Has everyone here experienced this? - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is this a common issue? my tablet lags on stock android 6 and on LOS 17.1 really bad but the hardware is more powerful than a Huawei media pad t3 that doesn't lag much and I have been wondering why
Display resolution?
Bad battery?
is touch wiz being bad?
an issue of Lineage OS 17.1 on this hardware?
I would really like to have this as my primary tablet since my TAB 3 is running on X86 and app support is terrible on that thing and this tab s has an AMOLED which is way better than the LCD in my tab 3
The model is the SM-T700 base model 8.4 inch
can the performance system-wide be improved since I really want to use this as a daily tablet for media playback?
EDIT: I forgot to mention I have a Samsung official case for this thing that mounts on it using 2 tabs on the back and i would like to keep its function to lock the device when its closed

To buy or not to buy Pro 8.4

I'm shopping for a 8" tablet. I'm considering either Samsung pro 8.4 or LG Pad 8.3 google play edition.
It seems that the 8.4 Pro stock ROM is sluggish compared with a google play edition LG G Pad 8.3. Will installing debloated ROM make Pro 8.4 as fast as LG G 8.3? Or its about high screen resolution on Samsung where customized ROMs can only help a little bit?
if you looking for pro8 , why not Samsung Tab S ?
Im using Tab Pro8, it works great, didn't flash any custom rom, just get root and install greenify, system tuner etc , i can del what i want even app in rom after root (Deboat), so it works very great. Of course it still can't compare with Note3 ( I swapped Note3 to TabPro this year) , i feel like just a bit slower while swapping apps. But, I like the menu button change, and installed GMD for faster app switching

I have the Tab S 8.4 unrooted with stock ROM and I bought my girlfriend the 8.4 Pro and immediately installed Cyanogenmod 11 M9 on it. The Tab Pro is much, much smoother. I don't know about gaming but for general surfing, reading and videos the CM11 is definitely fast enough. I just wish it was also available for my Tab S so I could get rid of the Touchwiz lagfest because the Amoled screen in the Tab S blows away the Tab Pro.
I bought it 250 euros. for that price there is no competition. on the other hand there must be a reason that in 6 months it went down to 250 from 450...!
so far it is great but - yes there is a but... - it feels like it begs you to flash the "samsung" out of it...
so you will get a great tablet either way, which you can root or flash and make it awesome

The gpad 8.3 has two disadvantages over the Samsung tablets (pro or s)
- display. The display is arguably the most important tablet component -good tablet or bad, you'll be looking at that display! The gpad had a very disappointing display. Much dimmer than Samsung and the colors were a lot worse to my eye. Definitely compare them side by side before making a choice.
- the infrared remote: Samsung lets other developers make apps that work with the IR. The gpad, at least when I had it shortly after release, could not be accessed by most IR apps. That was down to its use of a proprietary, encrypted signal channel as I understand it.
I don't like Touchwiz, so I don't run it. You can run another launcher and do much better on feel of the UI, or you can go whole hog and install CM11 - the build for the device is quite good and is beginning to do very nice things for battery life.
The upside for the gpad is that it's going to get official releases of updates much faster than the pro or s series Samsung tabs will.
For me, the benefits of the Samsung are well worth it.

Where did you get it for 250 eur?
Defenitly go for Samsung's 8.4, i've heard really bad recensions about LG's 8 inch tablets .
There is cyanogenmod and slimkat available for Pro 8.4 and they are working lovely.
Sound system is incredible on Pro 8.4, screen resolution is beautiful.

Haven't tried the LG tablet, so I couldn't compare the two. But to me, all the sluggishness was within the TouchWiz launcher (going between home screens, app drawer, etc.). Going to a CM-based ROM, the tablet feels very smooth to me.

Its just the way it is with Android tablets. The masses are drawn to the cheaper devices, and the higher end tablets really don't sell much, and drop price quickly. Although I am glad the higher end Android tablets are being offered. It was pretty bad, for a while there wasn't anything but feature gimped cheap tablets in the smaller 7-8 inch form factor.

