Question [SOLVED] Hard bricked device, blackscreen no response - Moto G30

Sup boys i am scared like a mf right now.
EDIT: Forgot to mention Blankflash doest work either,
FAILED: qb_flash_singleimage()->device_open()->error opening device
So to explain the situation i used the Corvus OS GSI and its been due for a update for a while. Today i updated it with OTA.
It didnt boot, no worries GSI didnt work for me without clearing userdata, so i did that and it booted.
Now for setting up magisk i saw it had an install after OTA option, and i did that thinking it was a neat little feature, pressed Reboot
And it shut down, black screen, no response from any buttons, no response from charging, no fastboot or adb devices show up on my laptop.
Its like the motherboard suddenly died.
I have backups for everything so i am not interested in getting anything from the device, but getting the money for another phone would be a pain.
Second edit and solution:
For the probably one other guy using Linux out there, blank flash wont work, use windows and install LMSA to get the correct driver.

You can try looking into restoring your phone using Blankflash. Look for guides here on XDA or on Tg.
IF you can see your device listed in the Device Manager on PC, you can probably still save it.
And for the love of of god, NEVER update a GSI with OTA, it will never work.

qboot seems to see it but refuses to flash it, and also no OTA, noted.

So what did you figure out? I have the same affliction. Whether it's qboot, QTSP, fastboot or adb, it just isn't wanting to make a connection in order to flash anything.

First use windows, install Lenovo Rescue and Smart Assistant, this installs the correct drivers.
Reboot your PC to make sure the drivers are loaded.
And Follow the blankflash instructions aka just run the BAT file in CMD.
It will say its waiting for a device.
After that press Volume Down and Power On at the same time and remove the USB cable from the phone and insert it again and again until qboot starts to flash it (dont remove the cable too fast so you dont miss it).
This is what worked for me and i did il like a few nights ago.
You want to make sure you grab the right Blankflash too and all that.
But if your phone boots aka starts you dont really need blankflash you just have not setup something correctly or the cable itself is faulty or does not support data transfer.

Yeah it seems getting the button pushes right was the hardest part for me. Your button/plug idea is far superior, very nice.

Its hard to time things righ with a blank screen and no other feedback lol
That felt more natural and I am glad it helped!

Possibly bricked Kindle Fire....help needed, and appreciated!

A few of you know me already from my thread where I asked a million questions before attempting to install a custom ROM on my new KF. Well, it still went completely south somehow, so here I am.
So, I'm stuck with the stock Kindle Fire logo on the screen, and and can't get it to go anywhere.
Here's what I did:
Downloaded KFU, installed the drivers, plugged in the Kindle, and ran KFU. ADB status online, boot status 4000.....so everything seemed good, from what I've learned. Also looked in Device manager, and it showed up as Android phone, or whatever it's supposed to say. I figure I'm good to go.
My plan is to install TWRP,FFF, and root it, then boot into TWRP, and flash the ROM. The first thing I did(and it seems wrong now) was try to install FFF, instead of TWRP. I think that's the wrong order, but not totally sure if it matters, but it's my assumption that it does.
So, as soon as I sent the command, for some reason, my computer got this blue screen with some message that I didn't have time to read, because it restarted right after. It still said everything looked good, so I tried again to install FFF. I think the "crash" was just coincidental, because it didn't act like that the second time, but whatever.
Anyway.......said it was installing FFF, and then it went to <waiting for device>
I figured ...ok...need to wait.
After about 10 minutes of waiting, I held the power button down until it turned off, then turned it back on, because someone said that's what you should do if this happens. Well, essentially.....since then, I've not seen anything but the Kindle Fire logo on the screen, and it feels like I've tried everything. A forum member spent some time on the phone with me, and we tried everything he knew.....no luck.
At one point, someone told me to uninstall the drivers and reinstall them, which I did, but upon reinstalling them, nothing changed, and the computer no longer even recognizes it being plugged in as a USB device, the drivers don't show now in device manager, even though I told KFU to reinstall them. To me that's weird, and seems like a major problem, because the computer isn't "seeing" the device, but that's mu humble opinion. I'm at a total loss, and would sure appreciate some help bringing this thing back.
Thanks....immensely, in advance!
Make sure you reboot your computer. Also if you can, switch USB ports. Pay attention to your device manager when doing so. Trying on a different computer can also be helpful.
If nothing you do results in any change, it's time to give up on Windows and create a Linux LiveUSB. Linux is extremely stable and pretty easy to set up and send adb/fastboot commands with. If you do decide to take that route, Ubuntu is pretty much the standard and version10.4 generally works better than later versions.

