Question about using a unofficial and non-Samsung Cover Case. - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Questions &

I'm looking for a galaxy-phone with a "Smart Cover" function that turns the screen on automatically when the flip/cover of the case is opened, and off when cover is closed. I know that some official Samsung cases do this, but how about those bought from shops like Amazon? It's not possible to see in the Settings of the phone (if that feature is supported) because the related setting is only activated when the phone is put in a case.
Thanks in advance!

This case's cover doesn't stay closed unless placed face-down. Same issue with the manufacturer's hard cover case with flip cover as well.
I bought it from a UK seller off eBay for the equivalent of $50...and I'm returning it. The convenience of the window is far outweighed by the annoyance of having to fold it back to hold it comfortably (and even then, still being uncomfortable for one-handed use) - which also causes it to not stay flat later as a result - as well as the fact that it makes the phone a decent amount thicker/bulkier. IMO flip covers work better for tablets, where the weight of the actual cover keeps it down, and the cover can double as a kickstand.
I ordered two slim snap-on cases in its place, and until then, I'm not having any trouble or worry using it without anything - it's such a joy to hold and keep in my pocket compared to the HTC One I had previously.
I personally am using a Mercury Goosperry flip case. It has a magnetic lock to hold the flip cover down.
They're made by a Korean company and comes in many colour combinations.
Could anyone please tell me if the S View flip cover works for the dual sim version GT-I9192 ?
I have found S View covers on ebay but they only refer to the GT-I9190 and GT-I9195 versions.
They should be the same dimensions but its at your own risk!
Will it make the phone bulky..???

hey all...
I am looking for a flip cover with sview feature.
I was going to buy the original one but considering that my girlfriend (the owner of the s4 mini) is not really good in taking care of her stuff, i was looking for a way to protect also the back cover.
I mean: is there something like this: http://www.spigen.com/galaxy-s4-case-flip-mate.html but made for s4 mini?
alternatively, has someone tested a reliable flip cover with sview feature that protects also the back of the phone?
Thanks in advance

I'm using one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Flip-S-View-Leather-Stand-Case-Cover-For-Samsung-Galaxy-S4-Mini-i9190-Film-/151106958666?pt=UK_MobilePhones_MobilePhonesCasesPouches&var=450200604234&hash=item232ead354a The S View works great and it protects the phone very well and also stays closed. Very easy to put on and take off.

When you close the case the S-View notification stays on for about 8 seconds then goes to sleep. If you want to see the time you justs squeeze the bottom over the home button then it comes back on. When you open it it goes straight to the home screen. If some one calls it comes on and displays the name.

Samsung S4 Mini recognition problem.

Dear S4 Mini users,
Today I bought a Samsung Galaxy S4 mini. I also bought a original Samsung Flip Cover. The Android software is original and everything is up-to-date. B
But I have a problem, when I put the Flip Cover over the phone, it doesn't turn my screen off. I have the same problem, when I open the Flip Cover, then my screen doesn't go on. Does anyone knows why it doesn't work? I tried every little thing!
I really hope that my new phone isn't already damaged.
Regards,
Erik

Odd i don`t know the behaviour of flip cover without window if it should unlock the screen or not. S-view cases does have a small magnet inside on left/middleish of flip part that triggers a sensor inside the phone. Can u check with a metal screwdriver or so on your flip cover to see if the magnet is there ? ( no clue if u have one or not )

Thank you again for a really fast and useful answer. I tried what you suggested and i believe that the cover doesn't have a magnet. So that's the reason that it doesn't work?
Just bad luck. I hope that i can change it the shop.
Really thanks for your help!

As i said, i don`t know how Flip covers should work ( the ones without window ).. Maybe someone else with a flip cover can come by and answer
But as a personal recomandation, if u can change your flip cover at the shop for a window one, u will be more happy ( u can answer calls without opening the flip, u can see time/date/notifications )
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ja8gRbK5n_Q if i look at this video the screen does not turn off/on with the cover so it means normal flip cover does not have any magnet to do the trick
---------- Post added at 09:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:20 PM ----------
And also u can look at Galaxy S4 Mini Smart View Cases
The Nillkin one is more "elegant" and slim BUT it have 2 flaws
- the magnet holding the flip toghether is not so strong
- the screen is positioned 2 mm too down and u don`t see the battery/signal thru the window
The Jammylizard one is a little more bulky, bo problems with screen BUT it does have a small problem with the cut for USB part. The original samsung cable does not fit all the way in, u must cut a little from the case plastic The magnet is verry strong here keeping the case closed
I prefer those 2 over original because they are much more cheaper and they protect all sides of the phone not like original that u change back cover
I first had the jammylizard one now the Nillkin and i like Nillkin more

Auto - sleep...

