UI looks cleaner and neater now. Camera shutter lags also gone. Great update
Yeah I updated it yesterday too.
So far overall phone performance is even better than android 11. More importantly the shutter lag is gone.
I have upgraded my Docomo Sharp Aquos R6 to Andriod 12, and find that the battery drain very fast even the phone is not in use. Anyone has similar experience? It is similar to the very first version of firmware when R6 just released

Just want to remind you that after update, any android phone will heat up and drain battery for minutes/hour, because it reindex the file on the phone, this might even more noticeable if you have plenty of data like me.
Also, since you just clear the google play services and framework data so that you can update, that services will also do plenty of task, re-sync up your photos, etc
in my case, i just plug the phone and leave it connected to wifi for a night, and everything will be fine in the morning. All background task done.

Thx for your reply, but I'd been updated and used it for a few days. The battery drain issue is still here. My R6 is the very first batch which has similar issue with the first few firmware versions. The sitiation was fixed after updating the Carrier Services a few times. For this latest firmware, the problem is not fixed yet.

I see. Have you tried updating the carrier services again ? I got it like, almost every two days, dunno what google is thinking . Have you also check what is actually draining your battery ?
when on android 11, it's actually the stock messaging app that drain my battery, somehow it bugged and keep the phone wake up all the time. I disable it, and use google messages app, and everything is good.
You can use brevent app if you want as well. It can disable any system app or automatically suspend one which already idle more than certain minutes. (Mine set to 30 minutes) All without need of root, just using wireless debugging directly on the phone. I use it to debloat my phone.
Bellow is the list of app which i disabled btw. Mostly is japanese app which you don't need if you live outside japan.

Yes, I hv got all the apps including Carrier Services updated. I checked the battery usage and found that Phone idle and Android System used unreasonable high battery. The R6 becomes warm easily, well, I mean easier than before even I just used it for FB App.

Guys, I'm interested in R7, but it's a long time since I've had a Sharp phone in my hand. Therefore, I would appreciate if you'd share some knowledge about existing R6 with me.
1. What is this fuzz about the update? Isn't it a given to every R6 to receive OTA?
2. Does the phone come with Google? Full packet or minimum framework (GPay, Android Auto Assistant)?
3. Does it have AOS?
4. Can the launcher be replaced (with Nova, for example)?
5. Any problems with bank apps?
6. ADB remove system apps - anybody tried?
Thanks a lot for every answer.

1. R6 is a Japan phone, in which, you can only get OTA by doing some procedures. So you wont be able to be notified for the OTA just like when you use other phone. Not all users know ehere to check for the info about latest update. The info is available only in japanese language. Thus, this is not a fuzz, but rather an informations for fellow users. Especially when we found the update been helpful in fixing some of bugs/annoyance in phone usability.
2. It come with full Google package
3. It's not AOSP. But it still pretty much Vanilla Android, with some extra/japanese region based features added by sharp.
4. Am running NOVA on my R6, straight swap, since the OS setting itself is Vanilla, it's very easy
5. Am using 5 Bank apps and total 10 of financial related apps, all works as intended, verification and elses.
6. No, i didn't tried ADB remove, since i don't find it appealing. I can simply disable unwanted app using Brevent app. And by not removing anything from the OS, i can ensure i always able to get an OTA as well. And because this phone has SD card slot, i do not worry about storage space. Most of my media (Video, Music, Docs) stored in SD Card. 128GB of internal space only used for apps.

Thank you for your really fast and thorough answer. Sorry, I didn't mean to insult with the fuzz, just didn't know the circumstances, I used a lot of kinda exotic phones and always got OTA. But I understand and appreciate every help from the community side. It's always welcome.
I think I got answers to my questions and all are satisfactory. Though under 3 I made a typo, the question was about always on display. And with ADB you don't really remove anything and therefore don't influence OTA, just disable the unwanted bloatware for the primary user.
Thanks again. I suppose that you're satisfied with the phone? And updates are pretty decent too since you've got A12 already?