I rebooted, switched ports, and it didn't seem to change. The computer didn't even recognize it being plugged in. I just plugged in a flash drive, just for fun, and got the message that USB device was detected, so it's not the computer....to me anyway. Also tried plugging the Kindle into my wife's older Dell, and it gave me a message that a USB device connected to the computer wasn't working properly.

Yeah, that's what I meant.
Why Windows fails to install/load the drivers for fastboot is really a mystery to me. It obviously has the adb part of it working or you wouldn't be in fastboot in the first place.
You need to provide details on exactly what's going on when Windows attempts to load drivers.
Turn up the sound volume on your computer. With the device connected to your PC, turn it (the Kindle Fire) off and back on. When the device puts itself into fastboot, Windows will provide a series of two tones.
low->high means it's connecting
high->low means it's disconnecting.
If you get the low->high tones without the high->low tones following them up, you should be seeing SOMETHING change in the device manager. Don't gloss over the details with "Android phone whatever" but report what you see. The device drivers post in the beginner's guide has details on what should appear in the device manager.
EDIT: Also do this...
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315539
Even with the device disconnected, you should see 4 devices under "Android Phone" if you've managed to get those device drivers installed from KFU.

I just did exactly what you said......plugged it in, turned it off. Turned volume all the way up, turned it on....no sound of any kind.
The weird part is when I first installed the drivers, I checked it by plugging the device in, and had adb status online, staus 4000, plus I went to the device manager, and I remember two things that said android phone. One said android phone, and the other said android something or other. And, it was seeing the device and everything seemed hunky dory, and I guess at that time it was???
I did uninstall and reinstall the drivers via KFU, and it says it's installing them, but never again have I seen anything in device manger that says Android anything. That is just wrong to me.
Personally I think you're spinning your wheels with Windows and causing yourself more headache than needed.
Create a bootable Linux LiveUSB on a thumb drive with Ubuntu 10.4 and get Android-SDK installed on it.
[Edit:]fixed spell check fail
I'm starting to think you've killed your bootloader or got a bad flash when your machine crashed. This is why I suggested you flash your recovery first, because you can still fix that through the bootloader if a recovery flash goes wrong.
In any case, I think soupmagnet is right... FireKit is probably the next thing you should try if Windows won't even recognize the device being there. If on top of that, I'm right about your bootloader, you're going to have to crack your case open and put it into USB boot mode because Firekit won't be able to fix that on its own.

Trust me.....I realized not too long after that I had done the wrong order. I even had a note to myself right here that said:
TWRP
FFF
Root
For the life of me, I don't know why I did FFF first.
All the questions I asked, and as anal retentive as I am, I totally screwed that part up, which may be the entire problem. Trust me.......I'm pissed.
You should at the very least, set up the Android-SDK on your LinuxUSB and check to see if it's just a driver issue you're dealing with. Linux handles the drivers for Android devices much better, and in most cases, easier than with Windows.

Can I ask what Firekit is?
Firekit is a tool used to fix major problems easily. I would use it as a last resort because there isn't a command for just installing TWRP without the bootloader.. Get your Android-SDK installed and I'll help you with the drivers and platform-tools install.

