Question Hide Root Question - Google Pixel 6 Pro

I am sure this is a stupid question. I have never needed to hide root but it seems more and more apps are blocking me from using there app becouse I am rooted. Is there a way to hide root from thouse apps?
Thanks all!

In older version of Magisk was something called Magisk Hide. There you could hide root access per application.

In newer versions of magisk there is a setting called Zygisk. After activating that you can configure a DenyList (found under the Zygisk toggle). You can select the apps you want to hide root from there. If an app still detects root there are 2 things that always help me.
1. Activate the setting 'Enforce DenyList'
2. Uninstall the Magisk Manager when you don't need to tweak any settings

The proper method these days is to use the Shamiko module and not enable the deny list after enabling zygisk. You can select the apps you want in the list for Shamiko to hide but don't enable the list.
The built-in deny list doesn't work the way you'd expect and it doesn't replace Magisk Hide.

Totally that. You can get Shamiko through Telegram f.e.
Works near perfectly on all the apps I've tried.

DenylistUnmount works on the same principle as Shamiko but is open sourced.

Thanks All That was what I needed!!

The deny list does work in at least some cases (like on my bank's software), so in my opinion, its worth giving it a shot and then only pulling out the big guns if its actually needed.

Hi sunflower123. Besides @WhiteReign already having solved their issue, I doubt if VMOS-Virtual Android on Android or VMOS PRO - Apps on Google Play are what @WhiteReign had in mind, and SuperSU hasn't been updated (nor trustworthy) in years.

It will work with systemless root, and i even have SuperSU turned on, and can still make purchases (though usually it's off anyway)
What it doesn't work with is Xposed Framework. To use xposed, you need to install xposed systemless, and then turn it off and reboot before android pay will work.

[SOLVED] Android Pay
Okay guys I've solved it.
Open "SuperSU" > Settings > Untick Enable Superuser to disable it.
If you have Xposed installed then you need to uninstall it with the uninstaller file XDA Xposed Page Here restart your phone and then Android Pay will work (Well it did for me) then you can enable them after and the Android Pay will work.

And then uses system less root and Android pay will continue to work using it right now
I have S6 that's running custom ROM & Android Pay works.
It's rooted SuperSU system mode
It has Xposed running
I didn't have to turn off SuperSU nor uninstall xposed to get Android Pay to work.
Having used Android Pay since its launch in the UK, I find it very useful & would miss it now.
I'm surprised it works. I was reading about Android pay and systemless root in preparation for my new OP3 next week, and articles go back to January (such as this - http://www.androidpolice.com/2016/0...emless-root-android-pay-no-longer-compatible/) when Google caught on to the new systemless root and then disabled Android Pay on them.

That was true. Not sure what changed, or if it is the OP3 but systemless root works fine in the UK with pay, with SuperSU turned on! Passes the safety net test you can download from the play store too. Xposed still breaks it but I have a systemless version of that so I can just toggle and reboot.

Apps Think OPO 5T is Rooted?

I'm trying to run a couple of apps, namely 'My EE' and 'Sky Q' however both these apps must do some sort of root check which my device seems to fail. I haven't done anything with my 5T other than configure it straight out the box. Does anyone else have this issue?
Based in the UK using EE.
so what's wrong with you, go and get root, now anybody can use their phone without it.

Have you tried using an app that checks safetynet? Does it pass? Magisk manager can check safetynet for you (just the app, not the root zip) and you can install it without rooting.

Safety net is Google's most thorough root checker, so if it passes it's probably not an issue with root.
What problem are you having? Does the app launch? Does it tell you you're rooted? Have you adjusted the display size (dpi)? Have you granted it the permissions it needs before launching?

The app launches however the EE app errors straight away saying it looks like my device is rooted.
The Sky Q app let's me browse TV guide and set remote recordings however if I attempt to watch live TV then it tells me I'm unable to do that on rooted devices.
I'm not sure how to adjust dpi? All permissions if any have been granted.

You are a star. SuperSU uninstalled and now they're working.

is there an app to track why an app fails.

