I'm planning on updating my Mi 5s to Lineage OS16 but I would first like to flash the latest firmware for the device. To do this I first need to flash the developer firmware and ROM from here. This however is not possible. To flash the ROM requires a previous version of MIUI to be installed since no "fastboot version" exists yet. In the past, a "fastboot version" of the ROM could be flashed using their XiaoMiFlash tool but since that version does not yet exist for MIUI 10, I'm forced to use the other method of flashing from the device itself. This would usually be fine, however, since I am on LineageOS, I am unable to flash MIUI from the device. Does anyone know how to flash MIUI 10 when their Mi 5s is using LineageOS? Any help is appreciated.

This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you very much!
Hey!
I too am having some troubles, but the linked XDA thread does not give an answer.
I want to install the MIUI 10 Global Stable form xiaomi eu (based on Oreo) (https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/miui-10-0-10-1-10-2-10-3-10-4-stable-release.47170/), but after installation it does not boot.
I have tried the following:
I am coming from official LOS 16, and had my storage encrypted. Before installation of LOS16 I updated the firmware using xiaomifirmwareupdater.com to version 10.2.3.
Now, I wipe cache, dalvik, system and data and then install the zip from xiaomi.eu (https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=11410963190603906104), which does not throw an explicit error, but returns a [0] in TWRP. Then, when I reboot, TWRP gives the message "No OS installed"'. I continued anyways, and let the phone sit for 30 minutes, but it is stuck on a boot screen (different boot screen than I had with LOS though). I checked the MD5 hash, which is correct. Also, I performed exactly the same procedure another time.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
I though it might had to do something with the following:
- going from AOSP to MIUI?
- Having encrypted through LOS16?
- Having updated the firmware to 10.2.3, and the installing a 10.2.1 ROM (although the xiaomi eu roms have their required firmware baked into the zip right?)
Any help would be much appreciated!

Hello there,
I am sure that my question has been answered numerous times but I can not find a thread which would help me or at least fits my problem.
I currently have LineageOS for MicroG installed (LOS 15.1, latest build). The device runs good so far, but I want to try out MIUI10 and go back to stock or use the xiaomi.eu ROM.
My problem is, if I try to flash the xiaomi.eu ROM in the TWRP (I have 3.2.3 installed), I get stuck in the boot logo (I waited about 30 minutes, so I am pretty sure that it will not boot).
So I thought, maybe I have to flash the official global first and then flash the .eu ROM in TWRP again. But I can not even flash the official global ROM via the Mi flash tool, because I get stuck at the boot screen again.
Flashtool displays only a succesful message, after this the device tries to reboot. Can somebody help me here? I tried it with the official fastboot ROM, downloaded directly from Xiaomi.
Thank you!
Edit: and of course I made a factory reset before I tried to flash something in TWRP.
Have you tried to format?
Just flash the ROM via Mi Flash Tool instead of TWRP, worked fine for me
Help
Just flash lazy flasher zip file after flashing the miui 10 zip file that'll work fine you have to flash this lazyflaser.zip after every time you installing miui ROM. Hope it'll work.bye?