Original post
Alright, I'll give as much info as possible. If anyone can save me from having a $250 paperweight, I would... Well, probably whatever they asked me to. Here it is in a nutshell. I was on AOKP with TWRP recovery. I jump ROMS everyday it seems, so why would today be any different? I boot into TWRP, make a backup, wipe cache, factory reset (data and cache), delvik cache, and then system (here was my mistake). Then I was going to install another ROM when I was suddenly needed by family. In my infinite genius I decided "Oh I'll just shut down without a ROM installed, that'll go well!" and shut the phone down through TWRP options (/facepalm).
Finally, I come back to it and decide "Ok, I'd like to install a ROM now". I boot it up (holding up, home, power), but accidentally let go of home and power instead of just power so it tries to boot. No prob, I just do it again. Now I hold it this time and the trusty "teamwin" splash comes up. But something isn't right. It restarts instead of giving me options. "ok...." I think, and I try it again. Same thing. F**k, I have no recovery... So I go to my last resort. Odin mode. I get into Odin Mode, grab my USB cable and plug in (to my computer with drivers already on it from the toolkit) and! TADA! USB not recognized. That's right. USB. NOT. RECOGNIZED.
Recap
So lets recap:
No ROM
No recovery
Drivers from Toolkit installed
Odin Mode = USB not Recognized in Windows
What I tried
Here is what I have tried (in no particular order)
New USB cable. 3 to be exact.
Different ports. All of them on all of the computers.
Different computers. 2 laptops, 2 desktop. All Win 7 64-bit.
Going into recovery (it bootloops)
Letting it boot. (Does nothing)
Uninstalling and reinstalling drivers
Installing Kies
Installing nothing
"adb devices" (doesn't show up)
Using toolkit (no devices seen)
Manually chosing every driver from "Samsung electronics LTD" that my computer has installed.
Plugging in before starting Odin
Plugging in after starting Odin.
Every combination of "Power cycle, Odin Mode, connect to computer" I can think of
Actually praying to Odin
Crying
Giving up
Gaining Second Wind
Searching Google, XDA and numerous forums extensively.
Making a new thread myself
I would really, REALLY appreciate it if someone, somewhere has ANY idea on how I can flash something ANYTHING to my phone again. Thank you SO much for your time. Honestly. I mean it, thank you. Let me buy you a beer. I'm serious.
Extra Info
Extra Information: The pop up is always the "USB not Recognized" balloon. Device manager comes up with an "Unknown Device" and yellow [!] triangle. Sometimes, under details, I'll see "Code 10: Device could not start". To reiterate, the phone WILL go into Odin Mode. Thanks again.
Conclusion:
Windows GS3Toolkit fails to see it
Windows Kies fails to see it
Windows 7 OS fails to recognize it
Windows adb fails to see it
Linux adb fails to see it
Mac OS X heimdall fails to see it
Mac OS X adb fails to see it
My conclusion: For some reason, my phone is reporting itself incorrectly, with a potentially damaged usb port on the phone.
Solution A: Try to JTAG myself. (NOT RECOMMENDED) Pros: Learning. Cons: Too much to buy and ugh. F that noise.
Solution B: (Chosen path) Send to someone to JTAG it for me. Pros: Fast, easy (for me) Cons: $60
Solution C: Sell the phone. Pros: Potentially less cost (through loss) Cons: Time to sell and buy, jockey for prices, potentially lose my ass.
Solution D: Do nothing. Pros: No more loss, no more work, maybe something will come through. Cons: bricked phone

You could do some research into putting twrp on via adb.....or cwm depending on your preference..... if I remeber correctly you need to download the android sdk... I am sure it tells you on the trwp page though....... I know I have adb'd myself out of some tight spots with my transformer and also my old htc hero... haven't commited to changing the s3 yet though... concept is the same....

Select the latest .img file from here
Download the above file. Using adb shell or terminal emulator:
su
dd if=/sdcard/recoveryfilename.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
Make certain that you get this command right. Typing the wrong number could result in a brick!
After the SU on the PC i copy paste the command.....

I'm not sure how this applies. I think this is a good solution except that I can't get it to connect to my computer at all. ADB, ODIN, nor Windows 7 will recognize the device in Odin Mode and I have no ROM or recovery installed, and I can't install anything without getting it to connect. I'll keep this in case I can get something to connect and Odin doesn't work, so thank you!

Once you do this then type devices if you get your device showing up then you can install twrp or cwm.....

