11.0.1.7 is T-Mo specific.

11.0.1.7 HD63CB is most probably T-Mo specific. I cannot find any data on it.

Custom Kernel for Oppo N1

I found a custom kernel for the Oppo N1 by Faux123. I was wondering if a CAF kernel would work on an Oppo N1 running Paranoid Android?

Yeah, just wanted to be sure since I hear that backing up your EFS folder isn't necessary on an Oppo device. So coming from a Samsung where it was a must, I didn't want to take any chances of accidentally flashing the wrong kernel.

Which was my point. It does seem a bit foolish to expect active development on a device that has yet to be released for another month.

I agree.
I read that the official kernel was released, by lenovorola, so things should be happening, soon.
It has only been the Verizon version up until recently. In a few months as more people buy and developers buy, you'll see more activity here.

It's been available for the US for over a month. It was released 8/18 or 8/21, I can't remember which, but I remember it was that weekend.
Shouldn't we also see factory images for this thing too? I don't mind messing with it and poking around but I want a way to go back to stock if I screw something up.

Look at the date of OP's post.

He was asking for custom roms before the device was shipping from the factory.
Stock image is already available and has been posted in other threads. It was how I made my TWRP build for the Retus version of the Z2 Play.
They're available here: https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/albus/official/RETAIL/

The only thing that I am confused about is... is the image the same for all the Z2 Play variants? I seen a bunch of them, from -01 to -07 (I'm not even sure what the US one is, I get mine on Wednesday).

While the Z2 Play are all called "Albus" as a codename, the US is "Retus", Retail US variant of the Albus. (Settings > About Phone > Software Channel) There is an international variant, too, (Probably also called Retin like my Z Play is called) Someone built a TWRP based on an international image and it was incompatible with Retus, so I would not quickly assume that images are interchangeable until roms are built against a device tree (Like LineageOS keeps) with all the variant differences merged together into the kernel.

Okay, so the stock image you linked isn't the one we need for Retus then? That's what I want to have as a fallback.

What I linked is the stock image for Albus/Retus. With the Moto devices, it's typically Device Codename/Software Channel.

Albus is the device code name i.e. the hardware's code name. Retus, reteu, retca, retin etc are the software channels. So all variants of Z2 play will be called Albus (except maybe the Verizon locked ones or 3gb /4b ram variants or ones with/without nfc maybe called differently I don't know) whereas they will be on different software channels. I am assuming it is exactly the same for a particular hardware variant(for eg i have one with NFC and 4gb ram and all unlocked z2 play phones in all markets with 4gb ram and NFC will have same software) that is available unlocked in all markets of the world .
Edit: Posts I am basing my assumptions on:

Actually, I'd be satisfied with our firmware avilable on Motorola's site and an official TWRP.
This is the first phone I haven't felt the need to have a custom ROM for absolutely nothing, it's just veeery stock with exactly the thingy majiggis I would install anyway, and also have the fortune that my carrier is the cleanest carrier of all, absolutely no bloatware whatsoever, only the radio "PRIP" service. Not saying it wouldn't be great to have some custom action, but not really having a hurry for it.
Not planning on rooting mine yet, but I'm curious, does the TWRP for Retus work on Retca (Canada) my variant has 3GB of ram and NFC
I'm close to being where a don't feel the need to root.
I miss battery bar with no battery icon and dark backgrounds, but I could probably live without.
What I can't live without is Dolby Atmos.
I'm just bit gushy about rooting, with no official TWRP and original firmware available from Motorola.

You actually don't need root to do the battery stuff, you can do this with stock. Enable the hidden System UI Tuner (https://lifehacker.com/the-coolest-things-you-can-do-with-androids-hidden-syst-1773364942), then you can disable the battery icon.
Then just go grab one of the battery bar apps from the Play store. I use Power Bar (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.etechtour.batterybar&hl=en)

Project Treble

As we all know our 1+5T doesn't support project treble,
so my question is,
is this hardware or software dependent?
In other words,
is it possible for devs to find a way to implement it in future custom roms or in a kernel for our dumpling?
Or would this just be impossible?
Thanks in advance

Good question.
At least one would need to repartition internal card, if I understood. This alone is not impossible but a bit hard and not without risk.
That said often I wonder if it could be possible to boot, say, TWRP (or any other Linux) from USB and take full dd backup of internal card for all certainty (and then repartition). This is how many Android TV boxes can be backed up (they use u-boot infrastructure). So why not phones?

This question has been discussed lots before.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5t/how-to/change-org-project-treble-op5t-t3709841
Implementing Project Treble would require repartitioning storage. Also, it gives literally zero benefit to a custom ROM.
TL;DR: It's never going to happen.

Perhaps there is no functional benefit. But porting seems easier for some devices:
What about :

This is the Samsung Galaxy S9 running on AOSP Android Oreo thanks to Project Treble

Yup, somebody saw a mountain and decided to climb it. We'll see what comes of it.
Yeah mokee ROM has treble working on the OnePlus One 5T. There's an unused partition that can be created without re-partition in the device and if you install a regular ROM it doesn't see it you install a treble ready ROM and you previously had mokee installed according to the mokee dev it works. It uses the ab style of treble. There is an "a" and "ab" and "a/b" versions from what I read. Mokee is releasing nightlies of their ROM
Haven't tried it on mine pretty happy with the aicp Oreo that I'm running so I can't tell you what bugs it has. Google it XDA has a discussion on mokee and treble with OnePlus 5t

No, my buddy does not work. Nubia is not a very solid firm in this regard, it does not load Google applications in a solid way.

no, the official ROM is very unfriendly with google, if you rely google much I suggest you to use 3rd party rom.
Why are there so few custom roms to try?
Support is minimal.
Other devices with the same equipment have far more rumors.
My other device even had treeble support.

No love for /e/?

Ever since I got this device, I have been wondering why there's hardly any mention of /e/ (i.e., epsilon) being officially supported?
Yep, I know the designation is somewhat awkward but this is a full A10 Lineage based ROM supporting microG, ready to be downloaded and installed.
Info about Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 / 8T - ginkgo
/e/OS is an open-source mobile operating system paired with carefully selected applications. They form a privacy-enabled internal system for your smartphone. And it’s not just claims: open-source means auditable privacy.

i remember testing 2 builds (maybe unofficial)
it's designed for the people who have limited knowledge and just want a "privacy rom" ready to go
it is good. and that's it
but not enough for me since i do a LOT of customisation
and have enough knowledge to duplicate the same environment in RRos ...

Thanks for that. Must admit i looked last year and don't remember seeing the note 8 added otherwise I may have looked at using it.
Unfortunately just using any custom rom does not seem to stop Xiaomi data leakage plus they seem to have more issues then some other custom roms.

the reason MicroG was created is to prevent the data collection done by google

I wish I could believe that. From what I have read, and it seems logical, if the custom ROM is built on certain manufacturers firmware then that firmware may be leaking data.
I would be very happy to have that proven incorrect but have read numerous posts in the past on the AFWall+ thread with people complaining specifically about Xiaomi.
