I recently got my Fold3 and I'm loving it except for one really annoying issue: my wifi keeps turning off, 90% of the time I turn on my phone the wifi is turned off.
I have already tried disabling turn on wifi automatically and the wifi power savin mode, I have also reset the network settings and it still does it.
A couple of times today while I was trying to fix the issue I would go, turn on the wifi, then start looking at the menus just to realize that the wifi turned itself off within 10-20 seconds of me turning it on.
I have searched but apparently there is no previous threads about this.
Thanks
Vinny
This problem is very similar to the "bluetooth issue" that some users are having
Have you tried to keep your phone closed and see if wifi goes off too ?
Or is this only happening when you unfold it ?
Does it happen when you're on every Wi-Fi network or only your home network?

Maybe you should consider doing a factory reset .
Not ideal , as you will have to set it up all again , but... best way to know if its a hardware or software issue
use Nice Catch to see what is changing the settings on your phone.
do you have any bixby routines running?

That rules out a network issue then.

Yes, i have noticed this on mine at work. Will see if it does the same thing at home.
interesting problem can more people confirm?
maybe this is related to this other case? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1313800
My guess is it needs to toggle so you can recieve calls. When we get Wi Fi calling then it will be fixed.

yup, mine does this as well. just got it a few days ago. seems like when the screen turns off, the wifi turns off with it. every time I unlock the phone, I see the wifi icon come on and connect automatically. and YES, I have checked the wifi sleep options. wifi is set to NEVER turn off.
Also it sometimes completely disconnects from my router and I have to turn wifi off and on again to reconnect.
hopefully this gets resolved with the next update.
concering the issue if you look in your wifi settings and you see it scanning every 2-3 seconds, would this fix it? i remember a developer had made this adjustment to the buildprop when i owned an optimus V.
Changed wifi supplicant scan interval to 60
I know I had a problem with WIFI dropping every few minutes and disconnecting/reconnecting all the time. Causing streaming issues, internet issues and freeze issues if on lockscreen. Well, I have fixed this for myself and wanted to share.
To insure this doesn't happen, just follow these steps:
1. Dial *#0011#
2. Hit the left menu softkey to bring up the menu, and select 'Wifi'
3. Turn OFF the 'Wifi Power Saving'
4. Exit, and Reboot.
Ever since then, I haven't had issues. I am on AT&T GS3. If you are having this issue, please report back here with your model and if this fix worked.
Just trying to help. Good day all!
I'm not entirely certain this was happening, but had noticed some oddities. Not as bad as your experience, however.
But I did make the change to see how it would affect battery life. I am on the Sprint network.

I don't have issues at home but I do with the WiFi at work so I'll try it tomorrow and let you know how it works out. It disconnects and reconnects every 5 seconds and I'm not exaggerating either.
I think the WAP may be a little wonky but my HTC Desire HD had no problem with it.
Mine turned back on after reboot as well.

I am working through logcats as well. I reverted the setting to mimic the problem, and I am going to look at logcats.
If I can see what is exactly triggering it, I will make a flashable fix.
In the meantime, I have another S3 here that I have the power save off on and I still haven't seen a drop yet. So preliminary, I think this is a temporary fix until I can find out root problem.
Hope you find a fix

I have a similar problem. Mine doesn't disconnect per-se, however I did notice while browsing through Flipboard that I wasn't getting any signal sometimes when trying to access a page with a lot of content. Page loading came to a stop. Backed out several times and retried until I finally gave up. This was on my home wifi. I'll try your work-around for a few days. T-Mobile version.
EDIT: This may be just a FlipBoard quirk.
I will try this when I get home. I have a problem on my Sprint SGS3 where it stays connected to wifi but the internet won't actually work (can't browse internet, use play store or youtube, etc). Wifi never sleeps, it's always on. It never disconnects from the network, it just stops receiving and sending data. So we'll see if this does anything for it.
you guys dont have an issue where the display doesnt timeout after turning off the power save?
display won't time out from turning off the wifi power save. Totally unrelated. I am trying to mimic the problem right now.
If anyone is having the issues of the reconnnecting every few seconds and can logcat it for me, PM me please. I can't seem to mimic the problem since the fix.

