Everytime I try to download a picture on RCS message I get tap to download checked all settings I can think off but only works on WiFi. EE is my provider
Anyone got any suggestions??
In settings, chat features whats the status, is it showing connected
Yes shows connected normal RCS texting works and if I send pictures the other person gets it but I always have to press tap to download on mobile data and it doesn't work soon as I connect to WiFi it downloads automatically
Look to see whether "Auto-download MMS" and "Auto-download MMS when roaming" are enabled (Messages --> Settings --> Phone number).
Also look under "Auto-download files you receive over mobile data" max size setting (Messages --> Settings --> General -->Chat features)
Okay thanks I'll check that
Nothing fixed it very unreliable this rcs I'll stick to sms

I have the t-mobile pro 2 (US) and I finally updated my phone to "RUU_Rhodium_HTC_Europe_1.19.401.0_Radio_Rhodium_3.44.25.27_Signed_Ship" and the phoneworks great all features are performing as they should except MMS. My phone will not send any mms messages even though the settings look correct. All settinghave been changedto the t-mo settings, and internet, sms, all work.
Any ideas or has anyone had this issue and been able to solve?
I checked online and verified the settings are correct. When the rom updated it also update the radio. Could that affect MMS on t-mo US?
I am having the same problem on my phone if you figure something out please post it. Thanks
same issues, correct settings - using EnergyROM 3.0
I think i have figured it out it works for me atleast tmous rhodium flashed rom to 1.19.401.1wwe. Go to settings-connections-connections-advanced-select networks(programs that automatically connect to private network should connect using: select T-Mobile MMS)- edit-edit(T-Mobile MMS)-next-change access point name to (wap.voicestream.com)-next-finish.
Next go to txt msg's select all messages, then menu scroll down to mms options select it go to servers tap on T-Mobile MMS check connect via is on T-Mobile MMS done, and you should have it working.
I received an e-mail from a friend. He sent me the link to this post from Wiki_EnergyROM.
here is the post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4422331&postcount=6
I have tested it out and it works perfect.
Thanks Wiki_EnergyROM!
Hey, so I did the Simple OTA Root then followed that with the stock root by whiteslack. Everything is working perfectly fine but I cannot receive any MMS/Picture mail. I can send MMS out however. I always get a message saying downloading....
Is there something that breaks this in that root? Or is there an apk available to re enable mms downloading..? Under my settings for messaging/connection settings my MMS proxy says not set and MMS port says not set also..
Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated
BUMP this up top please
Just some very general help here.
First, are you running a custom rom or a stock rooted?
Second, try a PRL and Profile update from: Menu-Settings-System Updates, then choose Update profile and Update PRL
Third, Go to your messaging app (if you are using stock) go to: Menu-Settings, and make sure that auto-retrieve is selected. Also on this screen, Select: Connection Settings. and see what it says under MMSC
I am running the Stock Rooted 1.47.651.1
I just did the PRL and the Profile update
Under connection settings I have
Name - Production
MMSC - http://mms.sprintpcs.com
MMS Proxy - (not set)
MMS Port - (not set)
MMS Protocol - WAP 2.0
and auto retrieve is checked
Still getting same download error but I can send just fine
Turn off wifi.
Why do you think Wifi would affect that? I am turning it off tho and then updating PRL and Profile again
Then again I was able to get a MMS as a slide show from a contact I have that is connected or linked to facebook..testing something now
Ok Weird so I took a phone and sent a MMS to my google number and got the pic/slideshow
let me try to turn of google voice and see what happens
WIFI does not support MMS, you need to be on 3g or 4g for MMS.
Google voice does not support MMS either.
Very True, but Wifi also does not support SMS either but regardless even with Wifi on, the phone should know. But the issue is happening with Wifi off, I work at Apple and support iPhones so I know how to troubleshoot but I swear I took an iPhone 4 and text a MMS to my phone number and got the error downloading, then I text an MMS to my google number and got the picture.....turning off google voice now
Were you holding the iPhone 4 in the lower left hand corner?
Grab some duct tape.......
Google only supports text, no SMS or MMS. That is why many people have not 100% transitioned to Google Voice.
HAHHAHAHAHAH!!! Hey I said I work their and support but I do have an EVO!! lolol Not iPhone
Glad you saw the humor and didn't take offense.
Using the stock messenger, if you text a picture to your phone number, you should receive it without issue.
I have never been able to receive MMS or SMS through my google number.
If I turn on wifi, and try to send myself a picture, it doesn't receive the picture until I turn off wifi.
In the standard messaging app, there is a setting for Auto-Retrieve under MMS. Make sure that is on.
Resolved the issue. I turned off Google voice and I started getting my photos .. weird
Newly now all are coming in as slideshows.... normal? So if someone sends an emotion then I actually have to hit play..
Evo 4G
When I get an MMS it does not download it (option to auto retrieve is set), instead the message is shown with a DOWNLOAD button, if I press this it says downloading but doesnt, sometimes the message will then show up minutes or hours later or not at all.
Anyone else having this problem?
Thanks!
edit: never mind, got confused due to multiple tabs, didn't read the thread title, didn't spot the Handcent bit.
lol No probs!
Still having this problem, can't send MMS's or receive them.
This is almost certainly due to your MMS settings. Check that they exactly match those for your service provider (menu -> settings -> wireless & networks -> mobile networks -> access point names).
I also thought this and had them resend the settings, in addition to that if they were wrong then I would never be able to send or receive MMS's.... Not just have a massive delay before/after sending/receiving!
Also this problem exists if I use the SE messaging app too not just Handcent.
From what I noticed this is due to the regular data-connection, as the regular data-connection needs to disconnect and the MMS connection going online to retreive the MMS.
I saw that at times the regular connection then tries to revert back since it went offline and thus killing the MMS transfer. If I connect to wifi the MMS will download instantly as the regular connection is down.
It's a shame that you cannot specify that MMS should be retreived over the normal data connection (yes I know a cost thing for many people).
I recall the X1 being able to set which connection to use for MMS, that was nice.
Hey all,
I have had CM installed for a while now on my Australian E975K (currently on 10.1.2).
I have never been able to send or receive MMS, and it's really starting to bug me.
I believe that my APNs are 100% correct, confirmed by my network provider (Vaya, who use Optus APNs). I have two, an internet one, and an MMS one. The blue radio button next to the internet one is highlighted.
I can take screenshots of the settings if needed, but as I said I have triple checked that they are correct.
When I try and send an MMS (through the default Messaging app), it hands on "Sending". The network status indicator will flash, and if I go to Status in System settings, I can see that it is switching constantly between "LTE" and "Unknown". It will stay like this until I Delete the MMS I am attempting to send, and reboot the phone.
MMS worked fine on stock.
Any ideas?

