Question With latest update, has battery usage gone up noticeably ? - Google Pixel 6 Pro

Yes for me and I think it's the cell connect struggling.

That would explain increased battery usage.
Try doing a network reset if you haven't already.
Have your cell provider do a network reset on their side too.

I run Samsung's. It's found buried in settings there. Not sure about that device. Look around.

Calling all gurus !
I am rooted so what is the simplest and best battery app ?

I did the cell phone reset. I am on Google Fi ( cheapest ) service. I am retired and watching my nickels and dimes.
.
I got to wait a day to see if it'll do any good. And get a battery app...

same, I would say battery life is down 25% from before the last update. I am on Kirisakura 3.0.1 Kernel, was awesome before

Same, going back to 12

If you mean with the June update then no, my battery life is improved which i put down to:
Battery & Power
General improvements for idle power consumption under certain conditions (A-205165830, A-224923101) *[2].
Just to add my local cell tower was temporary and has been removed so I'm connecting to a cell much further away on band 20. They have built a new permanent cell but it isn't getting switched on until 700MHz becomes available later this month when they turn off Com 7 for digital TV.

FWIW
Since day-one, I have been flashing the new versions as they arrive -even trying a few beta versions. Over the last 6 months battery life has decreased significantly for me.
Then, last week through stupidity and inattention, I accidentally wiped my phone when updating to the new June release. UGGH. Everything was backed up, however, and it was a pain in the A, but now that everything has been reinstalled and I have re-rooted, my battery life is AMAZING!.
I am not recommending this per se and YMMV but I am not regretting my mistake.
I am also using AccA for charging control to keep my battery charge to 85%

Noticeably worse on June update compared to May.

Just to add my Mobile Network use has dropped to between 9 and 17% now where it always hovered around 30% previously with a high of 56%. I still think that is a red herring though and something else was causing it to be that high and not necessarily the "mobile network" its self.

I am running out of juice every other day now I am Google-Fi.
The battery life of this phone sucks. The phone is poorly optimized and even with its large battery, it cannot make it through the day with moderate use. I am sick of hearing lame excuses.

Battery is fine for me better than before but the reception of this phone sucks

Since the update I have an better batterylife. Yesterday 4 Hours SOD and at midnight 56 %. Its enough for me.

Reporting back. I am back to getting almost 5 days of battery like. What the heck. So, the act of installing the battery monitor program - kicked 'something' internal to the phone. So there was a pig and my guess is that it had something to do with the cell tower . . . Thank you for your input. It is a nice community.

Mine's never been good and it's not any better now

Battery Life dreadful after ITL41F

Hi Everyone,
I was wondering whether anybody else has experienced this side effect of the ITL41F update? My battery life has been really really good, much better than that of my HD7. I was really chuffed with it. Along comes the ITL41F update, and since then the battery will drain itself on standby. Nothing has changed on my phone. I have not installed any new apps or made any settings changes (such as sync frequency, etc). So the only difference is the ITL41F update.
To give you an idea, If I charge the phone in the late afternoon, and then pretty much leave it alone, by the morning it will have gone down to 15% battery or less. This morning I plugged it in again, and now it's down to 50%. And I only sent a single txt message and didn't do anything else on the phone. This is properly rubbish.
Anybody know where I can report this bug to Google/Samsung?

You have a lot of awake time without your screen been on which seems a little strange.

I would say your mobile signal is using up a lot battery. when it is yellow that means its weak, and grey means no signal. Since this is the main 2 colours on your chart I would say this would be the main reason for your battery drain