MIUI 10 Global 9.1.24 ,,, ARB4 is already active,
1. keep latest copy miui10.2.1 in your pc / sd card ( RECOVERY ROM MIUI10.2.1 DOWNLOAD LINK <----1.7gb
2. ALSO for safty purposes, download FASTBOOT ROM VERSION OF MIUI10.2.1 ALSO, if anything goes wrong, fastboot version can reset Stock Recovery and persist.img also! (which is altered some times while flashing custom roms and/or GAPPS)
FASTBOOT ROM MIUI 10.2.1 DOWNLOAD LINK
3. I USE 'ORANGE FOX RECOVERY' ORANGEFOX 8.3 which is BUILT on twrp-3.2.3-2 --- (DOWNLOAD, UNZIP, USE THE .IMG FILE )
4. Buttt [unofficial] twrp-3.2.3-5 (OTA support for miui and fixed /data encryption for miui10.2.1, ) is released, orange fox is outdated but works very well, however you can use unofficial TWRP 3.2.3-5 also, I have used it, its okay! DOWNLOAD LINK TWRP 3.2.3-5
5. use gapps micro, as anything above micro, always flash pixel launcher! along with given launcher in custom rom, but its your choice
6. DONOT USE MAGISK 18.0,,, stick to MAGISK17.1, because 18.x uses different script to repack /ramdisk folder in kernel. so if you wana flash/test other kernels like latest DERP, Latest insignex, or Agni etc,,,, orangefox and twrp will give you error "cannot extract /ramdisk" ... UNLESS You RESTORE BOOT IMAGE from backup FOR THAT ROM (if you had taken backup at the time of initial flashing) or REFLASH the ROM.
--- hence i stick to magisk 17.1
6b . Orange Fox in Jan19 did mention that they are supporting magisk 18.0 script and once twice i was able to flash kernels also over magisk 18.0 but mostly i got errors!
Hi,
I'm using the following version of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T (willow):
- Model number: Redmi Note 8T
- Android version: 9 PKQ1.190616.001
- MIUI version: MIUI Global 10.3.1 | Stable 10.3.1.0(PCXEUVF)
- Model name: M1908C3XG
So it's still the official MIUI 10 stock ROM,
the only thing I've changed is that I switched from stock to custom recovery TWRP (https://twrp.me/xiaomi/xiaomiredminote8.html) and installed a GCam mod (https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-8/themes/best-gcam-mod-redmi-note-8-t3970675).
If I press the button to check for OTA updates within MIUI it still says no updates available.
However, according to this thread it's possible to download and flash the update to MIUI 11 manually:
https://www.xda-developers.com/download-miui-11-xiaomi-redmi-note-7-pro-poco-f1/
1.) Is my understanding correct that based on my current MIUI 10 ROM,
I have to download and flash the "V11.0.1.0.PCXMIXM (Global)" one from those versions mentioned below?:
43. Redmi Note 8T (willow):
- V11.0.2.0.PCXEUXM (Europe) Download Recovery ROM Download Fastboot ROM
- V11.0.3.0.PCXEUXM (Europe) Download Recovery ROM Download Fastboot ROM
- V11.0.1.0.PCXMIXM (Global) Download Recovery ROM Download Fastboot ROM
- V11.0.1.0.PCXRUXM (Russia) Download Recovery ROM Download Fastboot ROM
2.) Is my understanding correct that this MIUI 11 ROM could be flashed without loosing the existing data (apps, pictures,...)?
If yes, what would whould be the best approach (via "Recovery ROM" or "Fastboot ROM" method),
and what do I have to select in TWRP for example so that my data doesn't get wiped during the flash?
3.) Once I've flashed this MIUI 11 ROM will it get regular updates via OTA,
or is it a kind of beta version?
Thanks and best regards

judging by the present miui version in your device it's PCXEUVF so you have a european version. You can download the latest recovery rom from here. MIUI 11 EU version will be PCXEUXM. You can flash this rom from twrp. But looking at your post seems like you haven't flashed disable dm-verity zip(a zip which prevents stock recovery from coming back after every reboot), you might end up with stock recovery which is a good thing. If you end up with stock recovery then you can just put this recovery rom in a folder named "downloaded_rom" (without quotes) in internal storage and update with updater app and your data won't be lost.
In case you want to flash some other version rom like global(PCXMIXM) or russian(PCXRUXM) then you have to download fastboot rom and mi flash from here and flash it with mi flash which will erase your data so make sure you backup your data before flashing.
Hi,
thank you very much for your reply!
Okay, so as it seems like I'm having a EU version,
based on my understanding I have to select the following MIUI 11 ROM, right?:
V11.0.3.0.PCXEUXM (Europe) Download Recovery ROM Download Fastboot ROM
Most likely I've already flashed something like "dm-verity" zip ("flashed disable dm-verity zip(a zip which prevents stock recovery from coming back after every reboot'),
because I've restarted the Redmi Note 8T several times and TWRP recovery is still available.
So what do I have to select within TWRP to flash this MIUI 11 ROM without loosing the existing data (apps, pictures,...)?
Thanks and best regards

Yes you have to select the miui 11 rom PCEUXM recovery rom if yo want to flash with twrp.
Now comes the part where you have to consider a few things.
So dm-verity and forceencrypt are different things. Sometimes both features are included in a single zip file. So if your device is decrypted you'll have to go through a lot of troubles. Search for encryption in Phone settings search bar and check if your device is encrypted or not. If your device is encrypted just flash the rom through twrp and everything will work just fine.
However if your device is decrypted then you'll face bootloop into twrp every time you dirty flash/update miui stock. To solve this do any of the following :
1. Flash stock rom though twrp as you do but after that you need to format data or else your phone won't boot.[but all your data will be lost so back it up first]
2. Flash stock mi recovery and then update through updater app.
3. Flash another recovery like orangefox which provides ability to flash miui OTA without any issues. Here's a guide for you how to flash miui using orangefox.
Hope it helps.

