After a great success of ProximtyScreenOffLite (more than 68,000 downloads) I decided to take all the feedback and feature requests by users and improve the features and quality of the app.
Pro Features:
Pocket/Flip or Smart Cover Mode: Turns screen OFF when sensor covered and ON when uncovered. (Feature requested by Galaxy Note users)
Turn Screen On/Off with following gestures:
Swipe Once,
Swipe Twice,
Swipe and Hold,
Hold and Swipe and
Cover and Hold
Ignore Apps list: Add the apps/games where you want to disable the service
Widget: to start and stop the service
ScreenOff shortcut: to turn off the screen by launching the app.
Sensor Configuration : Based on your device select the sensor of your choice, or the one that's available and configure their values, as they are different for different devices.
Enable screen on/off during calls only
Disable call handling completely
Battery saving options: De-Activate sensors after timeout and De-Activate sensors when power button pressed or system goes idle.
Override power button and screen-on by other apps (Phone is in pocket and you get a call or you accidentally press the power button, screen will remain off)
Prevent accidental screen on
Vibration on screen On/Off

I'm glad I stumbled onto this thread. I have been using pso pro for a while now and have loved it. But the other day I updated from CleanROM 3.5 to 4.8 and now the app is screwey. I have set to disable in landscape mode which worked flawlessly on 3.5,but it's not working on 4.8 at all. Also the sensitivity is jacked way too high. If I even get within an inch of the sensor it shuts off the screen, which really sucks when I'm watching videos in landscape (when the app shouldn't be enabled) and just holding the phone turns off the screen. So I turned the sensor sensitivity to low, but it still does it.
Also I have it disabled for calls and when the screen is off when receiving an incoming call it works ok, but if the screen is on it will turn off, and every time I turn the screen back on to answer the call it goes off by itself instantly every time. I tried turning the screen on by waving my hand across the sensor, and by pressing the power button, but as soon as the screen comes on it shuts off instantly until the phone stops ringing. I've literally missed dozens of calls because of this and it's infuriating.
Any ideas?

My problem is it does not turn the screen on every time I open the cover. It seems to just stop after a period of time, then stop working. I have to stop/start service to get a period of proper function. I have not changed any settings at all....

About landscape... do you screen rotation enabled?

Hi,
I would like to change the notification bar quick settings panel shortcuts, basically reorder them. Because when in a call, sometimes the proximity sensor doesn't detect the ear properly and screen turns on. Then the phone goes into airplane mode because its located right at the top where your cheek touches the screen. I'm very annoyed with this. I have understood that the proximity thing has no solution. So how can I change position / remove airplane mode setting from there?

Theater mode is supposed to be DND mode. So, the notifications may not comes. For shake hand to wake-up, go to Settings > Wrist gestures and turn it off. Unfortunately, touch to wake up will be still there. I really missed the double tap to wake up feature on my old SW2

Thanks. But I font think the Wrist Gesture setting has anything to do with shake (tilt) to wake up.

No, to just disable tilt to wake, you need to check that setting in the wear app on the phone.
I am confused with how "Ambient Display" and "double tap to wake" works
Problem solved. There are settings to configure these under settings --> display. Ambient Display is a LeeDroid-related feature.
I am fairly new to HTC/sense and I am confused with how the "ambient display" and the innate double tap to wake function works. I am currently on LeeDroid rom but I assumed that both the LeeDroid and stock rom share the same function. So far, when i disable "ambient display", my phone will not light up when I get a text. I can't find an option to disable/enable double tap to wake. Here is what happens on my phone (I do not have pattern/password/fingerprint to unlock)
1) phone screen is off --> Double tapping on the phone wakes the screen up. Phone lights up with lockscreen.
2) phone screen is off --> doing a 1 finger swipe up motion on the screen wakes the screen up AND unlock the screen, taking me to the unlocked homescreen.
3) phone screen is off --> finger on fingerprint sensor wakes screen up. Phone lights up with lockscreen.
4) Phone screen is off --> phone just lights up randomly (I didn't even move the phone or change the lighting in the room) with clock in upper screen with a black background. (similar to the screen you get when the screen lights up with a new text notification). Is this the "ambient display" screen?
5) Phone screen is off --> 1 finger swipe down motion on the screen triggers a hint to suggest another wipe down to activate camera
I am very confused as to which of those are part of the "ambient display" function. Why does the phone light up randomly? How do I disable "double tap to wake" or "swipe up to unlock" functions?
Thanks. Any help is appreciated

You should probably ask in the rom thread. You'll get much better advice and more specific to your current setup.
you go to settings/display, gestures & buttons/motion launch gestures then untick everything there
#4 is the Ambient Display feature.
Ambient Display is a LL/MM feature, LeeDroid has enabled it within his ROM (not enabled in stock ROMs).
The rest are Motion Launch gestures and both Motion Launch and Ambient will be found under Settings>Display & Notifications (as 2 different options).

What a pain in the arse. I am using Slim-Rom and a couple of options are available that have helped me overcome this inconvenience and may be available on others.
My path: Settings > Display there I find settings for Sleep , Volume Rocker Wake, Wake Upon Charge.
Since there is no way to turn the screen off, I set the device to sleep after 15 seconds of inactivity.
To turn it on, I allow the volume rocker to wake the device and if available, wake upon charge. This turns the device screen on when the charging cable is plugged in.
I know there is nothing better than the On/Off switch but I hope these little workarounds help you out.
knock knock in any kernel or cm ambient display and knock knock on statusbar on lock.
Ambient display and knock knock on statusbar on lock is in cm13 settings that i am using now, on gestures . knock knock is the best choice for you and can you find in some kernels. Knock knock on homescreen can be found in launcher settings on some launchers.

I guess Slim ROM has double tap to turn off the screen functionality. Or use gravity screen app and turn the display on and off automagically. It uses proximity and/or accelerometer.