Are you seriously asking that question?
You improve your mobile signal but getting your network provider to install another mast, or switch to a different network with better coverage in your area.
If you could improve signal with APN settings or flashing a different radio it would be done like that from the factory!
WEll, I have a LG Optimus One and use franco kernel with it, and am soon buying a GN because he develops for it too, SO:
FLASH FRANCO KERNEL!
DOnate him a beer before and ten after the WOW-experience you'll get when you realise 4 days later that your battery is only 10% becuase of the popup.
And now read my words again.
It's the best option!
Your phone was awake for more than 50% of the time. If you really didn't use it, there's most likely a rogue app which is preventing phone from going into deep sleep.
Use an app like System panel to locate the culprit.
nevermind - delete me
Thanks for the fast replies guys, it's much appreciated! =)
What I find puzzling is that absolutely NOTHING has changed on the phone, apart from the update. So if there was a rogue app that was consuming the battery, it should have exhibited that behaviour before the update, right?
I will check with system monitor though, to see if I can spot something. The strange thing I noticed is that the OS is consuming *more* battery than most other functions. Even on standby.... weird!
After finally getting the patch I can't say the battery has been worse. In fact it seems to be better. Although I think that is down to the fact I've been through a few charge cycles now.
click on android OS, and check out the awake and CPU times. The cpu time should be a fractions of the time awake.
example, my phone has been on this charge for 22 hours (still 36% battery left.. didn't use it too much this charge). the leading battery drain is screen at 51% (2.5 hours awake time), and the 2nd leading item is Android OS which has the following:
CPU Total - 18m 53s
Keep Awake - 4h 46m 9s
I'm just curious on why your CPU total was in relation to the awake time by Android OS.
Mines great.

its funny how many similar theads appear everytime a phone gets updated. And most of them all go down to user error.
Just saying. my Gnex is fine after 11F update, OP should probably do a wipe
Guys, I'm not ruling out 'user error', but at this moment in time I cannot see what I could have possibly done to cause it. I have purchased System Panel on the Market and I'm running it in monitoring mode to see if it can shed some light on the issue. Strangely, 'Cut the Rope' and 'Exchange' are running constantly and as a service. Not necessarily consuming CPU while the phone is asleep though. Just though it would be strange for a game to be running as a service? Must be a reason for it....
Ask the developper of "Cut the Rope" why does it need to run that way. Exchange is run as a service because you probably need it.
Anyways, you can try a clean flash with stock ITL41F. But i'd say apps are to blame

[Q] Wifi Not Sleeping

I posted in the wrong thread earlier but here's the situation. No matter what rom I run, wifi won't sleep. Optimizer is off and wifi on during sleep is set to "only when plugged in". I've rebooted the phone and will post back to see if that fixed the problem. Just wanted to make sure that I should see the wifi sleep when the phone sleeps, correct?
Now that I'm thinking about it, maybe I should be asking this question. What drains more power, wifi always on or a phone trying to stay connected to a very weak 3g signal?
Reboot didn't solve the problem. Maybe its a reporting issue. I didn't hear any notifications and when I woke the phone it messaged that it connected to my network. Dunno!!

I know my WiFi takes a few minutes to actually turn off after the system goes to sleep. To me it seems as if there's some timeout where it waits x amount of minutes after the last data access before it turns off? But that being said... it does look like your system is waking up an awful lot even when the screen is off. I might venture a guess that you've got some app that is keeping the system awake and in turn holding open the WiFi connection.

And a weak 3G signal will drain battery A LOT faster than wifi because the phone keeps searching for new towers where it can get a better signal from.

Listen to this man, he knows what he's talking about.
I hang out with friends every Thursday night down in Long Beach. The friend's house we go to has horrible 3G reception. I never connected to his Wifi and always lost 40-50% of my battery in the two hours that I was at his place (without even taking my phone out of my pocket). My phone would be hot and I'd be losing power faster than Apollo 13 (too soon?). Once I started connecting to his wifi, I'd see a drain of 5-10% in those same 2-3 hours. No more burning pant pockets, either.
That being said, I don't think it's the wifi that's causing your battery drain. Looking at your battery screen, something is keeping your phone awake most of the time. Also, as suggested previously, Better Battery Stats is a great program that can help you see what's causing Kernel Wakelocks and Partial Wakelocks. Once you find out what's causing this (typically some sort of data sync or gps services), you can make the choice of that app or battery life. It's made a whole lot of difference on my battery life. Note: Better Battery Stats won't fix the problem for you; it's just a tool to help you find the problem so you can fix it yourself. Don't expect it to make julienne fries or cure your sepsis. That's what the Shamwow is for, of course! Ok, it's late and I'm getting goofy. I'll check in to see if anything helped.

