I have my G2 for over 2 years now. It was originally bought from US Tmo, and I was travelling a lot to Poland. Since I was "good" customer they send me unlock codes when I asked and on my trips I was using Polish Orange pre-paids with data and everything was working fine (actually I was doing same with G1 for well over 2 previous years). I moved to Poland and my phone was still working OK, but at some point data connection was permanently lost (only cell data - WiFi works fine): phone tries to connect at various speeds (icon cycles) but no connection or data transfer is established. Tried that on my old G1 and same thing happens. I went to Orange and they checked my settings, phone, sim card and found nothing - they even replaced my SIM card (for free), but still the same - they got no other suggestions.
So I decided to root my phone (in hope it will solve problem) and installed different rom (CM7). No change - I tried to install different radios - no change.
I noticed that my data connection stopped working around time when TMobile got into Poland. So my question is if it is possible that Orange started blocking something (tmo phones) - if possible what could indicate to orange that my phone is tmo (it is rooted). Maybe there is something else I can try to change/flash or it might be totally different problem - like they started using both frequencies simultaneously and US phones have only 2100 in common?
Would appreciate any help. Of course I can try to switch to tmo or other carrier, but I like my number and a lot of people have it and with prepaid it is almost impossible to switch to other prepaid and not to loose number - and I don't want any contracts.
APN's?
Could it have something to do with the APN's for the data side of the phone? Have you looked into those values (for both Orange and T-mobile) to see which one you have?
You must change APN configuration
Hi all,
My problem is that my Galaxy S3 (i747M) cannot make or receive phone calls*, but I can send or receive most SMS**, and my LTE data is fine***. I've tested to ensure it's not my account with Rogers, or my SIM card. I took my SIM card and put it in two other phones, and both worked just fine (one Rogers, one Telus). Putting their SIMs into my phone and the same problem as with my own SIM in my phone. I have unlocked my S3 using the 4.2 trick, but I didn't have this problem back then. I'm assuming this isn't causing me issues now.
I used asterisks because each of the above has some additional details:
* I cannot reliably make and receive phone calls. For example, I can try calling the same phone number (home) 10 times, and it may only go out once. From my home phone I can try calling my cell phone 25 times and only get through once. Every time my calls out fail, it either sits at "Dialing..." for 30 seconds before ending in "Call Ended 0:00" or just immediately drops the call without the 30 seconds of "Dialing...".
** Most of the time I can send and receive SMS from any other cell phone. Occasionally a message won't send out even though I have 4/5 signal bars. Resending the message works. Not sure if this is related to my issues with calling.
*** LTE data is fine (using LTE APN). Switching away from LTE to just 4G/H+ and data is a bit spotty. Sometimes it connects, sometimes it doesn't. LTE always connects just fine.
I've tried all sorts of flashing and reflashing:
- problem started when I was on S3Rx 4.0, but I never thought much of it because most calls went through fine
- problem got worse when I was on Lollipop (CyanideL), progressively so
- used Odin to flash stock NF2 (downloaded from Sammobile site), was no different than when I was on Lollipop (CyanideL)
- used Kies to flash stock N__ (forgot exactly which one), still no different
- flashed different bootloaders and modems
- while in stock NF2 firmware, went into *#2263# and made sure it was set to Automatic.
So any ideas what problem this is? I just find it extremely odd that calls almost always fail, yet SMS and data aren't a problem. Of course, when my SIM is in another phone (Nexus 5 on Telus, Galaxy S5 on Rogers) I was able to do everything without any problems: calls, SMS, and data.
Thoughts as to what this could be? Is this a hardware issue? If it's software, what could it be? My warranty's out and I'm willing to flash anything or pop the phone open (already have to make sure antenna isn't disco'd).
Thanks!
Have you tried the fob1 firmware? It's the latest kk release for the Canadian s3.
Yup, that's the firmware I'm currently on. Downloaded it from SamMobile, flashed via Odin. I'm literally running the stock firmware right now, no root, only TWRP as recovery so I can more easily flash any modems or bootloaders (vs using fastboot).
OK, so further to this issue, I contacted Rogers technical support. Spent about half an hour on the phone with the tech, went through a few things:
1. He reset my voice account, didn't help
2. Had me search in the "Network Operators" list, no networks ever show up
3. Had me use my old phone (Nexus S, network unlocked) to ensure that it's not my account. All tests with the Nexus S went fine.
4. Had me test different network bands. Bingo!
The phone can place and receive calls when I set the network mode to 2G only (or GSM only). 3 out of 3 calls came in, 3 out of 3 calls went out. Then again later we tested incoming and outgoing calls, still on the 2G network.
So technically problem solved, but realistically not really. I am able to get voice, text, and data (solved!), but I'm paying for a LTE data package and should at least be getting 3G mad.
Any idea why my phone would be working on the 2G network and not on the other ones (3G, H+, LTE)?
This is crazy but the baseband and modem are one fob1? I know you said you flashed a stock rom but it may be worth checking.
My niece is using an unlocked bell s3 on Rogers and she has no problem with voice, data, or text when setting the network to wcdma only or wcdma/LTE.
Yes! Both Baseband (modem) and bootloader are the same. I just downloaded Phone Info (Samsung) to check this, and they both report being FOB1.
Now here's something that's irking me quite a bit. I only just discovered this and do not know if it is of consequence to my problem: I have no PDA or CSC version and Latest Firmware is reporting "Not Found" in the Firmware tab of Phone Info. I've attached a screenshot so you can all see what I mean. Is that normal?
Is phone running a custom rom?
That's right, I just restored a NANdroid of CyanideL (5.1.1).
So this also happens on a stock fob1 rom too?
I am almost tempted to say it may be a hardware issue.
That's right. This happens with a custom ROM (e.g. CyanideL, 5.1.1) as well as a stock ROM that's been freshly flashed via Odin (FOB1, 4.4.2). When flashing with Odin, I'm doing a full wipe via TWRP. Wiping /data partition as well.
I'm inclined to believe this is also a hardware issue, but it just seems bass ackwards in that I can get everything (minus LTE) working while on 2G, but I lose voice access if I move up beyond 2G. I could understand if I couldn't get any voice, SMS, or data, but that going down to 2G solves all my problems... it just seems weird!
Can you try the phone on another carrier? This would probably be the final test you could do. Sounds like you have tried everything.
Yup, tried that earlier on, when I tested my SIM card in some friends' phones (one on Rogers, one on Telus), and while doing that also tested their SIM cards in my phone. With their SIM cards in my phone, the same problem happens as when I'm using my own SIM card.
Gah! It's frustrating, but something I can live with for now until I can get a new phone. I just still can't get over the "everything's fine" on 2G, but moving up to 3G or beyond and I completely lose voice. A colleague of mine has the same phone and the same plan, bought only a month or two before I bought mine. He's got no problems at all with LTE and voice. Although he was on the unofficial CM 12.1 nightlies (5.1.1), I don't think that would have any perceivable difference than when I was on CyanideL 15.x (also 5.1.1).
Sorry, I did not find the correct forum for a Samsung a3 2015.
I have an a3 2015 that's not finding any network, I suspect the simcard en card reader is functioning because when I start the phone it asks me for my pincode and I'm able the login to the phone.
It has a valid imei, but when i try to call it says "unable the register on network"
Has anybody seen this problem before and knows how to fix it ?
That could be caused by, including but not limited to: Low signal strength (ignore signal bars, phones could select other MNOs and measure that), bands in coverage are not supported by the phone, tower or its backhaul is down for maintenance (or failure), IMEI/SIM (ask your mobile network operator anyway), circuit switching is not supported or out of coverage of the mobile network operator, the CSC in your ROM is not applied correctly for (packet switched) VoLTE (if the mobile network operator supports it on your device), antenna failure, the wrong mobile network operator is manually selected in the network settings, too much interference from neighbour cells on the same channel, bad reselection/handover, the signal has been 'echoed' too much, too far away from the tower for the timing advance, too far away from the tower for the RACH parameters.
Probably not...
Device is locked to LTE only. Or locked in some other way.
1. try to put your simcard on different phone. is it work? if yes, so your sim card reader is broken
2. have u reset your device to its default state? if yes and still the same, u have to reflash the whole rom through ODIN. if u haven't try it, do it now.
3. use another simcard on your phone, see the signal bar, is it there? if no signal, then the answer could be on the number 1 / 2.
4. what u did until u lost your signal?
I've tried the simcard in another phone, it's working.
Can the simcard reader be broken, even if it asks for a sim pincode ?
The phone was working until they pushed some updates, i've tried a factory reset but without success.
I've been reading on forums the problem could be a QCN file or a cert file ?
Is this also replaced when reflash the phone ? ( new a this, so I don't want to brick the phone.)
Where can I find the correct firmware ? Is it country related or just a300fu is fine ?
The thing i find weird about it is the phone is not showing no signal icon without the simcard insert (first icon on the link)
But shows a gray singal icon (like the second icon on the link but completely gray, without the bars).
http://newsandguides.com/samsung-galaxy-s3-android-notification-bar-icon-guide/)
update: when I turn airplane mode on and off, the signal icon is showing signal bars without a sim card insert.
Nobody that can guide me to the correct firmware ?

