Hello there, I was wondering if its possible to root this television
I have Android 10 on it and would like to stay on it (I hope root also disable anoying update notifications) since I have my Galaxy S10+ on Android 10 as well and this tv came sluggish from the store, so if I update it it will probably be even slower
I have my Samsung Galaxy S10+ rooted with Magisk, so I was wondering if I can root this television with magisk as well
I found a guide on youtube:
but not sure if it will work on my Philips, I read it has MediaTek MT9602 SoC (not sure if this is only CPU or also TV/SAT Tuner) and read somewhere on XDA that because of Mediatek root is not possible or something
Now, how to recover if something goes wrong? Does it have a some download mode like my Samsung (where I just reinstall OS with odin in Download Mode as long as I don't f**ck the bootloader I am fine there)
Thanks for Anwsering and Best Regards

You would need a fully unlocked bootloader & although most AFTV devices have been rooted at different FW version. Only some first year FTV1's with early FW where capable of being Fully bootloader unlocked. I am lucky enough to own 4 of them.
There have been multiple new methods to root AFTV(S)'s. But no new methods of unlocking their bootloaders. So for now changing the OS on AFTV(S)'s is not going to happen.

Although there is no way to replace the FireOS. If you have a rooted FTV1 & eventually other rooted FTV devices. You will be able to change the UI. Just keep an eye on this project.

It should make your FTV function as close to an AndroidTV device as possible.
Y314K I was just given a Fire TV box 1st gen and was able to root and fully unlock the bootloader. I have TWRP installed, and since I'm just using this box for exploring alterations I was wondering if it is possible to completely replace the fire os with a pure android os? I'm having trouble finding tutorials and wondered if you could tell me if it is possible and if you know of any resources of tutorials? What do you run on your FTV 1 boxes? Any other suggestions for tinkering?

The above is still the closest option so far. There where a couple of projects a few years ago which you can find here on XDA where developers started to make a Cyanogen 12 & other FW options for FTV1's with unlocked bootloader. But development faded once only a small percentage of FTV1's where capable of having their bootloaders unlocked. And none of the other devices have that capability.
Most mods now are just launcher changes & Amazon service deactivation for a leaner FireOS. But every option still has FireOS as it's base. The AFTV2ATV project does the most changes over all.
You can find the old projects under both development sections.

Anything that could be run on a FTV2 can also be ported or modded for a FTV1.
Hello, i havent found a similiar thread so...
We bought an Opel Adam Rocks (2014) in which there is the really nice Intellilink System. Its said it will connect with all newer Android phones that installed Android Auto, but when i plug it via USB (tried different cables already) it says "Unknown/unsupported device detected".
My phone: Oppo Find 7 is ROOTED, on latest OmniROM which is of course Android 6.XXX + Android Auto App
My question: is it GENERALLY impossible to connect rooted/Custom ROM phones to it? is there anyone that was successful?
Its not a disaster since we didn't see it as important but it surely would be nice!
Thanks.

I have similar problem at the moment with Huawei Mate 9 and intellilink R4.0 (both new). I am waiting for new firmware and will contact Opel dealer for update.
I have read different forums that different firmware on phone acts different as well as software on head unit sometimes makes problems.
Generally I have read that also some custom roms work and some don´t.
Also there have been several updates for the intellilink systems since 2014. This will cost some € at Opel Dealer. It is not for sure this helps! Maybe it is waste of money.
In this case it is google bringing the disaster... The app brings no information what is going wrong...
i'm thinking about an update for the Intellilink, indeed... and... at least its good to hear that custom ROMs CAN work, so there is still chance. thanks for the info!
Hi peeps. I know this has probably been answered a few times but I'm still trying to get my head around all the models and firmware versions. What does what etc
Ive just got mine 5 weeks ago. It's running on V8-R851T02-LF1V307.013836 I'm guessing that's version 307? I have seen newer versions but nothing official. The firmware on this is awful. Kicks me out of apps. Won't load some apps. Laggy. So let down by this. Any news on Android 10 or any updates I can do to make it better
Thanks
I've just been on their website went to downloads software and the version it said was the latest was v363 so why won't my TV update to the latest version. Is there a way I can install from TV memory not a usb flash drive. I haven't got 1 to hand
You can try to put it in the root of internal storage and see what happens after local update or boot update (depends on .zip or .img)

Where have you found the latest firmware? Can you share the link?
EDIT: Nevermind, I found it already.
Hi, from where did you find the software update v363 to download? Could you please share the link.

Here are all found firmware versions.
I recommend everyone to flash 379. For me its the best firmware so far. System is very fast, HDR is finally OK, before this only mode that hdr was watchable was PC, in all others colours and faces were blown and washed. Now i can happily watch HDR content on Standart, dynamic, smart hdr or any other mode, depends on taste. Also, IPTV apps are working perfect. Before this i would get deinterlacing or decoding issues with some HD channels, only mx player would be able to play those. Now its perfect, every single channel works as it should. This TV now performs better than my old Mi box 3, i didnt really expect that when buying. I dont use netflix, so cant comment on that, but i do use Amazon Prime, and it is working well. Audio and subtitles are in sync, i get no freezes or such.
V378 is now available on the official website. I just flashed it via USB. The automatic update does not seem to work.
Can you share me the link where I can download the latest version?
Hi.
I only find V378, where did you find V379?
Thanks.

Hi Guys. I need some help with my F41.
I have two cellphones. A F41 with magisk root and Xiaomi Mi A3 without root.
I bought a sansung tv and I was trying to use the app called "Smart Things" to connect the TV to the smartphone.
The problem is: Xiaomi Mi A3 see the app on play store but F41 dont.
Investigating a little bit about the problem, I saw a lot of users suggesting a lot of thing like clear cache, register my google account again, update my playstore and/or my android.... But nothing works.
Here is the deal: i dont let my android update, at all. I dont like updates. They just slows the cellphone and consume a lot of battery.
After a while, comparing the issue with other issues i Had with Aptoide and APKpure for the last years I realized that the problem is: some apps updates are modifiing by its developers to not work on old versions of android and I realy think this is the problem here.
So, in order to solve the problem I have to update my android. But I Reeeeeeally dont want to do that.
So the question is: is there any way of bypass the version cheking sistem of apps? Or there is a way of solving this problem without updating my android version?
Android Version: 11
One UI Core version: 3.1
Model: Galaxy F41 (SM-F415F)
Thaks a lot.
Hello there,
I have a TV from 2017 I think (Phillips 43PFG5501/77) which comes with Android 5.1 aparently, and I am wondering if its possible to install the Android TV 13 OS on this device.
I think this TV comes with Android TV with a layer of personalization from Phillips. What can happend if I try to flash this device?
Since I am having many problems with Cast to TV, I thought about installing a more generic version of Android TV...
Is it possible to do this?
Hi,
there is no "alternative version" for TVs ... so you cannot install a different software than Philips own ATV...
But you can connect a HDMI device with a more recent ATV version.
[email protected]
i mean, you have chance....
1st. you need root permissions
2nd. copy from your TV all native (Philips) apk
3rd. i never seen custom rom for Philips andorid TV, you chance is your own Android build for your TV...here try this "walkthrought" https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-how-to-create-your-own-custom-rom-an-easy-way.2195858/
4th. good luck

Are you leaving in clouds ?
I? ...no...maybe user MNRP90 when he wants android 13 in a device with android tv 5. I wrote general solution (without writing driver modules builded to kernel, dvb-api...etc), it isn´t easy solution, but not unreal. I don´t know dev skills of MNRP90...if you know an easier solution, publish it and stop hating me ;-)
