1.here is your reference
I am not responsible for any damages caused to your phone if you do the wrong way !
never flash a rom not made for your phone
2.if not sure about that ROM then use Alcatel OneTouchUpgrade to flash a stock ROM from Alcatel site
you need drivers so install Android SDK and OneTouchUpgrade also take a look at this thread browse through pages for more details about installation but never flash that ROM this is for OT-908 only !
ROM for Alcatel OT-918 not OT-918N, nor OT-918D, neither OT-918M

how it failed ? did you try to flash it by recovery ? It doesn't work because recovery mode is made to flash only signed/official updates and Alcatel never released such an update do this: try again to flash and check your sdcard for .log files and post here that content I guess you get an "signature verification " error
well, you need a custom recovery to make it works ! tell me more ! what's about these models 918/918d/m/n where is the difference between them ?because if you try to download kernel sources there is only one source so these phone should be almost the same..

I was phone had Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread
This is how it started,
I rooted by phone successful and it has been working well for sometime...
I intended to install Root Call Blocker but it always told me that there is insufficient space.
I switched off and on again to recovery by Pressing the + Volume key and Power button.
This took me to recovery where I cleared,Cache,Dalvik Cache and Data.
When I rebooted it, it failed to start and just shows the Android logo and stops and it has never gone beyond there.
I have tried using the custom roms available at the link in @ alcatel918 dot weebly dot com/2-custom-recovery.html but the all install successfully but the phone fails to go beyond the logo.
That is why I am requesting anyone with such a phone running the same version to assist me with by may be backing up boot,recovery,data and cache and link up.

now I see... yes was a mistake about backup.. always make backups
well, it's dubious.. One Touch Upgrade is not working for you let me tell you: usually Alcatel give you the chance to flash again stock rom by connecting to their server by One Touch Upgrade but it seems is not working for you a chance is to send them a message but don't tell you rooted etc just say "is not working" you already know that I have an Alcatel phone too but for me there is a stock rom in zip format also One Touch Upgrade is working tell theml about that :how to recover ?
well, I perform some search and update this post ...
use this link to tell Alcatel about your problem I used it in the past and they answered me..
also do this check: power off then press Menu (big button? it seem you don't have it? well that middle button.. Home button) keep it pressed then connect to PC keep it pressed !! at this moment Windows should search for a driver then start One Touch Upgrade and try for update !
PS
I just performed some search now I can tell you for sure there is big difference between 918 and the others 918D etc (kernel sources are not the same!)

I am still searching/looking for someone having the same make so that I can safely have his/her backup.

the single way is to get a recovery backup from somewhere...

well, find a recovery backup or request help from Alcatel tell them your phone is working but you have some software problems and you think an update/ reflash should solve it so ask them how to get update because One Touch Upgrade says that phone is up-to-date
they will answer you : I used this service in the past

In fact I wonder if my alcatel si still guaranted even if I have rooted it ...
My operator can changed it next week. The phone Will be send to alcatel for a diagnostic but I dont know if they can find root or something like that. If yes i have to pay a big fine ...

I found THE solution of our problem man !!!!!
I found it !
I assume you have already Flash Tools and One Touch Upgrade 1.8.2
Step 1 : Download the file '2.3.5_Europe.zip' (file attachement)
Step 2 : Open Flash Tool
- Option --> Check USB MODE
- Option --> Backup Restore NVRAM --> Check Backup --> .....
- Scater-loading File --> "MT6573_Android_scatter.txt" (in 2.3.5_Europe)
- Click DOWNLOAD
Step 3 : Wait up to the end.
When it's finished, open One Touch Upgrade and do an Upgrade
It works very well now !!