You know the phone's model. For the CSC (country),
Use the one in your phone, there are apps to read CSC or use "getprop ro.csc.sales_code" in a terminal emulator.
Use the one of your current location/mobile network operator, the displayed 'location the CSC belongs to' on CSCs might not be accurate. It might not apply correctly.
Use a different one, but some apps might be customized differently, there are indeed some cellular configurations but it's mostly higher features, not basic functionality (though there are some). It might not apply correctly.
For the version, try an upgrade or the same version. Open the stock recovery to fully apply the CSC. For downgrades, the number in the middle of the firmware version can't be reduced. If a downgrade causes the loss of cellular, wipe data or return to the previous firmware.
In most cases I highly do not recommend attempting to restore the EFS, flashing PIT, or downgrading to Lollipop on A 2015.
The signal bars being 'blank' after an insert might be because the tower is simply distant. Calls could work on another phone if the bands (or selected RAT on the phone - 2G/3G/4G) of a nearby tower or VoLTE/VoWiFi is supported. Appears without a SIM, or could be suddenly raised with the SIM, might be because the phone has selected other mobile network operators (not related to your SIM), for measurement and limited use... you can view the transition here *#0011#, there are a few others like this but it should be enough, it is MCC(country)MNC(operator), also called PLMN ID. For the signal strength, while your mobile network operator is selected, RSSI is the signal strength of that channel, RSCP and RSRP is approximately the signal strength of the cell not canceled out by interference, ecio, ecno, rsrq, sinr, rxqual are signal quality.
Maybe the spectrum of the previously good tower has been refarmed (the frequencies previously used on 2G is now on 4G for example), or anything above, or an update somehow broke band support.
Before modifying firmware, try moving around, to connect to other cell towers of the mobile network operator of the SIM, the current band should be in 0011, check which bands your MNO uses, the list of bands the phone supports are on the internet. If for some reason the plmn id isn't in 0011 there are apps to display it.
I found out that *#0011# gives you access to the service menu.
q0000 should give access to the network modes, but this is not working, is there an other code a should use to get access to the network modes menu ?

