Xperia 10 III is now officially supported by Sailfish OS: https://blog.jolla.com/xperia-10-iii/
From Wikipedia:
Sailfish OS is a Linux-based operating system based on free software, and open source projects such as Mer as well as including a closed source UI. The project is being developed by the Finnish company Jolla.

Anyone in here tried it yet?
I've bought my license and am trying to get this going - I've been unable to use the fastboot command to unlock the bootloader, which I assumed was due to the Android version being 12, and I'm now struggling to downgrade this to 11 as it seems all the tools for doing so are Windows only.
Has anyone done this process on Linux successfully? I understand some people on the Sailfish forums have managed to get it to flash over an Android 12 base but I can't even get to that stage because of the OEM unlock command failing.
Really looking forward to going back to Sailfish after a bit of a hiatus though!

According to its readme file, Newflasher runs on Linux too: https://github.com/munjeni/newflasher
So I think it should be possible to flash an Android 11-based firmware from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/stock-firmware-backups.4382229/ using this tool. But I never used it (neither on Windows nor on Linux) so I can't say for sure whether that works.
As for the issue with unlocking your bootloader, at the risk of stating the obvious, did you enable "OEM unlocking" in developer options?

Ha! Yes I did do all the required steps. I found an Android 11-based build on the Sailfish forums which worked, after doing it twice with Newflasher. Once this was done the OEM unlock command did its thing without a hiccup. Sailfish OS is now running nicely on the 10 III - hopefully Jolla are able to provide some more complete instructions for those who have managed to upgrade themselves into a documentation loop!
I've been using the X10III with Sailfish for several days now, and the experience is quite smooth. There is no green tint visible, but the "color space" gets really smashed and mangled in low light + low brightness situations... I think it's more or less the same bug. The best way to describe is that the dark areas of the screen are rendered with 8-bit color palette and way too high brightness. I created a bug report for it over at Sailfish OS Forum for those who wish to keep an eye on that.
There are three known issues: Camera API doesn't support the three back cameras (Camera2 API does support it, so it's very fixable), the indicator led is way too green (driver issue), and issues with noise cancellation during phone calls (seems to be fixed in git).
Despite the above, SFOS on X10III a hugely net positive! VoLTE works now - finally - so spring 2023 can now arrive (killing 3G here in Finland). 5G support is not there (yet?), which is a tiny bit unfortunate.
I didn't realize that the AOSP firmware is so far away from Android firmware... I somehow assumed before that they were the same... Oh well, live and learn.

I have a hard time understanding why it is necessary to repair a thing that is not broken?
VoLTE calls? Why? Today, almost every phone subscription includes if not all free, then at least thousands of minutes of free calls. In addition, there are available all sorts of apps that you can use for voice calling.
And in general, calling is the least used feature of the phone lately.

What exactly are you referring to? 3G, the OS in the device, or something else..?

Why shouldn't I use what I already paid for?
But yes, phone calls are getting rarer; for me it's something between daily and weekly. But still, it's the official method to be reached, supported by pretty much every device, so why not just use it instead of apps.
Also, if I wanted to use only apps to talk with my friends, I'd have five chat apps installed, some of them analyzing me, and all of them draining my battery. No thanks...
But let's get back to topic. Does anyone know how to solve the color banding issue on AOSP?

Tell me, are there any battery charging settings in this OS? Android in Xperia 10 III has settings to limit charging to 80, 90% a very nice option.

I can't say anything about features built into the OS (as I've never used it), but I was able to find two 3rd party apps which let you limit the maximum battery charge level:
Battery Buddy | OpenRepos.net — Community Repository System
openrepos.net
takimata / harbour-battery-charging-control · GitLab
SailfishOS application which allows to stop battery charging at user-defined levels.

I liked project astoria bcoz it solved the app gap problem.
Many hackers here are able to hack W10M beyond levels. so I wanna know if there is any way to bring back. Android subsystem?
Maybe a copy past of the android subsytem file found in older builds? and some registery changes?

No, there is no way to bring Astoria back. It is hard blocked within the kernel, plus system policies prevent it from running.