Look at the release date for each tablet - I'd personally go with the newer
Do you care about the physical home button? That was a contributing factor to my Tab Pro purchase.

Asus Zenpad 3S 10 (64GB) or the Huawei Mediapad M2 (64GB) 10?

Hello,
I'd like to buy a new tablet but I'm a bit confused between these 2 devices.
The Asus has 4GB RAM on board and Android Marshmallow which is great while the Huawei has to do it with Lollipop, that's really a shame!
On the other hand the Huawei has an aspect ratio of 16:9 or 16:10 which is nice in landscape modus when you do screen sharing with Miracast to your tv.
What do you guys think about these devices? Which one is better? (Also if we consider in long term). I'm curious about your comments.
Do you guys think the Mediapad will ever get the Android Nougat update? Nor has it even Marshmallow...
I'm in the same situation can't decide between m2 8 inch with 16:9 aspect ratio (the same ratio as my current sam note 8) or to go for 4:3 other tab options
In ur case i would go for the asus one , huawei is known for very slow updates , i don't expect that the m2 will get the nougat update....
According to the specs, the gpu in the asus is about half that of the Huawei (70 GFlops to 144)

Not OP but just FYI, the M2 got a Marshmallow (Android 6) upgrade a while back.
My wife has the Zenpad 3 8 (not 10) and its pretty sharp, just as nice as my M2 8. Build quality is about equal to me. But nothing that makes me want to switch. I think it all comes down to personal taste.
Good luck!

Searching a phone under 5 inch for lineage

Hello,
I am searching for a phone under 5 inch for current lineage os (and likely with support for next versions). It seems to be nearly unpossible. It is quite hard to check all supported phones for the display screen. Does someone knows if there is somewhere an overview of lineage phones where I can sort or filter the display size? Does someone uses such a phone with lineage?
I use moto e 1St gen condor. 4.3 inch and cheap. Will upgrade from mokee marshmallow as soon as audioFx is fixed or replaced by viper.
Edit: official resurrection remix seems to be the better choice in terms of stable updates.

S4 Mini is good if you are happy with a small midrange phone, but be careful you get a version which has official Linage support ie I9195, i9192, I9190 and NOT variants like i9195L (though it's normally possible to get it running on those but support is limited)
Droid 4
Really happy that I can keep my Droid 4 running through several major version of CM and now Lineage OS 14.1. 4" screen and a nifty sliding keyboard (O where have they all gone?).
I only use it a music server now so I can't speak for it's cell capabilities but it's solid performer anyway.

I own a Wileyfox Swift, as I looked for a Dual SIM device with LTE at an affordable price.
It is 5 inches, which I consider too big now, so I wonder if you found a smaller one in the meantime?

Find ports to SM-T321 mondrian3g

Hi everyone,
I got a Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 3G Version (mondrian3g) for a long time, first it's powerful processor ran some great applications and games, but now, the android system that been changed by Samsung Touchwiz slowed down the processor speed, and I cannot customize it. I saw T320 and T325 roms all over the forum, only rom for T321 I found is the mondrian3gX rom. Now i'm using that rom, but I still want more original android system with faster experience. Can anyone port or build Cyanogenmod or Lineage OS for Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 3G version SM-T321? If anyone can help me, a lot of thanks.

Question Xiaomi Pad 5 pen performance after update, is it now better than the S7 FE?

I'm looking to buy a tablet for my daughter, who would use it for drawing. According to the internet the best Android tablet for this use case is the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7/S7+ (a little too expensive for me) and then come the S7 FE and Xiaomi Pad 5.
I read conflicting opinions about the drawing performance/lag etc., mostly from reviews done before the latest Pad 5 updates which *should* have improved the drawing experience.
For sure, the snapdragon 860/6GB RAM is better than 778G/4GB RAM .
Would anyone be so kind as to share their experience?
If your daughter is pro, apple or samsung.
But i think mipad is enough for your daughter
Xiaomi Pad 5 pen is at least better than S6 Lite and enough for writing. I don't know for drawing.
The pen is mostly fine, if you want the best experience get Samsung or Apple.