Have had bad experiences with cases where the magnets haven't cooperated and the auto-sleep feature has been less than convenient. The s pen hasn't worked correctly and sometimes the tablet has gone to sleep without me touching the power button... just because the case has been folded so that the magnet has been pressed to the back of the tablet. Cheap cases? I confess... yes they have been. But after the first one I didn't really want to risk buying a more expensive one just to end up sitting with the knife and cutting out the magnet again. So l bought another cheap one... to see if the first one had been a "bad luck buy". Well, it wasn't and the second one behaved the same way... and the third one too. Is this a typical "cheap case thing" or is it something you can expect also with the more expensive ones? The best thing would of course be if this was an optional feature... that you can disable. On my iPad it's optional with a switch in the settings. I haven't found something on the Note 10.1 though. So my questions are...
• IS this a typical "cheap case syndrome"?
• IS the function optional on the Note 10.1 2014? (Or can it be done in another way?)

Firstly I have a book cover and have no trouble. I think it is a cheap case thing. Samsung official book cover has magnets in it and from what people say they have no issues with them. In settings there are an options for the book cover in accessories section try play with those settings.
BTW: the name of my case is Snugg it was $18.

Funny thing... maybe something I should keep to myself. But what the heck. Noone here knows me anyway. I found the option now... and not only that. I had actually turned it off. I must have done it by mistake while looking for it, because I sure can't remember ever finding it. Blind or senile. I must be at least one of them. LOL
But out of curiosity. I gather it must be some kind of sensor in that area since l was moving the cover's magnet area around and when it came close to that area it turned off without the screen being covered. Does that setting control the function or does it control the sensor itself? (If it only controls the function, the S Pen would still have behaved weird. around that area.)
Well, thank you anyway. Now I don't have to wonder about the setting anymore. Now I'm more worried about how come I never found it myself. l thought I had looked everywhere... including that area. But now I found it instantly. Far from hidden (even in a settings group with the NAME 'Book cover'). Maybe time for the annual doctor's checkup.

Answering calls from 2nd screen with a flip case

Hi,
I'm in the process of deciding which case to buy for my new V20. I'm tempted by LG's official Quick Cover flip case as LG state you are able to answer calls from the second screen while the case is closed which appeals. However it only has 2 reviews on Amazon and they aren't favourable (e.g. the volume buttons are obscured by the cases hinge).
My question is this though - is this 2nd screen call answering feature unique to LG's case? I can't see how it could be (unless for example the case has some built in rfid tag detected by the V20's NFC), but I saw a comment on the forum about a similar case (VOIA CleanUP) mentioning that the 2nd screen features were no different with the case on to with it off.
Anyone have any info on this?
Thanks,
James
No I have a nillkin case and I'm able to answer calls

I have the CleanUp case. Yes it works when the case is closed and a call there is a small slider in the widow one way to take call one way to reject. Red green icons very easy to use. I like it better than the circles when the case is open. It is only comes up when the case is closed, when open the huge screen with circles appears.
For the volume buttons I am forcing myself to use them with the case closed and its getting easier by the day as my fingers remember where it is. Easy to push just a bit hard to find. I have been thinking of drilling a little hole between the two volume buttons on the hinge so I have a better idea of the button location when feeling for them.
Overall a very sharp case with a few compliments. lux look and feel but you will need to train yourself to use the finger print sensor while opening the phone.
Thanks both for the replies - very helpful. I'll probably purchase either the CleanUp or Nillkin case

Galaxy S8+ Unofficial Clear View Case + NFC Sticker Pads

Right guys/gals this is for anybody who is technically minded
I have bought a third party clear view case ( I know i am sad) everything is nearly the same magnets kickstand etc.
My question.... Is their anyway to get the flip cover to work like the original reject calls etc?
Now if I under stand it right the case needs magnets and nfc to work so the phone can recognize that the case is a attached. The magnets are their but I m pretty sure the nfc isn't as the phone doesn't recognize the case.
Here is the technically minded bit... I have some nfc sticker pads and was wondering if I attached one to the case and somehow got the nfc sticker to work with the phone. would this be a way for the phone case to work like the original turning screen on/off and rejecting calls etc.
I know you can use apps like Tasker to have the proximity sensor turn the screen turn off and on but this is a big battery drain and also would not give me options to answer calls etc.
Thanks guys/gals for your patience
I don't think none of these cases uses NFC. I tried them while NFC is loud and they work just the same.
