Rediscovered nexus 7 - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

I found my old nexus 7 in a cupboard a few weeks ago, the usb charging port wasnt in good shape but i managed to get twrp and DotOS android 9 installed via adb before the port finally stopped working. I dont use any gapps. Luckily i am able to charge the nexus wirelessly.
I don't want to repartition the system partition in case i can't install a new rom etc. Are there other android 9 roms that install on the small system partition size? Or is it possible to repartition and install android 10 roms without a usb cord?

buy a cheap sd card, load these zips onto the sd card using another phone
repartition:
TOOLS - Google Drive
rom choose the build as follows:
Somewhere In the lineage os zip file name
flo = Nexus 7 2013 Wifi
deb = Nexus 7 2013 LTE)
[ROM][flo|deb][UNOFFICIAL][LineageOS 20.0]
LineageOS 20.0 lineage-20.0-20230507-UNOFFICIAL-flo.zip lineage-20.0-20230507-UNOFFICIAL-deb.zip Known issues: - We are still Permissive (SELinux) - Encryption is not working .. Pls do NOT encrypt your /data partition! - Camera is not fully...

twrp factory reset, put in sd card and flash repartition, after that flash rom zip
and boom you have android 12L, use android 12L gapps, you guessed it also load on sd card and flash after flashing repartition and rom.

oh sorry didnt dig into the google searches much.
as repartition will wipe everything on the device, it will be impossible to transfer the rom to the tablet afterwards and so you can not flash the rom, bricking the device.
so well just forget android 10 and other stuff. it is impossible, treat it as no other roms than android 9 had been developed for the device.
you can install google apps from this

Install Google apps on Xiaomi devices

TWRP stuck on booting - because sd card

Hello everyone,
the following happend:
everything was ok
bought a sdcard, inserted and cm ask how i want to use it, i selected: use as internal memory (cm moved 17 gb to it)
want to boot to twrp, and get stuck at twrp logo, every time i try
removed sdcard and retry.... it works
My stats:
Device: d855
OS: CM13 (A6.0.1)
Default Kernel
TWRP: 3.0.0
SD Card: Samsung 64gb
What i tried:
reflash twrp (not solved the problem)
boot to twrp without sd, then inserted sd, and tried to mount .... cannot mount :/
somebody has an idea ?
It because using SD card as internal storage is broke. Most custom ROMs have a lot of issues with it and in stock Android it has issues as well. This is why LG and Samsung have it disabled. I would recommend you use it a external storage.

Ok thx, to make it work again I have to factory reset & clean install rom, right?

You should be able to format it in settings under storage.
Do a clean install will not reformat the SD card.
A clean install wouldn't hurt after you format the SD card.

Install Custom Rom WITHOUT Sd-Card possible?

Hey guys
yesterday i bought the Samsung Tab 3 10.1 P5200 for a few bucks. the performance was really bad and the battery jumped to zero in a second. so i flashed the TWRP 3.0.2 "Santos" Recovery via Odin and started the recovery after this. but there is the problem, i can only install roms cia an external SD CARD. there is no internal option in the TWRP.
is there a possibility to instal the CM 13.0 Rom, Houdini and gApps without a SD Card? could you tell me how?
Thanks a lot

In TWRP, go to Mount and try to mount "data". Also, go in Advanced and copy the Log to SD Card (Actually it will copy it on /sdcard) and send the log here.

Can't install any Customs Roms - Error 255 in TWRP

Any ideas? I've tried TWRP 3.1.1.0 and 3.2.1.0 but it just reports back "updater process ended with error 255" and terminates?
Please help.

You are using the 32bit twrp to try and install a 64bit rom
My official twrp does not support 64bit roms - if you read the faqs in my twrp thread you would know this
Read the instructions in the 64bit rom thread & use the unofficial 64bit twrp
https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=236353
Note - I do not support the unofficial 64bit twrp as I did not build it

Select internal storage and it will show all folders in internal memory.
Thanks.
I did that. I see the root folders but nothing in internal storage. And the size of internal storage shows as 0MB
See attachement
Thanks

Select storage folder
Select something like emulated then 0
If you don't see emulated than 0 or the folder is empty then internal storage isn't mounted - check the mount section of twrp or try using a different twrp
To check external storage it's the same as above but you select emulated then the folder with the sdcard hex value as its name which is different with every sdcard

Unfortunately no luck. I cant see anything in the storage folder.
I have tried to mount internal storage also with no luck. Internal storage shows as 0MB
I have tried all 64 bit versions of twrp from the link in this post (https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=236353)

Looking at your phone it doesn't look like a moto g5
It looks more like a g5 plus or g5s
What is your device xt name eg xt1676 - if it's not a moto g5 codename cedric you are in the wrong device forum and using the wrong twrp

Yes it is a G5. Here's a photo from bootloader
FYI... when i flash 32bit TWRP i can see internal storage. But, of course, i cant flash custom roms from there because they are 64bit. Tried with lineage and Res remix. Error255 results

Try this twrp
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1MLlljM7BzMj9Da57LeyBHyg81cHdW1cB
If you can't mount internal storage your only option might be to format it
This will delete everything in the internal user data - pictures music documents etc - backup first!
Wipe - format data (option on the right)
Restart back to recovery
If it's not mountable wipe advanced wipe data and internal storage
Note if you didn't decrypt data (if asked) when launching twrp you need to format data anyway to remove encryption in order to be able to mount it
Also some 64bit twrp don't support encryption so it might not even ask for decrypt - the one I posted above should support encryption but you still need to format data if flashing a new rom

Thanks, those steps worked.
Interesting on first install i didnt get a question about decrypting.
After reformat the only folder i saw in /sdcard was TWRP. So i dropped the rom and gapps zips in there. No problem flashing from there
Thanks for the help

Unless you set a lock screen pin and enabled encryption you won't
64bit twrp has encryption issues - I think the one I provided allows you to decrypt data on 64bit roms if you do encrypt it (depending on rom)
I don't have this device anymore so I only built the 32bit official twrp when I had it
Also you won't have any other files/folder in internal storage until you boot android for the first time which is why you only had the twrp folder there

You device is encrypted, so you need to format the device to gain access to the internal storage, so format the device.
Format<format<yes.
Take a back up of internal storage, so you don't lose Data.
Hello.

Yup... I did it and worked...Thanks....
If the ROM file name is too large like "PixelExperience_Plus_whyred-10.0-20200418-1019-OFFICIAL.zip", just rename it to a shorter one like "pe.zip" otherwise it might not get detected and will show something like "USB-OTG(0MB)/SD Card(0MB)....just an info i noted...

Can't see internal storage in recovery

Hello,
I've installed orangefox recovery on my Redmi 7 and using that installed lineageos 19.1 ROM. But while I'm trying to flash some other files in internal storage, I can see only some long random named folders, not the original folders or files. But that file, copied to SD card can be seen in recovery. What kind of problem is that. Can anyone help?
You might've already knew the answer.
It has something to do with the encryption and you're probably using a custom recovery that doesn't support Android 12 sutom ROMs. Afaik, Orangefox for onclite has been discontinued since last year and TWRP doesn't have one yet.