AOD is not recommended on this phone,
as great as sharp's IGZO OLED screen is, it still lack something compared to samsung's. If you turn on AOD, the screen will have a retention image rather quickly. And, thinking about long term use, i decide to turn it off.
the screen itself is great tho, in term of color rendition, contrast and resolution. The refresh rate is great as well. Sure 240hz is achieved in pseudo way, but in most cases it feel as fluid as it can be. If you find certain app with funny scrolling feeling, i suggest you turn off high speed display mode for those app, so it will stay on 120Hz mode.
Am satisfied with the phone, yes. Especially for the price, and what i got with that price. At the time of buying, any other SD888 phone with similar specs will cost me 1.5-2x than what i spent for this phone. So that affect my expectation for this phone as well (i don't expect the olympic, lol)
Updates is pretty decent, i think, averaging to 1 update every two months, sometimes 1 update each month. More than what i expect from a company who barely have any models sold in my country
Yes my has like image retention already but oddly it only shows up in certain shades of grey, I don't think is fullly burn on though
Hi, I was wondering with theot of good update news how sharps update policy is? How many OS updates will a sharp device get?

Well, since in this case we are buying phone from carrier instead of OEM, so it depends which carrier you choose,
as for Docomo, you can predict from their website,
the phone released in 2019 are still getting update until 2022
while one released in 2017, still getting it up to 2021
you can take a look yourself here : https://www.docomo.ne.jp/support/product_update/
so i guess 3-4 years security support. Not sure about major android version update.
but for specific example , Aquos R2 was released in 2018 with Android 8.0, it got Android OS updates in 2019 (to 9.0) , and 2020 (to 10.0), while in 2021 it only got security updates and bugfixing. (so i guess around 2 major OS updates ?)
And today my R6 just got it's 9th Update for latest security patch.
Hi guys, I recently update to 12, however my R6 got a problem that when I unlock a phone, it takes a bit time to open it, like 10s. Do you guys know how to fix that one? Thanks.

Battery Capacity
The Leagoo Site currently shows a 3200mAH battery..
Are there different versions of it or have they changed it recently?
I was ready to order it but noticed this so I guess I should ask first.
Battery
I'm kinda late coming in here but. The battery is 3200. I have been very happy with the battery life. It will Last all day easy with regular use. However The phone has been a real disapointment. I mean it was under $150. So.... yah.

Why has it been a real disappointment mate?
Please point out what issues you have faced with it..
There aren't many reviews on it so it would really help if you enlighten me as I'm still thinking of getting one but haven't decided yet..
A few things I've noticed.
Typing is a pain. The interface continually multi types letters when I hit space if I try to type to fast. Like it has trouble keeping up. It also hits L instead of backspace a lot. Also when using apps or browsing online the keyboard doesn't pop up. It pops up probably 50% of the time. Some text fields it just doesn't pop up. I had to download hackers keyboard because it creates a button in the drop down menu that allows me to manually open the keyboard.
The hardware otherwise lives up to what I was expecting very smooth interface, however ever since the first update the clock and notifications on the top bar as well as the setting menu items are flipped. Example. Clock and battery go from top right to top left. And other little nuances.
I don't use the stock launcher so I can't comment on it.
I don't remember dropping the phone however my mic no longer works. So I can't make phone calls without a bluetooth device. I suppose It's possible I damaged it somehow but it's only been about a month I've had it.
I'd rather just get a new Samsung phone then deal with shipping for a repair or replacement.
The bluetooth doesn't seem to work as well as my old phone or tablet. For example my galaxy tab and old razr phone show song titles and info on my bluetooth car stereo but the elite 2 does not and goes out sometimes. The connection can be very finicky. Sometimes it drops out for a few seconds every minute.
The GPS is not very accurate. Constantly adjusting putting me a few streets over.
The screen does not feel smooth like other devices I'm used to. What I mean by that is as I drag my finger across it my finger seems more likely to drag hard or stick to the screen. It's not terrible or a deal breaker but I do notice it.
I guess ultimately it was inexpensive. I should have expected it to feel inexpensive. I tried really hard to like and defend it but ultimately I'm not very happy with it. So if your considering it I'd say as long as the mic doesn't break it does do the whole being a phone thing well. Otherwise it's been a pain in the ass.
Hope this is helpful
Wow, that's a lot of issues.. I'm constantly liking these china phones less and less..
Well, a friend of mine has ordered it recently so I'll also test it out to see how his device goes..
Also another friend of mine ordered the elephone P3000s so I'll also check that one out before I make my final decision..
But deciding is kind of getting rougher over time..
Many thanks for your post mate! Best of luck with your case!
Well, I am more pleased with the phone than most people. It works a treat, BUT, the keyboard failing to show is a BIG PROBLEM.
Has anyone got a fix other than installing hacker keyboard? this is a ridiculous situation.
When this problem occurs on any other phone, you can clear cache + data on 'android input' in the ALL section of the apps settings and it will come back. On samsung phones 'android input' is called something else but the process is the same.
Does anyone have any clue what I need to clear to fix this on the leagoo? I've tried all clearing android keyboard + swiftkey etc, no joy.
Great device, I am really looking forward to it. I am about to order a unit for myself.
UPDATE: there is a recent OTA update which you must click CHECK UPDATE to see through the ABOUT PHONE section of settings, it is not automatically detected.
After installing this latest update, keyboard woes sorted. Very very happy with this phone for the price now.