Turning off power save does indeed fix the WiFi issue at work. As posted before, restarting the phone turns power save back on and the problem is back.

PM sent.
Going through multiple logcats now.
I am seeing even with power saving on though, the problem is still there. It is still disconnecting from WIFI and going back to the data network.
I am sifting through ALOT of code, as some of these log cats are extremely long.
Give me til tonight and I should have a reason at least to why it's doing it by comparing on vs off on powersave.
I have a request, anyone WITHOUT this issue, can you send me a logcat with your WIFI turned on?

Thanks for this. I was about to return the phone because I kept losing ability to connect to any WAPs after sleep mode kicked in. Mine is a Verizon S3.
I've seen this as well. Almost always after deep sleep. Most of the time I have to cycle Wifi to get it connected again every so once in awhile it will connect again on its own. Regardless of the settings that I put in "advanced" under wifi it will do this. Even if I have it set to keep alive never, always or plugged in it doesn't matter.
I still need a logcat from someone NOT having these issues.
Right now from looking through over 10 logcats, I am seeing that it's usually happening on routers that are encrypted with WEP and WPA, unfortunately the 2 most popular forms of wireless security.
That being said, users that are on 'open' networks do not seem to be losing access.
2 things.
1. Can someone PM me a logcat of them successfully connecting to wifi and NOT having drops. I don't care how long the logcat is.
2. When you post about your problems, please tell me what carrier and what type of encryption is being used on the router (if any)
I have been comparing and in each instance, WIFI is going into sleep, turning on data, and then having a problem turning back on.
I think it's an attempt to save power, but only it is not because switching from WIFI to data back to WIFI so much is a real drainer.
Still working on maybe disabling the power save by using a init.d script, to prevent power save mode from coming back on when rebooted, because I know alot of users are saying after disabling it, it is just reapplying on reboot.
BACK TO LOGCATS FOR ME. :/

Hello,
After updating from CM9 to CM10 I started facing wifi issue. My phone works normally for 1-3 days, and then wifi stops working. If I go to wifi settings, it says "Searching for Wi-Fi Networks". Also, wifi cannot be turned off. After reboot wifi operates normally for some time until this glitch happens again.
I thought it was CM-related issue, but some people say they have faced this issue even with stock JB.
Do you have this issue? How can it be fixed?
Toggle airplane mode.

No idea on how to fix it, i have it too.
It's not happening too frequently to bother me.
Is there ; Support connect to wireless network by QSS (Quick Security Setup)??
for this build patch?
I have this exact same problem on CM10. I did a full wipe and the problem remains
I will keep searching for a solution, but I really hope someone can tell us more information as to what the cause might be.

Same thing here- wifi disconnects after while, when phone is standby...No matter of power profile or wifi settings- sooner or later it turns wifi off. Can't use therefore "Profile Flow" wifi based features ( turn BT off, when at home wifi). I keeps turning BT on/off in some period of time, I can see it in Profile Flow history...As soon as I take the phone and unlock the screen, the BT is on again, then wifi connects and BT goes off...
It happens to my phone too.. I guess you can't fix it unless there is some app that can fix this but my guess is that its saving battery life on our android phones..

The power manager should be on "normal" mode. "Smart" mode would instead turn off iinternet on screen off. Also in wifi settings, make sure it set proper.

stupid wifi problem
Isn't this an Android problem, instead of Huawei's?
WiFi disconnection during deep sleep is an Android problem, since God knows when.
That's why there are apps (such as REGPON wifi KeepAlive) out there to ping websites to "warm" the connection, at the expense of battery.
I programmed a macro using E-Robot to do this. My connection never drops. Mine is B111.