I've been searching for a solution to this for some time. There does not seem to be a fix as such, but there is a work around.
Here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36511884&postcount=14
As far as I can tell the reason is that ASOP roms do not have an option for WAP 2.0 (which is what Optus use) only IPv4 & IPv6.
Essentially you remove "mms" from the "type" in the MMS APN. Then you can actually select the MMS APN. Now you need to manually swap APNs whenever you want to use DATA or MMS. Annoying, but it works for me anyway...
Hello. I got my mom a OP3, as an upgrade from her Nexus 5. A couple problems surfaced and I haven't been able to solve them.
1. She cannot receive MMS messages. I understand this has to do with APN settings, but we're both on ST AT&T, and have been for years, and I've updated the APN settings on her OP3 to be the same as what we've both been using for a few years, and picture messages still don't come through. Instead, she gets a message telling her to 'Tap to download'. I cannot find anything in Hangouts' or Google's Messenger's settings menus that are wrong. I have auto-retrieve MMS toggled on, and having roaming (although that's not the case) enabled in the phones Cellular data settings.
2. Messenger keeps taking over as the default SMS app. She uses Hangouts for SMS/MMS, and every time I pick up her phone, it's back to being Messenger as the default SMS app. I went in and disabled Messenger in an attempt to get it to stick.
Any ideas on these two problems?
If you go into messenger, click on the 3 dots, then go to advanced, and you should see an option in there to automatically download MMS messages. As for the APNs, have you tried searching to see if there is an updated one?

As stated in the OP, I've already set Messenger and/or Hangouts to automatically download pictures. There isn't an updated APN that I know of. I am using the same APN settings on ST and I'm able to get mms and pictures just fine.
Am I really the only one seeing these problems?
For messenger go to your profile > sms > turn off the sms in messenger.