The latest OTA update, accessible via Settings --> about phone has addressed the keyboard issue.
Unfortunately, Leagoo have proved themselves to be most dishonorable as a company.
The Elite 2 ships with 2 programs built into the ROM (NOT DELETABLE) that are packed with malware. The device downloads and installs further malware infected programs of its own accord.
beautymakeup is one offender, I forget the other.
We desperately need root for this device so that this can be addressed.

Well I couldn't find any alternative to fit my requirements at such a price, so I ordered it and finally received the device yesterday.
Almost immediately I installed the OTA update so I didn't face any hidden keyboard issues.
The phone is running smoothly no matter how much I load it up.. I've run tests: Phone Function, Speaker, Microphone, GPS, 3G, WiFi all work fine and battery is nice too! Also, I got a normal for this cpu ~28000 on AnTuTu.
Design wise I'm ok with it I would like it to be a bit thinner but I'm a freak when it comes to thickness so don't worry about it. It's ~7.5mm thick... It's almost equal to my sister's Elephone G7 in thickness only that one is a bit thinner around the edges.
I love the black version as the screen tends to blend in with the frame when off, plus the colors look great in contrast with it when on.
The screen is very bright and I use it easily at less than 25% setting and it's view-able from any angle.
I installed all my favorite apps(a few dozens of them) without any problem and today I noticed an ad popping up every now and then.
So I decided to root the device and succeeded on the second attempt using Kingo Root.
After rooting I removed that beautymakeup app and the leagoo market since I don't really need it and I'm now wondering if there's anything else that has to go without ruining anything.. so I would like to ask if these 2 should be removed or not:
1. Leagoo Launcher (can I remove it or it will cause problems to my phone's functionality?)
2. OtdLauncher (I have no idea what it is so I'm not touching it until I get something on it..)
It seems that the ad is still popping up every now and then and I don't know which app is launching it..
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I am pretty bloody keen to know how you got kingo root to work? I've run it a bunch of times and not had a win.
If you have installed a replacement launcher, you should be fine to remove or freeze the old ones....but I have no idea what Otd launcher is. Anyone else?
Leagoo Elite 2 - A nice phone.
Just got mine delivered yesterday evening.
Solid built and feels good in hand.
Played with it today for two hours and all is set.
There is one issue/strange behaviour I have noticed on the handset delivered to me, navigation button lights are always ON, back/menu buttons not the home button.
Anyone else noticed this?
And as reported by another user, it feels strange sliding finger on the screen, it feels like sticky.

Try using the apk version from Kingo Android Root website, it worked for me, windows application failed for me too. But kingoroot also installs lots of bloatware. So I installed SuperSu and once it took over the root management I removed Kingo and everything that it installed using App Master
Using the App Master I have also removed all other garbage that came with the device (launchers/Leagoo Apps etc), I am using Apex Launcher.
App Master gives you the option to take backup of the APP you are removing, so use that option and if something goes wrong, restorte the removed APP.
Installed xposed, MinMinGuard (removes in APP Ads) & Amplify
Overall phone is performing very smooth, not checked it with heavy games/apps as this one is a gift for my Mom, so only few extra Apps that the old lady will use.

I'm also not sure how.. it just worked on the second try.
Maybe uninstall the driver and try it again.. Kingo likes to install the driver it finds on its own.. Just a thought though.. no promises.
Now this is new.. today I got another OTA update notice so I decided to download it and upgrade..
But the system showed up this message "your system was damaged wireless update is disabled".
Ok, now I'm wondering what went wrong..
Could it possibly be that because my device is rooted it prevented the update? Should I unroot it?
It's kinda scary.. Has anyone else faced the same issue?

That could be a reason, try unroot completely and then try.
I received the phone with LEAGOO_Elite_2_V020_20150512
You may also check with the customer support for ROM download and flash it using some custom recovery.