Wait... What??? You mean to tell me that they disabled Hyper V "within the kernel"?
How would that even work? And why the hell would they go out of their way that much?
If a consumer can't easily enable it, it is essentially a non-issue to whatever concerns prompted them to disable it in the first place....
But, regardless of that, who cares? As soon as we have SecureBoot unlock, we can break out of the chain of trust and simply patch the Kernel. F U C K MS!

They might use the same kernel, but they can very well configure it in different ways. Especially for different architectures.

At one point, they completely blocked LXSS.sys from running in the kernel after 10571 (this COULD be changed since RS1, I haven't checked but still most likely the case. I'd love to be proved wrong on that one though ) . They also blocked loading of the aow.wim and the AOW runtime service in the kernel, the winload.efi and some other core files. They also pushed file system policies to prevent the execution of the aow.wim. I'll have to look back to see if I can find the exact policy changes, but it was already rolled up in 10571 on forward.
Also, I'm almost certain they put changes to block certain functions from executing in the case that lxss.sys was loaded.

Well, if what you say is correct, then it seems they thought of this as a security risk indeed.... But, all of these checks should be TRIVIAL to bypass after killing secure boot. Getting Astoria running is a different story of course. Windows 10 changes more often that longhorn under the hood...

Possibly. It'll take quite the modification to system files. They do some stupid and annoying checks in the most awkward dlls that you wouldn't even think of.

This is a very interesting thread. I hope some of you are taking this project on. MS removing Project Astoria capabilities was a very poor decision, especially now in hindsight as there hasn't been much in the way of new and exciting apps for W10M. Having the capability to run Android Apps on a linux subsystem would help to keep many of us hold outs from defecting to other platforms. If someone is looking into this please start with the Lumia 950 series of devices if possible.

Could you please explain what are you doing and how your are "working on" it? Do you have a latest Windows 10 core sources plus old trunk with the project "Astoria" sources?
Could you provide any sample of the high-end whitehat's successful projects you've already worked on and released to the general public?
Or you just speculating with the irresponsible words on the public forum, looking for some cheap popularity?

Rest assured, *IF* it is accomplished, it will probably come to your device eventually.
Sony Mobile is committed to supporting the open developer community, and one way to show this is by publishing parts of our code as well as selected tools developed by our internal developers.
For some of the Xperia™ devices, we provide Android™ Open Source Project (AOSP) device configurations on GitHub. This means that the software will be open for you as a developer to use and contribute to. This is a way for us to support the open Android community, and it is also a tool for us to facilitate and verify contributions to AOSP.
If you want to build AOSP for your unlocked Xperia device, you find all the resources you need in the sections below.
https://developer.sony.com/develop/open-devices/
Unified 4.4 kernel sources
https://github.com/sonyxperiadev/kernel
Project git
https://github.com/sonyxperiadev/
Bug tracker
https://github.com/sonyxperiadev/bug_tracker/issues
Now you can build the latest Android with the latest 4.4 kernel
Thanks for all the hard work and keeping the resources easily accessible and up-to-date. I will be using them for sure .
Thank you for providing these resources and keeping up development for the devices they support. I notice that the dynamic resolution switch in the extended settings doesn't work on android 8.0 or 8.1. Are there any plans to add support for this back in at any point?

It says here that we can change the display to native 4K at 60hz or 1080 at 120hz with your AOSP https://androplus.org/Entry/4577/
The previous comment says it's not working in 8.0 or 8.1, but I don't see an open issue about it in your bug tracker. Was it fixed?
If it wasn't available for 8.0 and 8.1, what version is it available on?
I hope los and rr now.