q0000 probably does not apply to Android Lollipop and above. On lollipop and above, it's *#2263# for band selection, marshmallow, *#2683662# (and others), for channel selection and all that, even fewer on Nougat, even fewer on Oreo. Root might be required, but those codes are available in some CSCs (mostly US carrier ones) for some devices without root. Compare *_keystrings.dat in /system/etc.
For the other kind of network mode, also known as rat (radio access technology), 2g/3g/4g, apps might be able to open 4636 without root, there's the full selection.
Tried both codes but without result ...
The phone is running Android 6.01
Not registered on Network
Hi, I have the same problem with my samsung galaxy a3 2015. I tried several ways to fix it such as flashing stockrom, factory reset And even then tried a custom roms but still have this issue. This issue can be only Fixed by replacing network I.C to a New one.
Its only the problem of network i.c .
hello, friends. Specially those who are worried about the so many problems with signal moto g5 users face. Im here asking for help. i have a moto g5 (cedric) i was working almost fine with oreo stock. i say almost because some times when i lost signal it didnt recover like any other phone woud, i had to reboot. now from almost a week ago i had lost signal and now i only have 4g. no 3G and no 2G, so no voice calls going out nor incoming ones. i ve done hard resets, flashing stock 7.0 and going back to stock 8.1 and nothing. on saw 3g for a little moment coming back to oreo. i also flashed carbon rom wich is android 9.0 to see if a custom rom helped but it didnt. i only have internet now and sms. and this is very frustrating. ive checked persist folder and everything is correct there. i have my imei right, this phone is like new but not being able to call is like not having a phone at all. also why i have to reboot to recover missing signal? is just a pain. this moto phones are really problematic when it comes to Signal management.
things to consider too: im currently on stock oreo, just rooted to be able to check if persist folder was correct and to backup efs folder. also my operator uses 900mhz band as 2g and 3g wich is an european frecuency not common in latin america. maybe that has something to do with problems im facing. the rom has cedric_latam_cust as the baseband. can anyone help me find one frome europe? im wondering if flashing one from there could help. the weird thing is that it was working before with that baseband.
so many people losing 4g, i could be glad if that was my case and had 2g and 3g only with full internet and calling capabilities.
im sorry i know it is a little bit too much information. but i really need the help