Well I'm not facing any "bugs" or "performance issues" as the update says so I don't really need the update.. so I'm ok without it.
However something else that drives me nuts is that even though I've uninstalled leagoo launcher and market and that weird app beauty sth but still.. I get a random ad every now and then that's been happening since I bought it before even installing anything.
I'll try to note down what is being advertised, I'm pretty sure one is "App Box" and there is another one I don't remember.
I will note them down next time they come up and research on them..
This ad appears once in every 2 or 3 days without running any specific app so I still I can't track it..
A few days ago I purchased a new SM-P600 and have been getting to know my device. It has downloaded a firmware
update which I have not installed yet. l can't seem to find any comprehensive info on what exactly the new update offers, like what sorts of changes or improvements should I expect? Will the interface look different? Has anyone taken any pictures or are there any tutorials ? l haven't made any changes to the device yet other than downloading some apps. l haven't ever updated or rooted a tablet before, so I want to make sure I don't screw it up. Any info or suggestions would be appreciated.
Are you on kitkat? Of so, it is most likely the lollipop update. You can see reviews and screen shots in this forum. Mixed opinions, but personally, I think it's a very good update.
Updating over the air like you have done is safe. It will not damage any data or files unless you deliberately do a factory reset or the tablet switches off in the middle of the update.
Sent from my SM-N915G using Tapatalk
Apparently I have Jelly Bean and it's an update to Lollipop 5.1.1 I'm not concerned about data or anything since I haven't created/stored anything on it yet. Just installed a few basic apps and set up my email.
One of the things I'm encountering reading the threads is that a lot of people have rooted or made changes to their device and I'm wondering how that affects functionality. I'd like to see/read a review from someone that can show how the stock update functions in comparison to what I currently have on it. I just think I should make some decision before I start to get used to this version and to store stuff on it.
Overall I'm happy with it as it functions now. I'm only noticing two issues. It seems to give me battery life of about 5 hours. I have turned off a lot, and turned brightness down, but perhaps there are more things I should be doing to optimize the battery. The other problem is handwriting doesn't want to function with Dolphin browser. Seems to be working in fine in every other app.
Rooting has nothing to do with the update. 5.1.1 is a very major OS update from Jellybean. It has a different UI, and better, more fluid experience (at least for me). If you are an Spen user then there are major improvements, themselves worth the upgrade.
You can root or not, as you wish, whether you update or not. If you want to see what the update looks like, you will find comments, screenshots and videos if you google p601 lollipop
Hi everybody,
Now that we have the proper forum, we can start discussing about this great device. I bought my device unlocked around November, so by now, I know pretty much all the features and things you can do with it. Also I have to say is my first Huawei phone, I come from Nexus (since Nexus 4) and I changed my Nexus 6 for a Moto Maxx (Droid Turbo) because it was too big for me.
I will be putting my own opinions about the different features of the phone, and this guide will be completed with new updates or information about the device. I will try to be short in order not to make this text unreadable, but feel free to ask anything about the device or functions, I will try to answer as soon as possible.
Design
I have to say the the feel on hand is AWESOME, there are no many words out of this one to describe the feeling you have when holding this device. The quality and feel is actually wonderful and Huawei made an impeccable work here, a really premium design.

