Hello,
I had installed the xiaomi.eu rom on my Xiaomi mi 10t but I didn't like it anymore. I looked for a rom with more customization options. I found AncientOs and dotOs. I installed the first rom but my phone kept restarting in flashboot mode (I tried to format it, without success). I tried the second rom and this time I restarted again and again in recovery mode . So I reinstalled the Xiaomi.eu rom and it worked. Now, I'm back to the starting point. I would like to successfully install another rom than xiaomi.eu.
Does anyone have a solution?
Thanks in advance

Aosp rom often requires specific firmware. You can flash the firmware with the TWRP/Ofox or with this MIflash.(better).
Format data write yes and reboot Twrp is obligatory if you don't use MIflash.
If there are errors while formatting(red lines) reboot to TWRP and format again.

I am a novice, I hope I have understood well : I have to install the official MIUI firmware then I format the data and then I can flash the AncientOS rom then format again.

Hey guys,
I have recently bought my "Whyred" (4/64 global) and have already unlocked the bootloader.
After switching to Miui 10 global developer rom (with official MiFlash Tool) I wanted to test some custom roms. Therefore I have enabled the developer options, USB-Debugging and OEM Unlock. After this I have booted TWRP 3.2.2.0 with fastboot and flashed the TWRP image to the phone via the booted recovery. Followed by the no-verity-opt-zip (6.0) and Magisk v16.7 to root the phone.
On this basis I went back to the recovery and did a factory reset, followed by an advanced wipe of dalvik, cache, data, system and vendor. Afterwards I have moved the whyred-treble-vendor (zip-file) and the PixelExperience GSI to my phone. First I have flashed the vendor-zip and then switched to image and flashed the GSI as system-image.
And now comes the problem: when I try to reboot to the system it always states "No Os installed". By wiping the cache and data again, I am able to boot to the system, but the phone is stucked on the Mi-Logo
After recovering my phone with the MiFlash Tool (Miui 10 global developer rom), I have tried to flash the GSI in different ways according to a lot of guides I have found in the net, but nothing is working. All methods are leading to the same result: my phone stucks on Mi-Logo
Could anyone of you give me a hint about what I am doing wrong?
Thank you!
Best regards,
nkl
At a guess with wiping system and data. Your also removing changes done by "no-verity-opt-zip (6.0)", and since your still using the MIUI Bootloader the device won't boot the associated GSI.
Maybe try flashing/booting a Treble enabled custom rom, first and then install your GSI. Or avoid the whole Treble thing and just use a custom rom.
You may get more assistance in Treble specific threads/forums.

Hey,
Thank you for your quick reaction!
But did I get something wrong? Doing a factory reset and then doing an advanced wipe of dalvik, cache, data, system and vendor is more or less an essential part of all the guides out there?
So you think, I should try to flash for example LineageOS first and then take an approach on the GSI? And which steps should I take? Should I flash no-verity-opt and Magisk under Miui 10 global dev first and then flash custom, i.e. LineageOS? Or should I flash LineageOS first (on a fresh Miui dev rom) and then no-verity-opt and Magisk?
Thanks!
@nkl0806 After installing the GSI while using MIUI as the base you could try flashing no-verity-opt before trying to boot.
no-verity-opt is only required on MIUI based roms (or in your case with a GSI).
Flash a custom rom and boot it. Don't worry about magisk etc.
Then install your GSI and boot it, avoid flashing magisk or gapps.
Once it boots, go back and install magisk and gapps etc and wipe data.
Hopefully then boot and setup your GSI rom.
Also make sure your using a Treble enabled TWRP!
Noob guide to install GSI on whyred
Again look for support in Treble Threads/Forums, I haven't experiment with it, so only going by what I have read.

I have also followed this noob guide to flash the GSI, but it did not work out. Maybe I should really skip the Treble stuff and just use the normal custom rom!
I will try to flash the PixelExperience rom and not the GSI - or maybe follow another Guide and flash the Mokee rom first as a base for the GSI.
Thanks again!