You could get your country firmware from here.
https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/cedric/official/
And don't flash older version firmwares as it will brick your device.and you should try a different sim card in your device to know if there is a problem in sim card or the device.

Thank you friend. I was able to download and flash an euro rom. Just to find that the baseband was not changed after flashing it. I even tried erasing modem and reloading non_hlos but I still have latam baseband on settings.

Not at all. I'm still having 4g only. As I mentioned before, in status it is still showing the same baseband that was in first place. One from Latin America. But I was trying to get it changed to an Europe one by fishing a new rom from O2. But it didn't change.

Maybe you could try changing the radio band in phone app.
Dial *#*#4636#*#* then phone info then select radio band which give you calls.

Maybe you should try pixel experience ROM(pie) or retin firmware as I was on retin and I got many choices such as Europe, United States, some frequency. Maybe you should try pixel experience first as it going fix network problem many times, then you can try retin firmware.

In my country we have 3 mobile operators. Movistar won't work (don't know why), the other works perfect on my phone. Mine from a week ago only work 4g. This afternoon it worked 3g but when I rebooted it stopped. Only 4g again. So no calls.
The first screenshot is with 3g and no signal
The other 2 is when rebooted having activated 4g

It seems the problem is API as you are getting 4g but no calls then it could probably API only, try editing the API or creating a new one. You can get the API configuration from the internet or the device which you get calls.

Did you try a different sim card in the device, does it working??? And does your service provider support LTE over call??? If it doesn't then change the preferred network type to LTE/CDMA/UMTS auto(prl). And switch your sim card to sim slot 2.