I have to say I come from a 2K display and I say that even when there is a difference, you won't be noticing a lot. The panel used on this phone is great quality and the colour reproduction is good. Besides this, you are able to configure the temperature colour of the screen in order to have warmer/colder colours on it.
The 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass is also a nice touch and it gives a more premium feeling and look.
Performance
This phone comes with 3GB on RAM and a Snapdragon 615, out of the Kirin that Huawei usually puts on their devices. For me, Qualcomm is always a better options, since Kirin (and Mediatek) use mediocre GPU on their devices, even when sometimes the raw power of the CPU is better than the one in Snapdragon processors. Performance overall is good for normal tasks, the only time I have noticed some lag is when browsing on heavy JavaScript sites and it even get a little unresponsive for few seconds only on Smart profile, it seems that with Normal profile everything is working as expected. Everyday applications runs fine (Gmail, Twitter, WhatsApp, Maps, Music).
For games, the performance is good and decent as well, you won't be running the latest games at 60fps, but the experience is pretty acceptable. I tested Asphalt 8 and Modern Combat 5 in maximum settings and they were running with no problem. Hearthstone is one game I always play, it runs really good and I haven't had any problem with that.
About overheat, I haven't noticed any of this while playing games or running applications, but I can say that recording long videos in 1080p can lead to overheat and consume battery quicker.
Camera
Another reason why I got this phone is the camera, pretty good aperture and most important of all: it has OIS. One of the few cameras out in the market that has proper stabilization, and for sure you can notice it when taking pictures and videos. The pictures taken with the phone are really nice, but as every phone, in low light conditions it starts to struggle. Camera application is really complete and with a lot of options.
One important thing to say is that pictures taken out of the box are really crappy and pale, so it is needed some tweaking in order to extract the best of this camera, which is not hard neither, interface is really intuitive and easy to manage.
Sound
We have only 1 bottom speaker, which I really dislike because of its position, but the sound is good and decent. But the important thing about the sound is not the speaker, but the magic comes when you connect your headphones, the sound is really nice, most probably because it comes signed by Dolby, but whatever they are doing with the sound, is a really enjoyable experience.
Battery Life
Good battery + decent display + mid-range processor = 2 days battery life. Most of the time I'm reaching 2 complete days of battery with around 4-5hrs SOT. I'm really happy with the battery life.
Sensors
The fingerprint sensor is really smooth and quick, I haven't had any problems with it and is a really nice thing to have in a phone. This phone comes with the normal sensors, BUT BE AWARE THAT IT DOESN'T COME WITH A GYROSCOPE. How this affect?, well, you won't be able to rotate automatically 360` videos, have VR on it or make Photosphere pictures. In case you want to change the perspective in 360` videos, you will have to do it manually with your finger. It doesn't affect for games or any other application as far as I noticed, but is something that really disappointed me of this device.
Software
I have to say that I have mixed feelings in this section, because even when we have a good Android release (5.1) and the additions Huawei put in Emui are 90% really usable and nice, it has still some issues and bugs.
First thing you will notice is that there is no application drawer, so all the application icons are in your screens, more like iOS style. The are tons of options and settings to configure, and you will need time to check each of them and understand how this is working. Emui has an aggressive memory management, so you will have to decide which applications can or can't run on the background, as well as if they will have permission to show notifications.
Maybe this can sounds a little annoying, and actually it is in the beginning, but when you start to see the advantages of this, you will be really happy with it. You will have for example no wakelocks or battery drain, because if you don't let the application run on the background, it won't. System applications of course don't need to be configured, they run as normal, so no worries about mails or stuff not working.
Is about using all the options and configure them in order to have a really good experience, but this usually take a couple of days, because it is so different from Android stock.
Tips, Tricks and Bugs
This section is for random things related to the phone and its applications. As everything, this phone is not perfect and is prone to bugs, so I will try to post some of them so the people can be conscious of both good and bad parts of this phone.
The software version I'm using is RIO-l01C432B150, but for the sake of make things easier, I will take the last 4 digits of the version, so I will say I'm running the B150. There is a new version (B170), but I haven't installed yet which seems to fix many of the issues as well as having security patches.
Settings for perfect pictures
The camera application comes with a lot of options, but the pictures are not nice out of the box, you need to tweak somehow the settings in order to get good and vivid colours. With the adjust of this settings, most of the time you will get really good results.
White Balance: Auto or Daylight (depends on you)
ISO: Auto
Exposure: -1
Saturation: +1
Contrast: -1
Bright: 0
WhatsApp Notifications (Fixed with B170)
It seems that Emui has a couple of problems with WhatsApp, sometimes notifications are not arriving and only when you open the application you start to receive messages. The last Play Store version of WhatsApp is not working for many people, so after many tests and trials, I found a version who works just fine and without problems:
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/whatsapp-inc/whatsapp/whatsapp-2-12-374-4-android-apk-download/
WiFi Auto-connect (Fixed with B170)
Most of the time, the WiFi won't be connecting automatically to the known networks. Some people said that is just enough to delete the network and re-add it in order to make this feature work properly.
Energy Profiles (Personal Assumption)
The phone comes with 3 energy profiles: Ultra, Smart and Normal. Ultra is for making calls and receiving messages and disables most of the "smart" part of the phone. Smart is kind of battery saver without sacrificing too much performance and Normal is more like a performance profile for games and heavy stuff.
I have been testing somehow this profiles for a while, and for my point of view, they are kind of broken. I get almost the same battery life between Smart and Normal, and the performance is the same as well. To probe my theory, I made some benchmarks and I found that these 2 different profiles (which should be doing different things) get the same scores in almost all the benchmarks, even sometimes Smart profile is getting more score than the Normal, thing that should be inverse.
I don't know how these profiles work, but I think that Normal is the one bugged and probably that's why I have noticed lag sometimes in the device, because is not taking advantage of the full capacities of the processor. Even when both profiles get the same score on benchmarks, on Normal mode the lag from browsing is gone.
Lockscreen Notifications
By default, the Lock-screen is not able to show notifications or the screen won't turn on when a notifications comes, like "Ambient Display" style. To make this happen, you have to install a theme compatible with this function, which currently is enabled on the latest Huawei phone, the Mate 8. Just unzip the themes on the Hwthemes folder and select them from the Themes application. After this, new options will appear on the Lock-screen menu from settings and you will be able to configure it from there.