I need to use an app over GSM data. It works on WiFi but not GSM.
A colleague uses the same app on a different device and this works on GSM.
Is there a way to trace what fails so can try and resolve it.?

Try root via magisk, and use the integrated MagiskHide. It works well covering root to my banking apps.
Or if by "works over wifi but fail over mobile" you mean the network connection, I suggest using ssl capture. No root, it just use VPN.

New OP 7T owner here, can't disable heads-up notifications. ADB shell?

Hi there, new 7T owner here. I am loving the device so far, but I cannot seem to disable heads-up notifications for telegram.
I go into the notification settings, and make sure it's disabled for each group, but they still happen without fail.
Can I use the adb shell command "adb shell settings put global heads_up_notifications_enabled 0" to disable them permanently?
How is that done on this phone?
I use Tasker to modify a global custom setting called "heads_up_notifications_enabled"
Set it to 0.

The gms services used to flag magisk earlier not the gpay app, topjohnwu found a workaround and its working like a charm now. All you need to do is enable magisk hide(disabled by default on v20.4), hide the magisk manager, gpay and et viola.
I will try this, thanks for the help. Heads-up notifications are driving me bonkers.

Amazon Fire TV 2 (sloane) - Fix SuperSU crashing issue

Note: Systemless root is not an option on this box due to locked bootloader, do not tell me that root is not an option, because I am rooted right now.
I rooted my Fire TV 2 (FireOS 5.2.7.1) with the hardware method using SuperSU in system mode, although whenever I open SuperSU it immediately crashes. It still comes up with root prompts and I can still accept them, but I can't actually open the app and change settings because it just instantly crashes. Is there a fix for this?
If there isn't a fix for this issue, are there any other SYSTEM MODE superusers that do the same thing as SuperSU.
(Magisk is systemless root, so it doesn't meet the criteria above.)
It's just what amaz. does with apps they don't like^^
But you can edit the supersu config file if you like, in order to access all supersu settings...
The fix is to flash the amonet zip with twrp (aka. unlock the BL), then use magisk... but I guess you know that already, isn't it!?

So an Amazon service force closes the package name eu.chainfire.supersu in an attempt to make root Unusable? If that's the case Couldn't I just edit the package name to something else, like what I did with FireStarter Launcher?

Well unless Magisk Devs release a System mode Root that can't happen, for reasons I stated above:
"Systemless root is not an option on this box due to locked bootloader"
Having TWRP doesn't mean it's an unlocked bootloader, I know because I recently tried Magisk out of desperation, the result was that It ended up being stuck on the Amazon Logo and I had to do the unbrick process again.

No, it isn't the package name. Most likely it's because an incompatible app theme (missing theme on all fireTV OS versions). If you want to know details, somewhere on xda is a guide, on how to use root/xposed together with xposed modules, as a workarround in order to open up the supersu app on fireTVs. A working theme was material dark, if I remember correct.
Idk why you state magisk isn't an option on 'this' box, since the BL unlock is out and really easy.
Anyway, have fun.

He never said or implied having twrp means you have a unlocked bl.
He (as well as I) are wondering why you haven't simply flashed Rortiz2 amonet zip (the unlock) from within your current locked twrp.
This will ultimately unlock the bl of your Sloane.
And solve your issue in minutes + enable you to flash magisk etc.

WAIT....
I can unlock the bootloader of my AFTV 2 box- sloane?
Last year i did hardware method to get root/twrp because i was under the impression that one CAN NOT unlock bootloader on this device....
If you can now unlock bootloader on sloane box, when did this happen?
When was this "Rortiz2 amonet" released?
Lastly, since im already rooted and twrp, what do i further need to do to unlock the bootloader?
Thanks many

Yes you can, the boys have presented the full unlock of the Sloane Firetv 2 and Rortiz2 has headlined the thread in "Original Android TV development" section within the Amazon Firetv forum.
All you need to do is follow the OP there, download and flash the zip in current twrp.
If you need any assistance just ask.

I was told that you have to update to the latest version of FireOS and those versions are extremely broken. I can't use that unlock method unless someone finds a way to do it without updating to the latest firmware.