If you use adb to install anything, that file MUST be in the same directory as the adb.exe

Well that's the thing. It does not show up in devices. ADB will not recognize the device. I'm fairly knowledgeable with using adb and I have 3 versions on my computer. None of the three (adb.exe adb-toolkit.exe or SOCadb.exe) will view it.

Have you tried using another computer that has no trace of android drivers or anything else and installed ODIN and drivers from scratch? Also make sure you are using the stock usb cable. Just wondering if you might potentially have conflicting drivers you are not aware of.

So when you get into recovery mode (or attempt to) it just reboots after a few seconds ?
You have the teamwin spleash screen and then it doesn't give you time to select any options ? There's really no harm in formating system because it will just boot into twrp without a recovery. You might have a borked recovery but it seems like more. Samsung cords are crap and like to die randomly so another cord is really worth a shot of course make sure it has data.
When you say odin mode I assume you mean download mode and odin just doesn't light up with a com port showing a device ?

No, I don't get any options. "Teamwin" for about 30 seconds. Then black... 5 seconds. Then vibrate twice and then reboot. I think I wiped system, and then TWRP borked as you say. I have used many cords for this.
And yes, the phone goes into Odin mode, but the Odin program doesn't pick it up, neither will ADB and windows says "USB not recognized"

Download - Recovery Image Method (using dd):
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Select the latest .img file from here
Download the above file. Using adb shell or terminal emulator:
su
dd if=/sdcard/recoveryfilename.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
Make certain that you get this command right. Typing the wrong number could result in a brick!
After the SU on the PC i copy paste the command.....

I just wanted to say thank you all for the help on this situation. Nothing has turned up with the phone but I'm 99% sure this isn't a driver thing now. I'm gonna face the music and try to find either a Jtag kit somewhere or possibly someone to buy it from me. If anyone has any ideas on this and wants to weigh in, I'll of course attempt their solution, but I am going to try other solutions now. Once the device has been either sold or fixed, I will close this thread and edit my first thread with the solution for others to see. Again, each and every one of you, thank you. Hopefully, I can return the favor some day
Jtag is a little harsh at this point. That's typically reserved for devices that show absolutely zero signs of life.

Yea, yea it is but I don't know what else to try. I've browsed forum after forum after forum. Of all the people that have received help this problem (Odin is the only choice and isn't recognized), a total of 0 have had something work for them and most threads die unsuccessful. I partially blame the OPs for their lack of through information and replies, but also to the fact that I believe this is just a case of Bad Luck Brian. To have me mess up with the ROM, TWRP take a nose dive, and ODIN play enigma all at the same time seems like a very unlucky scenario.
It has been 8 days now that I've had no phone. Now, I'm not an important person, but I'd at least like to have the phone number I'm paying for, be usable to me. I am really grateful for all of the help and I don't feel slighted or let down in any way, it's just plain and simple that I want a working phone back. If something comes up here before I remedy the situation myself, I'll be sure to let y'all know how it goes, but I'm at the point where I want a usable phone. Again, thank you all for help you have provided and the time you've put into my issue.
Do you have a friend/colleague that also had an s3? Try their computer if you do. They should have the proper drivers installed, so Odin should work. This is the last idea I have. Also, check your pm.

Ah, yes. Actually, one of my posts (probably the main one) I bring up 2 laptops and 1 desktop being used, one of the laptops was his. He has an S3 (he's actually the one that pushed me towards getting one). It was the first one with this problem, as I was at his house when it all happened.
I saw that all of your attempted solutions were with a win 7 machine. Have you given using a Linux environment any thought? No drivers to worry about, and if adb will recognize it you can push a recovery, as mentioned earlier

Locked bootloader by mistake, can't use the phone now

Hey all,
I just got a OnePlus 5T and because I needed a specific system language I decided to flash a custom ROM. I unlocked the bootloader, flashed Derpfest on it and it was all good until I made a mistake. From the Developers options I unchecked "OEM Unlocking" and then when I restarted into the bootloader I did a fastboot oem lock
Now the phone says it's corrupted and it won't boot. Since it's bootloader is locked I can't unlock it, I can't go into recovery and I can't start the phone. Is there anything else I can do to get it back? I don't care about wiping everything at this point, I'm just trying to get it back to a working state.
I want to add I did try the Unbrick tool https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5t/how-to/oneplus-5t-unbricking-tool-confirmation-t3733012 but I am getting stuck at the drivers. Windows won't see QHUSB_BULK in device manager and I don't see anywhere else where the driver for the phone might be. I do see the device when doing fastboot devices but again, can't see what drivers is using.
Thanks!

