Question Swiping bottom to top - iQOO 9

Hi everyone,
Ive been searching for a way to alter the gesture but i can't seem to find it. Would gladly have it the same as a samsung (just normal android feature) phone where you'd open the apps overview instead of nanokits.

[Q] First time ICS/Nexus user group of questions that have been asked before

I imagine many of these questions have been asked before but I didn't see a FAQ so I thought I'd compose a list of questions that I think others such as myself (inane) might ask upone their first use of the GN.
1. Can I move the google search at the top to another location or make it the size of a single app shortcut?
2. Can I move the apps shortcut at the bottom from the center to the right.
3. Is there a toggle button/shortcut/widget i can put on my desktop that easily allows you to switch from 4G to 3G (and 3G to 4G) without going through the settings? - preferrably right at the very top where the indicators are - I'd like to put an on off for wifi up there too.
4. Why does Voicemail take so long each time I open it - says Please wait- Verifying your account information this may take a minute - I have already configured my voice greeting and my personal name and a security code.
5. How do I get the configure menu in apps - I used to click on something that looked like the top half of a paper with a few lines on it - I want to customize some settings withing some apps but don't know how to get there. - Found that while asking this question - far right bottom of the screen - within an app a few dots like a : with an extra dot.
6. I want to change the way the screen lock works. I typically hold the phone in my right hand and want to unlock swipe it with my thumb. My thumb would much better swipe from bottom middle to top right corner of the screen - not directly across. Silly question I know but I don't want to have to use two hands to unlock my phone.
7. I heard there was a tweak for cranking up the volume - does that require rooting?
This is in reference to stock:
1. No
2. No
3, No
4. Dunno, I use Google Voice.
Thanks for the quick answer.
I don't see a shortcut for google voice - all I want to do is listen to my voicemails, know when I have them (e.g. number count on the icon). Is google voice something I need to install?

It's a static search bar at the top across home screens. You can definitely change this if you're rooted. But you can change this without rooting if you use a home screen replacement app such as Nova Launcher (play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.launcher).
2. Can I move the apps shortcut at the bottom from the center to the right.

Again, you can't do this in stock as adrynalyne said, but you can if you use something like Nova Launcher.

There's no built in shortcut for toggling this option. If you have an app like Tasker (costs money), or some shortcut creator, you ought to be able to do this. You can always search for LTE or 4G toggle in Google Play (Android Market) if you just want this singular function.
4. Why does Voicemail take so long each time I open it - says Please wait- Verifying your account information this may take a minute - I have already configured my voice greeting and my personal name and a security code.

I'm not sure why this is happening, but if you use Google Voice, you should be able to see via notifications and/or widget whether you have a voicemail or not. It is a separate app installable from Google Play (play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.googlevoice&hl=en).
5. How do I get the configure menu in apps - I used to click on something that looked like the top half of a paper with a few lines on it - I want to customize some settings withing some apps but don't know how to get there. - Found that while asking this question - far right bottom of the screen - within an app a few dots like a : with an extra dot.

The menu button has been switched in ICS to a conceptual options bar. Some apps still use the menu function as you described with : and an extra dot.
6. I want to change the way the screen lock works. I typically hold the phone in my right hand and want to unlock swipe it with my thumb. My thumb would much better swipe from bottom middle to top right corner of the screen - not directly across. Silly question I know but I don't want to have to use two hands to unlock my phone.

Not sure how to configure the lock screen to your liking, but WidgetLocker (play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.widgetlocker) might help serve your needs.
Thanks -
I just noticed the indicator at the top - I was using the Smith Micro voicemail app, but I like it better than the default so when someone blurts out information like a different phone number I can playback just that part of the message.