Enabling Gyroscope (Root)
For some reason, Huawei didn't enable the gyroscope on the G8, but there is a way to make it work. You have to download the file, and put them here " /system/etc/permissions", then give the proper permissions the them (" rw-r--r-- (644)") and reboot the phone. You will have a working gyroscope now.
https://mega.nz/#!pEEGFLbJ!scUWYUCZ_uGM7TyaaJPu7O8YfVgnk4DyCT7jSWCW35E
Hide Navigation Bar (Root)
There is a way to have this function that comes in other Huawei devices as well, we just have to edit the "build.prop" file and change the line "ro.config.showNavigationBar=true". After this, we save the file, we reboot and we go to Settings>Navigation Bar and we will find a new option to show or hide the navigation bar.
Multimedia
I will be posting some pictures because for some people camera is really important, and even when this is not an expensive phone, camera is pretty decent.
About the video, I don't have at the moment any samples, but I have to say that image quality is good as well, but in really loud environments (clubs, concerts) the microphone get saturated and this will lead to some crappy sound in videos.

Can you install one of the apps "Hardware info" or "cpu-z" and test the sensors? And maybe post a screenshot?
Some say there is a gyroscope, some say there is none...
Is there an ambient light sensor in g8?

I already made the test in the past, and for sure there is no gyroscope here. I tried the same videos on my old phone and they were working there, but not on this phone.
About the ambient sensor, yes it comes with one.

But when i change position of my phone, it will switch automatically from landscape to portrait mode?
Can i play car racing games where i can steer my car with moving and turning the phone?
So when this only will affect taking photos or videos - it´s not a big fault for me.

Yes, because all those tasks are made with the Accelerometer, not with the Gyroscope, the phone changes automatically to landscape or portrait with no problem.
I tested Asphalt 8 and it runs perfectly fine with just turning the device to the right or left, so no worries here because of that.
My girlfriend has a european g8 and she's so frustrated because of the missing whatsapp notifications and wifi autoreconnect bug.. Downloading now a b170 fw hope it will really fix those bugs..

The update is fake, Huawei never put their software updates on 3 parts, and most of the page just have the same text and same screenshots for the phones they claim to have a different ROM.
About the WiFi bug, there is nothing we can't make, but as for WhatsApp, install the version I gave on the "Tips, Tricks and Bugs" section and it will be fixed, trust me.
Just remember that B170 is an update for single SIM G8.
Thanks mate! Yes I've already installed the whatsapp version you suggested, and it seems to be working fine now, let's see if it will stay like that
About the wifi that's a very big and bad bug..Let's hope they'll fix it soon! why they don't release b170 also fit dual sim
thank you bye!
Did you root your phone and unlock the bootloader already?
In the german forum there was written, that you can´t install huawei updates OTA anymore if rooted.
How can you make an update if you rooted your phone? Downloading stock rom from support page and flash manually?
There are many people with wlan problems with the newest rom B160. No automatic connect in home network. If this big issue will be fixed soon, perhaps i will buy the g8.

I haven't done that yet, not root or unlock bootloader, I don't see the need yet, because stock has for me everything I currently need.
About the updates, Is not about the root, but about the recovery. Usually when you root, you install first a custom recovery, so when the OTA comes, it can't update automatically because it doesn't recognize the recovery and it fails. Many people is going back to stock, make an update and then root again, I think is the safest way to have the latest updates and root.
About the WiFi problems, many people claim that B170 already fixes this issue and also the notifications problem, which are the most important bugs for this phone.

But currently B170 is out for single-sim only?
In germany i get the dual-sim version i think.
If i root my phone and want to update - go back to stock means, flash the whole stock rom with twrp and then twrp is removed automatically too?
Yes b170 only for single sim ;( in Italy also there is only dual sim

Yes, B170 is only for single sim, even though I have heard about a B160 (from France) which maybe could be dual sim, but I'm not sure.
If you want to go back to stock, you should flash the whole system image I think, not only the ROM. You have to be sure you have the stock recovery and ROM in order to have a successful update. Some people is trying to flash B170 while having root and they are bricking their phones or in a boot-loop, they can't even enter to recovery; so never update if you are root.

