Question Wi-Fi Keeps switching off - Samsung Galaxy S22

I've just bought an S22 256gb and the issue I have is that the Wi-Fi keeps turning off. I've done several factory resets and turned off all automation, disabled adaptive power saving and everything else I can see that might cause it to turn off. I'm not on an unlimited data plan so this is driving me mad! Any help or suggestions would be really appreciated. Thanks.

Try turning off the following settings:
Settings -> Connections-> WiFi -> 3 dots in the upper right corner -> Advanced:
- Switch to mobile data (this is probably it since it was on by default on my device)
- Turn on WiFi automatically
- WiFi power saving mode

Thank you, I'll try that.

turn off WiFi?

guys, is there any point turning off WiFi when not in use, or does it do the decent thing and stop using power when not actively in use?

I'd imagine it still scans for networks so it will still use battery - I just have the toggle on one of my home screens and turn it on when needed

from Market, get WiFi Status from Andrew Schwimmer, one of the very best android app developers. It doesn't do exactly what you want but it's the smartest detection app out there for letting you know when there is no wifi signal to connect to, thus prompting you to toggle off wifi. It displays in the Notification Bar.
As for turning off wifi, I tried about 10 home screen widgets; they are all the same more or less. To me the far greater tool is Quick Settings, which gives you one-click access from anywhere via the Notification Bar, vs having to navigate to home screen and find the widget. But in addition it has toggles for sound, brightness, data, gps, bluetooth, etc -- all in on fast app.
I think it blows all these single-function widgets away as dumb.
So if my phone is on, screen off, in my pocket, it'll be constantly looking for wifi? If this is the case it's, well, dumb. Ta for tip about quick settings, just installed it and it's very nice.

Add the widget 'Power Control' for one-touch bluetooth/wifi/gps/sync/brightness control....

Not sure it would be scanning for wifi when the screen is off. That would be daft. Ntework coverage yes, but wouldnt think wifi until you turn on the screen. Anyone confirm?
no, it stays on when the screen is off.
Seems so many people complained about it turning off in standby that google went ahead and changed it.
now it defaults to staying on forever until manually turned off.
Go to Settings> Wireless & Networks > Wi-Fi Settings > [Menu] > Advanced > Wi-Fi sleep policy. I set mine to 'after 15 mins'... if I understood this setting correctly then after 15 minutes of the phone being in Sleep mode it'd turn off the Wi-Fi. I don't use mobile data anyway so that's irrelevant. Wi-Fi will turn on again once I activate the screen.
blimey, that's well hidden.
what a stupid arrangement. WiFi should be on demand, and enabled only when data requests it, like the iPhone.

I use "Y5 - Battery Saver" for my wireless shenanigans
I am using 'Y5 battery save'r. It turns on wifi if you are on a location where you had a wifi connection and turns it off if you go elsewhere. You can manage the locations in the program. It can use the GPS or radio for the locations. You will find it in the market place.

[Q] enable airplane mode turns wifi off in 4.2?

i have 2 gnex phones that both just updated to 4.2, and prior to the update, when i turned on airplane mode, cell data would turn off but wifi would be left on.
after the 4.2 update, one phone continues to work that way, with airplane mode on, cell data is turned off but wifi is left on. the other phone, enabling airplane mode turns off both wifi and cell data.
i know that apps are not able to toggle airplane mode anymore (AutoAP) because of security changes but why would airplane mode work differently on 2 phones running the same 4.2 build?
both phones are running stock android, no root, no flashing.
is there a setting i'm missing? was this something in the update that other people are experiencing?
thanks for the help!
Can't you just toggle wifi back on after?

yes, but it immediately shuts wifi back off.
with airplane mode on, i can go to the wifi settings screen, and hit the toggle, it turns on, scans, finds the local wifi, connects and at the same moment it connects the wifi on/off toggle flips back to off.
just seems weird that it is happening with this phone but mine is working as expected...
Then you must go back to 4.1.2 with 4.2 gapps.

any idea why it would work with one 4.2 phone and not the other?
seems odd i'd have to backport one phone but leave the other at 4.2
This happens on my Nexus 4. Airplane mode constantly disables WiFi, no matter what. And yes the app AutoAP doesn't work either.
I have found this app, Airplane Mode Wi-Fi Tool, funny that it was made for Android versions prior to 2.0.
The actual app doesn't seem to work (to enable/disable airplane mode and WiFi), but within the app lies a nifty feature in the Preferences menu under Extras:
Keep Wi-fi On
Wi-fi on Airplane Mode
Check both of those and you should be able to turn Airplane mode on and then keep WiFi on.
Cheers.

im on ARHD 7.0.0 and even in prior versions, when airplane mode was turned on wifi would turn off but it could be turned back on. how come your wifi stays on during the airplane mod transition?
Isn't airplane mode means disable any active radio transmission includes Wi-Fi which is sent and receive data ?
If you just wanna stay off calls why don't you just use automatic redirect incoming calls to voice mail or just simply pull out the sim card?

