My 6S Pro has been kicking into reboot cycles a couple times a day and it looks like "Nubia Country Code" is usually the culprit. I have a case open with Nubia and they've said I'll need to send it in even though it's not hardware:
"Kindly let you know that there is a high probability that it is not a hardware problem, but that you cannot complete some software maintenance by yourself, and require professional tools."
So what "software" can be fixed with their "professional tools"? Perhaps just a clean boot.img? I've done more than a few full wipes and tried the last few roms, but eventually it starts rebooting again, more than a couple times when connecting to a new bluetooth device, but otherwise fairly random.
Got tired of waiting for Nubia so took a chance and disabled cn.nubia.countrycode and phone seems to work fine now. No idea what it was used for, but I don't notice any change other than the phone works now without going into rebooting fits a couple times a day.
I see a few other cn.nubia apps which I don't really trust now so I've asked Nubia support what they're used for and if they're safe to disable to see what they say.
Just an update that it turned out it wasn't that app. I think it was just the most sensitive as now it's rebooting again. I'm noticing that when it starts rebooting, it feels quite hot so I think I'm seeing what others were reporting in the thread about the release of the 3.18 rom. Something kicks in, starts draining the battery and heating up, but in my case, I think I do have bad hardware that starts rebooting as a result.
I've confirmed by running CPU stress testers and the phone will reboot as soon as it gets fairly hot. I'll be sending it in to Nubia, but I think there still is the issue of some broken process(es) that start running wild and heat up the phone every once in a while. Restarts don't stop whatever is draining the battery so that's why I'd get multiple reboots, likely until the process finally finished and the phone could cool down.
I've tried every ROM including 4.20 but I still see that effect sometimes once in the day, but other times it'll kick in multiple times. I suspect it may be widespread with the 6S Pro, but I only notice it more since the heat causes my phone to reboot.
Anyone else still noticing CPU use spiking randomly?

I did finally resolve the issue which I described in my other post, Heatsink/cooling system failure.
It is very likely a heat buildup issue. It took me a while to focus on heat since the issues didn't always correspond to the temp sensor readings. However, adding that copper shim onto the main chip with Arctic thermal paste fixed it and it's been running solid since.
The spot where I put the shim can be seen at 3:10 of this teardown video,
As you see in the video, the chip is just covered by a big blob of pink paste which is held in there with copper foil. I scooped out all that paste, cleaned with alcohol, and put in a 1.5mm copper shim with silver thermal paste on both sides.
The other side of the mainboard had a similar blob covered with foil which I also cleaned and replaced, but there I just used a generic, non-conductive, adhesive thermal pad since there were a number of traces exposed there. I did that side first, but it made only minimal difference. Once I put in the copper shim on the other side, I haven't had one reboot.
I should have made a video, but I honestly thought the phone was finished and I was more just experimenting for fun.

The 15mm by 15mm by 1.5 mm thick one only needed a couple notches filed away to make it fit perfectly within the metal housing around the chip. That housing keeps the shim in place so once the mainboard is screwed back down, the shim can't move anywhere.