Is there a changelog or something like that? I had issues with these binaries and AOSP builds from last week. A few days later I noticed a commit that mentioned these new binaries, but after that the "Fingerprint" setting is gone, so I'm now using a build of 08-03-2018 with the V10 binaries.
To be honest, I haven't tried a factory reset nor flashing userdata.img, so when I get home I'll update the repo, build a new version and do a full reset.
@jerpelea why Sony remove the FM radio feature on all modern Xperia phones? Why??? The hardware capability is there. Why you cripple the phone on purpose?
Can you please give a logical explanation about this issue?
When will Sony give me back this feature?
And why Sony block the Displayport alt mode? Again you cripple the phone on purpose.
And why I cannot root my phone without losing DRM keys? How to backup my DRM keys??? Please tell me.
I am waiting for answers but my patience is slowly running out.
Thanks Sony for being so user friendly.
If Sony don't fix these issues soon I will never buy Sony products ever again and I sell my Xperia's, my Playstations, my Walkmans, my Sony TV's and all my other Sony products. And I tell all the people that I know to do the same.
It's your choice Sony.

No. Some manufacturers actually care about their users. Not all smartphone manufacturers cripple the phone on purpose the way Sony does it.

Hi everyone.
I am fairly new to ANdroid phones.
Recently I purchased the 9 SE and received yesterday. Absolutely love the form factor and feel as well as the HW but the Xiaomi SW is shocking.
The issues I have are:
1 - Waveup does not work (wile I understand there are inbuilt alternatives DTTW etc, I like using WaveUP)
2 - Unlock with bluetooth (will only work with Xiaomi devices)
3 - Notifications disappear
4 - No LED to nofify of incoming items
5 - Much Mi bloatware that cannot be removed
I am considering flashing XenonHD + Okita Kernel.
Can anyone advise if this will resolve any/all of my issues?
Thanks a million
Basically, yes. But there are other bugs in the aosp roms. Also we have no led light so nothing will fix that.
I would suggest xiaomi.eu 11 it's the fastest and most stable ROM without bloat right now
Either way you need to unlock the bootloader which can take time. I would start that now.

Thanks for the reply.
My main gripes are the bloatware and bluetooth at the moment.
Yeah, read about the LED and am a little surprised as this is a very useful feature.
Also the weird way notifications are handled are well, just weird....
While the handset is really nice and sleek the OS is not great at all

I have updated to 11 stable but unfortunately it has not resolved my issue with smart unlock.
I have a Garmin Vivimove HR and no matter what I do, I cannot get the phone to allow the watch to unlock the phone.
Actually, the phone will not stay connected to the Garmin watch at all.
Very frustrating
Help with Bootloader unlocking and ROM selection
So finally getting round to unlocking Bootloader as I recently bought Sony WH-XB900N and cannot get the phone to make calls via the headset (apparently something to do with (selecting HFP or HSP for the profile - can't find it anywhere in teh settings) and, along with some of the other issues described in my original post, I've had enough of this ROM (MIUI 11.2.0) and Xiaomi believing they are entitled to control how I use a device that I own (Xiaomi are worse than Apple at this point)
Was about to do it earlier with the miflash_unlock tool and received the message "unlock will erase user data" which I didn't realise would happen.
I discontinued the operation.
Will unlocking the Bootloader on the Mi 9SE erase all my data? - If so can anyone advise the best way to proceed?
Also, is there a ROM that will address:
1. Unlock with bluetooth (will only work with Xiaomi devices)
2. Much Mi bloatware that cannot be removed
3. Allow calls from Sony WH-XB900N wireless headset
Thanks for any help.

OnePlus 9 Pro LE2123 Android 12.1 C64
Friends, help me.
For over a year, after switching to Adroid 12, only problems. I already wrote about it on the OnePlus forum, but as a rule there are only mocks that I can't use my phone to reset, clear the cache, etc. It doesn't help.
On the phone not working:
1. The photo has no latitude and longitude. There is only the name of the street (and the wrong one, the
neighboring one).
There is no Google Minimap as before.
2. The Task Manager does not close all open applications. There is always one left. And this is extremely
stressful.
3. In a private safe, the photos do not rotate horizontally.
4. Step counter counts steps. There are no kilometers under the step counter.
5. When touched, the phone does not show the current time. You have to tap 2x hard for it to display the time.
6. The notification sound of SMS, washing machine, dryer, coffee machine is the same.
This is pathetic and abnormal!
I tried by all means to assign the sounds in A12. I have not found a way.
Is there any way to fix this?
I don't want to go back in development and go back to Android 11.