The unbrick tool is your best bet, what you need to do is follow the instructions. If its windows 10, you can go to device manager and update drivers from there. Make sure you are logged in as admin. Also some antivirus don't like the MSM tool so you may need to disable that.
Ensure the sequence is right. Connect usb wire to computer, press volume up, connect usb c to phone. Some ppl have tried pressing both volume up and down at the same time to make it work (same way as resolving Sahara error). If it boots first thing you need to do is back up efs.
Second you need to run these commands
adb shell
su
dd if=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/persist of=/sdcard/persist.img
exit.
It will save the persist.img on your phone internal memory. Save this as well as efs somewhere safe. Also share the persist.img with me cause I need it for the OPlus 5t for my phone.
Hope it helps

Thanks for the help! I ended up finding a different Windows PC with no memory of the drivers for this phone so I was able to install them in the correct order and then run the MSM tool to get the phone back to stock Oreo. From there I unlocked the bootloader again to install TWRP and then my custom ROM.

Hey there, sorry I totally mis-read the last part of your original post as something that I should do and I didn't see that you need that. Since I used the MDM tool I didn't bother to try your way first and since the phone wasn't mine to keep I already gave it to the owner so I don't have access to it anymore.
Again, very sorry about that.
No dramas. I also got it from some one else who was kind enough to lend it to me and let me root it and wipe it clean and then get the file and start using his phone again.
Thanks

Bricked already, Access to Fastboot. EDL Mode Seemingly Inaccessible.

I hadn't tried rooting my phone until recently since I didn't trust myself, should have gone with my gut and waited longer since this is the only half decent phone I've got. I tried flashing mauronofrio's magisk patched boot image for 10.0.3 without realizing my phone had updated to 10.0.5. I didn't think to fastboot boot because it's been so long since I've rooted a phone. Afterwards, all of my network protocols such as wifi and mobile data no longer worked and although I could text, I could not call or receive calls. So, in an attempt to fix the issue, I used the experimental TWRP via fastboot boot in order to flash 10.0.3 since I could not find a boot image for 10.0.5 which didn't work. Then, I stumbled upon this post and downloaded the pre-compiled files with which to flash the stock fastboot roms. Obviously, I was very upset with myself for failing to read and process this information thoroughly enough and for that very reason I ended up making a far more rash decision in order to repair this issue. I ran the flash-all bat once with no difference, and a second time to get stuck in a bootloop. I have access to fastboot and the stock recovery, I can fastboot flash still, but I haven't been able to come up with a solution. If I did, I wouldn't trust myself to carry it out without confirmation from someone else. Anyone feeling generous enough to help?

I had a similar, but not as terrible experience when first attempting to get root on the 7T using the patched boot images that you used. I tried several other patched boot images, but none of them would allow the device to boot. I downloaded the full update of 10.0.5, then extracted the boot.img and it allowed me to boot the device again. Then I patched it in Magisk Manager, and everything went fine and I have root. If you have fastboot access, you can try booting your device using these images with the command fastboot boot boot.img or fastboot boot magisk_patched.img to see if your device even boots up from the images. I got stuck booting from partition b at one point, and used the command fastboot getvar current-slot to see the active partition, then I used the command fastboot --set-active=a to set partition a instead. If those commands fail then you need to update to the latest adb and fastboot and the commands will work.
This is the stock boot.img for the H1905 7T update version 10.0.5:

My first try with the unbrick tool didn't even sense my phone. I saw the FAQ and then tried to find the Qualcomm drivers in my device manager to no avail, although I did find Kedacom drivers which I could not even attempt to flash over since Windows told me that the driver I was trying to push was out of date. As you can see, I did not yet mention that I still tried pushing the driver since I haven't had a reply yet. I don't want to double-post there but I'm getting no luck elsewhere. I really want this tool to work, is there some way to force push these drivers or is that a bad idea? If it is, any other ideas?
EDIT: Nevermind. I think it's bricked pretty good, I'll probably have to give up on this. When I plug it in, it only goes to bootloader, doesn't boot into recovery, system, or even show the battery percentage when charging. Bootloader hasn't been giving me many options either since the commands I've tried aren't going through. Updating ADB right now, don't know if it's likely that it's causing issues right after I already updated it.

Yeah, tried it again for good measure. Is there any chance I could get this issue resolved spending less than $100 by sending it to a OnePlus repair center or elsewhere? I'm not sure they do software repairs such as this, I didn't purchase a warranty since I figured I'd root this phone and I no longer know my IMEI since I can't access the phone to check.

Ive never sent my devices in for service so Im not sure about that. The fact that you have access to fastboot still though makes me think that you arent totally screwed yet. When I had stuff go wrong and I went to use to MSM tool, I didnt have the proper drivers installed, and my device never showed up in device manager. After installing a different set of drivers and rebooting my pc, the device showed up in device manager under the Ports section. I was able to get back into my device without the unbrick tool by switching the active partition. Did you say you already checked your active partition with command fastboot getvar current-slot? If you are on slot a, have you tried setting slot b as the active and seeing what happens? This is the command fastboot --set-active=b.

Awesome, installing those drivers right now. The link provided in the beginning of the thread for the MSM Tool just wouldn't work for me since my device was detected as something that wasn't mentioned in the entirety of the thread so I couldn't install it directly via device manager as directed. This should hopefully get me up and running on the tool, I'll update this post once the drivers are installed hopefully.
EDIT: I installed the driver but nothing has changed from before. The MSM tool still doesn't detect my phone, I made sure it was run as Administrator. My device drivers are still Kedacom which I attempted to update the driver using a file on my computer once again and Windows wouldn't allow it. Am I simply looking in the wrong place to manually install this driver? I can provide screenshots of my device manager window if it helps.

I embarrassingly don't even really remember all the specifics about how ADB works, although I don't think I have access since I'm in a bootloop when I launch Android. Unless I have access to ADB via fastboot or recovery, I don't think I do.

Yeah I had no idea what Windows test mode was. Before I rebooted just now to install the drivers you provided, I actually launched into Windows test mode with no command from me telling Windows to. I thought Windows invalidated my license yet again tbh, glad to know it didn't. I don't think I'm in test mode now, so I'm giving that a go right now. My computer takes a while to warm up so I'll let you know the results in a bit.

It will just make driver installing issues less likely. When you boot your phone, what happens on the screen? Does it get stuck on a certain screen or just restart over and over? You can see if adb can see your device with the command adb devices, and it should list your device. If not, try fastboot devices and it should be listed. You need to put the device into EDL mode for the unbrick tool to work, and for it to be shown in device manager. My friends device manager listed Kedacom just like yours, and I didnt do anything to that at all. I just used test mode, installed the Qualcomm drivers, put the phone into EDL mode and the unbrick tool should recognize it. If your phone is listed when you type adb devices, you can use command adb reboot edl to enter that mode needed for the unbrick tool.

Sadly my drivers haven't changed. I uninstalled and reinstalled the installation file you gave me since I first installed it via WWAN-DHCP instead of ETHERNET_DHCP. I use a VPN so I figured that may have affected the installation, although for some reason I didn't think to just turn off the VPN when I reinstalled. Regardless, I don't think my VPN or the way I installed the driver is the cause of the drivers mentioned not being found in my device manager, so I'm likely not going to bother.

Another problem that can cause your phone to not show up in device manager is the usb port you are using. Have you tried any other ports? Are you able to shut your phone all the way off by holding power until it turns off? If you can unplug the phone and turn it off, then hold the volume up and volume down buttons together, then plug the cable back into the phone and it should put it into EDL mode.