Basically what happened, was on Friday, my phone got stuck in a boot loop. It would get to the "Optimizing Apps" screen and shut off again. Other people may just get to the Verizon screen, or even just the LG screen. I looked it up and found that it was a major issue affecting many people, so I just filed for a warranty and received my new phone today. Well, on Saturday night LinusTechTips, a popular tech YouTube channel(You should really check them out, they are great), released a video on how they fixed a dead Graphics Card and PCI-E SSD by heating them up past the melting point of solder and then testing them. For them, it only worked on the GPU. As I was packing up my seemingly dead phone to ship back to LG TODAY, i decided to give it one more shot. I disassembled the device to the point where I could take out the logic board. I took the logic board and wrapped it in one layer of parchment paper and two layers of tinfoil, shiny side facing in(FYI tinfoil has two sides, shiny and matte). I then placed this package into a barbecue. I turned on the left and middle burners and left the package with my logic board inside on the right side to the grill so it wasn't receiving direct heat. After 10 minutes, I took it out, re-assembled my phone and it booted. I was able to get all of my pictures off of it. This has only been confirmed to work on my phone, but seeing as this SAME issue is affecting thousands of people, It's definitely worth a shot. If you are going to use an oven, PLEASE, make sure it's above 385 degrees Fahrenheit and that you don't plan on using that oven for food ever again, this may release some toxic chemicals etc. I plan on using my grill again, so I just made sure to leave the grill open for 24 hours and I'm going to clean it before I use it next. P.S. My LG G4 was the Verizon model.
I highly recommend doing this ONLY if you have no other option. Remember that heating a logic board to high temperatures can release toxic fumes. Don't use an oven you use for food preparation! Toxic fumes can leave residue in the oven and will be re-released upon reheating over many cycles!
Assuming LG's press release regarding the issue is correct and it is really a loose contact, this "fix" could actually work. Of course, only if the loose connection is a soldered connection. Though, it's controversial. You have to remember that the melting point for SMD solder is around ~350°C, or 662°F. So 358°F, or 181°C, is not nearly enough to actually re-solder a loose connection. My guess is that the loose solder point is only expanding due to the heat. There is no real reconnect. It might only be a matter of time until it also breaks. If you could locate the actual loose connection you could really re-solder it and have it fixed permanently.
I've done this on many many devices, including graphics cards, smartphone logic boards, PC mainboards etc. It only works if a soldered connection has a crack small enough that heat expansion is enough to gain reconnection. If there is a loose contact on the PCB or the "crack" in the solder is too big, it does not work. Also, if you really have a dead chip, this trick also won't (always) work.
I read a similar story on reddit. The guy put his main board in the oven, reassembled it, and the phone started working. The last update I read was 3 days later, still working.
I fixed mine temporarily by heating up the emmc chip using solder hot air gun. It seems to be just the emmc chips connection.
Failed again after a fortnight when the phone got too hot. The connection seems to break when the g4 gets hot.
One option to try is to boot the phone inside a freezer. I found that worked too.
Pretty poor quality control on lg's part.
I'm going to try again and see if I can fix permanently.

I have a LG G4 H815 with serial number starting with 507. It died yesterday night. The bootloop escalated quickly to full death. Even the freezer trick did not work.
I followed the OP instructions. I heated up the grill to ~250 degrees Celsius and cooked the motherboard for 10 minutes.
Magically the phone has been working for a couple of hours since and I have been able to backup files to the external SC card.
I wonder how much more will it work.

Word of advice to other LG G4 users. Backup your phone regularly. Use an external SD card. Set the camera to save images and videos to the SD card. At least at doom day you will have them saved.

Actually it worked on BOTH G4s I have. I first just went dead and I bought a used one for $100 on eBay and it worked fine until the bootloop showed up.

I've bought my 10 in August and it fell into water which caused SIM card to malfunctionction and addition to that I heard something inside the phone itself (holding it firmly and shaking it, sounded like something it's not fixed inside).
I had thought it was caused by water and high temperature while drying it.
Anyhow I used warranty and today, after a 40 days got a brand new one (thank God I know, seems like they didn't detect water) but I still hear something moving inside.

Yes, the sound comes from the OIS components to compensating the movements through the axes.

The same thing has happened to me but now phone keeps on booting into download mode and shuts down and I cannot control it. Its been looping since last night when I dropped it and stops when the battery runs out. Also I have condensation on my back camera which was removed when I left it in a bag of dry rice throughout the day but it has come back maybe due to the phone heating up while I've been fiddling with it.
Also when you replaced the phone you did not tell that it got any water damage is that correct?
Is this a software issue or a hardware issue? Do you think i am able to get a replacement if I hand it in to the provider?

After a while I found out that placing a piece cut from Credit card under the CPU might work and I did , but one week later I had the same problem, likely I can just click sleep button and it returns to normal
After these many problems I decided to give up on it and sell it, but I need a permanent Fix so I don't get involved in Cheating
Also , does replacing motherboard will fix the issue ?
Does G4 Worth it now ? I know about bootloop problem

When my G3 finally died (digitizer went bad), I just replaced it with a used G4 for $150. That was like 6 months ago. The phone has been phenomenal. I know there is many who say that every G4 will bootloop eventually, but I really don't see how thats possible if you just browse google for the issue. Yeah, a lot of people had the problem, but if everyone did you wouldn't see the G4 still being sold at a ton of outlets, and you would see hundreds of links to the issue. I think there was a large batch of them that were bad... and they got past QC, but the vast majority of them are probably fine.