The downgrade is very simple. But Android protection will be old
Go for a custom ROM, AOSP these days is very stable. u can even get the android 13 rom already from StagOS or Xtended (if u want more customizations, as the stagos team didn't fill in the horns yet) which r more stable than the OOS 12.

There is only the name of the street (and the wrong one, the neighboring one).
There is no Google Minimap as before.
2. The Task Manager does not close all open applications. There is always one left. And this is extremely stressful.
3. In a private safe, the photos do not rotate horizontally.

For the task manager problem if u do cancel all at the home screen at least for me it close all the apps. If u do swipe up for task manager when u are in an app this one not get closed. If u see a little padlocks in the top left corner near the apps in task manager u need to unlock for close it with the clear all button.
For the last problem idk.

Would you consider using OnePlus warranty to repair/replace your phone?
Wondering which country you're in? I'm completely stock too LE2123 A12 and am on C62. I haven't received the C64 update.

Recently, I was thinking about putting my phone in for warranty repair. Problems with the proper operation of the application began with changing A11 to A12. I went very far after these problems until the first version of A11 that is to: OnePlus9ProOxygen_22.E.08_OTA_0080_all_2105011323 The phone was updated OTA up to version A12 C: 44. That's when the problems started. I did this cycle 2x. Always after C: 44 the phone lost these 5 functions. So it's not C: 64's fault. C: 64 suggested Oxygen Udater. I installed hoping that all bugs would eventually disappear. Unfortunately not. Everything worked fine when I returned to A11, except for the old Android security.

It's good that you're fully stock, I don't know how OnePlus would feel about updating your phone via oxygen updater.
Would you consider putting your phone in for warranty, before you do find the truth about if OnePlus would accept your phone with C64.

Very thanks AndyC76!!!
I did a downgrade to the factory version.
Via OTA I came to C.
However, all 6 issues persisted.
There is still a bad taste in using the OP 9 Pro.
I picked up a OnePlus 9 Pro, nice phone, and I wanted to run SDR on it but couldn't find a ROM to fit my needs. So, I modified a Lineage 19.1 build to support NetHunter and figured I would share it here in case anyone else was also wanting to do the same.
OnePlus 9 Pro Lineage 19.1 NetHunter Enabled
If you wish to extract the kernel alone, please keep in mind that the VintF compatibility checks were left intact. The compatibility matrices are stored on the System image and you may need that to accompany the kernel.

Nice. I just got my OnePlus 9 Pro yesterday and this is exactly what I was hoping for. Perfect timing. I'll check it out and let you know how it goes. Thanks!
Pretty cool work man. Maybe you can edit the topic from Question. I'm sure a lot of people missed this thinking it was another person asking for Nethunter. Good work

Sorry for the late reply, thanks for the compliment. I thought that the topic might be ambiguous, but its a lot to mention in a title.
Did you try the build? If so, is it working ok?
When I modified the kernel, I checked to make sure that the required dependencies were also selected, so it should be good to go. NetHunter kept crashing before I made the modifications, but it works on my device now.

No, I haven't. Maybe when I get another 9P I'll give it a shot. My daily OS is parrot so I don't think I'd ever need NH on the go but it's still cool. It has been asked about a bunch of times on here, reddit and github for other devices.
And I just meant the "flair" on the post is set to Green "Question". Most people glance over those if they don't think they have the answer. If you can't change it any longer, I'm sure a mod would be happy to change it for you. And then you can get the proper feedback from multiple people on it also.
Is the 9P included wifi card capable of monitor mode or injection, or are you using an external card for those? I remember installing some stuff in one of my Nexus phones to get my Alfas recognized but I never did finish the job on that device.
Also, do you know if it's possible to take advantage of the Adreno gpu for hashcat? Or if there's a mobile equivalent? I'm not sure if there's an API available for the depth needed for something like that. It would be neat to have the onboard gpu increasing hashcat rates tho . Or for someone to make a pcie adapter and I can just carry a spare battery and a 1080ti around with me when I need cracking on the go

Even if you had a PCIE adapter... getting any video card, 1080ti or otherwise, working on an ARM chip is not realistic as there are no drivers. And even if you could use the GPU for hashcat it would still be very slow.
Why not just spin up a cloud server with an RTX 4090 or few? You can rent them by the hour. For a full day is only around $30. No need to do it locally... you can just use the phone to capture the handshake, crack it in the cloud via the phone and have the cracked password sent back to your phone. Achieves the same thing you're after but much much faster and without the need to crack it locally on very under powered hardware.