Oh, I'm not worried about the drain...I was using the phone heavy in the above screen shot. I'm worried the phone is defective if the wifi won't sleep at all when the correct settings are chosen. It should sleep, and if it doesn't, then in my mind the phone is broken. It's a six or 7 day old phone...it should be flawless. Right? But, per all your info, it appears it's only a cosmetic "broken" phone. My wifi will be on when at home 100% of the time because Sprint's signal sucks ass here. Either way, thanks for all the info everyone.

May I ask why you suspect a drain, like how long does it last and also what's wrong with the built-in bat-stat?
My biggest recommendation is to avoid DL'n every single app and keep it to a minimum.
Mine last roughly 2days with a screen time of 3-4h without charging (was away a weekend recently and took my chances and left the charger at home, used the camera alot incl. 4k shooting and alot of music videos playing and made all the way home with 1 percent )
Best phone in terms of battery I've come across yet.
on the stock rom and kernel?
Hello, what's your android version and firmware build number? I would like to use it because i'm on 4.4.4 build 14.4.A.0.108 and I'm experiencing fast battery drain.

Changing ROM will not help in most cases if you won't discover what is eating battery.
I am on the same above ROM and kernel and I don't complain.
Term 'fast' is not much precise, either.
BTW:
1.3%/h is pretty reasonable if phone was in use from time to time.
Base rule with BBS is to check batery over night, when it is not used at all.
Under those circumstances you should see 0.1-03%/h and that is completely fine.

i dont think using wifi and auto sync will drain my battery from 60% to 6% in just a second. Anyway, i ordered a replacement battery from witrigs. Hope this fixes my problem. Ive tried factory resets and repair through pc companion. still no improvement. Turning stamina mode improves my battery. It no longer drops 50% in a second, just 10%. Still way too low compared to my excellent battery life with kitkat. Before lollipop, i charge my phone every 2 days with heavy use. Now, i need to charge it twice a day with moderate use.

If so - I'd come back to KK before replacing battery, if for no other reason then to prove LP is guilty.
BTW:
Long ago I decided not to upgrade to LP.
Looks like evey step ahead is in real life step back.
Everything is more complicated, wants more maintenance, yet works worse than old simple tools.

4.4.2 to 4.4.4 battery consumption

I have an unrooted M919 which is running 4.4.2 (FNB4). Problem I have is when LTE is on, and I have about 2 bars signal in my room, the battery drains quicker than when the phone is only on H+ /WCDMA.
My question, will the 4.4.4 firmware improve my battery comsumption?
Thanks
In general LTE is known to consume a lot of battery I recommend u stick to H+/WCDMA it what I do .
I doubt the new firmware will have any battery improvement
LTE alone is a battery drainer
LTE is not that bad a drainer, its low reception that will consume a lot of power. The update may not help much, but doesn't hurt to try
I have already packed my M919. I will return it... it makes no sense keeping it it I still have to disable LTE... I will just keep my stellar i9505
The reason I bought the M919 is to have LTE, but I never expected it to suck my battery that fast. I went out with the family to do some shopping this afternoon, from 4pm with 75% battery ( I have rebooted the phone, and greenified everything I can), then after dinner at 8pm, I had 35% left on the battery.
Unless you were actively using it the whole time there is no way it should drain that fast. Did you check battery stats? I wouldn't give up that fast but it's up to you

That kind of drain is not caused by LTE.
+1. Even in marginal signal areas where it is spending lots of energy hunting for signal, it should not drain that fast.
Definitely investigate what is causing power drain. At that rate, it's not LTE or "hunting for LTE" that is causing it.
LOL.. I hate you guys... I will have to unpack the phone and start again then....
But seriously, I have used all Samsung phones... look at my signature LOL... I have never had this kind of battery drain... but I will give it another try, but I am not optimistic because I have reflashed the firmware twice, and have reset the device about 4x already with the same issue...

Yes I use that, and I don't see anything running wild... I am flashing NH7 now....
What about the stock battery stats? And also do you have Google now disabled?
These are what I habitually disable:
(I am surprized, "SNS" which is related to facebook and twitter is not on the NH7)
I don't have facebook, twitter and other social media apps installed....
The 4G signal you see in my screenshots is because I only used WCDMA connection at that time.