Hello everyone, first of all I would like to apologize because I am French and I don't speak English very well, but I think you are my last hope for the trouble I am currently experiencing.
I own a Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ (SM-N975F) with a Rom Surcouche Operator Bouygues Telecom :
- N975FXXU4CTE9/N975FBOG4CTE9/N975FXXU4CTE9
I wanted to remove my Bouygues Telecom Rom Operator to install a Samsung Rom Stock without any overlayer operator. The operation is well finished so I am now on the Samsung Rom Stock:
- N975FXXS6DTI5/N975FOXM6DDTH7/N975FXXS6DTI5
Except that since this change of Rom I have almost no more 4G+ where I live knowing that before I was always in 4G+ So I would like to know why just by having changed the Rom I lost my 4G+. ( Worries which lasts since September 21st, 2020 ) I wanted to go back but I passed from a bootloader 4 to a bootloader 6
Knowing that I'm with the Free operator, I tested my Free SIM card in my wife's Samsung, I'm getting 4G+ so the problem is not my SIM card, I also sent my phone to Samsung, the phone has no hardware anomaly so it's from the change of Rom, I tried to reinstall the same problem, I also made the wipe I tried everything ...
I also have at home a 4G+ router with a 4G+ plan with the operator Free and I am in 4G+ at full speed ...
I hope to get some help from you because on the French forums I don't have a single answer ... Thanks in advance for your help and sorry again for my english
Test the internet speed on both phones using your sim's data plan with speedtest. If the speed is the same in both then the problem of the 4G indicator is only aesthetic.
Hello bigcalvin, unfortunately I have tested but the speed is not the same at all in 4G+ I go up to 235Mb/s while in H+ I go up to 3Mb/s so there is no problem with the 4G indicator

Have you tried in different areas? What it seems like, is that the stock Samsung ROM is not compatible with your carrier. With system on a chip (SoC), carriers can turn off bands that they don't need, or as a means of locking you into their network.

Honestly I'm not going to lie to you I've tried everything I've tried a Bouygues télécom rom (bog) a SFR rom (sfr) a France télécom rom (ftm) and a Samsung stock France rom (xef) with my old Bouygues télécom rom (bog) bootloader 4 I always get the 4G+ since I changed my rom and I switched to bootloader 6 I never get the 4G/4G+ again and I sometimes get the 4G+ logos but there are 10 seconds left and then switch to the H+. ..
Hello, sorry for the double post but I don't know where to find help you wouldn't have a solution to my problem? Thanks in advance
I don't understand anything anymore on this phone knowing that my wife and at free and I can receive the 4g very well. I have a 4g router, I can receive the 4g free and my phone since the update doesn't receive anything anymore, I have to go out of my house and walk a good 100 meters to hope to receive the 4g whereas I didn't have this problem before I made the really strange update...
No one would have a solution to give me or manipulation to do I take all the information.
Try a "reset network settings" if you haven't already.
Clear the system cache on the boot menu; it never hurts to do so.
Hi, thank you for your answer unfortunately I have already reset the network settings I have also done the factory settings system cache also reinstallation of a new rom I had to do it about twenty times but still nothing :/

Yeah pretty basic stuff... that's all I got
Most likely a settings issue but you probably know more than myself at this point to troubleshoot this problem.
Try doing Google searches and view the results for other Samsung phone models and years.
Most times I can find a solution like this or trip over it as an indirect result while searching.
Some of the Samsung software issues have been around for years...
I've already searched everything on google I'm French I've searched on English forums and everything but I can't find anything at all.
I am in France with the mobile operator "Free" which uses the frequencies 700mhz/1800mhz/2600mhz I would like to know if there is a possibility on this phone to choose the frequency that I want one by one I have the impression that it is my 700mhz frequency that has a problem on my phone :/
By using the free App 'Shortcut Master (Lite) from Google Play, you can get access to the Network Settings. In there you can make Band Selection, allowing you to test network connections and performance per band (=frequency) or combinations of bands.
See following thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...guide-hidden-network-settings-exynos-t3995501
Hope this helps!
Hello OnnoJ, unfortunately I have already tested with this application so it doesn't work. However I compared everything with my wife's phone a Samsung so I have exactly the same settings as on her phone ...

I think I've done everything and above all I've tested everything and unfortunately I had Samsung on the phone and they put the blame on the operator whereas as explained above my 4G router and my wife's phone have exactly the same mobile operator so they would have the same problem as me ... ...
I would try to revert to the newest firmware that your carrier uses, just to see if the issue is about the bands, search for the latest firm for your carrier, provided that it is of an equal or higher bootloader version to the one you currently have installed, that is what I would do

CellMapper app allows me to see connection possibilities with the various cell towers and their power.