Hi,
thank you very much for your reply!
Okay, I've ensured that my Redmi Note 8T shows the status encrypted within the settings first.
Then I've downloaded the "V11.0.3.0.PCXEUXM" ROM from the link mentioned below (http://c.mi.com/in/miuidownload/detail?device=1900375).
I then tried to boot into TWRP recovery, but Redmi-Recovery 3.0 appeared instead.
So it seems like I haven't installed the fix which avoids TWRP recovery to be replaced by the default recovery after a reboot.
So I've just rebooted into MIUI and flashed the downloaded ZIP file of the "V11.0.3.0.PCXEUXM" ROM like decribed below:
"But looking at your post seems like you haven't flashed disable dm-verity zip(a zip which prevents stock recovery from coming back after every reboot), you might end up with stock recovery which is a good thing. If you end up with stock recovery then you can just put this recovery rom in a folder named "downloaded_rom" (without quotes) in internal storage and update with updater app and your data won't be lost."
However, initially this was not working so I had to do the following additional steps (https://www.gizchina.com/2019/10/23/how-to-download-and-install-miui-11-if-it-has-not-yet-arrived/):
"Then, we go again to the ‘About this phone’ section.
And in ‘System update’ we press a few times on the logo until a small temporary warning appears.
Then, click on the three-point menu and choose ‘Select update package’.
We look for the ‘Downloaded_rom’ folder and select the ROM that we have previously downloaded."
(Note: I had to re-install the app Mi File Manager first in order for this to work!).
However, I'm getting the following error message:
"Couldn't verify.
Looks like current ROM's network carrier type is different from that in the Recovery package.
Please download the correct ROM from MIUI forum."
I did a quick research and it seems like my Redmi Note 8T device contains a strange Vodafone branded ROM ("VF" = Vodafone ):
- Anyone with the Vodafone Custom ROM still getting updates ? (REDMI NOTE 8T) [10.3.0.1/PCXEUVF] - Xiaomi:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/com...one_custom_rom_still_getting/?sort=confidence
- Redmi Note 8T w NFC - Redmi Note 8/Pro/8T - Mi Community - Xiaomi:
https://c.mi.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=2576031&aid=4944161&from=album&page=1
If I remember correctly I was also wondering why it contains a pre-installed Vodafone app when uninstalling apps/de-bloating the ROM.
Thanks and best regards

Did some searching and found out that you have a vodafone rom that's why there's VF in the end and not XM. I suggest you to switch to XM one using fastboot method via mi flash. After that you'll receive updates as soon as they're released by xiaomi.

Okay, will try to do this.
But this means I will loose the existing data (apps, pictures,...), right?
I hope it will still support B28 after changing from the PCXEUVF to the PCXEUXM ROM?

Yes unfortunately you will lose existing data. Backup all your data before flashing fastboot rom via mi flash. After flashing everything will work just fine
I have a strange and weird behavior with flashing custom rom by twrp
I have two RN8 Global phones
- batch 07-2020 64GB A9 Miui 11.09
- batch 11-2020 128GB A9 Miui 11.011 board ID 3.29
The first one I have flashed without problems with RR official in august and updated till the last from DqrKn3Zz.
The second flashed without any error in twrp, but refuses to boot in twrp or system,
Screen went black, pushing powerbutton does lcd backlight only short flashing. usb isn't recognized.
Only solution is testpoint, edl flash with qfil.
What are the differences with flashing:
- Miui version
- Board ID, I think
- Storage 128Gb vs 64GB
- Twrp 3.5 vs 3.4
- Twrp flashing rom from external SD card vs internal storage
- FW and RR version are for both devices the same, the FW 12.01 Global and last RR 8.6.4 from DqrKn3Zz
- The first one I started with RR8.5.8 and FW 20.8.27 CN, but don't dare to flash CN FW anymore
I followed the instructions for unlocking, twrp and FW and RR flashing, but get always a flashing screen and fastboot isn't possible anymore.
In the past I haved flashed about 12 different Xiaomi phones, but this is the first time I am out of ideas how to solve this.
My suspicion is that something is or isn't changed in the booting process with flashing FW.
Tried different scenarios like, partly flashing and starting to twrp again.
I can flash and start twrp, flash magisk, decrypt etc. but if I flash FW and Rom that ended it.
I have formatted data, wipe system, caches and vendor etc. but no succes
Testpoint/EDL I have used 5 times to recover Miui 11 again, without problems or sahara error
With starting Miui, my account is still there, I only have to activate it and bootloader is still unlocked.
The last thing I can try is flash only RR and no FW, but I don't know if it is possible to flash A10 custom on A9 FW
Or official update to Miui 12 - A10 and try to flash custom rom only.
But I am afraid that if there is again a brick, the EDL solution won't work.
Has anybody some other ideas what I can do?
Answer my own question:
The headache is over
At last I found the reason of this brick.
It is impossible to flash Miui 12.0.1 with recovery on Miui 11.0.11
Only with Miui 11.0.11 you must flash Miui 12.0.1 with fastboot
The first version which you can flash with recovery is Miui 12.0.2
I didn't know this because I never intended to use Miui.
After a search I found a source for this information
Installed RR8.6.7 with FW 12.03 without problems