MIUI 10 Global 9.1.24 ,,, ARB4 is already active,
1. keep latest copy miui10.2.1 in your pc / sd card ( RECOVERY ROM MIUI10.2.1 DOWNLOAD LINK <----1.7gb
2. ALSO for safty purposes, download FASTBOOT ROM VERSION OF MIUI10.2.1 ALSO, if anything goes wrong, fastboot version can reset Stock Recovery and persist.img also! (which is altered some times while flashing custom roms and/or GAPPS)
FASTBOOT ROM MIUI 10.2.1 DOWNLOAD LINK
3. I USE 'ORANGE FOX RECOVERY' ORANGEFOX 8.3 which is BUILT on twrp-3.2.3-2 --- (DOWNLOAD, UNZIP, USE THE .IMG FILE )
4. Buttt [unofficial] twrp-3.2.3-5 (OTA support for miui and fixed /data encryption for miui10.2.1, ) is released, orange fox is outdated but works very well, however you can use unofficial TWRP 3.2.3-5 also, I have used it, its okay! DOWNLOAD LINK TWRP 3.2.3-5
5. use gapps micro, as anything above micro, always flash pixel launcher! along with given launcher in custom rom, but its your choice
6. DONOT USE MAGISK 18.0,,, stick to MAGISK17.1, because 18.x uses different script to repack /ramdisk folder in kernel. so if you wana flash/test other kernels like latest DERP, Latest insignex, or Agni etc,,,, orangefox and twrp will give you error "cannot extract /ramdisk" ... UNLESS You RESTORE BOOT IMAGE from backup FOR THAT ROM (if you had taken backup at the time of initial flashing) or REFLASH the ROM.
--- hence i stick to magisk 17.1
6b . Orange Fox in Jan19 did mention that they are supporting magisk 18.0 script and once twice i was able to flash kernels also over magisk 18.0 but mostly i got errors!

Yes you can but there is no guarantee that the gsi/sgsi will boot or if booted will work properly. Only testing will tell.

I'm planning on updating my Mi 5s to Lineage OS16 but I would first like to flash the latest firmware for the device. To do this I first need to flash the developer firmware and ROM from here. This however is not possible. To flash the ROM requires a previous version of MIUI to be installed since no "fastboot version" exists yet. In the past, a "fastboot version" of the ROM could be flashed using their XiaoMiFlash tool but since that version does not yet exist for MIUI 10, I'm forced to use the other method of flashing from the device itself. This would usually be fine, however, since I am on LineageOS, I am unable to flash MIUI from the device. Does anyone know how to flash MIUI 10 when their Mi 5s is using LineageOS? Any help is appreciated.

This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you very much!
Hey!
I too am having some troubles, but the linked XDA thread does not give an answer.
I want to install the MIUI 10 Global Stable form xiaomi eu (based on Oreo) (https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/miui-10-0-10-1-10-2-10-3-10-4-stable-release.47170/), but after installation it does not boot.
I have tried the following:
I am coming from official LOS 16, and had my storage encrypted. Before installation of LOS16 I updated the firmware using xiaomifirmwareupdater.com to version 10.2.3.
Now, I wipe cache, dalvik, system and data and then install the zip from xiaomi.eu (https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=11410963190603906104), which does not throw an explicit error, but returns a [0] in TWRP. Then, when I reboot, TWRP gives the message "No OS installed"'. I continued anyways, and let the phone sit for 30 minutes, but it is stuck on a boot screen (different boot screen than I had with LOS though). I checked the MD5 hash, which is correct. Also, I performed exactly the same procedure another time.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
I though it might had to do something with the following:
- going from AOSP to MIUI?
- Having encrypted through LOS16?
- Having updated the firmware to 10.2.3, and the installing a 10.2.1 ROM (although the xiaomi eu roms have their required firmware baked into the zip right?)
Any help would be much appreciated!
Hi,
I'm using the following version of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T (willow):
- Model number: Redmi Note 8T
- Android version: 9 PKQ1.190616.001
- MIUI version: MIUI Global 10.3.1 | Stable 10.3.1.0(PCXEUVF)
- Model name: M1908C3XG
So it's still the official MIUI 10 stock ROM,
the only thing I've changed is that I switched from stock to custom recovery TWRP (https://twrp.me/xiaomi/xiaomiredminote8.html) and installed a GCam mod (https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-8/themes/best-gcam-mod-redmi-note-8-t3970675).
If I press the button to check for OTA updates within MIUI it still says no updates available.
However, according to this thread it's possible to download and flash the update to MIUI 11 manually:
https://www.xda-developers.com/download-miui-11-xiaomi-redmi-note-7-pro-poco-f1/
1.) Is my understanding correct that based on my current MIUI 10 ROM,
I have to download and flash the "V11.0.1.0.PCXMIXM (Global)" one from those versions mentioned below?:
43. Redmi Note 8T (willow):
- V11.0.2.0.PCXEUXM (Europe) Download Recovery ROM Download Fastboot ROM
- V11.0.3.0.PCXEUXM (Europe) Download Recovery ROM Download Fastboot ROM
- V11.0.1.0.PCXMIXM (Global) Download Recovery ROM Download Fastboot ROM
- V11.0.1.0.PCXRUXM (Russia) Download Recovery ROM Download Fastboot ROM
2.) Is my understanding correct that this MIUI 11 ROM could be flashed without loosing the existing data (apps, pictures,...)?
If yes, what would whould be the best approach (via "Recovery ROM" or "Fastboot ROM" method),
and what do I have to select in TWRP for example so that my data doesn't get wiped during the flash?
3.) Once I've flashed this MIUI 11 ROM will it get regular updates via OTA,
or is it a kind of beta version?
Thanks and best regards