[Q] Removing/Changing the apps in the bottom row of the home screen

Hi there,
Just got a new Galaxy Tab 3 10.1. There's a line of apps installed below the page/panel indicator on the home screens, with a bunch of (to me) ill chosen apps. But I can't drag them off the screen to delete them, like I can the ones above the page indicator. I can't find any mention of what this apparently separate panel is called to search better.
Of interest, are people happy with their purchase of one of these? So far I'm finding it pretty ordinary - not horrible, just ordinary...

Just drag the apps on the lower part of your home screen to the upper part where it says delete. then you can go to your apps and drag them to the lower part of your home screen to add them in the dock
If you're saying about the lock screen then I don't know
Hi!
I'm pretty happy with the tab 10.1! With the latest OTA update it runs even smoother! The runtime is great, can handle up to 5 days with daily usage without charging. I received my leather case today, a 360° case.. I can put it horizontal or vertical and it "wakes up" when i open the case.
With that prize its an absolutely recommendation.

Hi there,
On the default home page, there's two large widgets on the top (weather and news). Below that there's a Google search bar. Below that there's a row of shortcuts. These all behave normally. Below that there's the page/panel indicator (telling you which home page you're on) and then at the bottom there's another row of shortcuts. It's that last, bottom row that I'm having trouble with. They don't seem to act normally - I can't drag them off to delete as normal. They appear to be hardwired. They are not the choice I would select and I want to change them.
Are other people able to delete these shortcuts?
Thanks!

I have the same problem. I'm tired of reading the answer "click and hold then drag it up". It seems to be the stock answer on all forums. They won't move! No matter what I do, the ridiculous row of apps bottom most on the screen is stuck. There's no help for this in the help app/widget. Someone must know how to unlock these darn things. I want to replace them with ones I use regularly.

Qranparoger,
Unfortunately that is the correct answer of click and hold and move. I just did it to mine and I can move two of the three apps I have in the bottom row. The only one that cannot move is APPS. My SETTINGS and FIREFOX can both be moved to the main screen above the bottom row.
My tab is rooted, but uses stock rom. There is nothing special about what I have done. I checked settings to see if I had changed a display or security function but I do not see anything. I do remember when I first got the tab that I too was having problems. But I do remember solving it and removing the bottom row (except APPS) and rearranging the icons or deleting the icons.
It think that maybe it might be in the APPLICATION MANAGER in SETTINGS that you "Turn Off" the app and it might vanish from the bottom of the screen. Again, I cannot remember how I did it but it can be done.

Latest ROM update - still can't change the apps. My tab isn't rooted, and I couldn't be bothered to now. I don't necessarily want to "turn off" the apps, just not use my precious home screen space. Anyway, I solved the problem by buying a Nexus. Yep, free Samsung is just collecting dust, piece of rubbish... Before anyone rages on me, there's a bunch of reasons I didn't like the Samsung, not just this one thing.

[Q] Few Questions!

Hello, I just bought Note 4 and me previous phone was Note 1! Its a big change but some stuff isn't in Note 4 or maybe i dont know how to use it yet
First I want to use customized widgets on lock screen, I could do that in jellybean but in kitkat i cant put any widgets on lock screen and there I tried to Google it but couldn't find any options called "enable lock widgets" in security settings, its not there!
and I dont want to use and thrid party softwares like lockgo
2nd question is about S-Note software, in Note 1 I could type some mathematical equations, i dont see this option anymore in Note 4, and I could make Squares and Circles manually which isn't available too
That is a huge leap!
I don't know about lockscreen widgets, as I never liked, nor used, them, but my guess is Samsung ditched them because they won't be in Android 5.0. Instead, we'll get notifications on the lockscreen, which I think will be infinitely more useful. I do know how to get S Note to recognize formulas, though:
Open S Note. Write a formula with the S-pen (or your fingers). Then, select it using the selection tool at the top. (It will tell you which tools are which if you hover the S-pen over them.) Then, click Transform Into when the menu pops up. Finally, click formula.
Ok thanks for the answers, i have one more question
I could use a wide wallpaper and when you move your home screen it extends to far right and left so you could see more of the wallpaper but now its always fixed picture,I tried to use some other software from Play but none of them worked

You're welcome, and as far as I know, it would take root to change that. Maybe someone else knows something, though.

