging dock or with a magnetic charging cable attached.
The only 'downside' so far to the use of magnetic charging port is that when the case is activated the phone believes it is in a 'dock' and automatically answers phone calls with the loud speaker on.
But I have found mention of an xposed module that may rectify this automation, I will report back with a link when I have tested to confirm its effect.
I am studying all this week so give me a little while to fully answer all your questions, but I will answer them
Photos
Here are some photos that hopefully show the case and it's proportions well enough.
I'm no photographer by any means though haha.
Oh and ignore the metal dome stuck onto the back of it, that's for my car mount.
That looks so bad!
While it is awesome to have 5 days battery life, this is for special occasions only in my opinion.

oh I agree. I wanted it mainly as an alternative to carrying a separate power bank hanging off the phone via USB cable. At least this case attaches neatly to the phone and can still fit my pocket.
So yes, ugly, but highly practical.
I feel I should also mention the build quality is really very good, it feels very solid.

Well, given the info on their homepage it should last at least twice as long as your phone does now.
built in battery is 2600mAH, the mugen brings an additional 3000mAh. So I guess in Ultra-Stamina mode it basically lasts like an old Nokia? I was actually about ordering one for my upcoming transatlantic flight, but I just saw that they'll ship again in mid-June only
Well, I will receive the mugen battery in 10 days, I don't use ultra stamina but stamina is on all the time so I will see exactly the difference. Now I have between 8 and 10 hours sot, if I have between 16 and 20 hours sot, it's just great so I wait to see ?.

Any more impressions now that you've had it for a short while? I'm really temped to buy one too.. it's just one of those "good-to-have" things.
Also, do you charge it via micro usb, like the smartphone and how long does it take to charge the battery case completely?
Btw, do we already know the size of the Z4 Compact? it would be great if it worked on the upcoming model too..

So far so good! I do intend to put some more stats up from my usage I've just been flat out with university. Luckily that all wraps up next week!
Yep it just charges via the same cable as the phone.
The use of the magnetic charging port definitely makes the case much more useful. I had an epic ZeroLemon case for my note 3 with a built in extended battery and it such an ordeal to install and remove the phone from the case. This is a much better solution.
It's hard to measure the effect it has on predicted battery life because it charges via the magnetic charging port the phone recognises it as an AC charging source.
Once I have got some stats I might even make a little youtube review, maybe, don't want to get famous hahahaha.