Yes, I have an Alcatel OT 918 (without M/D/N) too and I have the same thing (2 sims and 918d).
I think we have now kernel sources for the OT 918d and we can now install custom ROM for 918d in our OT 918.
I'm not sure but I will try (If it's fail, I will do the same thing to restore it).
I think it's better to have the firmware of the 918d instead of ... nothing

I don't understand you're problem ... The files I shared work in you're phone no ?
I've put the zip files in my original OT-918 (with the manipulation described above) and I used the Alcatel One Touch Upgrade Update software.

I followed your instructions and I have a working phone though showing two SIMs.
I have a friend that is planning to acquire OT-918(without D/M/N) just like the ones we have.
I wanted so that I can use his images to restore back to my original system..

No, I have never backed up the originals three files ... I tried to install a custom ROM but I did it without thinking (it was a custom ROM of a 918 D) ...
The only way I found to have a working phone is to put in my phone the three files I posted (original files for a 918d)... And I don't know how it works but it works !
But when you're friend will have his phone, can you send these files for me please ?

using micromax a1 past 1 month and this is the only issue i have ..... randomly at times im not able to write data on micro sd card ..... means not able to store clicked pictures , delete/edit content , download content from whatsapp etc , worst part is that it happens without any warning or notification , due to which i lose many pics thinking that i have clicked them but not .... when i open quickpic ( gallery app ) it shows toast notification - "not an error (code 0): could not open the database in read/write mode" , googled the error and found that it is an issue in kitkat , btw im using everything stock ,locked bootloader , non-rooted . i didn't find any proper solution to this.
Any help ?
P.S - problem disappears after a reboot but again comes back after few hours , tried resetting sd card ..... works fine in othe mobile/PC ....

Nope, said to flash you with stock rom using sp flash tool, lollipop update will be in the last week of January

make sure you have the reuqired drivers installed, just see youtube tutorials, you will get an idea on in this A1 forum, hit thanks if i helped you
I have the exact same problems and i tried using diffrent sd cards but its no use. I know lollipop will fix this issue because google said its bringing back support for sd cards in android 5. Till then i dont know how i can fix this issue. Btw i am on ART runtime . is that causing this problem or will flashing another stock rom work ? Please help.
SD Card Issue
My friend had the same issue with his A1, and I being his "go to guy", I did factory reset, factory reset from recovery mode, installed stock rom again but none of this worked. Finally, i replaced his SD card with mine and tried to click a photo and voila it worked. So morale of the story, buy a new SD card.
I have no Idea what i did to brick the phone but it wont get past the huawei splash screen. i am a complete noob at this so please dont explain everything clearly. i do not have any custom recovery installed (i have stock Android system recovery <3e>)
EDIT:
i have also downloaded the emotionUI UPDATE.APP and put it on the sd card but when i boot up this happens;
(i havent posted enough to allow me to send links and the attachment button is broken so just remove the spaces in the link and it will work

To me it looks like you made a bad update and now you need to reflash. Now if you know which firmware was the last working one on thw phone i can make a suggestion on what to put in the sd card to flash.

This is based on my own experimentation and I do not take responsibility for KG blocked phones or any other issue related to the topic of this post.
WARNING
Your Samsung MUST be OEM unlocked and you MUST have the firmware of the same country of your SIM to avoid blocking the KG and preventing the phone from booting and using the recovery.
STEPS
1. Open ODIN
2. Put your phone in DOWNLOAD mode either by holding volume up and down while connecting the USB-C port or booting into your system then using ADB with the command

3.Select the vb meta on the AP option and flash it.
4.Before flashing have in mind that you CANNOT let the phone boot normally after flashing, so be prepared to open the recovery using volume up+power button. Either deactivate the auto reboot option in ODIN or be fast with your fingers just don't let it boot into the system as this will cause Knox to restore the stock recovery and the progress will be lost.
5. Select the TWRP on AP and flash it.
5. In TWRP go to advanced and select the file manager then access the /data/knox/ folder.
6.Delete the /data/knox/ folder.
-Format data on TWRP
-flash magisk 20.4 (optional, not tested)

Just delete the spaces between the link. They are there to not be detected as an actual link because I don't have enough posts to be let to post links but is super easy to just see the extra spaces I put and delete them.