Hi, I just got a Note 10+ and I haven't transferred over to it yet. I was playing around with it and before I knew it, the Android 11 update was pushed to it and as y'all know it forces it's way in even after you disable it. So far with minimal apps and no sim card, the phone seems fine. There are some missing edge panels I can't access anymore in the galazy store or google play for that matter.
That being said, are people here generally happy about Android 11? What are some well knwon issues?
I have been skeptical about Samsung phones since my Note 8 to Note 9. As they get updates, the phones start running more clunky. Almost like they purposefully want you to upgrade.
Android 11 (one UI 3.1) is all I know on this phone. I came from the Note 4 and S5. Just got my Note 10 as well with Android 9 and two days later did a system update to Android 11. For me, it was about 10 updates in a row and 2 or 3 of them were roughly 2GB. I should have done factory reset before doing the updates, but then again, I didn't have the phone that long before doing it. I wish there was a setting for the transparency on the notification pull down, apps drawer, recent apps, etc but's faily tastefully done. They give the option to change the tranpsarncy on the lock screen but not the main screen which is backwards. I don't like the new fat vertical volume sliders. They look nice but harder to use because your finger's in the way. LOL. The horizontal ones were wider than these are tall. Some say Android 11 is slower and harder on the battery. The battery life isn't as good as I hoped.
I don't have issues with Edge Screens missing in the Galaxy Store in Android 11. Never used Google Play for edge screens. but then again, I never used Edge Screens before, so I wouldn't know what was missing.
One thing I noticed right off the bat is the brightness of the Note10 isn't as bright when the brightness slider is set to the same position as my ancient S5. I put the display setting on Vivid and the white balance/gamma is too red. I put the Cool/Warm slider all the way to Cool and it's still a tad Red.

THere was this edge screen app called Edgeboard that used to be available and was available on my Note 9. It's no longer available
So battery life is shorter and Note 10+ is slower on Android 11. FFS
I don't see Edgeboard in the Galaxy Store. Just repeating what little I read about Android 11 and battery life and performance. Maybe others can chime in. I'm sure it's mentioned in this forum in detail.

You need to block the carrier update apk. Conversely if it downloads clearing the system cache (or maybe a factory reset) should clear it if it hasn't flashed yet. Last ditch effort and not a good long term solution.
If you avoid/ turn off wifi to stop the update that won't work forever because the update apk can turn on wifi and any other apks it needs as well as certain towers (AT&T probably other carriers too) are "update" towers that will download the update fast.
I use a package disabler to keep my updater neutered. https://www.packagedisabler.com/
An ADB edit is also another way to get it done on a unrooted stock phone.
Carriers like AT&T can block updates on their end if you pester them enough
Get it done asap whichever solution you choose.

Yes, CUSTOMIZED EEA 62.1.A.0.533 (Android 12) was released ( https://xpericheck.com/XQ-BT52 ) 4 days ago, but according to the phone update check and Xperia Companion, no software update is available. Phone is using stock firmware, WiFi/4G is available and I have made several restarts. However when CUSTOMIZED EEA 62.0.A.9.11 (Android 11 update) was released month ago, I got it right away, at the same release day.
Based Reddit, a lot users are facing same problem. Some say that software repair using the Xperia Companion pushes update to phone. But I don't want to and I don't have time to reset my phone and set up everything, including every app settings from scratch.

it is folklore, no such need at all.
I have received the update (62.1.A.0.533) this morning.
Installation took around 45 minutes.
Haven't had any technical issues per se so far, but am still struggling with the look and feel of Android 12.
i have been using the phone for almost a week now after the new update (62.1.A.0.533), i haven't done any factory resets, here is what i noticed:
1. Battery is draining a lot faster than Android 11
2. UI is a bit bulky, especially the toggle buttons. Definitely preferred Android 11
3. Screen Mirroring is not working for me. WFD service keeps crashing (that's a major issue because i mirror all my videos)
4. I had previously mapped the power button (click twice) to GCAM. Now it's not working. Only works with the stock Camera
Overall, a negative experience. I would not recommend the update.
If anyone else is facing issues please let me know