Just an update, I went out this morning for about 2 hrs. Only time I used the phone was when I received a call which lasted about a minute, used the calculator once for less than 30 seconds, and the only times the screen was on was whenever I checked is if I have LTE signal...
I notice, the "Wifi" is "On" but I am sure I have turned it off. "Wifi calling" is also disabled in case you ask...
Go into WiFi, settings, advanced, and disable always scanning. I forgot about this one, it is a battery drainer for sure. You should get much better battery now

Good diagnostics ongoing! :good:
One other thought: perhaps the battery itself is not up to spec, and so "30%" of your battery isn't the same number of milliAmperes-hours it should be.

The battery meter isn't that accurate, its just an estimation based on the battery voltage versus how you use your phone (and the resulting "typical" battery drain). You shouldn't expect it to be accurate to the being within the 1-2 (or even 5) percent range. Shutting off at 4 to 11% is not unusual, and not surprising.
You shouldn't be draining your battery down that low on a regular basis. Its bad for long term battery life. Good rule of thumb for Li ion batteries is short and frequent charge cycles.
However, optimizing apps and/or google process stopped after a shutdown (due to low battery) is not normal. That's a different matter.
I have this problem, plus some of my settings get reset such as my wallpaper, ringtone, notification tone, boomsound (off to on), screen timeout, screen brightness, whatsapp (keeps asking me to chose my backup options and no messages come through until then). This has never happened before and I'm not sure why it's only happening now. I'm not purposely trying to drain the battery or anything, it's just that sometimes on the road I am unable to charge it and it'll just die out midway when previously, that extra 15% could've lasted me for another 30 minutes, just enough for me to reach my destination.
The same problem.. But the bigger problem for me, it's reseting my settings..
It is a terrible problem , I return to KitKat and my battery reaches 1% , and so normal ... I'll make a test with lollipop .
Yes, same problem! So glad someone made a thread for it. It's frustrating and happens literally every time.
Experienced on both the stock and a custom rom. Any one knows any fixes? Is it because of the 'battery life reduces over time' thing? My phone is 2 years old now

That seems to be a problem with all htc ones (m7, m8, m9) as they get older, dont worry its normal
ive been experiencing this for a while, clear dalvik cache and let android do the whole rebuilding thing at the start and you should be fine...as for the battery fix ive just learnt to live with it, 15% is the new 2%!!!
I'm on this problem since a lot of time, as i was one of the first in the community to report it.
Seems like an end-of-life issue for one m8 and htc one phones line.
In my case i had a camera and charge board issue too, so in rma htc changed them, and now the phone is charging and quick-charging like it must have to. But i have to be careful when near 15% of battery because using camera, flashlight or others power-expensive features instantly turns the phone off, causing a database mismatch on the next boot (for marshmallow) and consequently the loss of data.
If the instant-poweroff occurs during boot, there is a massive loss of data and a lot of force closes on the next boot.
Nothing to do here i think, sadly.
In kitkat and lollipop battery reach at 1% ...

I have a fix for this as it happened to me and I tried a battery calibration app from the app store... I thought what your thinking now but after finding bad sectors and "repairing" it did actually work
solve the problem of battery and loss of settings , change the battery of my htc, now everything is fine , 3 days that the battery is discharged properly , I hope this information will help someone.
thats kinda "cool" to see many people have same problem as i do. atleast it wont run u crazy as before
1. sometimes phone dies when battery is 15%, and sometimes it dies when around 4% 2% or even 1%
2.resetting settings after phone dies!
so is the solution, to change battery? any better way that doesnt need to spend money?

Yes I've done this a couple of weeks back. The replacement is actually less hard as it seems.
But finding an original replacement battery seems to be pretty hard - Even though the replacement I bought is HTC branded and looks genuine, I feel like it's actually draining a little faster than my old original. 12€ Ebay had too good to be true.
However the instant-shutoffs are now a thing of the past along with the database corruption, so I'm going to have to live with a little less battery life.
Or does anyone know of a provider for genuine batteries?