You need to put the device into EDL mode for the unbrick tool to work, and for it to be shown in device manager. My friends device manager listed Kedacom just like yours, and I didnt do anything to that at all. I seem to have been missing a vital part of information. I don't know why the term "EDL" just went over my head, I probably just associated it was fastboot mode when I looked it up. How do I get into EDL mode? Is it safe to assume the method listed here works for the OnePlus 7T?

Fastboot mode and EDL mode are two different things. I have never used the fastboot to EDL method, but I have read about it and I assume it should work atleast on some devices. Unplugging from pc and turning the phone off, then holding both volume buttons and then plugging the cord into the device should enter EDL mode without commands.

I must have assumed that it was fastboot mode since when I held those buttons and plugged it in, I'd always launch into fastboot mode. Perhaps it's different with the US version? That's the version I have.

The only version I have used at all is the US one. You could try holding both volume buttons for a few seconds before plugging the cable into the phone, but if that doesnt work you can try the fastboot to edl method. I have no experience with it at all though so I dont know if it works with this device or not, but you would just open the edl.cmd file and it should put the phone into edl mode.

emmc error? Suddenly black screen

Hello guys,
I'm using my 3T carefully as a media device just at home. But suddenly I couldn't control my system anymore. I could swipe and open settings, but couldn't turn on WiFi or start any app. So I restarted my phone but it never booted. Screen is completely black and even charging leds doesn't work anymore. I can't access TWRP recovery. I used the button combinations ... Nothing! But when I connect my phone to my computer windows plays the typical sound like when you plug in an USB stick. Windows sayed once that the connected device is buggy and cannot be detected. Nothing more. When I reconnect no more message or pop up again.
Has anyone any idea? Thanks a lot!

That's weird. Sounds like your screen (if not more parts) died. Hardware issue? Water damage? Might be better to contact a repair center since if you can't even access recovery I doubt the problem is related to LOS. Never happened on my 3T over the 4 years I've had it, though it's had its fair share of damage.

But before my restart I could use the screen it just looks like something in the system doesn't work: could type on apps and settings, it just doesn't open or pop back. And the charging led is not part of the screen unit as I know.... If I could take out the battery I would do it. It often works in other phones. But I don't have tools here for my 3T. :/

Sounds to me like an hardware error involving (but not necessarily limited to) emmc access. That would explain, why the parts still in ram (like homescreen) were still working but apps won't start anymore, as well as the blank screen on device startup (even the logo needs emmc access to read the logo partition).
Try unbricking (I'm afraid your pc won't find the device, if my guess is correct), if that fails: rma or repair center.

You need to be more spesific about the connected sounds, does it shows up on device manager or else, in detail (with SS/photos etc to prevent misjudge)

Thanks, I'll create a post there. Just one more post here:
I used this phone just carefully at home as a media device. So this brick came totally out of nowhere. When I connect my bricked 3T now to my computer it makes the typical sound like when you plug in an USB stick. Windows sayed once that the connected device is buggy and cannot be detected. Nothing more. When I reconnect no more pop up again.

For your trouble: if you can't boot rom, recovery nor fastboot mode, it doesn't make sense to debug the usb connection: what should the pc connect to if none of the three is bootable? There is just nothing up to connect to. That's why I recommended unbrick tool - if that fails rma or go to a repair center.

It doesn't make sense to debug the pc conmection: if neither recovery, fastboot mode nor rom is bootable, there is nothing up and running the pc can connect to (maybe unbrick tool can still access the msm hardware directly, but that's not sure - confirmation is still missing from @slev!n). I'm writing this the second time.
If none of recovery, fastboot mode nor rom is bootable, the last resource before rma or repair center is unbrick tool. I'm writing this the third time!