Yea, i saw "1 month/year after" Reviews on youtube and no one montion the bootloop issue, people ask them in comments and they reply that the phone works normal with no issues

I was skeptical at first, but by baking the motherboard in the oven did the trick for me. It has been a couple of hours now an no flickering, no black screen and no troubles. And i know i'm asking for Murphy to come and bite my as*, but as a little trick, i'd like to suggest before putting the mobo in the oven to try something: i have an old Akasa X4 cpu cooler which has metal fins which are removable. I took one of those things and cut a square a little bit smaller than the power IC to the right of the SoC and then cut another one the exact same size then stacked the two one on top of each other, making sure to not short any capacitor around the IC and then put the metal shield back, making sure to put pressure on the IC. Then preheated the oven at roughly 180 degrees celsius, then put the motherboard SoC face up into the preheated oven on three balls of aluminium foil, one at the bottom near the micro usb, and the others to balance the motherboard, like a BMW Isetta, and put the timer for 10 minutes. After these nervous 10 minutes, I took out the mobo and let it to cool at room temperature for ~30 minutes. And voila, now it works. I do hope that it is going to last, and i will be very careful with this phone, unlike the previous owner. Seriously, how can you put a freaking button (small one, from a shirt) between the SoC and the mid-frame? Crazy. And that's why i got it for ~8000 JPY (about 70 bucks).

I had a similar problem for about two months. I tried the paper thing over the camera sensor and I felt like it helped some but the problem still continued. The screen would just slowly go dark with vertical lines running through it. All apps would still work in the background while this was happening. I could boot to TWRP and this problem never happened while in TWRP which was odd. Seemed like if it was a screen issues or hardware malfunction it would happen all the time. That's when I decided to just flash back to stock. I was thinking about getting the S8 anyways so what the hell. I flashed to stock 10B and took every single OTA. Took all night but I've been running stock for over a day now and the issue has not replicated itself one time since reverting back to stock. I was on RR Nougat and Fulmics when it happened prior. Has to be a root or Rom issue?

Just wondering if your G3 is still functioning without the issue.
It really feels like a hardware issue but as you pointed out it didn't happen in TWRP... but like many, I encounter the issue when the phone gets a bit warm (>35C), so maybe TWRP and your stock android is not as hot as RR Nougat? Then again, I'm on MM when this happened...
Update: Actually the flicker n fade happened to me in TWRP while I was backing up. The temperature read about 60C.
I had bigger problems with my g3 and they started as follows
Problem 1. camera not being detected and crashing. 2. Reboot once a while which got worse over time. 3. Bluetooth sketchy and WiFi not connecting. 4. Sd card being ejected and mounted constantly. 5. Mobile data stopped working.
Solution: baked it in the oven 10min with cpu side up at 185c removed to cool 4 30min. Problems gone for the meantime.
This morning at work my D852 died with the exact same screen fades to black and would only stay on for at most like 10 seconds and would only come on again after the processor cooled enough. I came across this youtube video.

Since I didn't have any copper foil tape, I substituted with Aluminum foil tape and placed the tape in the same places as detailed in the video. (copper works better than aluminum for heat dispersal)
My phone is now back to normal and hasn't shown any issues with the past 5 hours since I applied the fix.
UPDATE: My phone has worked perfectly for several days now until I turned on the GPS from Cell Tower to High Accuracy and it immediately started to die again. Once it cooled down I was able to get to the settings screen to turn off GPS and it went back to functioning like normal
How to fix
I tried the paper trick and it did not work. No need to replace the motherboard or the phone. The issue is just a bad connection between the motherboard to the LCD display.. Probably due to dirt (in my case, I found that quite a few places in my motherboard had corrosion buildup). Here is the fix...
1. Remove battery cover and Unscrew The back plastic from the base of the phone to get to the motherboard.
2. Disconnect all the connectors from the motherboard.
3. Scan the motherboard for anything unusual. (My motherboard had corrosion on several different places).
5. Clean any dirt or corrosion with lint-free cloth. (I didn't have one so I had to use a Q-tip).
*if needed, Dip the cloth in rubbing alcohol to assist in cleaning. make sure that the cloth is JUST BARELY Damp and not dripping, otherwise you will risk water-damaging the phone. If you use rubbing alcohol, make sure that you dry the spot right after you wipe it.
6. Once you have cleaned the motherboard, check the base of the phone and clean any dirt from here also.
7. Replace the motherboard, re-connect the connections, screw on the back, and put the battery cover back on.
Viola! Mine has been working like new for 4 days so far with no issues...