i flashed over 250 rom on my 128gb variant without a single problem
i always flash rom + dfe + format sometimes if required
about 100 rom with twrp
and the rest with orangefox
i was on OFox when i flashed miui12 but the phone booted normally
maybe because i have "Aggressive stock recovery deactivation" option enabled ...
i don't like to flash FW a lot
they seem to be N1 problem source for ginkgo ...
I too have a lot of experience with flashing (not 250+), but becasue I stay far away of Miui I didn't know of this incombabilty with Miui 11.0.11 and recovery-flash of 12.0.1 Firmware. Older versions of Miui 11 hadn't this problem.
For me this was the first time I had such a problem.
If I had flashed the latest RR ZhanTech version immediately, I wouldn't even have noticed this problem.
But the first RN8 is in use by my wife and isn't completely flawness.
With the second one I had planned to experiment first with some solutions for that,, because I could always back to base.
Luckely I choose always a Xiaomi which has a lot of development for it, so mostly is this an older type and never the newest.
In this case it was very easy to flash back with EDL and patched firehose file.

No, with Miui OTA you flash with Xiaomi recovery, but before you get a warning 12.01 is incompateble and recovery doesn't start.
Directly with twrp, you don't get this warning and also you don't get any flashing error.
That is why I didn't expect that it was of incompatiblity of the FW.
One of the last things I did was flashing rom, magisk etc and started between to system.
As last I flashed 12.01 FW and got a brick.
After this I was searching for this problem and there where complains about a brick with flashing the new Miui 12 with twrp.
I was afraid that I couldn't flash new FW, but then I found that it is only with FW 12.01....... flashing 12.02 and 12.03 give no problems.

Yes, only 12.01 FW or Miui12.01 with twrp gives a brick.
12.02 and higher is possible with twrp.
it is only possible to flash Miui 12.01 entirety with Miflash/fastboot

ow, i see
thx for the informations
So, i tried to install a custom ROM on my Redmi Note 8 pro (begonia model).
I used a LR-TWRP somewhere from this forum (I can link it later, currently on mobile),
It boots, but if I try to install MIUI 12.5, it just bootloops (not system, recovery), rooting bricks the phone (restored with SP FLASH).
Installing preloaded, lk and lk2 (from megathread) kinda bricks the phone, I can boot to MIUI, but can't to fastboot and recovery. (I also restored it)
Installing Pixel Experience 11 (my target ROM is Pixel Experience 12, but I would need to update MIUI, which breaks TWRP) also bricks the phone.
I am currently on MIUI 10, Android 9.
What can I do?
Sorry for my English.
Your TWRP version is incompatible. Flash the Android 11/12 version of TWRP after you flash the ROM.

Okay, so i installed MIUI 12.5 and Begonia Recovery Project.
Pixel Experience 11 Plus works fine, but i can't install the 12 one.
It shows ERROR 1,
and assert failed: update_dynamic_partitions(package_extract_file("dynamic_partitions_op_list"))
From other threads, I formatted data and install latest MIUI (12.5.7), but it still errors.
Sorry for not replying, it was a night time in my country
Begonia Recovery Project is based on Android 10 version of TWRP.
Flash the latest MIUI using fastboot then flash this version of TWRP:https://sourceforge.net/projects/be...ic/Dynamic-TWRP-Begonia-23-12-21.img/download
Then sideload or direct install the zip and format data.
The guide says don't worry about red line errors.