Airplane mode is supposed to turn wifi off (its a transceiver). However, You can turn it back on while airplane mode is activated and still have the other functions off.
That how airplane mode is supposed to work, thats not a bug, every phone ive had does this

i don't know why, but wifi always has always stayed on when switching to AP mode since i got our Gnex phones in sept. (4.1 i think). wifi even stayed enable when switching to AP mode in my old crappy kin two.
and i think it must be fairly common based upon the instructions in the $30 cell service thread, but i'm no android expert so maybe i'm wrong.

There's a lot of talk about this. Check the [GUIDE] to voip/$30/month plans. But it sounds like google moved it into part of core services or something like that. So none of the autoap type programs work any more. But one member had this suggestion below in that other thread. Gotta buy Tasker, but should be able to get back to working like AutoAP did.
Download Secure Settings. Launch Secure Settings, go over to the Helper tab and install the helper. Then go to Tasker. Go into your task and delete the Airplane Mode radio step and the Airplane mode on step. Then hit the + at the bottom left, go to Plugins, select Secure Settings. Hit edit. Scroll down to "Airplane Mode Radios" and select it, and then select "Cell" from the dropdown. Hit the save button at the bottom left and select the check mark to create the task. Move the task where it needs to be by dragging on the right side up and down. Then create a new task, Plugins, Secure Settings, edit, Airplane mode, on, save button, check mark, move to position. You can figure out the rest. Works perfectly.
Llama works as well, it's free and looks less complicated

keep wifi on in airplane mode
I guess I have figured out how to do it with Tasker or Secure Settings.
Both have two actions like "Airplane Mode" and "Airplane Radios", so the second one doesn't turn off anything, but set, what to control with "Airplane Mode" action. Setting seems to be system wide and permanent (saved after reboot).
Good luck

[Q] Wifi won't connect until turning on screen

My WiFi doesn't seem to connect to saved hotspots until the screen is turned on. Whenever I get to work or back home and I don't turn on my phone; a couple hours later when I actually turn on the screen it connects. Does anyone else have this issue or know what might cause it? I'm not using any power saving apps or any apps that affect my network.
Try going into Settings-> Wifi -> Click menu button and select "Advanced" and make sure "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" is set to always.

can anyone else verify this happens for them too? I have tried a complete format/wipe and loaded a stock 7105 rom and am still having the issue.
Maybe if you have power saver on, it does that? I know it's lot listed under what it's done, but you never know (;
Other than that, I can't think of anything other than keeping WiFi on during sleep.

it's off :< My roommate's S3 and my other roommate's N4 both auto connect without touching the phone. Once you turn the screen on it's already connected to wifi while mine is on edge until I power on the screen.
The only reason this is an issue is that I use grooveIP for calls through data, so if I have no reception here (i.e. no data) I won't be able to reliable receive calls unless I remember to power on my screen every time I come home.

HTC M8 data issue !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im having some issues with data connection on the new M8 issues i did not have with the M7
If my phones data connection has been idle when i try and go to a website or access facebook etc. the UP arrow below H will stay solid, the DOWN arrow will never light up and the request will just... do nothing. it will just stay loading a webpage or facebook wall for hours and hours and hours.
However, if i press the power button and either turn on and off flight mode or data network mode the H and arrows will dissapear, reappear, change 3G to H and then bam... internet is back on without a problem.
What could be causing the phone to somehow "turn off data" when its idle for long enough?

no, i turn off all power saver

the only other things i would look at are, maybe changing the APNs. to see if there is anything wonky there or, check your fast dormancy in venom tweaks > misc. other things to check maybe is your phone info by using *#*#4636#*#* to check if your actually connected or disconnected, or in service or out of service. and what is going on with your network when all this is happening. lastly if that doesnt work i would flash a stock rom to see if its something hard coded into the rom.
i have the same problem, did you find a solution ?

No data when book cover is closed

hi, i am using an original samsung book cover purchased at amazon (48 euros) and was happy with it. however, i noticed that when closed my data connection is deactivated automatically. i tried to search under the settings but i could not find it. is there any settings we could changed to enable data always while the cover is closed? one more thing, when my screen turns off, the data will also be disabled, how can the settings be changed for this? i could find the settings for this but even if i enable the data when the screen is off, it deactivated it. is it because i'm rooted with CF-auto root? i'm running nf8
thanks
Never heard of this. I checked mine and it works. I have the WiFi only one. Do you have the LTE version?
Do you have power saving mode turned on?
Trying toggling it on and off.

No, i didn't turn on the power saving mode and i also have set the timeout to never under the advance settings for mobile hotspot. This might be a bug for NF8? i have to open the cover again to activate the data.
Mobile Hotspot? You mean WLAN - settings - extended… ?!
MfG/best regards