Carrying around a 1080 otg was a joke. I thought I made that clear when I said carry around a battery, sorry for the confusion or missed sarcasm.
I have been using pooled resources for cracking for ages. We set up hashtopolis and had a bunch of 1080s. I have a different resource now but that wasn't the question anyway. The question was whether someone had a way to use the onboard Adreno gpu to speed up any calculations on mobile. Something similar to hashcat for mobile.
A full day of 4090 for $30 is super interesting tho, I may look into that and compare some speeds of that vs my current pooled resource.

Ok sorry. Sometimes I take things a bit too literally.
Was almost going to mention hashtopolis but was trying to keep it short. That's cool though.
To at least half answer the actual question... it would seem 3d hardware acceleration is possible on a rooted device in a linux chroot. See mesa 3d library / Turnip + Zink https://github.com/Grima04/mesa-turnip-kgsl

That doesn't answer if it works with hashcat, but probably it will.
Awesome work! I was hoping this would come out soon. Anyone try out any of the features and see what’s working yet? Injection, monitor mode, internal Bluetooth, etc? I’m debating upgrading to an 8 Pro or 9 Pro, but I wanted to see if the stuff from the unofficial 8 Pro kernel was working here yet.
Thank you for building this ROM and kernel. I have tried many times to get the wireless adapters to work with this. Monitor mode works natively if you find the right version of nethunter or install the nethunter lite zip. But it stops working after update && upgrade. I haven't tested the desktop version yet to see if packet injection works in that mode. But testing injection mode by typing sudo aireplay-ng -9 wlan0 doesn't find any APs and injection doesn't work. If someone has gotten it to work can you help me out.
I got the wireless adapters to work after using the firmware module for magisk. Injection works also. Thank you for making this build

Nice! Way to go, dude. By chance did you test HID interfaces? Are you still able to use everything after update && upgrade since you installed the Magisk module?

I didn't test the hid interfaces or the bluetooth. I did test the packet injection using an Alfa AWUS036NHA. The adapter also still worked after running update and upgrade. After installing the firmware module and restarting. I plugged the adapter in but it didn't light up. So I went to custom commands in the nethunter app and chose start monitor mode on wlan1 and the blue light came right on.

Aha! Thanks for the update. So this is strictly on external Wifi adapters or was both internal and external working? Sorry, I’d test this stuff myself but I haven’t decided whether I’m gonna get a 9 Pro or just get an 8 Pro and use the official release.
Both worked for monitor mode but I don't know if the internal is capable of packet injection. I tried aireplay-ng's injection test and it didn't say injection mode was working, but it did work with the adapter. Are you certain that the internal can inject on the 8 pro? I've been told that the 7 pro was the last that it worked with. But I could be wrong.

Can't you install the Nethunter mod on any device w/Magisk?
I ask bc I've installed it and got chroot installed successfully with different devices as I'm interested in learning to use Kali (been lacking on it tho) but have had problems with newer ROMs on 1+7pro, haven't tried the 9 pro yet but have the device. I like custom heavy OS like crDroid and stuff (certain features I gotta have), so I'm wondering if there is anything specific about this ROM and Nethunter compatibility?
You need the nethunter kernel for packet injection to work properly. This ROM has the kernel built into lineage 19 and everything seems to work fine. The internal WiFi doesn't do injection. But it can be put into monitor mode.
I've got a question:
Is the USB arsenal present on the nethunter app drawer? I'm on Nameless AOSP with nethunter chroot installed and yet I can't access it...