1_ installed the latest Italian firmware
2_I made the TWRP flash that you indicated to me
3_manual restart volume + and power button and it returns to me as well as in the photo that attached. Where am I wrong ???

From what I can infer, the problem is with an unpatched vbmeta. you need to flash the vbmeta in odin as well as TWRP on AP. Again can't really post the link so delete the spaces. https:// gofile. io/d/lHAKhY . The problem in theory should be solved.
Tell me how did it go when you're done so I can update the guide. Good luck!

These are steps to take to root:
1-install latest firmware
2-flash vbmeta with odin with AP
3-flash Revanth_twrp_m31.tar with odin with AP
4-restart in twrp (no normal)
5-delete data / knox folder
6-format data
7-flash magisk 20.4
8-flash Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt_03.04.2020.zip module
9-normal restart
Now you can update the guide because it works !!! Thanks !!!

Native, I believe only Indian software has incorporated call recorder but with root you have two apps. In magisk modules: Axet'Call Recorder free and Call Recorder-SKVALEX which is paid. Good luck !!!

Thanks, so i've tried call recorder-skvalex it worked but the battery consumption increased while screen off, removed it and back to normal, it's maybe because it's running in the background or something, so there isn't a way to make other call recorder apps like Cube Acr work with root or without by turning them to system apps for example, i've heard of that somewhere but can't find a tutorial or an explanation.

Thanks, so i've tried call recorder-skvalex it worked but the battery consumption increased while screen off, removed it and back to normal, it's maybe because it's running in the background or something, so there isn't a way to make other call recorder apps like Cube Acr work with root or without by turning them to system apps for example, i've heard of that somewhere but can't find a tutorial or an explanation.

Hi !!! I can tell you that there is an application called Lucky_Patcher which is very likely to transform a normal application into a system application, on the net there are tutorials with all the explanations.

Thanks, so my point is, if systemise cube acr or another call recorder app will it work directly or i'll need to perform some other configurations ?

Q. How to get back to EMUI 8?
Probable reasons from people who ask this question : I messed up something during installing custom rom / I want to install something and it needs me to be on stock EMUI 8 / I just want to get to EMUI 8 and I don't care even if humanity gets extinct.
Thanks to @Djiban for guiding me about frp unlock (Yeah, I don't even know about that. I'm a pro noob ).
Note : This isn't the actual process to get back to EMUI 8 but its kinda like a perfect workaround.PROCEDURE :
Download file from link.
Extract it.
Run update_eng.bat in HWOTA_BLN_Eng/HWOTA8_BLN/
After the cmd window opens, type "1" and press "enter".
Wait till the process of compression completes.
Do not continue, Close the Window.
You'll find a file named update.zip in HWOTA_BLN_Eng/HWOTA8_BLN/update/
Copy it to your device.
Flash it with TWRP.
Flash the frp unlock file from attachments (else, you'll be able to boot but you can't get past the setup wizard).
Reboot to recovery (Now you'll get to stock one as the update.zip also contains stock recovery).
Perform factory reset and clear cache.
Reboot.

NOTE : Your boot animation will change (you'll get the Huawei's default boot animation. I like it ).
This is quite boring thread and you mostly will not need it as Huawei's phones are almost unbrickable(Thanks to Huawei for that). And yeah, Custom ROMs are much-much better.
Very useful thread. Do you think it can also be a workaround to install emui8 on devices with emui 5. Or it is just for device that ran emui8 8 once at least, before?

For both. But for devices on emui 5, continuing the process without stopping it in middle is recommended.

hey what twrp version should i use to flash since most of them don't mount internal storage (or just do it from sd card)

That is an encryption issue and can be fixed by flashing fstab.hi6250.zip

i searched for the file and found one on darkjoker sourceforge named Huawei-Decrypt-Emui_8.zip
should i just flash it?