@nvertigo67 I wanted to do so and was searching how to contact moderators but couldn't find it in my XDA app. Maybe someone can give me a hint? I'm kind of new on xda... Thanks!
@150208 And as I wrote: it's not possible to get any kind of message on windows anymore. Just the sound appears when I connect and disconnect.
@nvertigo67 I was also following your advice to use the unbrick tool. I followed the steps on oneplus forum:
https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/guide-oneplus-3-3t-unbrick.531047/
When it comes to the integrity check windows doesn't accept "TESTSIGNING ON". And so windows doesn't recognise my phone in the device manager for the next steps.
And I guess RMA or repair centres are super expensive. I don't know if it's worth it? I thought about buying a device with a broken screen on eBay and try to change the motherboard...

There are 2 possible reason when the phone is not detected by the computer, driver or hw problem.
To know it i need to look at the device manager status
If it's hw problem, i'll try not to jump on MB conclussion yet, since there are still another possible reason
When talking about MSM, you need to make sure it's available first on the device manager
Otherwise, it's a waste of data for downloading the tool in these human malware days
Oh yes, the msm guide is quite lag behind. You don't need to boot into test mode anymore with the current driver for qualcomm
I flashed a lot qualcomm devices with w10 without the need to boot into test mode

True, if only "win is not detecting the device" is known. Since we know much more (neither rom, recovery nor fastboot mode are bootable), the debugging of the usb driver doesn't make sense. The msm tool uses it's own drivers to detect the hardware BEFORE one of the three is booted. If the msm tool has unbricked the device and booting recovery, rom and/or fastboot, you can start debugging the "nprmal" qc usb drivers, if still necessary.
For the costs of rma: maybe it's expensive - maybe oneplus will be obliging... Since you don't relay on the device as your daily driver, you can ask for an estimate of costs - so you can decide if it's worth the costs.

Wait, I fail to see your explanation in line with mine. I want to start debug it on the windows side, but you seems to see it on the phone side.
Do you realize there are cases where everything is black/nothing responding but it's still detected by computer? That when emmc is corrupt, but repairable if you format it.

If neither fastboot mode nor recovery is bootable, you need the msm interface to refprmat somethimg on emmc. In other words: if there's no recovery nor fastboot, you can't utilize adb or fastboot to reformat or to fix the partition table. You need something to connect to to do the fixing, but without recovery or fastboot, there is nothing adb or fastboot can conmect to, no matter of the driver status on the pc/win side. Once this is fixed (at least fastboot mode is up again) you can utilize the "normal" usb connection again.
What do you want to do with the usb connection, if neither fastboot mode nor recovery is up amd running? What is your suggested next step, if the device is recognized? What should the pc recognize if neither fastboot nor adb os an option? Which command or procedure will fix the emmc?

This is the part where you're incorrect. There are 4 status when a device plugged into the pc.
1. detected and driver is loaded
2. detected and driver isn't loaded
3. detected but not recognized
4. no sign at all
1 and 2 is sw problem, 3 and 4 is hw problem
In order for MSM to do it's job, you need to have either problem no 1 or 2 with qualcomm qloader 9008 driver already or later detected in devmanager
So it's important to know the driver status
OP states there was sounds coming then nothing, which mean it's either 2 or 3, more like 3 but again i repeating myself i don't like guessing games
I don't understand the part why you're explaining/asking about fastboot recovery or etc, his phone is on dead state, nothing-literally-no sign of life unless he plug it to the pc and then it making sounds for the first time,
Why do you even bother thinking about it?

If so, please explain how you can format a partition or fix the partition table if neither fastboot mode nor recovery (or a rooted system for that matter) is bootable.
@slev!n: please give a screenshot of the device manager to @150208. I'm too curious to learn how to fix a broken emmc without recovery nor fastboot mode.
Thank you so far!
I dont want to bother someone. Just thinking about further options thats why I wrote my thought about replacing the motherboard down.
I 'm in test mode now and I did this:
"Step 4 :- Press the power button for 40 seconds to turn off the phone.
Step 5 :- Press only volume up button for a few seconds and while keeping it pressed, connect your phone to PC.Keep volume up pressed till your device shows in device manager as [Unknown Device,QHUSB_BULK (under Unknown Devices) or Qualcomm HS USB (under COMs and Ports)]."
But no device is listet in my device manager. But in msmtool my phone is connected. Does it mean I cann't continue with this tool somehow?