judging by the present miui version in your device it's PCXEUVF so you have a european version. You can download the latest recovery rom from here. MIUI 11 EU version will be PCXEUXM. You can flash this rom from twrp. But looking at your post seems like you haven't flashed disable dm-verity zip(a zip which prevents stock recovery from coming back after every reboot), you might end up with stock recovery which is a good thing. If you end up with stock recovery then you can just put this recovery rom in a folder named "downloaded_rom" (without quotes) in internal storage and update with updater app and your data won't be lost.
In case you want to flash some other version rom like global(PCXMIXM) or russian(PCXRUXM) then you have to download fastboot rom and mi flash from here and flash it with mi flash which will erase your data so make sure you backup your data before flashing.
Hi,
thank you very much for your reply!
Okay, so as it seems like I'm having a EU version,
based on my understanding I have to select the following MIUI 11 ROM, right?:
V11.0.3.0.PCXEUXM (Europe) Download Recovery ROM Download Fastboot ROM
Most likely I've already flashed something like "dm-verity" zip ("flashed disable dm-verity zip(a zip which prevents stock recovery from coming back after every reboot'),
because I've restarted the Redmi Note 8T several times and TWRP recovery is still available.
So what do I have to select within TWRP to flash this MIUI 11 ROM without loosing the existing data (apps, pictures,...)?
Thanks and best regards

Yes you have to select the miui 11 rom PCEUXM recovery rom if yo want to flash with twrp.
Now comes the part where you have to consider a few things.
So dm-verity and forceencrypt are different things. Sometimes both features are included in a single zip file. So if your device is decrypted you'll have to go through a lot of troubles. Search for encryption in Phone settings search bar and check if your device is encrypted or not. If your device is encrypted just flash the rom through twrp and everything will work just fine.
However if your device is decrypted then you'll face bootloop into twrp every time you dirty flash/update miui stock. To solve this do any of the following :
1. Flash stock rom though twrp as you do but after that you need to format data or else your phone won't boot.[but all your data will be lost so back it up first]
2. Flash stock mi recovery and then update through updater app.
3. Flash another recovery like orangefox which provides ability to flash miui OTA without any issues. Here's a guide for you how to flash miui using orangefox.
Hope it helps.

Hi,
thank you very much for your reply!
Okay, I've ensured that my Redmi Note 8T shows the status encrypted within the settings first.
Then I've downloaded the "V11.0.3.0.PCXEUXM" ROM from the link mentioned below (http://c.mi.com/in/miuidownload/detail?device=1900375).
I then tried to boot into TWRP recovery, but Redmi-Recovery 3.0 appeared instead.
So it seems like I haven't installed the fix which avoids TWRP recovery to be replaced by the default recovery after a reboot.
So I've just rebooted into MIUI and flashed the downloaded ZIP file of the "V11.0.3.0.PCXEUXM" ROM like decribed below:
"But looking at your post seems like you haven't flashed disable dm-verity zip(a zip which prevents stock recovery from coming back after every reboot), you might end up with stock recovery which is a good thing. If you end up with stock recovery then you can just put this recovery rom in a folder named "downloaded_rom" (without quotes) in internal storage and update with updater app and your data won't be lost."
However, initially this was not working so I had to do the following additional steps (https://www.gizchina.com/2019/10/23/how-to-download-and-install-miui-11-if-it-has-not-yet-arrived/):
"Then, we go again to the ‘About this phone’ section.
And in ‘System update’ we press a few times on the logo until a small temporary warning appears.
Then, click on the three-point menu and choose ‘Select update package’.
We look for the ‘Downloaded_rom’ folder and select the ROM that we have previously downloaded."
(Note: I had to re-install the app Mi File Manager first in order for this to work!).
However, I'm getting the following error message:
"Couldn't verify.
Looks like current ROM's network carrier type is different from that in the Recovery package.
Please download the correct ROM from MIUI forum."
I did a quick research and it seems like my Redmi Note 8T device contains a strange Vodafone branded ROM ("VF" = Vodafone ):

If I remember correctly I was also wondering why it contains a pre-installed Vodafone app when uninstalling apps/de-bloating the ROM.
Thanks and best regards

Hi,
thank you very much for your reply!
So it seems like it's the wrong ROM
But which one do I have to selected instead...?
Thanks and best regards

Did some searching and found out that you have a vodafone rom that's why there's VF in the end and not XM. I suggest you to switch to XM one using fastboot method via mi flash. After that you'll receive updates as soon as they're released by xiaomi.

Okay, will try to do this.
But this means I will loose the existing data (apps, pictures,...), right?
I hope it will still support B28 after changing from the PCXEUVF to the PCXEUXM ROM?
Thanks and best regards

Yes unfortunately you will lose existing data. Backup all your data before flashing fastboot rom via mi flash. After flashing everything will work just fine