I got the update notification yesterday and installed last night. So far I'm not having any technical or performance issues. All seems to be working. Still, I find the new UI a big step backwards in comparison to Android 11. Everything is so much bigger (menus, quick settings) using lots of dead space.
There aren't separate toggles for Wi-Fi and Mobile Data internet. You can't turn on or off with one tap. You have to open a submenu now...
The quick settings toggles are way bigger. You get only 4 in two lines when sliding down (or 8 if you slide with two fingers or twice). Which means that you will be needing an extra step for some actions.
I'm missing the functionality where on Android 11 I could use Google pay right away when holding the power button. Now there is a toggle in the quick settings instead (again extra step to use). Instead there is just a restart, shutdown and emergency menu if you hold the power button.
I don't get the new features of android 12 or it just doesn't seem to make a difference for my uses. The new bigger quick settings are annoying for me and if I had known before, I wouldn't have updated. If there was an easy way to roll back to 11 I would happily do it. But I guess I can't do that without flashing an older firmware on the phone. Maybe a future update would allow to make the quick menus a bit smaller?

I've read somewhere that after factory reset the separate toggles for wifi and mobile data internet would show up.
::edit::
Sony's Android 12 update has separate toggles for Wi-Fi and Data, but only if you factory reset
The Android 12 update for the Sony Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III ships with separate toggles for Wi-Fi and mobile data.

another way:
[....] if you want to get back a dedicated button to toggle your Wi-Fi, Mishaal Rahman shared a command on Twitter that you can execute via adb to get it back.
adb shell settings put secure sysui_qs_tiles "$(settings get secure sysui_qs_tiles),wifi"
Right this morning I got the message of a System Update from Sony (I live in Italy).
I think I'll wait some days before update, would be like to read more feedbacks on how the device behaves under Android 12, in particular concerning the battery draining, I quite happy with my Xperia 10 III that overnight (9pm to 8am) drains just a ridiculous 3%.

i have been using the phone for almost a week now after the new update (62.1.A.0.533), i haven't done any factory resets, here is what i noticed:

1) Recheck again app -s permissions, disable or uninstall unwanted ones, disable location wifi/bluetooth scan and wait for few days until the battery is calibrated and user habits/trends are known for the operating system.
Also You may try enable system cached apps under developer options -

2) It can't be changed, and you have to get used to it and hope that some update will fix/change it.
3) This is something new.
4) Have You tried XPERI+ for remap - https://github.com/ivaniskandar/shouko
You must agree this is a rather ingenious way of getting people to update their systems regularly. You're not told beforehand what the update changes, and only afterwards do you notice that the update was a downgrade in every single aspect. You want to swear that you'll never install a system update ever again, yet you know that you will have to do just that in the hopes that eventually some update will fix what the previous ones broke.
I must admit as much I agree that a proper changelog should be displayed before any update, I do like that android 12 update. Getting older (ok, I'm not that old) I'm pretty happy with the bigger/new layout

On the stock Android 11 you can make the UI big from Settings > Display > Display size. This is in addition to and separate from Settings > Display > Font size. So I still think the forced size in Android 12 was not necessary...
I updated my device on Saturday, everything went OK. I'm rather satisfied with the new UI, display size and font size can be adjusted as in Android 11, some aspects are nice, some others less, on the other hand it's impossible to create a UI that is good for everybody. There are a lot of launchers and ways to customize the appearance of a smartphone, so this is not a problem in my view. Apart from the graphical aspect, Android 12 brings new interesting features and I think this is more important.
I appreciate that Sony kept the media volume steps equal to 30, which is finer enough for listening music. At the moment, the power usage seems to be as before, my device drained only 3% overnight (9pm to 8am) as with android 11, and that's great.
The smartphone seems responsive and fluid, I didn't explored all the functionalities yet, but I would say that this update is OK.
Is it just me or do apps 'reload' more often after the update? I feel like caching of background apps is worse but I'm not sure.
Other than that and the combined internet toggle, this update is alright.
The overall app managing should be more optimized in Android 12, however you could try the above mentioned option in the Developer settings (suspend execution of cached app).
There are just a couple of commands to be sent via ADB the to restore separate wifi/mobile toggles, I'm waiting to see how is to deal with the combined internet one.

Noticed this too. For example, if I use "Simple Gallery Pro" from F-Droid to browse through some videos and I open a video with Kodi, then after I'm done watching the video and return to the Simple Gallery app, it will often reload, forcing me to navigate the folder structure once again.
I didn't have this issue with Android 11 - returning to the gallery app would bring me back to where I left when Kodi was launched. I'll try changing that setting mentioned above by @code010101 to see if it helps.