Hi all,
Firstly apologies for the long post but I feel the more information I can supply the better diagnosis might be made.
I was recently given an LG G3 D855 16GB/2GB phone which has a very intermittent issue of rebooting and throwing a blue screen, notably it seems after I run any app updates. I have so far done the following to try to fix it:
1: I managed to get it working long enough to get all my friend's pics and movies etc off, then performed a factory reset using vol down and power button. Phone booted up fine, I could proceed through the setup options. Took it to work and using LG PC suite upgraded to Marshmallow. No issues.
2: Updated two apps from Playstore, rebooted and got a blue screen and reboot, but eventually it came right again and I was able to use it for a while.
3: Ran another update from Playstore and got a blue screen before the update was even installed. Left it alone for about an hour with the battery out then booted up and did a factory reset again with back buttons. All good, ran through setup no issues.
4: After using it for a few days I decide to try to update again, and again blue screen and reboot. This time did not come right even after leaving it.
5: Downloaded KitKat TOT and DLL files for my specific area or zone, South Africa, and managed to get the phone into download mode then used LG Flash Tool v 1.8.1.1023 to install ROM from TOT file. All went well. No issues at all.
6: Used for about a week then upgrade to Lollipop via LG PC Suite. Again, no issues whatsoever.
7: Next day decide to do updates, updates went fine until I rebooted then blue screen, followed by green screen with the demigod kernel crash message and reboot. However, I just left it to do its reboots and after about 5 or 6 times it booted up and stayed running.
8: This past Monday I upgraded to Marshmallow using LG PC suite, no issues whatsoever.
9: Yesterday I ran one update and rebooted, blue screen and rebooting. Took battery out and left it for about an hour again, put battery back in and did factory reset using back buttons.
10: As of right now phone is functioning perfectly again.
I must mention the following:
1: I can install any app that gets wiped when doing a factory rest, like WhatsApp, Nine Email, GBoard etc with no issue whatsoever.
2: The battery is fine as far as I can tell, it lasts about 3/4 of the day under normal to heavy usage and is not swollen at all.
3: The Phone NEVER gets hot at the back, even when rebooting constantly or throwing a blue screen.
4: As far as I know it has not been dropped.
5: It is protected by the LG QuickCircle case with QI charging back.
My question after all this is, could this be a hardware (Motherboard) issue or is it software somehow? I really like this phone when its working correctly so would love to be able to use it with no worries.
Any guidance at all from the wonderful smart people here at XDA will be highly appreciated!

Blue screen is, I think related to SSD losing some contact with motherboard. You need to open the device, get the motherboard out and put 0.5 mm thermal pad on the SSD (under the EMI shield) and put the shield back. Then take a 1mm thermal pad, or 0.5 depending on your preference but I highly recommend a 1mm one to reduce the risk of running into screen fading issue, and put it on the RAM chip. Put everything together and screw the upper screws tight so that pressure is made to the chips.
You can also apply heat to the chip beforehand, while applying some pressure. In that case, I recommend you to put something on the other side, on the RAM chip so that on both chips pressure is made while the heat is being applied. You can use hair dryer but shield the rest of the boad with some aluminum foil. Try only the thermal pads first tho.

Hi and thank you for your reply. I hear what you are saying about the SSD but my question is why only very erratically and why only when I do updates? The phone works flawlessly with calls, watching movies, doing email, using WhatApp. The ONLY time I have issues that I can ascertain is when I do updates.

I suppose because updates require a lot of storage I/O so it heats up more and that causes the solder to expand enough to trigger the cracked connection to do its job lol. It also heats up the CPU more than updating system over PC. Thermal pads are cheap. You can, however use aluminum foil just for the test but thermal pads are safer to use.

Hi and thanks again for your reply. Well, I can tell you that it is getting worse, I had random reboots and one or two blue screens for no reason, other than just normal usage. I went to the link you provided but the links in that original post to the images no longer work, however I did find the images so just need to ask, what you refer to as the SSD is that the Sandisk 16GB SDIN9DW4 memory as in the image attached?
That is correct. It is an emmc 5.0 spec. Remember to put pressure on both sides of the board (on ssd and ram)

You can try with something else just to test if it works haha. Then you can search for thermal pads. You should be able to find them in a computer shop.