Setting default home screen

Coming from a HTC One, I was able to create additional home screens to the left and right of my default home screen. This is great because you don't have to keep swiping to get to apps. For example, if I had three home screens with the default in the middle, I can swipe left for one page of apps and right for another right off the default screen. Now with Marshmallow, if I have three screens, it seems the default is always the furthest left, and I would have to swipe twice to get to the third page. Extra swipes/layers aren't too efficient from a UI experience perspective. Anyone see a way to re-order/set defaults or will I need to make a feature request?
Added feature request, vote/star if you like it: https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=191212

I think the reasoning for that is to keep Google Now one swipe to the right.

Might be the reason but I don't use Google Now so wish it was user preference.

So then why not use a launcher like Nova Launcher if you don't swipe to Google Now? It's stock-like with extra features.

Sort of getting back OnePlus gestures

So I was investigating a little about the matter, I noticed that
A) albeit not visible, it was in the settings app's layouts as gesture_navigation_bar_deprecated
in op_navigation_bar_gestures_settings.xml
B) it had settings(op_gesture_button_side_enabled and others) I could manipulate through adb
What I have found out:
If you run
adb shell settings put system op_gesture_button_side_enabled 0
the back gesture gets put back to the bottom edge. However it isn't all good, as the assistant gesture stays in the corner, and the home/appswitcher gesture gets triggered a lot too, when using the back gesture.
I hope someone has an idea how to improve on this, as in its current form it is highly useless, and I wouldn't recommend it.
OMG PLEASE keep investigating this. i am desparate to change back to old Oneplus gestures!!
What's the benefit to the OnePlus gestures?

The back gestures is from bottom edge either side, so it doesn't conflict with almost every app as Google's implementation does

Interesting but it could be code that has not been cleaned up, it may disappear in a future release.
If you want old OnePlus gestures, you can use : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xda.nobar
With option "Split the pill in 3" and "Hide navbar", you can have (and customize) the same old OnePlus gestures.

Ohhhhhh, in that case IDK why they took that away cause Google's gestures definitely gets in the way. It takes some getting used to.

I wouldn't mind Google's if it was just on lower half of the screen or even just on the right side. I wonder if we can modify this.

Actually if you do a curve swipe, where it seems like you're swiping on the edge a but, it opens the hamburger menu and does not trigger back. Takes time to get used to, but once you do, it's just never misses anymore.

Yeah I do that, but it doesn't always work, for example Discord starts scrolling so this doesn't work 50% of the time
Yeah I can't stand Google's just a navigation I love the old one plus full screen navigation gestures and the reason I'm still on the OnePlus 6t is because I really don't want to lose that option.

But then you lose assistant, which isn't ideal either. Don't really have time for investigating further, hope by the time I do it won't be necessary.

I just read on offical OnePlus forums about the L-shaped gesture to open the hamburger menus. Just swipe a little bit down on the left side and then to the right. It will open the hamburger menu and works from top to bottom. Another method is using the two finger swipe from the left border to the right. I'm quite pleased with this solution. It's a pitty they don't documented it in the changelog.
Of course is Fluid Navigation a nice solution to get more advanced gestures.
For anyone interested in adding Motorola's fantastic chop for flashlight and twist for camera I recommend this app
https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...vitygestures-moto-actions-alike-t3383760/amp/
It lets you program five different motion gestures to any app and even allows you to fine-tune it. The only caveat is for the gesture to work you have to turn your screen on first. You don't have to unlock it. I just press the side the button then do gesture.
The closest thing to Motorola's far superior gusture and navagation. I wish the OEMs would just scrap theirs and go with Motorola's.

Another way of doing this (which is what I usually do now) is to tap and hold on the very edge of the screen until the side menu peeks out. Then slide it open.
