Hello,
I'm looking to understand if there's any ways to modify/jailbreak or tweak the uConnect system to support CarPlay? The current OEM head unit doesn't have CarPlay...and I'm not certain if it's locked or if the feature doesn't even exist with this specific system. I know the head unit has GPS but only works if you go to a dealership and have them activate it after paying a stupidass fee.
System software version is 17.11.17
Is this possible?

I'm currently working with a software developer who produces an OBD2 reader and the associated app (Hondash). The device and app work perfectly on conventional Android devices, but not our awkward headunits. The OBD2 device connects and pairs to the headunit, however the app cannot detect it. It seems that the headunit's Bluetooth hardware is not visible to the app. The developer says he "don't know how or why the system doesn't deliver a Bluetooth device list to my app when requested". He goes on to say "For some reason the head unit doesn't expose a device list to my app, and without it it's blind and not able to initiate a connection"
My understanding is that the Bluetooth hardware is handled by the MCU part of the software, rather than Android itself.
Does anyone know of a way to convince the system to expose the Bluetooth device list? Or has anyone got access to the programming documentation for the head unit Bluetooth API?
What is puzzling here is that apparently Torque works on our headunits. Torque is compatible with our Bluetooth so it does seem possible. I assume that Torque isn't the only OBD2 reader app that is compatible, there's probably other too, so any tips on how he could get his app to work would be appreciated.
I have a 2017 Honda Accord Sport SE, with only the single display system that handles bluetooth and streaming etc.
Ever since somewhere around the May or June Oreo update and including the new Pie first production release, the car has been unable to transfer contacts from the Pixel XL to the car system.
I've played around with the AVCP setting, but that does not help. Briefly on the last version of Oreo, I was able to use the app "Bluetooth PhoneBook" to alter the phones PBAP so that my contacts were appearing in the car, but the first Pie version is now incompatible with "Bluetooth PhoneBook", so I cannot get contacts into the car system, and therefore cannot use voice dial with the phone. So I disable the bluetooth in the car and have to use my Plantronics bluetooth earpiece to make calls via bluetooth. The author of the app at http://www.android-rsap.com/bluetooth-phonebook/38-aktuelle-nachrichten/143-phonebook-app-and-android-8-oreo.html, mentions:
Google once again changed the internals of the Android Bluetooth stack, and guess what: it breaks my phonebook app. It is no longer able to properly stop the built-in phonebook service.
Today I found out that the latest Android source contains a change which once again enables my app. I don't have an idea when that change will be published in an official release or if there may be new Android 8 firmwares in the future which don't contain that fix. Simply check if your car connects to my app, if not you'll probably have to wait for the next firmware update.
And these problems all happen only because Google refuses to add a proper Bluetooth SDP API to the Android SDK. So they work their way from hack to hack. Sad...

Can anyone explain to me how the Bluetooth PBAP works an if this is an issue with the car manufacturer's implementation or Google's fault.
Unfortunately, Honda being a car manufacturer is not very interested in keeping firmware in its cars up to date, at least as far as phone functionality.
The 2018 Honda's allow firmware updates easily, so I imagine this is going to be less of a problem for 2018 and newer models.
Hi
I am looking to buy a new ford fiesta model which does not have Navigation built in but supports Carplay and Android Auto
Will Carplay / android auto use my phone as the GPS receiver?
Yes, these systems use your devices GPS.
these systems use your devices GPS.
I just got a Hyundai I20 2019 car
It came with the connect car stereo unit
And some default apps
I was wondering if there is a way to hack in some way to install other apps like YouTube or Spotify
And even better if there is a way to get a CarPlay functionality working
It’s a android 5.1.1 model mgcol2 system with a 3.10.49 kernel
^up that
It's possible to add any apps in Hyundai connected car facility.
It's easy to hack TATA car easily as IRA app used in the car lacks in security
Bought a 2016 Fiat 500, but discovered that there is no Android Auto on the Uconnect system. Is there a way to add it and/or upgrade to a newer Uconnect version that supports Android auto? Called Fiat, but they say if it is not showing up, it is not there/possible.
Can be enabled only on Uconnect with navigation option

I have a 8.4 uconnect with navigation in my 2016 Chrysler 300, but it's running the newest stock firmware. Can I still somehow enable Android auto?