Yeah you can cut it in the size of the chip but it doesnt really matter as long as it isnt smaller than the chip. If you have aluminum foil at home you can try with that first. Fold it a few times until it's thick enough. Just put some tape over it in case it touches the motherboard so it doesnt short out.

Thanks but I'll rather just do it once right, so I will hunt for the thermal pads. I'm not wanting to disassemble the phone too many times.

Disassembling the G3 is very easy. Check the guide on youtube and you'll get the motherboard out in less than 5 minutes. Just be careful with the ribbon cables. You got two on the bottom and two cameras at the top. I recommend you to try doing this before buying thermal pads just in case I was wrong and the issue is something else.

Well it seems there is a deeper issue with this damn phone!! I finally got the thermal pad, Artctic brand, 0.5mm but as soon as i apply the pads to the areas described and tighten up the phone simply refuses to switch on at all!!!. If I remove all screws from the upper frame and then try to switch on it does and blue screens immediately. So I'm thinking I just need to suck it up and get a new motherboard.

Seems I had to leave it for a while, as it is now switched on and booted up no problem, with pads in place and screwed down. Minor issue now is it won't read the SIM card but I have also found a fix for that. Right now I'm running updates and so far all good, no blue screen yet. Will post back on Monday after I've used it for a bit.

If the pads dont work well enough, you can take the motherboard out, remove the metal shields and take some hard flat metal pieces that you can put on both ssd and ram (big enough to cover them), then put some aluminum foil big enough to cover the motherboard (to protect the rest of the board from heat) and take something like pliers to put pressure on both of the metal pieces (aim for the middle of chips). Then take a candle and concentrate heat on both chips. Switch sides every now and then for about 5 minutes. This is how I fixed both reboot and screen fading problem atleast temporarily.

Hi, thanks for the reply. No, the pads are working fine, so far, just that I had to loosen the lower screw on the volume/power panel in order to get the SIM card to read. But otherwise so far so good

Hi I would just like to post an update to this,. After much battling I have finally managed to get a working phone that seems stable so far after 4 days. I'm using a 0.5mm pad on either side as the phone simply will not switch on with a 1mm pad on the screen side. Also, I had to screw down the screw I loosened at the bottom of the volume rocker/power assembly, the SIM card is still working however the SD card no longer reads but that's not a serious issue as the phone has 16GB onboard and I'm not using it for major games or movies or anything like that, purely for work email, calls/SMS, WhatsApp.
So here's hoping it will now continue to work and i will post here regularly with any updates and/or issues if that's acceptable to the moderators.
Bare in mind, all of these fixes are not permanent, for a permanent one you need a new MOBO
Have had reboot issues for a while now and they were just getting worse. Nubia said to send in for out of warranty support, but thankfully that process is severely broken as all of the repair contacts they forwarded were either out of service or foreign language (Czechoslovakian!?).
In any case, I figured the phone was done so decided to take it apart and lo and behold, it seemed to last a bit longer between reboots when the back was off. Assuming it was a heat issue, I tried replacing the thermal paste where I could with varying results, but ultimately I ended up taking it completely apart to access the face of the SD 888+ chip and replaced the blob of pink goo covered with copper tape with a 1.5mm copper shim along with MX-4 paste. 1.5mm seemed to be the right spacing and the 15mm by 15mm shim I had only needed a few edges reshaped to fit within the housing.
So yesterday I put it all back together and no hint of issues yet. Longest time it's run without a reboot for at least a month.
I suspect I may have accelerated the breakdown of the cooling since I often put my phone into a bicycle mount which I think puts some pressure on the back of the phone, likely squashing the paste a little flatter each time till it was no longer making contact.
Anyway, if you do start seeing random reboots, this might be the issue.
Though it feels like I'm talking to myself on this forum. Are XDA forums not what they used to be or are Redmagic phones just not as popular as my Google feed is leading me to believe?
If you're using it in direct sunlight you aren't doing it any favors. You can fry a phone like that rather quickly. The thermal shutdown may not react fast enough to prevent hardware damage...
Limit SOT in direct sunlight to seconds not minutes especially in high ambient temperatures.
Monitor battery and CPU core temps.
If the phone feels hot, it is hot!
